How long are you missing work?

I told my employer I was going to file the paperwork, and they said "hang on, how about you get a letter from your doctor saying how long you need to be out and we can go from there". I found out I could be out as long as 6 weeks on FMLA and my doctor gave a letter saying I could go back to work on the 18th lol So they liked 2 weeks better than 6. I'm ok with 2 weeks. That's what I wanted anyway.

I love that blue colour too @GreenTealael. So fresh. Perfect for spring. I’m always fascinated by how easy it often is to date wedding gowns. Sleeve shapes, frills, fabrics, shapes, wraps. Can’t wait to see everyone’s pxts of their gowns. Great idea @Sophie7713. How did I miss you went to Kleindfield’s @ms.sss?? Who looked after you? Disappointed you didn’t see Randy. And yes, let’s push OOTD back up on trending topics. Food before & after & OOTD are my favourite threads too. Let’s get some of the newer forum members posting. Bought these pewter stretch boots a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to their first wearing. Love the reflective heel. PS. Waffle weave blanket twinsies @Sophie7713. I love mine & keep it on my bed all year round. It’s the perfect weight during our summer when I still feel cold.

    Absolutely hate myself now

you remind me a bit of my cousins. They are very picky eaters. The reason why you cant drink with your food is because you need that space for the protein and not to wash it away so quick. But i mean you can take a sip with your food. and while there are certain things that are off limits. once you are healed up, you should be able to eat what you use to but just less of it. I mean i cant wait to eat pizza again. No i wont be able to chow down 4-5 slices of a meat lovers pizza anymore but once i heal up i can have a slice of some thin crust pizza. But you are 6 weeks post op so you should be able to eat a decent amount of solid food. Just give it time. i know waiting sucks (I am the most impatient person in the world) But you will get there where you can enjoy those things again. As for your weight. you are the same height as me. I am 5'4. I remember being 210lb. That was when i lived in Puerto Rico. Back then i didnt think i was too overweight. But i sure didnt want to take off my shirt at the beach lol. But from 210 i started to quickly climb in weight and my shirt sizes kept going up and my pant size as well. you should be able to hopefully get to maybe 130-150 and you will feel amazing but we gotta get over this tiny section of our lives to get to the good stuff... Seriously just hang in there.

    June 2022 surgery buddies

My Results visit from pre-procedure testing is 2 weeks from today, 5/16. My doctor said to start the LSD (liver shrinking diet) tomorrow. I’m hoping for a 6/10 or 6/13 surgery date. I’m SO ready for this! ETA:  I just went into my Cigna patient account and they have received my paperwork for the Endoscopy approval and the Gastric Bypass surgery approval. They have a ‘service’ date of 5/20 which the doctor’s admin told me she was putting on the paperwork even though I am going to wait till school is out which is more like 6/9-6/13.

If you truly didn't need the surgery, you wouldn't have been approved for it. What you're feeling is part of the healing process, and it'll pass. What specifically do you hate about the surgery? Is it the smaller portions? The protein and water requirements? The fact that you just won't be able to eat certain things? If you're healed 6 weeks out, you can start eating regular food again. Go slow and just enjoy the journey of exploring foods again. Maybe talk to your nutritionist, get some therapy. This will pass, even if it doesn't seem like it now.
  8. Ugh, I'm in one right now. Going on 4 weeks. It's the longest and most annoying one so far, and happened at about 8 months from surgery. I had a couple week one back in November and a few much shorter ones in between. However, I can say that while the weight is stalled this time around, I've lost inches. I'm telling myself this will pass, and maybe my body is taking time to settle in before we tackle the next 10-15 lbs. I'm just continuing to do what I have been doing, and trying not to get obsessed with it.

    Absolutely hate myself now

Feelings of regret is completely normal and part of this journey. They refer to it as the “what have I done” stage. Our hormones are so out of whack for the first three months. You are not alone. I cried every day for the first two weeks after my sleeve surgery on April 12th. Today is the start of week 3 and instead of feeling sad, now I am in the angry stage. I’m sick and tired of my stupid food choices and eating the same boring things every day. I just want to eat like a normal person! I have to keep reminding myself that this is only temporary and part of the process. Have you thought about therapy? I think it would be really helpful for you to share your feelings of regret with a therapist. I saw a therapist for two years for help with depression and a binge eating disorder. It was the best thing I ever did. Unfortunately, my therapist recently transferred to an office far away and I don’t want to start all over with a new therapist right now, but I know that if I start to feel that dark cloud looming over me and feel hopeless again, I will schedule to see anyone for help.
  10. I’m 3.5 years out. Well first depends what you define as a stall. I went by the definition whereby: Stall = 7 consecutive days of no net weight loss AND no inch loss in that same period. By that definition, I didn’t have any. There was one week in month 3 when I thought i was going to record a stall, but I ended up losing less than 1 lb that week, and on “measurement day” (for me it was Wednesdays) i ended up recording like tiny fractions of inch loss in various areas. So technically, not a stall. But that didn’t mean I wasn’t semi-disappointed that week and that the familiar fear of regain didn’t rear its ugly head. And wondered, yikes! is this it? Stalls, excess skin and hair loss, the holy trinity of WLS fears. They happen to most more often than not, and become non issues at the same frequency. Stay in your calorie deficit and it’ll come of. You sound like you are taking it in stride though (vs panicking and suffering in angst)…so you are already ahead of the game ❤️ Good Luck! ❤️
  11. It seems that I am literally the only one who 100%completely regrets this surgery. I have never hated myself this much in my life. I was so obsessed with this weight loss crap for 3 yrs and now 6 weeks healed from VSG and I hate life completely now. I will never be or feel like myself again and feel I don't deserve anything good ever again. This was the worst decision of my life and I keep having ptsd flashbacks of wishing I had never done this..that I canceled when I had the chance. Why am I the only one who fully regrets this.. I can't be the only one in the world who regrets it completely... Sent from my SM-G781W using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Hi everyone!! I am about 6 weeks post-op. I had sleeve surgery on March 21st! I was just wondering - does anyone else find themselves steering away from meat ever since surgery? Like for me, meat is too heavy on my stomach. I’d much rather have potatoes and veggies than a piece of chicken. Is it just me? 🥴
  13. Too many to count. As you you get closer to your goal Weight you stall more.

    Nausea and fatigue after eating

I think im okay. The nausea went away. I think I was just recovering from being om vacation, late nights, no sleep and wasn't on my typical eating routine. I've felt pretty normal the last week except one day I ate some almond flour crackers and felt really sick after bur I think it's because my stomach didn't like it. How many stalls have you had in your journey?

I'm sure I had stalls, but since I only weighed at monthly follow-ups I never actually saw any. Good luck, Tek
  16. So I have hit a stall. It's been about 3 weeks and scale isn't moving. I know stalls are a norm but damn they are frustrating. 😂 I was just curious, how many such significant stalls did you come across during your weight loss phase? (Definitely more a question for those who are already a year or 2 post-Op).

    Worst Vitamins so far

I tried those too. Yuck! I just posted about patch vitamins my surgeon recommended. They are the BEST! Check out PatchAid.com. I've been using them for about one week and I have had zero nausea

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

I'm hearing a lot of people are having nausea with the bariatric vitamins. I wanted to share the BEST news. My surgeon recommended patch vitamins. He said the Patch Aid multivitamin for bariatric patients is all I need. I have been using them for a week and I feel great. No nausea at all! I wear one patch a day for about 8 hours and I have not experienced any side effects. The patches are less expensive than the chewable ones and a lot less of a hassle! The website is PatchAid.com. Give them I a try!

    BCBS Federal

I have BCBS Basic as an employee and was just approved! Was submitted last Monday and got a call about two hours ago so it took a week. Exciting! ETA: I got a call from the insurance coordinator at the hospital, haven’t actually heard from BCBS yet.

    PNW Recommendations?

Thanks for posting all this information ladies! I'm in Seattle and have lost about 150 pounds and I think I'm coming to the end of my journey. Weight loss is very slow at this point - I checked my tracking on My Fitness Pal and have lost about 14 pounds in the last six months. Hence, I'm finally starting to consider skin removal. I have a couple recommendations for up here - one in Tacoma (Dr. Pratt) and one in Seattle (Dr. Salemy). I think I'm finally ready to make the call, and will come back and post prices and information here. I'm also looking at a chin life - surprisingly this is the part I'm most embarrassed about. My family lives in Portland, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a price of $20-25k for the procedures I'm considering. It's only a two hour drive for me, so totally doable if the cost is significantly less than the Seattle Area. I don't know that I'd be willing to travel to Florida - I'd have a hard time asking my husband or mom to accompany me when they'd really just be babysitting and wouldn't be able to do anything but sit in a hotel room for a week. I'd happily pay the extra $5k to not go through that. Also, the flying after surgery. Even a week post-op I'm sure you're feeling better but still not great. I can't imagine going through the airport and a six-hour plane ride in that condition. More to come! Edit - I called DR. Salemy and they wanted a $100 consultation fee. Does anyone else thing that's weird? I decided not to book with them at this time. I was able to schedule a complimentary consult with Dr. Pratt's office (although with a different surgeon, as apparently Dr. Pratt only does face procedures) - unfortunately it's not until August. I asked if they'd put me on a cancellation list if something else opens up.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I'll be 5 wks on Friday, iv had a few things get stuck and it's uncomfortable for about 10 min really stinks, but iv eaten eggs, bacon, sausage, shrimp, crackers, iv even had a piece of thin crust cheese pizza, iv never been regular as far as #2 goes but it's never been pure liquid since the surgery either, your esophagus may need to stretch a little more we all heal differently. But I'm sure it will get better in the coming weeks. Good luck

I just had a gastric sleeve surgery two weeks ago. I am doing well. Of course, I am still on full liquids. I have had no problems but have had some diarrhea. I don’t know if this is normal at first. I sort of thought it might be. I hope things get better for you. Blessings.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi All [emoji3059] Hope you're all losing and feeling fantastic [emoji126][emoji1739][emoji16]. I'm struggling to eat at the moment and wondered if anyone had an tips on how I can improve things. I now hate the smell of meat, it makes me gag and after 3 tsp of food I quickly feel full, uncomfortable and sick. I have tried to go back a step and eat pureed/mashed food but the same thing happens. I am also still not regularly going to the toilet, it's probably once to twice a week and starts off normal but ends up as diarrhoea [emoji85]. I had me op 24th March so I'm 5 weeks out. How much food are you managing to eat in a day? I really appreciate any support [emoji3059]. Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

    First stage liquid diet

It gets better, I am 6 weeks post op and I can drink 16 oz in about 30-40 minutes now. Regardless, it still feels like I am eating and drinking all day. And, I am only eating 3 meals, sometimes a small snack like a babybell or string cheese to increase my protein.
  25. I had surgery on 4-5. I am amazed every day how ‘normal’ I feel. I am still on 2 tbs of purée and lots of fluids. I have good energy and walk most days. I return to work this week, thank goodness because I’m so bored! I am down a Jean size. As I put winter stuff away I am listing if for sale on Posh. I will not be wearing the same size this fall. Astounding!
