Hitting Post Op Protein & 64 ozs Fluids
Crisscat replied to Crisscat's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am doing better today I think. Still feel full all the time but at the moment I dont feel like puking from being so full lol. Ive got to change my mindset to yours.....not going to worry about it just do what I can. I am so ready to be off liquids but have another week to go. -
Hello and welcome in the forum, Congrats on your weight loss so far. Yes its very normal to not feel hungry. The part of your stomach that sends the hungry signals has been cut away. Until it heals and knits together we are in happy land. I am 2 weeks shy of six months out and I still never feel hungry. We are the lucky ones. It must feel awful to be hungry and only eat tiny amounts or have to suffer shakes that go straight out of the stomach.

Had my RNY on March 22, 2022, very happy where I’m at in over a month and a half, I’ve lost 60lbs, and now able to wear shorts I haven’t worn for 6 years. Thank god I saved them haha. anyways, my question is is it normal to just not feel hungry, I get my protein and fluids in everyday as well as my vitamins but I have to force my self to eat something. Been on soft foods for 2 weeks and have 4 weeks to go but I just do not feel hungry at all. What can I do? Is it normal?

Totally the same! I am 5 weeks post op - I can eat so much more than others on this forum! Today, we had a shared lunch at church - I had one large sausage roll (minus the pastry casing), 3 tbsp of tuna pasta salad, 3 tbsp bulgar wheat salad, the full topping of a large slice of veggie pizza and a keto brownie. The worrying thing is... I didn't feel restriction. 😲I only stopped because I felt I should. Does anyone here think that a person's height and frame size has an effect on this?

Liver shrinking DIET pre-RNY
Sleeving It Reel replied to Mariann812's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good luck, Mariann! It is exciting to know your surgery date is getting closer! That does seem like a long time to do the pre-op diet, but on the plus side, if you get really hungry, you could actually eat something substantial as long as it is prior to two weeks from your actual surgery date. I guess it will be good practice! I lost 12 pounds during my 2 week pre-op which was awesome because it put my right back into ONEderland! lol - I hear your frustration about the office foodies. Before my VSG it was a daily battle to stay away from all of the workplace snacks. Now when I look at the jars of candy and trays of donuts all I can think is how miserable I was after eating that stuff and how much better I feel now -
Thats a little odd. i am 3 weeks PO and my #2's are the most solid thing in the world that its painful to go number 2 lol. Doctor prescribed stool softeners which i take but dont seem to do much. Try taking GASX

I am 3 weeks post op and the only thing that causes me issues are vitamins. So far the trick i have learned with that is i take it and quickly go to bed with a ice pack on my head and try to sleep a little. Takes about 15-20 minutes for me to feel that vitamin and i start to feel nausea but it passes and i do fine. If i stayed up and awake i would throw up

Wouldn't this be a meal for when you move to solids? I'm surprised your stomach will let you have it 3 weeks out. I can't even take my pills without being miserable for half the day.

Is this normal?
Hop_Scotch replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like acid reflux. Assuming you are already on medication for acid reflux (most people need to take it for about two to four weeks post op), check with your surgeon/doctor whether you need something a little stronger for a while. -

I’m 3 weeks PO and I have the worst gas ever now and can’t trust my farts. I also have the runs every day. Maybe it’s from the mushy food or liquids idk. Is this normal?

When I take my pills in the morning I throw up and when I take my pills before bed I throw up. I’m 3 weeks PO. Is anyone else having this issue?

I'll give that a try this week and see how it comes out. I just saw a youtube video where someone made frozen salmon right out of the freezer using a nuwave and they basically just brushed on some olive oil and Mrs. Dash and then cooked it for 25 minutes straight, Since I don't think ahead to what I want for dinner usually I might just do that I'll probably try both ways to see if there's a difference or if I'll just keep going with the pressure cooker. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hitting Post Op Protein & 64 ozs Fluids

I wouldn’t worry yet. I didn’t meet my goals for a little while but my surgeon was happy I was making an effort & close to where I needed to be. It got easier on purées because I was eating g three times a day During the liquid stage I wasn’t hungry or interested in eating & was only managing two meals a day: a shake & some soup/broth. Was probably only meeting about 2/3 to 3/4 of my goals at first. -
You'll be fine, just don't do it again. It's 2 weeks of pain for a lifetime of health, just keep that in mind.

Today was day one of stage 2 diet. I had a 1/2 cup of tomato basil soup and some soupy instant mashed potatoes. It was spectacular. It's been 3 weeks since I've chewed any food.

Feeling depressed after gaining weight :) looking for support
ShoppGirl replied to Gretchel Z's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second speaking to your nutritionist. I assume you will have to pay since it’s been a while but it should be worth it. I would log what you have been eating for a week or two first so she can tell you where to make changes. I do see people on here do it so it can be done. -
Considering this procedure
KathleenCowan replied to carrielee's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
DeMarie, so glad your surgery went well!! Getting those laps in helps move the gas in the abdomen and relieve the referred pain. Great job! I feel blessed to have had no nausea and only mild pain near my incision sites. I'm tolerating my fluids well. I unfortunately lost a little more blood during the surgery than expected. So I'm still in the hospital as they monitor my blood counts. Walking the hallways at the hospital unit takes alot of energy out of me, but I get a lap in then back to my room to nap. I should be discharged tomorrow. I'm looking forward to recovering completely. But am revising my estimated return to work. I was thinking I'd be off 2-3 weeks. Now I may take the whole 6 weeks covered by FMLA. -
Water Retention on Pre Op Liquid Diet
summerseeker replied to Sunshine Princess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about any of the process, It works. You will loose and its not a race. Have a weigh in every week then you wont have the anxiety of the ups and downs of a daily weigh in. You are doing so well. Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back from me -
Saw Doc yesterday and guess I have to do 1 more visit and will schedule for end of June or first of July. I guess I don't have to do week of liquids pre surgery. We'll talk about post surgery plan on next visit on May 31. I'm still really nervous but not wavering back and forth on decision like I was. Really nervous about telling my only son. I don't think he will be in favor of this at all. ( I should be able to just eat less and stick to it and not risk surgery.) Course I'm imagining that response. Thanks for this forum. Any suggestions welcome. Still need to hear success stories from folks my age.
