I was sleeved on 4/27...I'm supposed to start pured foods tomorrow. What's the best thing to try first? I was thinking of having some yogurt.. Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

I didn't have a puree phase, but I ate (and still eat) a lot of geek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, refried Beans, chili, Protein pudding, etc. Everything tastes better with melted cheese on top (except maybe the Greek yogurt). A lot of folks like The World According to Eggface's ricotta bake. It wasn't one of my favorites. What does your NUT suggest?

I don't think so I can eat alot of soup and yogurt it's because it's a type of thick Fluid I think it goes rite through Here is my lunch today shared with my partner I had 6 prawns Sent from my iPhone -
Thank you, thats the other problem is never knowing if I eat enough, my typical day (without any screwups) consists of greek yogurt (80 cals) for breakfast, Protein shake (150 cals) between breakfast and lunch, greek yogurt (80 cals) for lunch, slices of cheese (160 cals) between lunch and dinner, and then whatever for dinner, whether its another yogurt because I have a new found high liking to it, mashed potatoes, or Soup (80-160 cals) and then I will drink 2-3 cups of coffee (16-24oz each) with fat free half, and a 24oz bottle of Water if I remember to drink it. So about 600-700 cals a day.

So I only had surgery on March 1, 2016. I am down 51lbs but seem to be veering off track. I am having a hard time with chocolate. I can not stay away from it, if I see it, I eat it. Same also goes for other foods. If I am home for dinner I eat whatever is put on the table to some extent. For example tonight, it was breakfast for dinner, french toast, eggs, home frys, and bacon. Well about 6 pieces of cubed homeys, 2 slices of bacon, and a scrambled egg I walked away. That is still unacceptable. The other night it was chicken wings, 4 chicken wings later I got up. I don't get what is so hard to stay away from things. When I am working things are fine, I pack yogurt, protein shake, some cheese, and a sugar free pudding and thats my days worth of consumption until dinner. I also have a hard time getting my liquids in, I think this may be the reason why I get light headed quite often when I stand up. I am 5'6 196lbs and before surgery when I was at 250 it never happened. Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc, anything, especially for the eating??

I had 3 children after my surgery. I had my surgery in 1996 Those were the days of opening you up no laparoscopy in those days. They kept me in the hospital an entire week. I found out I was pregnant made an appointment with my surgeon he chuckled and said be sure to take your Vitamins. That baby was born in 1998, she is 17 I was 39. My next baby was born in 2000, she is 15, I was 41. My last baby was born in 2002, she is 13 now, I was 43. All my girls were born healthy full term. I ate carefully. After my surgery I became lactose intolerance so I had to work harder to find dairy products I could eat. I can have small amounts of yogurt, cottage cheese and couple different types of cheese. My pregnancies after my WLS were a walk in the park compared to before my WLS. Just so you understand the how resilient your body is I had six children before. So after WLS it brought the number of my brood to 9 children. And I am still married to their father, we have been married 30 years this June. If anyone wants to know more about this feel free to message me or I will try to answer any questions posted in comments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First business trip since surgery is tomorrow
Talaria posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.5 weeks post op and I have my first business trip tomorrow. Fortunately it's a 24 hr trip to DC (I live in Boston), and it's significantly shorter and time and distance as compared to my usual trips overseas. Nonetheless, I'm worried not about what I'll eat, but about STAMINA. I'm friggin' EXHAUSTED. DEPLETED. Just so, so tired. I'm getting Protein and liquids in, but I go to bed at 7:30 every night. I know I'm still healing but I just feel so tired. Since I can't bring my Protein shake through security, my plan is to drink on the way to the airport, get a Greek yogurt and big bottle of Water at the airport, nap on the plane, and I built in time for a nap before my work event tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed I can make it through this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Having trouble getting enough calories in a day
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Thecloude1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have oatmeal? I occasionally make the weight control oatmeal and add Protein powder an/or PB2. My latest concoction is a packet of carnation no sugar added breakfast essentials chocolate and chocolate PB2. You probably won't be able to eat it all at once. I live on tuna, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, turkey, cheese, etc. To up calories try adding a piece of fresh fruit, berries, etc. You just may need to eat more frequently. -
Trouble finding a variety of foods I can eat well...
heather0407 replied to butterfly40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
try boneless skinless chicken thighs, they are a little more fatty than breasts but i can tolerate them pretty well! another favorite is plain greek yogurt, cool whip, some mashed fruit (usually peaches for me) and splenda or honey for a little sweetness. works great for any meal when your feeling tight but still has some great protein! tuna fish find a protien shake that you like. and Protein bars. i like cliff bars Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App -
VGS 2011 - Weight gain in the last year. Looking to lose 50+ lbs
JamieLogical replied to JenniferVSG2011's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My go-to foods at fast food are usually things like a grilled chicken sandwich minus the bun or even a hamburger minus the bun if need be. For packaged foods, I rely probably a bit too heavily on Protein bars, but still if you are going pre-packaged, you could do a lot worse. I use Combat Crunch bars, which are available at GNC (Cinnamon Twist is my favorite), but a LOT of people on BariatricPal use Quest Bars, which are becoming more and more widely available ever day. I saw some at a gas station the other day! And they are available at pretty much every grocery store now. I used to LOVE them, but they changed out one of their main ingredients and now they make me SUPER gassy, unfortunately. Anyway, if you are looking for Protein Bars, make sure you get low carb. Some of them have a TON of carbs. Stay away from fruit and nut-style bars like Kind. And Lara Bars and Clif Bars are also full of carbs. You want to look for something with maybe in the 3-10 net carb range (subtract the Fiber and sugar alcohols from the total carbs to figure out net carbs). Other quick things are greek yogurt, cheese, turkey sticks (like beef sticks but with turkey), turkey Jerky, and nuts (but go easy on those, they are high in fat and calories). You can get individual serving packs of seasoned peanuts from Lance at a lot of convenience stores. I love them! They have flavors like BBQ, Ranch, Jalapeno Cheddar... they make a great, quick snack. -
I finally tried it - two flavors. It's better than yogurt (which I hate), but still not great. The sweetener they use (Erythritol) has a very distinct "diet" flavor, if that makes sense. Though adding fresh strawberries to the strawberry flavor helped a lot! I also threw the red velvet one in the freezer to see if eating it frozen will help.

Scared out of my mind
leahhindi replied to haleymarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@haleymarie - what does your diet consist of? My liquid diet includes Soups, broth, yogurt, Jello, shakes, unlimited steamed or raw vegetables (NO DRESSING OR SAUCES) and skim milk. Yesterday, I reinterpreted the diet to include thinned out sugar free pudding. :-) I added something called GENEPRO medical grade Protein. It has 30 grams of protein in one tablespoon. It is odorless and tasteless and didn't even change the consistency of the pudding. I have been having a very difficult time getting down the shakes so wasn't taking in enough protein or calories and this is helping me tremendously. Thanks to this Protein powder, I met my calorie/protein requirements yesterday and I did not feel exhausted and nauseous. Now I am sure some experienced VSGers will tell you 100 reasons why this protein powder isn't "good enough" or "preferred" but right now, I have to get thru this and if a 60 calorie cup of thinned out protein 2x a day is getting in my protein requirements, I'm just peachy with it! -
Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
Killian replied to Killian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 2 weeks into my pre op diet. Doing well until last night...I had fish for dinner which is ok but had waay too much white rice followed by two apples and two Dannon Light and Fit yogurts. I was not even hungry. Need to get this "head hunger" under control. -
My pre-op diet was 2 weeks of Protein shakes 3 times a day with 1 Greek yogurt snack, sugar free Jello, and broth. I started early by drinking 1 shake per day for 3 days, then 2 shakes per day for 3 days, then the 3 per day just so I could work up to it. It was still difficult the first 3 days of it, but not as bad if I had not prepared. I'm 1 week post-op now, and still on this diet for 1 more week. I am going to be so glad to see pureed food lol. But I have lost 40 lbs so it pays off. Good luck, and I don't think it's stupid. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

Scared that this is how it always will be!
darinak replied to lyndsayt's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 2 weeks post op, i eat yogurt in the morning or afternoon u can mix a little Protein in that. Also if u have vanilla protein u can mix with fair life milk maybe add a bit of fruit for taste. Or i love vanilla protein, milk, a little coffee, and ice blend it and its a vanilla frap and it will keep u more awake. I went back to work on Monday had 2 weeks off.... After i got home yesterday i felt like a bus ran over me, but today i feel a lot better. Buy some prenatal Vitamins they are great for hair and nails. I am going to take 1 Multivitamin in am and prenatal at night. I was disappointed yesterday cuz in week one i lost 17lb and week 2 i lost about 1lb huge difference.... I was bummed but my RN told me that sometimes the body needs to process what's happening and then it will follow. Good luck! Stay strong u can do it!!! Dasha -
Stage 4 any techniques to meet fluid goal?
numeby2017 replied to yami17leth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on stage 4 as well and I admit I have this problem too I also find that I don't lose weight as fast when on solids vs. liquids/puree. So some days I try to do mostly liquid proteins/greek yogurt etc instead of 3 solid meals a day because it helps me lose weight faster and I get my liquids in easier as well. I am sure I'm going to have to get used to eating solids daily at some point, but it's a struggle and I play with it every day because some days I can tell my body won't tolerate solids but as the others said just keep track of try to get it anyway you can. My go tos are Fairlife milk in my morning smoothie and I try to drink Isopure couple times a day diluted with crystal lite or Syntrax nectar slightly so I'm getting about 60 grams of Protein a day from that as well as getting some fluids Sent from my KFSAWI using the BariatricPal App -

I need to do this, no matter what
Micoxv replied to Micoxv's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
6 weeks and a day post op. Solid food is still an issue as I realize I eat too fast...and then I pay the price. I got tired of purée and I almost skipped that phase. I still do protein shake and yogurt for lunch, some time protein bars (Quest). I have tried to join a finger food buffet during a workshop, but my choices were VERY limited, so I won´t do it again. Social time is an issue at work (because of what I can drink or eat), and I have dinner with friends tomorrow in a tapas bar. I already checked what I can eat and drink. I should be fine, but it may be tougher than I think. we´ll see. -
Hello! I'm 7 days post op today. My one week f/u app is scheduled for tomorrow. I'm supposed to eat an egg cooked any way I want before my appointment. If I tolerate it well, I will start soft/mushy foods. I'm allowed to eat anything you can smash with a fork and chew until the food has the consistency of apple sauce. I've been on liquids for 7 days and I ate Soup, yogurt, pudding (once), and cream of wheat (twice). I made salmon and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. Can't wait to try it tomorrow. (I did taste test both)...went down well but that's all I had. I just drank a glass of milk instead of eating more. I will say I'm having a hard time knowing when I'm full. When I have my soup or yogurt I just eat half or less but I haven't actually felt full...or hungry. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi, If you had the full DS, you should add fat. Full fat mayo, yogurt, butter, etc. That will help to 'grease the wheels'.

HIGH QUALITY multivitamins
JamieLogical replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been taking vitamins in capsule form, the ones recommended by my surgeon, since 7 day's post op. Prior to that, I was breaking the capsules open and mixing the powder inside into my protein shakes and drinkable yogurt. But I was cleared to start swallowing them whole at 7 days post-op. One capsule, three times a day. -
I'm so glad to read this thread. I am so tired of the Protein drinks, powders and shakes and I'm only 1-week post-op. I have to psych myself up just to make myself swallow it. I'm grossed out by the artificial ingredients, the foaminess of some, the texture of others... I know it's a necessity, but it's a struggle already and the only thing I'm hung up on. I move to a mushy-consistency phase tomorrow and am praising the lord for Greek yogurt and higher-protein soup choices.

5 Days Into Pre-Op Diet & STARVING
LipstickLady replied to Thickness33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat your veggies raw! You maintain more of the Fiber and it takes raw veggies longer to break down than cooked. Also, try mixing in a FF ranch packet or other flavoring into a plain greek yogurt. I loved veggie dip to snack on during pre-op. I am not big on sweet yogurt, and I love savory. I felt like I was eating real food, and I still got my extra Protein in. -
TMI : 4 days post-op -- can I have prune juice?
cdsjjotn replied to Kooky1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk of magnesia was what I had to take in the beginning. Once I could start swallowing pills, he told me to take duralax, I also add a Fiber powder to my Water and yogurt everyday. It helps Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
5 Days Into Pre-Op Diet & STARVING
Thickness33 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday (SUPER EXCITED), I'm 5 days in my pre-op diet & am I'm still starving [emoji26]. I'm just now starting to experience the hunger headaches. In addition to my 2 protein shakes, I'm eating 1/4 cup cooked vegetables as my snack & just ate a 6 oz of non-fat yogurt but nothing seems to be working until I eat my daily meal, which is usually dinner. Any suggestions on what else to eat to stop the food cravings [emoji120] [emoji120] [emoji120] .
