Thank you much for this valuable advises and motivation . I am trying now to get back on track it is a real struggle as I don't feel restriction anymore and I can eat anything but I will keep trying also I had severe acid reflux I am trying to be healthier in my food choices hope it will work thank you so much t had been so tough week so i have been overeating since then I have already gained 30 pound but I don't want to get it worse since I had my procedure on Nov 2017 . I still feel pain and full but I can eat more than I could right after the surgery I am so afraid from stretching I have become so obsessed with the idea of stretching can the stomach stretch with this fast ? I never reach my goal weight and went back to overweight . I am thinking that even if the gastric sleeve was the right procedure for me as it didn't help me with my overeating . as I isn't easy anymore as I don't have the full feeling as before. It was a huge decision for me to have that surgery, and I feel like I wasted that opportunity. I'm feeling really defeated. I feel so hungry a week may be more before my period time and I feel like I can eat anything and any portion actually I do this I ate 3 toast and 200 gr of cheese and then in dinner I ate chicken fajita with white rice and two large bars of chocolate. I am craving sweets the whole time Is that normal or something... What's In Your Hospital Bag?

My cell phone charger, right before my surgery I bought a 10 foot one at Staples, Tomkitten teased me about it but it was very valuable. Also if they tell you to bring your C-Pap do it. But learn from my error, I didn't check,to see it was complete. My model wasn't the same as their house ones. Since I was 50 miles from, home, and had no one to,bring me the part missing, I had to wear 02 the entire Post-Surgery time, because it would have been difficult to drag it up and down the hall, I was room-bound, good thing,I DID NOT have gas to expel, I think OSU must pump it back, out at surgery conclusion.👈😝👉 -
I found oatmeal on the bariatric pal website. Its got added protein and only 10 carbs. Post Op food list my doc gave me, had grits and cream of wheat so i feel like it will be fine. We will just see how my pouch feels about it Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm so new to this so I'm not sure about it and my surgeon is out of the country so I can't reach him -
I honestly don't think a 5 lb gain should require a reset, as long as he is sticking to his meal plan and any exercise routine he may be doing. Almost all of us will fluctuate up and down a few pounds (mostly in water weight). Changes in the weather, daily routine, exercise routine, life stresses, age......all of these and more can have an effect on our bodies. As long as he has not slid back to some old habits then I would simply suggest an extra 10-15 minutes during exercise for a week or two. Maybe change up his exercise routine a bit if he does the same thing day after day. On the subject of exercise....if he is hitting the gym hard and heavy, it is quite possible that the gain is from added muscle.....if that is the case, I wouldn't worry about it. If you/he has one of the scales that measures fat, water, muscle, bone, etc...has he been tracking all of that? I would recommend doing so if not, then you'll have a better idea of where the weight was gained.

February 2019 weight loss buds
Carrot64 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Had RNY 2/4/19... did very well and no more freeking acid reflux!!! 64 lbs down since the 2nd week of January ( did the liver shrinking diet and to my amazement, I followed it ) and foamies 2xs and dumped once( over a damn Think Thin bar) and I don’t want to do that ever again.. I am great with the protein thing... middle to fair with water and awesome with watching carbs.. my surgeon allows fruits and I am now obsessed with my one naval orange a day and pineapple(fresh) and salads.. I haven’t craved much junk but I’m in maine with the kids and I really wanted some of my sons birthday cake but we had a house full and I didn’t want to be rude and be sick so, I didn’t.. everyone’s journey is different, I am COLD ALL the time and I have loose skin and a VERY wrinkly neck but I don’t care.. I wear it with honor because I finally did something positive for myself and I regret NOTHING... food was never the answer to my problems and I hope to stay on track and be a hero in my own life , not a victim .my Daddy passed on March 28th .. 96, he lived with me.. he was very supportive of my surgery.. the night he died I ate a piece of chicken too fast and foamies galore!! It was the last time I turned to food and I’m glad I got sick...I’m changing, I’m a different woman than I was 6 months ago and I plan to be even better next year.. this forum helped so much as I recovered and I’m so grateful! -
Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....

Yeah, no. That guy has zero credentials to make him an authority on that. It is a scientific fact that 1 pound of muscle burns 7-10 calories a day and 1 pound of fat burns 2-3 calories a day. If you replace 20 pounds of fat with 20 pounds of muscle, the muscle will burn 140-200 calories a day just existing compared to the fat burning 40-60. This doesn't account for activity level and other things in which engaged muscles expend more energy, too. This is also in addition to the activity burn when building the muscle which is probably 4-600 calories a week. Muscle just burns more energy. I find it unlikely he is burning 4500-5500 calories a day, too. Although, if he were taller it is possible. Not everyone fits into the little boxes everyone wants to put people in on this site. Some of us DO burn a lot of calories because we are large, have a low body fat % and are active. I'd put this guy in that category. He is probably burning ~3500 calories a day. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. My advice to him is to take the money (only costs me about $300 every six months) to get his BMR and body composition tested so he knows exactly what his body is made up of and how many calories he burns a day just existing, and with varied levels of exercise. I wouldn't listen to anyone on this forum -- and yes, that includes me -- I'd see what the numbers say from people that specialize in doing this. -
I had my surgery on March 5th, 2019. I was losing a lot of weight each week. Last week only 1 lb and this week I only lost 1.5 lbs. I am frustrated at going through this surgical process to lose weight and having the loss already slowing down. I have not cheated at all. I stay at 1000 healthy calories a day, 70 to 80 grams of protein. Only drink water. most days 64 ozs per day. What am I doing wrong?

I live in Riverside California and I had Bypass March 23rd 2019 I'm having a hard time finding support groups near me for post OP people so I figured I would try to create my own based on friendship and REAL non judgmental support! Had my surgery Monday. 5/20/19. They were great!! -
My surgery was 10 days ago, and honestly I'm feeling pretty good. I'm getting my fluids in, and now that I picked up some unflavored protein powder, I'm getting closer to my protein target. The thing I became aware of today is that I have been slouching a lot. I need to work on sitting/standing properly, even though my abs burn when I do. Absolutely, FluffySaysForkIt! (Love your name, btw!!!) Just waiting for my body to adjust again and continue on 🙂 I anticipate moving into onederland, was hoping by the end of this month, but, looks like maybe next month...and that’s okay, because without the surgery, I would most likely be where I was, battling with the same 10 lbs...constantly.

Obsessing about weight loss/ or lack thereof and adjusting after surgery
Briswife15 replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are following your team's plan for you for food amounts and stages you'll be just fine. I gained weight, 10 pounds, from the IVs in the hospital, so it took me a week to lose the water weight. At 10 days out I was still on protein shakes only, no food, so I don't know about that. I would measure and weigh everything, and only eat the amount you're allowed to eat. Good luck. Obsessing about weight loss/ or lack thereof and adjusting after surgery
Tiffany L. posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! So I’m 10 days post op, vertical sleeve (5-16-19) and I don’t know how much weight I should be losing per day. I freaked out yesterday because my scale went up. I was 352 to 359 but I really am not eating much. I’m drinking a lot of water but as for pureed foods, I’m having about an oz of ground chicken with a tbsp of chunky salsa (without added sugar) or 1/4 oz of refried beans as a snack plus the protein shakes around my 5th snack. Today I weighed myself and I’m back to 353 but I have to admit, I’m going through it! I’m freaking out afraid that I’m failing at this! I also don’t have much support. My husband doesn’t want to hear my whining, and I can’t talk to my friends because they aren’t obese. I’m feeling all the emotions now. Also, I’m not really feeling full. I just stop eating the moment I feel gassy, and wondering if that’s normal. Not to mention, my BM is odd, I’ve used the bathroom just twice this week. TMI. I’m sorry. I hope I’m not the only one experiencing this! I hope it gets better as the time goes and I do see this weight come off. The pain and the emotional adjusting has to be worth it. Sigh :’(. And yes, I’m feeling a bit depressed. I’m just faking it as much as I can. I’m such a social person and life is around food and it no longer is. Plus mg bday is on Wednesday and I already know I’ll be alone and bored af cause I don’t know what to do without food!!! Sorry for the rant. Thank you for reading! Xoxo -
What is a NOLA gal like you doing in Viet Jam? Is it business or a pleasure trip? Don't know if I could go there or not, I'm sure it is TRULY beautiful in 2019. ME----- I remember the Viet Nam War,too strongly, just my hangup, I probably wouldn't visit the EUROPEAN concentration camps either, I avoid locations of human suffering.

Anyone have experience with needing to be dilated after gastric bypass?
Frustr8 replied to Taranurse 1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh yeah Baby, I am the Queen of All that- June 12th will be either my 12th or 13th lifetime, 10 after my RNY bypass with the strictures and jejunal ulcerations, This should be the last, if it is not at the desirablecstate surgery may be ahead. They have repeatedly dialated, thought at first I was just with an opening that snaps shut but it was more due to the ulcers and swelling present. But it is what it is and will be eventually corrected, in the meantime my weight is decreasing, lost about.110 pounds, give, orbtake since surgery almost 10 months ago to,IT will be 5th of June 10 months. Not the journey I expected or was planning but it's still good and May take me where I need to be. -
He had better consult with his surgeon. I have had many of those things and I am a bypasser with a stricture, food can't pass through. This is usually a gastric bypass problem but not all VSG are exempt. And if one variety doesn't work, tastes so bad you can't stand it, there are many others to chose from. The kind that works for me isn't one you commonly hear of. After 10 months of protein shakes one does become a connoisseur, I finally found one that doesn't choke me up, has flavors I can stand and doesn't totally break the bank. And lastly your son may have developed a temporary allergy to some of the milk proteins, there are soy-based, or plant- based, personally I don't like them as well but they are a total God-Send for many. There are always answers to every question, just not always easy to find.

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Ready610 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On 5/27, I start two weeks of protein and veggies only until my surgery on June 10. I’ve got protein shakes for after surgery and broth. I’m like others have said ... excited and nervous a bit more as the draws near. -
I have a supportive Husband and 19 year old son at home.. they are good at bringing me to appointments and cheering me on but not too great about changing their habits for me, however I really didn’t expect them to and am not tempted at all by the junk anymore( a SHEER MIRACLE) I really didn’t expect to be able to avoid it all so easily.. I’m so grateful and so amazed .. my dad passed away on March 28th and as an almost reflex I came home and stuffed my face with ( of all things) dry chicken .. vomited , composed myself and realized I could no longer "use” food to solve anything, I could no longer use it to anesthetize myself with it any longer.. I had a pity party for myself and moved on.. I am slowly becoming the person I knew I could be.. with all that surgery gave me.. why would I mess that up???

My co - workers Aunt had the surgery and was in surgery 2 weeks later because she ate a large slice of pizza.. SOOO.. my co-worker believes 1: I will need emergency surgery at some point. 2: I will fail miserably.. it just motivates me to prove the nay sayers wrong.. I’ve lost 64 lbs since mid January 19.. surgery date was 2/4/19 and I have kept on track which totally blows my mind .. who is his new person anyway!!!
