I am almost 7 months out and went in for a plastic surgery consult. I am going to need a tummy tuck and breast lift. I am down 105 lbs and 32 lbs from goal weight. The plastic surgeon recommends I lose an additional 10 lbs over the 32. I asked what else could I do to have the best outcome and she recommended pilates to time and strengthen my core. I went to my first pilates class yesterday and I think I am in love. Question. Has anyone been able to get a doctor order for pilates so their HSA will cover it? And if so what did the script or order say? My plan is to have my plastic surgery in December when I am a year out.

I’ve recently started RF tightening treatments (Thermalift is one of the ‘name brands’) on my neck and face. I’ve had two treatments and I haven’t noticed a difference, but three is usually considered the minimum and 10-12 is the norm. I was excited by before and after pics online. But last treatment my technician was excited to show me another patient she considers a huge success. The difference was much more subtle than I had hoped! I’ll continue to go for the 10 treatments at least. At least it’s far more affordable than plastics!

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
kokooned_butterfly replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If monitoring my diet for life means a healthy lifestyle and extra time spent with my family then so be it. I made myself unhealthy with the food that I chose to over indulge in. I am currently 12 days post op from my bypass and I do not regret it. I spent my mother's day on a liquid diet (Optifast) and Memorial Day, I spent recovering from my bypass and on a pureed diet. I've studied this surgery for the past 10 years, contemplating until I was at my highest weight, miserable and unable to play with my kids. 18 months ago I began my journey to get healthy. I lost 85 pounds on my own but with a high BMI and still morbidly obese, I joined a Bariatric management program and worked through it and got my bypass. I'm clinging to every extra moment that I'll have with my family. I've enjoyed all the unhealthy crap, so on to find healthy stuff that still tastes good and share these new eating habits with my kids. To each there own, but I'm embracing it! Anyone with PCOS not lose weight after surgery
JanJan19 replied to Ruth9454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had these same fears! (about PCOS) My surgery was 5/23. My pre-op was 10 days of no carbs & one day of liquid. I felt like nothing was dropping, but by the date of surgery I was down about 6 pounds. Coming home from surgery - I weighed MORE than when I went in. It was annoying but I knew I was pumped full of fluids & it would change in a few days. I'm now a week post-op and I'm down a total of 11 pounds. I'm sure some are losing more, some less. I'm thrilled with 11 pounds seeing as that's 11 pounds in under a month, which for me is good. -
I’m 19 months out and 101lbs down.

Waiting period for insurance... is this the norm with most?
Briswife15 replied to MysticHippie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yup. I have Anthem BCBS and had to do 6 monthly nutrition sessions, along with a psych evaluation. From when I first had my consultation with surgeon to the day of surgery it was 10 months. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I just wanted to post this, because I see a lot of people posting about how much its changed their life for the better or worse. My entire life I was bullied mercilessly. My brothers, my sisters, adults, and even still today. And it never mattered how hard I tried to lose weight, it never seemed to end. People seem to think ANY version of being pudgy, fat, obese, whatever they want to call you, is unacceptable. They think because they are thin, they are above you. But they don't know the emotional struggles we face every single day! Finding something to wear that doesn't make me look bigger than I already am, but also will be comfortable. Getting our of breath just to tie my shoes, etc. My best friend used to call me 'Fat F***' on a daily basis because he thought he was motivating me. But little did he know ever time he did that to me, I would eat my emotions away. Then I met my wife, now the mother of my child (Due in October 2019) who also had the VSG done and lost over 130lbs. She encouraged me to diet and lose a little weight before meeting the surgeon. I did that, and I had every single appointment needed for the surgery in 1 month and had the surgery two weeks later! Now when I see my bullies, their comments are 'You weigh less than me, i need to work out more!' or 'Great job! you're doing awesome!' but then I get the occasional 'You did the easy thing' but they're morons and do not understand how much work goes into it. Bariatric surgery not only saved my life, but took away my depression, my emptiness, my lack of friends, my heartache for companionship, and everything in between. The road over the last year has been incredibly hard with some bumps along the way but i've made it! If you are thinking about having this done and are reluctant to do it because 'you don't think you can' - thats a crock of s*** because I did it. I am a person with little to no will power and I give into everything. Bariatric surgery is a MIND game, you have to force yourself to do it and turn it into a habit. the doctors and nutritionists WILL help you, you cannot be afraid to ask questions. Anyway, sorry for the long story, I just want people to understand that every story is different but we can all triumph if we put our minds to it! I hope this is some encouragement needed for someone out there. Share your story! what was hardest for you? What kind of things did you take for granted now or before your surgery?

I'm 63 and will be having my VSG on October 1, 2019. Now, I don't know about you, but I get tired being asked about why I would do something "at my age." OMG! I'm in really good health physically. It's just this 4th grader that's been strapped to me for the last 20+ years that's causing most of my medical issues. My doctor says lose the weight, and most of my friends would ask why "at my age" would I go through this (if I told them)? I know my husband & adult children, as well as other family members and friends have watched my struggles with weight and "love me just the way I am." But I don't! I want to live a very long life, I want to be mobile for the duration and I want better health! So, age be damned! I'm heading to Mexico and a new lifestyle!

So since 2016 I have been approved for weight loss surgery twice ! Each time it was canceled due to a seizure I had ! I have uncontrollable seizures ☹️. I’ve tried so hard to lose this weight on my own I get 5-10 lbs down but that’s it ! I have 200 to lose ! When they were canceled I was like there’s your answer but I keep getting more miserable and my arthritis hurts I can’t stand or walk very much ! I have kids and a grandson and I haven’t worked in 4 years I’m 46 and want my life back !!!! Any thoughts????

Same honestly. For many years 150, was the number my body loved loved to stay at...and whenever I was able to exercise and diet myself to 135 I would feel victorious. I would love to maintain at 140 with 10 pounds (150) wiggle.

When did your weight loss slow down?
irol888 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 6 months post-op RNY (surgery was on 11/28/18). I'm just starting to slow down a bit. Was losing 10-15 pounds per month, now about 7-8. Averaging about 2 pounds per week. But my nutritionist told me I will slow down and that's ok. Time to stop worrying about the number and trust the process! Only regret is that I didn't do this sooner!! -

I was able to eat raw veggies/salad at 6 weeks BUT....I didn't really eat them regularly until 8-10 weeks- somewhere in there. Regularly meaning, a few slices of cucumber or red pepper and a few pieces of chopped up romaine some days. I have had a small salad with just a few ingredients also occassionally. I want to get to the point of eating one daily but just not yet. I have a harder time with proteins than veggies- except a few veggies I cannot tolerate at all yet. Just take things slowly and try one thing at a time when you are ready. Best of luck!

When did your weight loss slow down?

I'm about two months out, and I've lost about 52-54 lbs. (Fluctuating a bit). It seems like I'm stalling a bit now, but I know that it'll be broken eventually. If I lose 10 more lbs, I'll be below 300. -
When did your weight loss slow down?

I was losing 10 pounds a month pretty steady until about 8 months out. Now I'm still losing but at a much slower rate. -
My husband and I have been discussing the same thing. I'm at a 22 BMI right now and have approximately 15 pounds yet to lose before worrying that I am underweight. But my husband considers me underweight already and wants me to stop losing. But I'm not sure how to make it stop. Doesn't the weight come off during the honeymoon phase no matter what we eat? Thats how people get into the trap of "I lost all this weight after surgery eating XYZ so I must be doing something right" Right now I don't always track my food but when I do I end up around 1000-1100 calories. I'm perfectly happy to sit and wait for the 10-15 pound bounce back. That will put me right back at my goal weight.

My Bariatric Surgery Book (written/given to me by my surgeon and nutritionist) says that I can eat that one week after my surgery. I had my VSG Surgery on 5/13/19 and have been been eating all of those veggies and fruits since 5/20/19. Everything has gone smoothly for me so far. 👍🏻 Omg really?!?!? 1 week?!?! I'm still on liquids &3 weeks later pureed foods so still not solids. I thought it was cause your stomach couldn't handle it??? How did your pouch respond?

When did your weight loss slow down?
catwoman7 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I lost the most the first month - after that I lost 10-12 lbs a month up until about month 6. Then it dropped to maybe 8-10 lbs, and so on....so a gradual drop. Once I got to a year out, it was crazy slow - maybe 2 lbs a month. But I kept losing for 18 months. -
a 10-20 lb gain after hitting bottom is REALLY common. Not inevitable, but it seems to happen to most of us. Could be we get complacent - we aren't as strict with ourselves as we once were - we're not weighing/measuring/tracking our food as carefully and constantly monitoring our weight. I know I sometimes eat things that I NEVER would have eaten during the weight loss phase. At any rate, the only way to lose it is to cut back on calories, unfortunately...
