Can't find a great tasting whey protein powder
Daisee68 replied to cbchvz76's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My favorite is Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate. The chocolate is very good and the vanilla even smells heavenly. I originally got the suggestion from someone on this board nearly a year ago now and it is still the only one I buy. Oh also I sometimes mix 1/2 scoop of vanilla with Greek Yogurt (Dannon Light & Fit Strawberrry Cheesecake and then the Key Lime are my favorites). I also will mix 1/2 scoop of the chocolate with sugar free Chocolate pudding snack. I just ordered the powder in Fruit Punch for a change. Will report back to let you know how that one is. -
After 6 weeks (one more week) I was told to have three small meals ( 3 ounces of dense Protein plus veggies if still room, no more than 1/2 cup total) and two small Snacks (string cheese, greek yogurt, 1/3 c of cottage cheese). They did say if we are getting our required protein we can REPLACE a protein snack with a vegetable snack, but likely we won't be able to do that until we are closer to a year when we can move up to slightly bigger portions. Eating after GBP ..... Concerns about failing
amartyn1 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So as I get closer to completing all of my testing for revision from lap and to gbp the reality of life after GBP is starting to settle in ... Right now I have had 7 yrs of barely eating.. Never feeling hungry ... Etc ( not that I ever went down to goal ). The last 8 months I have been eating a yogurt around 10 am ... lunch at about 2 and then Soup of some sort or soft food in the evening ( and gaining weight ) .... With GBP I've been told you have to eat 3 small meals high Protein , veggies ... But isn't there anyone else out there concerned , nervous etc about gaining weight and having this fail ?? Overwhelmed with food choices
heidikat72 replied to KittyCathy22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
check out the blog "the world according to eggface" - tons of easy great food ideas! other suggestions: yogurt, tuna or salmon packets (both come in a variety of flavors, high in protein, low calorie and don't need refrigeration so easy to take on the go). maybe try to plan out a few days in advance at a time so you don't feel overwhelmed in the moment of trying to figure out what to eat right then. -

I eat a variety of things. Sometimes i bring a small salad or some cold cut slices with cheese. Yogurt and a string cheese...veggie sticks and a dip or just some leftovers from dinner -
Firat of all 1 to 1.5 cups of food sounds like alot. I can't eat that much 7 months post sleeve. Second I absolutely snack. I choose healthy items like string cheese some yogurt or some fruits or vegggies

When will I stop regretting this surgery?
Myka99 replied to LadyJustice007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days post op and feel thankful that I have not felt nauseous since the hospital....I had a very rough day but had sense enough to go for a walk with my dog....wasn't far mind you but it did change my mood.....once you can introduce new foods I think you will find it easier.... I am new to this as well this is just how I feel....but as well I am in medication for depression since I had my son 11 years ago, which started with post pardom and they strictly told me not to go off them.....which is one of my goals way way down the road....it is hard because we used food for everything happy sad bored....Friday use to be pizza night at my house for my son and I, I will not lie and say I wasn't upset that he got yummy pizza and I ate a yogurt lol....but later on I will be able to have pizza with him again just a healthier version.... -
Pre-op 45 year old here...My first post
catalina_uk replied to Papiluv33's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yeah. I was given by my dietitian 4 options of pre op diets, 3 which were liquid and a last one where I am allowed to eat like this: breakfast: 40 g of cereals(daily ration of milk 200 ml) or one slice of toast(brown bread I eat) with low fat spread(sparingly only) +1egg+1 tomato(I do a salad of tomato and cucumber) Lunch is 50g of rice, pasta, pulses(choose 1 and measure 50g-not 50g of each) + vegetables as many as I want from the free veggies column+up to 175g of uncooked lean meat Dinner same I am allowed to eat 2 fruits a day+low fat/low sugar yogurt under 10g of sugar/100g of yogurt. I am not allowed any salad dressings or mayo. Only 1 tea spoon of olive oil, lemon/lime and balsamic vinegar and I can eat in reasonable quantities sugar free home made jelly+black coffee+tea with sweetener. In uk is different. I know it seams a lot of food for someone who doesn't eat anything but trust me it isn't . -

@@proudgrammy I am far from normal! So you had a couple of protein bars and some yogurt....no big deal...you are down 2.9lbs that is awesome! I am excited for tomorrow morning. Not Christmas morning as a kid excited but still..excited! I am really hoping to be at 190. That would make me very happy. If I'm not at 190 though I will still be a big girl. No tantrums, no wailing or sobbing. I promise not to tell anyone you weighed yourself. Your secret is safe with me No we weren't competing against each other.....but I can honestly say I'm hoping we both do great! I didn't get a chance to have a nap. That was my only disappointment today. I did score some new cool socks at TJ Maxx and a really pretty swimsuit coverup. I will post my weigh in tomorrow! Best of luck to you today and enjoy the rest of your weekend. -

A year out from surgery, what is your daily diet consist of?
Bufflehead replied to Gail Ann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I need to take off a few lbs, so I am in weight loss mode right now. And this is pretty much the way I was eating at a year out, when I was in full time weight loss mode. Here's my diary from Friday Early morning: fat free hot cocoa made w/ cashew milk Breakfast: 3 oz chopped chicken breast Lunch: 3 oz chopped chicken breast + 1/5 oz green Beans + 1/2 T. light champagne vinaigrette Afternoon snacks: small apple, Protein shake Dinner: roast brussels sprouts, curried tuna & kale w/ an egg baked on top After dinner: Greek yogurt, roasted rosemary walnuts & fig Totals for the day: 1,095 calories, 93 grams protein, 87 carbs, 13 grams Fiber If you want to see diaries on a regular basis, friend a bunch of post-surgery people on myfitnesspal, that way you can check their diaries every day ETA: at a year out, I was probably eating more like 2 oz of chicken breast at a meal -- at that point I don't think I could have eaten as much as 3 oz in a sitting. -

Unjury vs Genepro?
doppelganger replied to Freckles70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Genepro and my nutritionist has signed off on it having had other patients use it and their blood work is fine. There are explanations as to how they shrink the protein molecule using electrophoresis etc. All sciencey stuff, without it I would not even come close to my required protein. As for the claim that it is tasteless, that's BS! it's not too bad and definitely not as strong as Unjury, but you can tell it's in there. I mix one scoop with 1.5oz of cream of wheat, oatmeal or get a bigger bang for you buck mixing it with yogurt. As I'm sure you know, once you're post op you will not be able to drink or eat large quantities so whatever you can comfortably hold is going to be affected by how much protein powder you have to mix in. Maybe your nutritionist has some ideas or opinions one way or another about Genepro. -
Breakfast foods you love and are healthy
Deleted Profile replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Everyone. I can eat regular foods so I'm loving the ideas. I usually eat eggs or egg whites or yogurt so I'm looking to change it up a bit. "In the end we only regret the chances that we didn't take." -
trust me we all went through what you are experiencing I called my doctor I was so scared they prescribe something don't recall what because instead I drank prune juice yuk but I pooped then another 4 or 5 days went by pooped again stayed on liquids and I lost double digits each week because I followed to the tee what the paper said to do each week one year later I lost 80 lbs I gain a pound lose a pound no big deal as long I don't go up I am happy I went to the gym the first day after the hospital walk half hour for two months then the other half hour I rode the bike two months before I started to jog because my stomach was still adjusting plus I a eat today like a bird which I do not miss food I save on money I eat one yogurt in the morning no coffee until one year lunch for me was early I quit eating at 4 or 5pm but pooping will come naturally you will see no big deal plus every time you poop you poop what you eat good luck

I was severely constipated after surgery from the pain meds I was on. I haven't had any issues since but, I do take Miralax every other day with tea. I ate mostly any soup I wanted, mashed potatoes with gravy, sugar free pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurts, etc. For the first month or so, I really struggled with food. I mostly had soup and 2 premier Protein shakes. Now 3 months out, I'm able to eat my protein but I still supplement with one shake a day. Best wishes to you!

I puréed and added unflavored Protein powder to every kind of Soup I could find (that didn't contain rice or noodles)....cream of shrimp, lobster bisque, butternut squash, split pea, French onion, bean with ham, ginger Thai, Chinese hot and sour, Tuscan chicken broth, cream of asparagus, broccoli cheese, chili, etc. Also had refried Beans with melted cheese, soft scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, hummus, plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein Powder and/or Torani syrups, mashed potatoes with unflavored protein powder, homemade guacamole, egg salad, and pureed tuna fish with mayo and mustard. And of course still drinking Protein shakes through all the stages.

I buy plain Greek yogurt and flavor with them. Love them.

These syrups are a staple in my pantry. I use one every morning to flavor my coffee, and will also add a tiny bit to smoothies, Protein shakes, plain Greek or Bulgarian yogurt, and to ricotta cheese to create a dessert. I add the white chocolate syrup to peppermint tea. It's delicious. I prefer using just a small amount rather than the two tablespoon serving size so it will add flavor without being overpowering. The World According to Eggface uses these syrups in a lot of recipes, my favorite being the pancake bites. The flavors I've liked the best are S'mores, White Chocolate, Belgian Cookie, and Salted Caramel. I haven't been as impressed with the fruit flavored syrups. The Bed, Bath, and Beyond near my house carries World Market groceries, so I usually buy them there. They have the smaller bottles of caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut for $2.99 so you can experiment with them. If you're in the LA area Bay Cities has medium sized bottles for $3.99.

That's a nice find. Lately I've been using the Kodiak Cakes Protein pancake mix that I found at costco. Similar stats but made with whole grain wheat and oat flours which I prefer when I can find it, and I usually make it with milk or buttermilk to boost the protein another 4-5g. Either would be a good thing to put into the Breakfast rotation. I usually add a couple of turkey bacon strips or chicken sausage links to get the protein load up around 30 g for the meal, or top them with a few berries and greek yogurt. http://www.kodiakcakes.com/mixes/

I find you can add unflavored protein powder to just about anything. My favorite right now is peanut butter ice cream with pb2 powder and frozen fruit yogurts. Both have 22 grams of protein per serving. The ice cream has more fat and less carbs. I even made some home made dog treats the other day and found myself adding protein powder to those.

Intense pain 2 weeks post op
Kindle replied to Ruth1ess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I didn't start eating eggs until 3 weeks out, but it was at least 2-3 months before I could eat a whole one. 6 months before I could finish a whole container of Greek yogurt or a whole Quest bar. Boy, I sure miss that kind of restriction
