Hi Jen, sorry to hear you've been having pain. I didn't have a belly button incision. I have 5, 2 on the sides about an inch higher than my Belly button, then two higher than those and one right between the boobs just below where my bra hits. We move on to purée weeks 3 and 4. Week 1 is all liquid, and week two you can add yogurt, ricotta, and pudding. I been doling the ricotta watered down a bit with water and then added a tiny bit of protein powder for flavor. Found some Delish ones and have 6 flavors to choose from, which has been really nice. Im almost worried how easy it is to drink. I can take three regular swallows without any real trouble. I have my f/u tomorrow and will ask if that's ok. My one issue has really been constipation. I feel fine, but I know I'm not supposed to go 4 days without so I took some Milk of Magnesia today, which I hate. As for hunger, yes!!!! I've been feeling hunger pangs since day 2. I'm on omeprazole so it isn't acid. I've been taking some of the anti spasm meds, which helps a bit, it it definitely feels like good old fashioned hunger. Kind of a bummer.

We just got home. We saw stick it. It was a really cute movie. Bought Karah two outfits at childrens place for 20 bucks. I love that store. Bought me another charm for my bracelet...down 45lbs now. I did have a mocha chill which I regreted as soon as I took the first sip, it was way too sweet, but I drank it, during the movie. Bad me. But all I ate before going to the mall was a yogurt, and then everyone met up (kristen's friends group) at UNO's for dinner. I was good there, ordered soup...the whitebean and chicken chili , and ate like half a bowl, have the rest for lunch tomorrow. I think I'm done for the day...so even though that mocha thing probally had 500 calories or more....I didn't blow it TOO bad hopefully. NO popcorn at the movies....that was a tough one...but wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

Glad to see your tummy feeling better Kim. I hate to have an upset stomach and with those stupid antibiotics for the h pylori, my stomach is not a happy camper. With food, no food, lots to drink, not lots, still getting upset stomach. only 6 more days of it left. Still no "itchies" , but I am figuring I will be soon. I did fall into a marketting trap and buy the new Bryer's light yogurt with PROBIOTICS (ta-da). Made me feel like i was just doing a little more for the situation. And other than that, and driving my new car, I havent done much. I do have scream HOOORRRAAAY !!!! for no more mini van. I hated that thing. I have a Pontiac G6 green, with sun roof. I looooove my new car. I am a pontiac girl. Its fun and has a killer sound system in it. I drive around listening to "Du Hast" by Rammstein almost all the way up. Yea,,, they are a German metal band. But, I also listen to Enya cranked on the stereo too. Melissa, I need your tri-lingual brilliant daughter to translate it. I know half of it... but some words I cant understand what he is screaming at me. So thats me in a nut shell. I'm gonna call Dr B friday to see what's the status of my paperwork. He's got everything. I just wanna know when he is gonna review it and send it to the INS.

Portion size for puree stage?
Amie replied to amytug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1/4 cup is perfect for me with things like refried beans, chili, and egg salad. I can almost get 1/2 of cottage cheese and yogurt in. It's still hard for me to tell if and when I'm full so I have to measure so I don't get that over full feeling. -

So, I need to vent/complain for a minute. I am so ridiculously sick of liquids. I'm hungry, miserable, and it sucks that I have to cook for my family and I have to watch them eat. I'm a week and a day out. Sunday needs to hurry up so I can at least have yogurt and some mashed potatoes. Sry I just needed to B**&& for a min. Ugh. -

@@nancynew, I would start with yogurt, cottage cheese, or a blended soup. Going from all liquids to thick liquids was a good start for me. Scrambled eggs and refried beans were okay, but I could only handle about two tablespoons before feeling SUPER full and very uncomfortable. I soon realized that yogurt and soups just slide right through my new stomach and were so much easier to tolerate than thicker, more dry foods. Now I'm nervous to try anything new away from home! Good luck! -

I am finding this thread a little late, but it's nice to find so many people at the same stage after the same surgery. I had by bypass 6 weeks ago today. I have been doing phenomenally well until this week. I think I got a little too cocky with new foods and didn't think about introducing veggies that are naturally high in sugar. Two days ago I had peas and suffered a lot after just a few bites. And then last night I had a terrible episode after two bites of corn on the cob. I should have known better. Today, I'm taking a break and having just yogurt and protein shakes. -

Multiple lab blood tests, X-rays and then CAT scan (with yucky dye iv) and they ruled out lung clot. They did however diagnose me with Atelectasis. I guess a partial lung collapse common after abdominal surgery. Could turn into Pneumonia if I don't do what I'm supposed to. Big deep breaths, breathing into incentive spirometer (was sent home from surgery with this and I prob didn't use as often as I should have) And exercise until I'm winded. I have been walking 2-3 miles a day but at a slower pace (45-50 mins). They did not allow me to advance to the next food stage, Im still on liquids and yogurt. I guess this just got real. Breathing into a hose several times every hour (except when sleeping) for the next 7-10 days! It was so nice to read all your concern. I ❤️ this thread! -

Hi all Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. I have been doing well, too well in fact haha. I've lost over 200 lbs and my Dr wants me to stop losing and drink high calorie shakes. So to go back, 3 week after surgery i had that contained leak and was doing better after that, then I got cdiff which was caused by all the antibiotics they gave me in the hospital. That was a pain, alot of diarrhea so they gave me more antibiotics lol and I also took prebiotic and ate yogurt and took t ok me to get back to normal. I should say during this whole time I had no appetite at all and had to force myself to eat. The loss of appetite is caused by the cdiff. So in the beginning of September I was getting my appetite back but slowly and this is why I think I lost so much weight so fast. Also during this time my gout kicked in big time and my Dr said I could take naproxen but limited and I also take allopurinol. Well I only had taken 3 naproxen over three weeks then they changed it to celebrex. So in November I was wanting to eat more, I couldnt. I could only eat soft foods or Soup. Mr Dr ordered and upper endoscopy and found the stoma had closed half way due to the nsaids. So they were able to open it back up at the same time and boy does it feel good to be able to eat better. The Dr thinks it might be closing again and to stop the celebrex. The reason why I was still on it was the Dr said that even though it's an nsaid it delivers it in a different way than normal nsaid are in the body. But it should be an easy fix again. Anyway haha that's how I've been, not a bad time. So any good suggestions on high calorie Protein Shakes? Any questions please ask. Haha hope you all are doing well too. -
Greek yogurt and well chewed low fat mozzarella cheese sticks. Set a timer for 25-30 minutes. Eat very slowly. Don't forget no sipping with eating. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

High protein meal/snack ideas, Hair loss, overeating
Fred in Pa replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oikos Pro yogurt. 20g of protein per cup. Vanilla and Peach are my favorites. Mix with fruit serving or a bit of granola for crunch. edited to add: I also have used the 3 ounce proteins shots. The taste isn’t so good but it’s only 3 ounces and gives you I believe 20 to 30 g of protein. -

4 days post-op and feeling good. Walked a MILE today! Stopped to sit down very briefly halfway through and paused to stretch a couple of times. It took me almost 24 minutes, but I did it! My doctor allows sugar-free low carb Greek yogurt and sugar free nonfat pudding during this initial liquid diet stage. Today, I put sugar-free PBFit powder in vanilla Oikos Greek yogurt and it was amazing. I could not eat the whole container, but it's a 5.3 ounce container, so that makes sense! I am also enjoying the bariatric chicken soups for a little variety away from all the sweet flavors. -
June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!
nicolebklyn replied to gully90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey guys I’m five days out after my surgery. I feel pretty good- I’m very tired generally and have stuck to full liquids and yogurt and apple sauce. I have to consume very slowly and often pause to pace a bit - pacing and walking really really help! I can’t recommend them enough if anyone is having problems- definitely walk after each meal and even during. - I bought a small sized yeti mug which keeps my smoothie cool for longer and a mug warmer which keeps my warm food warm for longer so I don’t need to rush. I also bought these little four ounce cups which I drink water from. Those have all been useful. -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
WillowsKnot replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
April 16 is my surgery date. I am super excited. I am keeping a positive attitude. I have read about the signs of complications and am aware of them, but not I am prepared at this point for when I come home from the hospital. I have already started the pre-surgical diet, by easing into the full liquid phase. I thought it might be easier to do it this way. I made my last "big meal" a night out with my daughter. When we got to the restaurant, I found myself picking something totally healthy. Tasted wonderful, but was VERY healthy and I found myself very mindful of what I was eating and how I was eating it. It was then that I really realized that I had already made a huge shift in my way of thinking and knew I was really ready for this. Oh, I had broiled fish, steamed broccoli and a small side salad, light on the dressing. I do sugar free yogurt for breakfast, two protein shakes during the day and then eat a salad with some form of protein for dinner. At times I have some sugar free pudding for a snack. That has been my ease into the full liquid thing. I have to do the liquid phase for one week before surgery and then three weeks after surgery before moving to pureed foods. Best of luck to all of us! Happy loosing. -
ahhh yh 400 cals is really low.i snack during the day like a yogurt or fruit mainly. i have Cereal for Breakfast with soya milk lunch i have a sandwich using super thin bread meat and salad inside dinner i have meat or fish with veggies or potatoes sometimes i have a super light dinner like crackers and low fat cheese. if im excercising i tend to eat more that day like 1000cals so i have something to burn. other days can be less. everyone is different though depends on thier tolerance x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

I can not give you a normal meal day for me yet, i'm still on liquids. but, i was told by my nutrititionist to eat 6 small meals a day, as she puts it. I do eat breakfast, lunch and dinner... but i have a healthy "snack' 3 times a day. The nutritionist requires this to have Protein. I use string cheese, yogurt.. turkey rolled up and so on. I'm told with the exception of sleep time. I should never go 4 hours without eating, it will set me up for a bad meal choice. but like always, listen to your own doc or nutrit. best of luck to all!

When you pack your own Snacks to bring to parties and your friends houses, such snacks include a Water bottle, 3 or 4 crystal light to go packs, your own spoon, and a 6 oz. yogurt that will last you all night. That reminds me! I left my spoon at my friends house last night! Damnit!

JinTx replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I feel lucky! My appetite has returned but not much. For example today for bfast i had protein shake, lunch was 1/4 c Fat free refried beans and dinner was 1/4 c ricotta with 1/4 c marinara baked with a sprinkle of mozz but didnt finish it all. I did get hungry between bfast and lunch but 2 bites of greek yogurt and i was full. Maybe i am still swollen? Yesterday i made myself 1/2 servings and could not finish any of them. I do find myself struggling with head hunger in the evenings...wanting things like pudding or more beans but im not hungry just head hungry. J Banded 9/22 -

For Breakfast I am liking plain cream of wheat with milk and a little sugar free vanilla caramel coffee creamer in it, lunch I usually eat 2oz lunchmeat and either a yogurt or cottage cheese, and dinner I like chicken salad and mashed sweet potatoes. Today I had for lunch I had a Gorton's grilled tilapia piece and it was only 80 cal, 3 gr fat and 14 gr of protein!!! I was surprised it had that much. Anyways, a few of the things I have been eating lately. Oh yeah, I snack on the mini babybel light cheese's. What are some of your favorites? -
