    NSV shout outs

I had my first post op surgery NSV today! It was so neat. . . i moved my daughter into her dorms today and then we needed to go purchase some text books. . . well the book store is about 3 stories up with stairs only, by the time we got up there and looking around, my poor daughter was sweating up a storm, me. . .usually i'd be there sweating like nobody's business right along with her, but there I was freezing and bundled up in my sweater. . . she asked if i wasn't hot, nope i was actually very very cold. . . yippy no more sweating like a sauna

    NSV shout outs

I had no pain what so ever. I had a NSV today. I went to Target. We don't have a Target where I live. They had some cute skirts. I have never wanted to wear dresses and skirts before I lost all my weight. I picked out a large and tried it on. It was too big. I looked and all they had were larges and extra large. That is a first. Usually, I tried things on, and I needed a bigger size and all the big sizes were gone. I didn't even think to look for a medium when I looked on the rack! The new image thing is weird. I was practicing my dancing with a friend. she brought out a full length mirror so we could watch our feet. I looked in the mirror and I could not believe that was me dancing. I did not recognize myself! I don't have a full length mirror at home.

Amanda: new picture please. I think I agree with you, I saw a pict of myself at Christmas and I cannot believe it is me. I look so young. In all my picts of the last few years I look so old. Just the weight off takes the age off. Even though close up you can see the wrinkles, it does nto matter. Initially, you think young. That is a big deal for me. I do not feel old now. I am full of energy, and no where near so achey as I was 50+ lbs ago. Wish I could post pictures. I am gonna figure that out soon. My own NSV for today: I crossed my legs at the knee. I did not even know I was doing it. My Husband noticed and commented. Woowzaaa!

    NSV! Yay size 12!!!!

Ok, so I've been rather down on myself because I fell off the wagon over the holidays. I didn't exercise for 10 days and didn't really watch what I ate, I grazed a lot. So I busted my tail and worked out really hard last week, watched what I ate and the scale reflected....nothing. I have remained at the same weight for about 4 weeks. This, for me, is a disaster as I was losing 10 pounds a month on average for 9 months! So, I started the 5 day pouch test today to get back on track and jumpstart the weight loss again. Tonight I decided to try on some clothes I got on clearance for an upcoming trip in two months, and lo and behold, the dang size 12 skirt went on and zipped up and was snug, but 12? 12??? Haven't seen a 12 in oh.....about 12 years! Hope the silly thing fits in 2 months! If not, I'd rather have wasted the 9.99 than have it be too small!
  7. You can't remember your passwork to LBT:smile: Yep, it's been too long. I really took a break in December and am now trying to lose the 5 lbs I gained. Don't let anyone tell you you can't gain weight when you are banded. Anyway, it's a new year, my 6 months bandiversary is on the 15th and I have lost 52.5. Will have lost 55 when this last 2.5 lb gain goes away I'm back to planning meals, staying away from snacks and will make another fill appt. if I don't stay on track. Bought myself a walking tape and have walked 4 or last 5 days. Great I know except my foot hurts like #@$#*&^:w00t: Anyway, I'm going to keep it up. My goal is to do a 5k walk by my 50th BD in May. My other goal is another 15 lbs gone by then. I know staying in touch here will help me reach both of those. Couple of NSV's to start the new year.... I can now take my blood pressure with a regular size cuff instead of stretching the BIG cuff to the max. I can get up and down with my beautiful grandson all day long and not feel like I'm dying. I can wear my winter clothes that would not fit last year. I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year and wish 2010 to be a year of great health and happiness to all of you.

Linda - WTG - YOU CAN BRAG BOAST ALL YOU WANT - That's what this site is all about - and we understand how exciting it is to shop and be amazed at the sizes you are getting - and it will get that much better when you get to goal.. We don't have either of those stores here in Cali.. Julie GF you are one of us and I am sure glad you stayed!!!! Yes the last yr hasn't been the greatest on your weight loss but you haven't gained - you have been in the hospital like what 3 times - you still are having major pain issues. You have lost (if I remember correctly) over 100 lbs !!!! WTG that's in it self is a great accomplishment - don't short change your self - You have gone from what 4-5x to a 2x - that's fantastic !!! How's your restriction - can you go an get a fill - what are you eating - I know exercise is hard for you due to the weather right now - but if I remember correctly you have a treadmill and some weights.. Get up and move - walk in place during a commercial - go back to logging your food. It will come off - another NSV - you are coming to FL - this is your 1st trip by yourself - come to meet with us.. I know it's hard w/all that's on your plate right now - but GF you can do it - get back to eating healthy - and try and get some extra movement in each day - drink your water.. Krogers is a Ralph's here in Cali - I have the Quaker Oats brand you should beable to find those any where.. I may need a fill - I ate my 1.5 cup serving this morning at 8:30 and I was starving by lunch and can't say I was really full from them and they were thick.. Cheri - you had me me cracking up with My goal is to stay normal (not talking psychologically, LOL). And I gotta correct you in something that's a pet peeve w/me and I don't mean to be rude or anything A pound of muscle weighs just as much as a pound of fat - the diff is that a pound of fat is a larger size than a pound of muscle The size of the object is diff not the weight... A pound is a pound.. ie a pound of cotton balls would take up a large cardboard box - where as a pound of muscle fits in a shoe box - but it's still just a pound.. I can be very literal at times - again no offense meant - it's just one of those sayings that I know isn't a true statement.. Yes your body is reshaping cuz that fat took up a lot of space and you are losing it - and yes a size 12 is a normal size and I am glad that you are comfortable and happy where you are - you have made a great diff in the quality and hopefully the quanity of the yrs you have left. Ok gotta go feed the dogs and me :0) CBL

I came back on cause I can't believe I forgot to brag about my purchases last week. Remember, I went shopping at a mall last Wednes. after my fill -- when I went to Victoria's Secret to buy bras. Well, Younkers was practically next door and they were having trememdous sales - plus I had printed off some good coupons as well. I tried on some jeans and some other things and wanted to buy a few items -- well, I couldn't find a cashier -- mall wasn't very busy and most of the cashier areas were closed - I finally found one and there were at least 10 people in line. At that point the weather was getting nasty (snowing pretty good) and I felt I shouldn't risk standing in line half an hour, so I threw the clothes down and left. Well, I got to thinking later that night about shopping on line -- got on line and found all the clothes I wanted - was able to use my coupons just like in the store -- didn't even have to pay shipping with one of my coupons -- and voila! they came today! Got a fabulous boiled wool jacket (size 12 petite in a gorgeous blue color) -- tag says $98 but paid only $19.99. Got 2 pair of Gloria Vanderbelt jeans (size 12 petite) for $17.99 from $38 and a another nice shirt for 70% off -- altogether I think $250 worth for under $100 -- so I was proud -- DH always says, "gee, you save me so much money by shopping!" But you gotta buy things when the prices are like that!! I had to try on the clothes at the store, cause I had no idea what sizes I would wear -- I was shocked at the size 12 in the jacket and the jeans -- jeans with a zipper!! That's a major NSV for me!! Sorry if it sounds like bragging but had to share! Linda

    Twenties NSVs

I had a great NSV over the weekend. A friend of my got me a gift care to Aeropostale. The first thing that went through my mind was this gift card is going to go to my husband because there is no way i am going to fit anything in that store. Well i decided to go on line to check out their stuff. I found a few things that i liked so i decided order i figured they would fit after i lost a few more pounds ( i was told that the xl fitt like a med). So they arrived over the weekend. I decided to see how they would fit and how much i would need to lose ( i orders and xl and 15/16 pant). Well they fit like the were made for me. My friend wheres a large from this place and i think she is very thin so for me to fit into a xl from here was such a suprise. I have been fitting into a size 16 and xl top from other places but never thought i would fit into cloths from here until i got thiner.

    I am FREEZING

I was always hot before surgery too. When I started the presurgery diet, and was losing weight fast, I became cold...and I'm still cold. My theory is the body metabolism slows down because it thinks is starving. I am 3 1/2 months post surgery and I am still cold. I wear wool socks, 3 layers of clothes, and sometimes even a hat. It's one I got years ago in Alaska, and it makes me laugh when I put it on because that's where I feel like I am...especially these past few days. It's supposed to be 17 degrees with the wind chill here in Southwest Louisiana tonight. I can deal with the cold in exchange for all the weight loss! I am stoked...it is hard to believe. At our family christmas dinner, as people arrived I noticed everyone looking at me with that look that says...hmmmm...something is different...but no one "got it". So I did not tell them. Mischievous me! Next time they see me, I think they will realize, because I can now see that I have cheek bones in my face...(and I feel "cheek" bones when I sit. Lots of NSV's.:thumbup:
  13. You'd be amazed how much room they really have in them. Not only are they cute, but they can fly. My husband tracks his & has a blast. Of course, if I buy another one, he will kill me. I guess my NSV will be feeling cute and sassy while driving it!
  14. One of the NSVs that I will be glad to experience will be the ability to get a smaller car. I've been so big that I could only drive a big one, for comfort. A Cooper sounds nice...they are so cute.

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Way to go, Humming Bird!:frown: I had a strange NSV the other day that I never realized was weight-related! I walked my son to school in the snow, and when I walked back home, I noticed that my footprints from earlier were straight, not splayed out to the side like a duck. All my life I was a tiny bit embarrassed about how my footprints showed how my feet went way out to the sides. But they don't now. It must have been from all the weight! Who knew?! :w00t:
  16. i stalled a little at the 8 week mark also then things just settled down and i started losing fast. i am 8 months out and 122 pounds down. look for the nsv's - rings are looser, bras and panties looser. lock that scale up girl. i was an obsessive weigher in the beginning but i had to quit. now i just weigh when i go to support group or to my md's. good luck!

how great is that stoongal. . .those are the NSV's i can't wait for! I think i had one today too, as i was sitting in the doctors office waiting on my vitamins and minerals order, a man sat down beside me and started up a conversation.. . he said you look good, have you lost a lot? I told him 20 lbs today, he asked when i was sleeved, when i told him 9 days ago, he nearly fell out of the chair, the look on his face was amazing. . .he just stared and kept saying you look so good! I could feel myself super blushing cause i haven't had a man say that to me in a good long while!

    NSV shout outs

Tiffy, I am looking so forward to displacing enough water I can float in the tub! Wow, so great! But tonight in prep for my trip back to MX with my family, I soaked in the bathtub, something I haven't been able to do for a very long time, due to being so very heavy and with 2 knee replacements in 08. But I was able to get in and out gracefully, even knelt on the one knee that was done first to get out and it wasn't so bad as I thought it would be! Not a biggie for an NSV, but I almost cried with relief that I can bathe again and not just shower all the time!

Bill - that NSV is awesome ! ! ! Carolyn - that is exactly what I was thinking when I posted that one. It's not always the numbers on the scale. It's the little victories that feel the best. It's realizing something that never happened before, and thinking "wow, I can actually do that now."

    Better than a joke!

What a great NSV! I know the docs I saw would push the RNY more for the people with diabetes...one said it's because diabetes is so serious and the RNY cures diabetes so quickly. My doc left it up to me. Glad it's going so well for you! -BG

    Kate's "The Works" special

LOL! My partner, Chris, says he's never known anyone who can survive on as little sleep as I do. I work away on the mines and am always up by 4:45am when at work, so if I make 5:30am at home, that's a real sleep in. I'm usually in bed by 10pm but will be up again between 12 and 1 for a half hour and then again at around 3am. I never used to be a morning person but my whole body clock changed when I started mine work and I am now bouncing off the walls with energy between 5 and 9am (and usually ready for a nap again at 9:30, LOL!). My energy levels have tripled also, since I lost the weight - in fact, that's probably been the best NSV of them all.
