    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Playing catch-up (sorry in advance for the length of the following): May Day #24 (Friday) >>> Treat Yourself: So I have 3 weddings to go to in the next few months. One next week, one in 3 weeks, and one in September. I didn't want to buy anything new for the first two weddings because I figure I still had a few more pounds to lose and didn't want to buy a dress only to have it be too loose in a month. Then on Friday I decided to eff it and just go buy something already! I mean, I lost all this weight, may as well show the bod in something that fits me properly. At the time, I was all "so what if I'm only going to wear this dress once"? Right? Right?!? Btw, Its size 00. WTF. HOWEVER... Just today I decided I'm going to stop trying to lose more weight...I think I'm done, I feel like I'm getting too small. So I guess I may just be able to wear this dress more than once after all >>> 19 Push-ups: Oooh...these push ups were a challenge for me this morning, but they're done. No squats or sit ups though. May Day #25 (Saturday) Get Grooming: Did not actually get grooming, but made appointments to do so the following week: Haircut on Monday, IPL for Wednesday, and henna my hair Friday night. 20 push ups: Did not do these on Saturday, I actually forgot to to do them as was busy running errands and preparing for a party at our place to watch the basketball game that night (GO RAPS GO! Btw, the Raptors finally going to the NBA Finals is a huge deal over here. The entire city effectively went nuts that night. And probably a respectable portion of the rest of the country too.) On another note: I reached my Weight loss Goal for May this day. I am now 127.3 lbs, which is 0.7 lbs less than how much I weighed when I first met Mr. 20+ years ago. He says I look much thinner than he remembers when we first met, hence another reason I've decided to stop trying to lose more weight. He also said he remembers my boobs being much bigger back then *cries* May Day #26 (Sunday) Create a Gratitude Log: - Um, no. (See "Start Journalling"). 21 push ups: Did 31 this day. I tried to make up for the 20 missed the day before, but only got in an extra 10. Good enough, I say. May Day # 27 (Monday) Write down what you love about yourself: EVERYTHING. (and even if I don't sometimes, I'm working on it.) No pushups - Rest Day: Thank goodness.

    Mammogram Required?

Got to agree with you there! Of course, when you get to be my age, almost every test has some sort of "caboose" to it; but I prefer finding these things out before I get to a High risk state. As an example: Chest MRI to check my aorta- Renal cysts Neck Cat Scan- thyroid nodules Multiple endoscopies- Bowing of Vocal Cords Repeated blood labs while PICC line in place- low blood iron- Iron INFUSION DEXA scan- yearly INFUSION to stave off osteoporosis worsening Mammogram- only one they found Nothing Else- what a relief! And all of these since January 2019. Trust the bailing wire I'm fastened up with lasts! LOL😝

I never reach my goal weight and went back to overweight . I am thinking that even if the gastric sleeve was the right procedure for me as it didn't help me with my overeating . as I isn't easy anymore as I don't have the full feeling as before. It was a huge decision for me to have that surgery, and I feel like I wasted that opportunity. I'm feeling really defeated. Todays last post: You had sleeve surgery in 2017 - another sleeve surgery five days ago????? I'm done posting to you.
  5. My cell phone charger, right before my surgery I bought a 10 foot one at Staples, Tomkitten teased me about it but it was very valuable. Also if they tell you to bring your C-Pap do it. But learn from my error, I didn't check,to see it was complete. My model wasn't the same as their house ones. Since I was 50 miles from, home, and had no one to,bring me the part missing, I had to wear 02 the entire Post-Surgery time, because it would have been difficult to drag it up and down the hall, I was room-bound, good thing,I DID NOT have gas to expel, I think OSU must pump it back, out at surgery conclusion.👈😝👉

    Pouch reset

I honestly don't think a 5 lb gain should require a reset, as long as he is sticking to his meal plan and any exercise routine he may be doing. Almost all of us will fluctuate up and down a few pounds (mostly in water weight). Changes in the weather, daily routine, exercise routine, life stresses, age......all of these and more can have an effect on our bodies. As long as he has not slid back to some old habits then I would simply suggest an extra 10-15 minutes during exercise for a week or two. Maybe change up his exercise routine a bit if he does the same thing day after day. On the subject of exercise....if he is hitting the gym hard and heavy, it is quite possible that the gain is from added muscle.....if that is the case, I wouldn't worry about it. If you/he has one of the scales that measures fat, water, muscle, bone, etc...has he been tracking all of that? I would recommend doing so if not, then you'll have a better idea of where the weight was gained.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Had RNY 2/4/19... did very well and no more freeking acid reflux!!! 64 lbs down since the 2nd week of January ( did the liver shrinking diet and to my amazement, I followed it ) and foamies 2xs and dumped once( over a damn Think Thin bar) and I don’t want to do that ever again.. I am great with the protein thing... middle to fair with water and awesome with watching carbs.. my surgeon allows fruits and I am now obsessed with my one naval orange a day and pineapple(fresh) and salads.. I haven’t craved much junk but I’m in maine with the kids and I really wanted some of my sons birthday cake but we had a house full and I didn’t want to be rude and be sick so, I didn’t.. everyone’s journey is different, I am COLD ALL the time and I have loose skin and a VERY wrinkly neck but I don’t care.. I wear it with honor because I finally did something positive for myself and I regret NOTHING... food was never the answer to my problems and I hope to stay on track and be a hero in my own life , not a victim .my Daddy passed on March 28th .. 96, he lived with me.. he was very supportive of my surgery.. the night he died I ate a piece of chicken too fast and foamies galore!! It was the last time I turned to food and I’m glad I got sick...I’m changing, I’m a different woman than I was 6 months ago and I plan to be even better next year.. this forum helped so much as I recovered and I’m so grateful!

    Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....

Yeah, no. That guy has zero credentials to make him an authority on that. It is a scientific fact that 1 pound of muscle burns 7-10 calories a day and 1 pound of fat burns 2-3 calories a day. If you replace 20 pounds of fat with 20 pounds of muscle, the muscle will burn 140-200 calories a day just existing compared to the fat burning 40-60. This doesn't account for activity level and other things in which engaged muscles expend more energy, too. This is also in addition to the activity burn when building the muscle which is probably 4-600 calories a week. Muscle just burns more energy. I find it unlikely he is burning 4500-5500 calories a day, too. Although, if he were taller it is possible. Not everyone fits into the little boxes everyone wants to put people in on this site. Some of us DO burn a lot of calories because we are large, have a low body fat % and are active. I'd put this guy in that category. He is probably burning ~3500 calories a day. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. My advice to him is to take the money (only costs me about $300 every six months) to get his BMR and body composition tested so he knows exactly what his body is made up of and how many calories he burns a day just existing, and with varied levels of exercise. I wouldn't listen to anyone on this forum -- and yes, that includes me -- I'd see what the numbers say from people that specialize in doing this.

    March 2019 sleepers

I had my surgery on March 5th, 2019. I was losing a lot of weight each week. Last week only 1 lb and this week I only lost 1.5 lbs. I am frustrated at going through this surgical process to lose weight and having the loss already slowing down. I have not cheated at all. I stay at 1000 healthy calories a day, 70 to 80 grams of protein. Only drink water. most days 64 ozs per day. What am I doing wrong?

    May weight Loss Buddies

My surgery was 10 days ago, and honestly I'm feeling pretty good. I'm getting my fluids in, and now that I picked up some unflavored protein powder, I'm getting closer to my protein target. The thing I became aware of today is that I have been slouching a lot. I need to work on sitting/standing properly, even though my abs burn when I do. Plateau

Absolutely, FluffySaysForkIt! (Love your name, btw!!!) Just waiting for my body to adjust again and continue on 🙂 I anticipate moving into onederland, was hoping by the end of this month, but, looks like maybe next month...and that’s okay, because without the surgery, I would most likely be where I was, battling with the same 10 lbs...constantly.
  16. My goal is 150, I’m currently at 168. I REALLY want to hit my goal by the one year mark (7/10) so I’m going to work my tail off for the next six weeks
  17. If you are following your team's plan for you for food amounts and stages you'll be just fine. I gained weight, 10 pounds, from the IVs in the hospital, so it took me a week to lose the water weight. At 10 days out I was still on protein shakes only, no food, so I don't know about that. I would measure and weigh everything, and only eat the amount you're allowed to eat. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Hello all! So I’m 10 days post op, vertical sleeve (5-16-19) and I don’t know how much weight I should be losing per day. I freaked out yesterday because my scale went up. I was 352 to 359 but I really am not eating much. I’m drinking a lot of water but as for pureed foods, I’m having about an oz of ground chicken with a tbsp of chunky salsa (without added sugar) or 1/4 oz of refried beans as a snack plus the protein shakes around my 5th snack. Today I weighed myself and I’m back to 353 but I have to admit, I’m going through it! I’m freaking out afraid that I’m failing at this! I also don’t have much support. My husband doesn’t want to hear my whining, and I can’t talk to my friends because they aren’t obese. I’m feeling all the emotions now. Also, I’m not really feeling full. I just stop eating the moment I feel gassy, and wondering if that’s normal. Not to mention, my BM is odd, I’ve used the bathroom just twice this week. TMI. I’m sorry. I hope I’m not the only one experiencing this! I hope it gets better as the time goes and I do see this weight come off. The pain and the emotional adjusting has to be worth it. Sigh :’(. And yes, I’m feeling a bit depressed. I’m just faking it as much as I can. I’m such a social person and life is around food and it no longer is. Plus mg bday is on Wednesday and I already know I’ll be alone and bored af cause I don’t know what to do without food!!! Sorry for the rant. Thank you for reading! Xoxo

What is a NOLA gal like you doing in Viet Jam? Is it business or a pleasure trip? Don't know if I could go there or not, I'm sure it is TRULY beautiful in 2019. ME----- I remember the Viet Nam War,too strongly, just my hangup, I probably wouldn't visit the EUROPEAN concentration camps either, I avoid locations of human suffering.
  20. June 26th is my tentative date, depending on how fast my insurance approves. Otherwise, my date will be July 2. Left side pain

I had revision from sleeve to bypass 5/21/19. I'm having a lot of pain in my lower left side. Is this a common complaint? Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Oh yeah Baby, I am the Queen of All that- June 12th will be either my 12th or 13th lifetime, 10 after my RNY bypass with the strictures and jejunal ulcerations, This should be the last, if it is not at the desirablecstate surgery may be ahead. They have repeatedly dialated, thought at first I was just with an opening that snaps shut but it was more due to the ulcers and swelling present. But it is what it is and will be eventually corrected, in the meantime my weight is decreasing, lost about.110 pounds, give, orbtake since surgery almost 10 months ago to,IT will be 5th of June 10 months. Not the journey I expected or was planning but it's still good and May take me where I need to be.
  23. Frustr8

    Worried mom

He had better consult with his surgeon. I have had many of those things and I am a bypasser with a stricture, food can't pass through. This is usually a gastric bypass problem but not all VSG are exempt. And if one variety doesn't work, tastes so bad you can't stand it, there are many others to chose from. The kind that works for me isn't one you commonly hear of. After 10 months of protein shakes one does become a connoisseur, I finally found one that doesn't choke me up, has flavors I can stand and doesn't totally break the bank. And lastly your son may have developed a temporary allergy to some of the milk proteins, there are soy-based, or plant- based, personally I don't like them as well but they are a total God-Send for many. There are always answers to every question, just not always easy to find.
