  1. Congrats on your loss. I too had the band for nearly 4 years. Went from 254 to 175 (at my low) and then it failed and I ballooned back up to 250 before I had my sleeve. I'm just 5 1/2 weeks out and I'm down 26 pounds...the last 2 weeks have been SLOW...but I know it's because my calories and Protein are so low. I'm sorry to hear of your dad...stress will do crazy things to our body. I was drinking way too much and gaining like crazy in the months before my surgery... I've got that back under control now though. It's very nice to hear you are still happy with your sleeve. I hope to be as successful as you! Crystal

    i think i hurt myself?!

Hi there... question... Should I be concerned?? I had surgery 3 weeks ago... was feeling fine... healing well. And i know I'm not supposed to do any strenuous things for a couple months.. however i had to move out of my house. I got some help... so I didn't lift very heavy stuff but I was lifting and packing a lot and going up and down stairs. And then i was getting something up high out of a cupboard and I felt a little pain when I stretched really high. and for the last couple days I've been feeling a little pain right by the port area. It feels kind of like it did the first week after surgery. I'm a little scared... i have an apointment in six days for my 4 weeks follow up. should i call the doc. I hope I didn't do any serious damage!!! what do you think?
  3. You go!!! I am post-op almost 8 weeks now and would love to view your posts!!! Congrats on your choice of Lap-Band and best wishes that you journey is a good one.

    16 days post-op

Sorry I've been away for so long, I've been enjoying my banded life! I had my surgery 10/1. Went for my esophogram and follow-up on 10/9. Everything went well. I found out that I have the 14 cc band. I started my mushy/pureed diet on 10/12. My God how great it is to eat again!! I've been eating all sorts of things, and I am so surprised at how little it takes to fill me up. I find myself eating 2 times a day, and I'm usually not hungry much before lunchtime. oatmeal, chili, meatballs, Soups, I even ate some cavatelli!! I go back to work on 10/22. The doctor's office was very nice and gave me 3 weeks time off for disability. I begin introducing solid foods into my diet on 10/30 and I go for my first fill on 11/6. My port area is still a little sore, but all of the incisions are healing nicely. The swelling has really gone down now and I can see my weightloss. And my clothes are starting to feel too loose!!

    Day 4 Post-Op

You are probably still retaining your surgery fluids, once you get rid of them you'll be losing like a jackrabbit! And then I bet you'll be posting good news week by week! Congratulations on your successful surgery. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I am schceduled to attend the information seminar next week and am looking forward to understnading this procedure more. I am really excited and cannot wait...but at the same time I am really nervous. This is a really BIG DEAL!! I am starting at 350lbs and am worried about side affects and what will happen after the surgery. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

    SEX!

Depends on how good you're feeling. I waited a week.
  10. Hi there! I’m just shy of 2 weeks post op from my RNY and I haven’t yet hit my target for liquid consumption. So I would say it’s totally normal as you heal that you find yourself full from meds. It’s only been within the last couple of days that I’ve been able to consume closer to 60 ounces of liquid.
  11. So my stall started at week 2 and lasted almost a month. I'm on the heavier side and expected quicker weight loss as a result. My high weight was 422, pre-op 408, and I gained 10 pounds Water weight in the hospital. Yuck. I quickly dropped to 387 two weeks post op and stayed there. For almost a month! Luckily, I took the boards advice and kept measurements. In my 4 week stall I lost 33 inches and that's ok. However, I am super pleased to announce that, on weigh in today, I lost 11 lbs last week! Yay! My stall is over! I guess I just want those that are struggling with stalls to know that it does end and you do lose inches. Just stick with it and be patient.

    Popcorn!

I've had this insane craving for this healthy brand of popcorn called skinny pop...35 calories per cup and only 2 ingredients: sea salt and sunflower oil...used to eat it all the time before surgery..I am now 5 weeks post op ...when were you guys cleared for popcorn?
  13. Does temporary restriction mean you are closer to the real thing? After my second fill, I had great restriction for about a week then it went away. I have another fill scheduled for Wednesday and I was wondering "Am I getting to restriction?" Thanks!
  14. Hi everyone I just under went the procedure this morning at 7:00 am. No pain necessarily. My left hand tingles from the elbow down to my thumb. Drinking water and sugerfree powerade. I am 51 years old, 5' 9" and weigh 275. My goal is 200 or less. I am on Januevia, Levimir and glucophage. Hopefully all those meds will go out the door once I loose some weight. The doc had to use staples to close the holes so I go back to see him in a couple of weeks to remove the staples. I asked hi if I could remove them myself and he didn't laugh too much. Well I hope anyone who want to respond will and who doesn't want to then dont. I hope to learn and discover somethings about myself and about other as I walk through this journey. Thanks for listening

Super hard to stick with it but def do the best you can. We have all been there. The most important thing I believe is to make sure the last week you don't break down and slip back into solids before surgery. You want to be as healthy as possible def helps with recovery! Good Luck!
  16. Last week I posted how I went in for surgery and the Dr. cancelled on me because I gained a couple pounds. Ok, that really sucked and I'm trying not to think about it too much and keep on with my program until I get a new date. That being said, I am starting a new job on monday. I am a Registered Nurse and work for one of the large health systems in the area. I currently work on a telemetry floor (heart monitors) and I accepted a new position at a different hospital in the PACU ( post-anesthesia unit), and this unit is also linked to the pre-op unit as well. I will be trained on both. My problem is that I realize now that this is the same hospital that my surgeon uses for his patients. I am overthinking this too much, I know. But I am worried. I am afraid of working there and getting to know people, and then in a couple weeks having surgery there and they will know (I've kept it a secret from most people I know except family). I am worried about seeing my surgeon there. I just feel weird about it. I also will feel awkward with the patients of my surgeon since they are going through the surgeries and I'm not (yet). I am happy for everyone who takes control and has the surgery and leads a happier life. But I am still mopey about being delayed. I had originally worked it out so I would finish my current job, and have surgery, then start over in the new place. I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I'm still struggling. I feel so off-balance. Everything seems off and I can't shake it.

    Can you exercise too hard??

Cardio 4 days after surgery. Weights less than 20 pounds 4 days after surgery. Weights greater than 20 pounds 1 month after surgery. Did Cardio (elliptical) and weights for a few months, then got into running, biking, and swimming. The #1 rule is don't "crush it" every workout. Leave some in the tank, and never progress more than 5% per week. It will build. I went from nothing last year (I'm about two weeks from my band anniversary) to biking 200+ miles, running 50+, swimming 8000 meters+ every month. Everything in moderation. The gains will come through consistent effort.
  18. Hi everyone! ... This is my first post to our community ever. I didn't think I'd be doing this but it feels good to have others to turn to when curiosity comes.. Anyways im scheduled for surgery 02/21/17 I have my final appt. With my surgeon on 02/13/17 ... I've saw many ppl start their liquid diet 2 weeks prior because that's when they were told by surgeon however I meet with mine 1 week prior... I'm considering just starting it myself at least 2 weeks prior to my surgery... Any thoughts/suggestions ? All is greatly appreciated ????????

Well, all the paper work is done and I started my two week pre-op diet today. Surgery is scheduled on October 3, 2008. YeeHaaaaaaa. After the surgery and I am on my way to a new and healthier life, I want to start a new thread. But I'm not sure how to. Can some one tell me how to do it? Thanks, LSL:thumbup:

    Banding in Aug

Hi EndoCollector congrats on your decision. I was recently banded and losing around two pounds a week. I had a fill 1 1/2 weeks ago. So I am taking the slow route but that's okay. It took a while to get to where I am. I can't say anything bad about banding yet other than getting a piece of dry chicken stuck last night. It HURT for about 30 minutes and then was all better. But it's not a mistake that I will make again for sure. Let us know how things go for you. Myra
  23. Hi I haven’t been here for awhile, I’m 9 months in and down 93 lbs. I was hoping to hit 100 before my appointment which was last week, I’ve been having severe nausea and vomiting, I have an appointment Gastro Doctor next week. I was Prescribed 800mg Motrin I know I wasn’t supposed take it but I started 4 months after surgery, I’m just hoping that I didn’t give myself an ulcer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  24. How soon is too soon to purchase a few new items? Is 4 months too early to buy new clothes in a new size? My birthday is in December and I was thinking for my birthday I can reward myself with new sized clothing. How early did you start buying new sized clothing? (3 weeks and 2 days till surgery.... YAY!)

    Trouble advancing diet

I actually told my husband today that I am just now starting to really understand how I can eat. I eat very small amounts every few hours. (I eat mostly Protein bars and a few times a week I eat a bit of "normal" food) That's what works for me and everyone is different. You'll figure out what works for you.
