    Nsv!

I am almost 3 weeks post-op, and have not had movement on the scale for about 10 days. I know I'm in bandster hell, I'm still keepin' the faith, exercising every day (my 5K is creeping closer and closer!) and so I was really excited today to have a real non-scale victory! My coworker (who hadn't seen me in three days) said, "Wow! You're really losing weight! I can see it in your face. That made me smile for a good 10 minutes straight! It was just what I needed. Hurray for NSVs! :-) But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop looking forward to my first fill in 2.5 weeks! Ha! :-)

    20 lbs & 2 NSVs!

It has been 10 days since my surgery and I'm really starting to get back in the swing of things. If you read my earlier blog, you know that I was having esophageal spasms that hurt tremendously. Well, as the swelling has gone down, the spasms have almost fully gone away. Yay! I hope that means that I won't have problems with fills, but I will definitely keep track of it. As of today, I am down 21.1 lbs. I include my pre-op diet pounds in my total because it is all part of the process. I am a little worried that I will gain some now that I am eating solid food, but alas, that is part of the process as well. I had TWO non-scale victories today. I am a HUGE Colts fan and my best friend is a HUGE Saints fan. She mentioned a couple weeks ago that she was planning to wear her cute little women's cut Saints jersey to work today. Well, my XXL men's Colts jersey hasn't fit for months. I tried it on last night and it doesn't look half bad! YAY! So, I can represent! That is NSV #1. NSV #2 - I haven't worn my rings in several months. I kept telling myself it was because I was "swollen". Heh. Anyway, they are a little snug, but I'm wearing my rings (that I wore everyday for about 10 years) again today. It is only the beginning and good things are just flying at me!! Hope you all are having a bandtastic week!

    I'm here to help...

Good morning all~ Tightness must be in the air! Yesterday had liquids all day, then tried to eat a yogurt with tiny bits of granola in it- just air escaping the whole time. You know the kind that is not a burp per se but an involuntary air thing? After attempting 3 small bites I had to put it down. Just from that I needed 3 tums and another prilosec. I am drinking liquids fine. Only thing that I did yesterday was take a second dose of my allergy medicine. Antihistamines do "dry" mucosa and maybe that's what it is. Cheri, do you take anything? When DH is on call, I don't cook. The times when I have cooked for him- he gets stuck at the hospital until 2am. When I don't cook... he was home by 7! I had a cold chick fil a sandwich for him..LOL and some bean salad I made yesterday. He was thrilled to be home and glad I didn't cook. : ) My Dad is having surgery today. The urologist wants to re do the stint and check things out in the ureter. They are considering taking out the nephrostomy tube and they want to see if the tumor is shrinking b/c they cannot do a CT scan with contrast. (His kidney can't handle the contrast). His case is scheduled for 10 this morning. Fingers crossed. Melissa, I checked flights for you, cheapest is $350. I think you can do the drive! And we would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you!!! So don't bail and you don't smell! LOL Janet~ I hope your weekend goes well. Know that we are thinking about you! Julie~ hugs and have a safe trip! Hope you slept well. Eva~ Congrats! That's awesome with your NSV. Mine recently was being able to buy a bra off the rack and it fit. I was ordering mine online for a year or so. Those small things mean so much. Off to get Nelson to school. CBL... peas....aka laura

    I'm here to help...

Yep, quiet tonight. This is the first time I've done yoga in years. I don't do it well, but wow, it feels good. I am very stiff and yoga helps limber me up. I can't do all of the poses (back and knee issues) but I do what I can. Here's a NSV for me, I can actually sit on the floor and cross my legs. I couldn't do this three weeks ago. I can't stay in that position very long, but I can get there. YIPEE As little as I do exercising...I'm already noticing differences in how I feel. So I didn't eat all my sashimi today at lunch (and believe me, it's sooo much less than I used to eat) so I took it back to work with me and didn't get to it there. Now I'm having sashimi for dinner. Yummmm Prattling along here. Hope everyone has a good night. I'm debating whether to turn on the auto cad computer and work, but I'm might just read the diet book instead. later ladies Eva
  7. These posts are very encouraging to me. I've been stalled for 4 weeks now and am trying hard to stay un-discouraged! I did have an NSV - I was able to get back in some size 16 jeans that I haven't been able to wear for 6 or more months!

    Banded Bikers II

Have a great time doin the tail, that is supposed to be one of the coolest rides in the entire USA! I have been doin well here in Sunny Phoenix (supposed to rain tommarow LOL) weathers been great, mostly in the 60's. Got a run this weekend, out to the local Chilli cookoff about 50 miles from here and I am the primary road captain on this run so WE WILL BE TAKIN THE LONG ROAD HOME LOL! There is 57 miles, but home will be more like 90-95. not too bad for a in town run anyway. I have noticed that since i've lost 70lbs my MPG sure has gone up. Gotta like that free little NSV! Not Confident Enough

WOO HOO I fit that weight limit now! That in itself is a NSV!!!!! I kinda want the Wii fit also...but It is just so much money. I dont even have a Wii. Geesh Yeah Moxie...I keep lookin at peoples weight when they say how they feel they are huge and they weigh less then I do. lol I know I am big and I know I am losing slow. But I am healthy and I am thrilled with my slow loss and I would be terrified if I dropped super fast. My body needs the adjustment time while it is losing. Or it freaks out and does weird things lol Hang in there!

    December Delights 2009

NSV Alert: I went from size 24 jeans to size 20! I went shopping yesterday for some jeans and new underwear. I was actually wearing my old 26s that were literally falling off me as my 24s were still in the dryer (they didn't get dried in time before leaving). I went to Dress Barn, pulled a size 22, thinking that that is what I'd fit into. They were too big! So I had my friend get me a size 20 and they fit! I'm so stoked! I bought two pair, as I just couldn't pass up the ones with the rhinestones down the outside seams and on the back pockets. I posted a picture of them on my blog.

I'm embarrassed because this is such a pathetic NSV, but I figured if anyone would understand, it would be someone on this forum. I went to my family doctor yesterday for weigh-in and blood pressure check, and the doctor put the cuff on me. I immediately told him he put the regular cuff on by mistake, not the "fat" cuff he always has to use. But he said - I think this one fits now - and it did! Still a long long way to go, but this felt kind of good.

My first two NSVs this week! :w00t: 1) weighed in today at 247.2, which at 5'6, gives me a BMI of 39.9! I know that's still obese but it made me feel SOOO good. That means I've lost 5 BMI points since July! Thought it was pretty stinkin' cool! 2) I've been wearing the same one pair of size 24 stretch jeans since June....this week I tried on a pair of my old size 22s (which DON'T stretch), not expecting them to fit, but guess what? THEY FIT!!! :lol0: I am so excited. I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out and already I can see and feel my sleeve working for me. I've been working out (and actually liking it, SHH don't tell anyone! :crying:) and while I don't have the pickup in energy yet, I know that I'm on the right track to achieving my goals. Thank you all so much for your constant encouragement & advice.
  20. In less then 3 hours I leave for the hospital. I was excited to see I lost exactly 20lbs in 2 weeks on the pre-op diet. I'm not super nervous, but a little concerned that I am making the right long term decision. I don't want to regret this 20 years from now, but I suppose there's no way of knowing that today. I am confident that if I don't do something I will go back to my gluttonous ways. Even though I am healthy in every other way, but obesity, my previous way of eating and drinking was a fast path to many future health issues, social issues (withdrawal from others, activities and work), and most likely a pre-mature death. I'm keeping the long term call in focus, keeping my eye on the prize and pushing forward... I had a pre-op NSV happen 2 days ago: We are planning a trip to Spain in October for my 5 year wedding anniversary and this is the first time in my entire life where the thought of the airplane ride, the chairs, the clothes, etc...are not even a nervous thought in my mind.... The weight of those worries used to burden me and take away from my complete enjoyment in life. I'm reminding myself how those worries will be gone soon and that is what I am using as my anchor today to keep me very calm, cool and collected this morning.... Talk to everyone on Friday, when I'm back home!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the great support!!!

    Frustrated in Kingston

Have you checked for NSV's (non-scale victories) like gatorgal suggested - changes in measurements, the fit of your clothes? You may be replacing fat with muscle. Just the relative amount of water in your body can make a bigger change on the scale than the rate at which we lose weight. I too weigh myself every day too, but I look for the trend over time rather than each weighing.
  22. Newbie talk here....what is NSV?
  23. That's an amazing accomplishment and NSV ! ! ! Congrats.
  24. I lost 3 pounds this week! I'm only 2 pounds away from my goal! Woohoo!! It's interesting, this last week I've been eating more than what I was, as I am entering that period of bandster hell. However, I think that it bumped up my calorie intake enough that my body no longer thinks it is in starvation mode, and so is now releasing the fat. At least, that's what I hope it is. Also, this morning as I was getting ready for work, I noticed that when I hold up my breasts, instead of being all firm and full (rather than their normal hanging down near my knees! lol), they are wrinkly! I guess I actually am losing some of my breast fat, thank the good Lord! I was afraid these girls would never get smaller. On a NSV note, I'm wearing a shirt I was given last year, it's a 2XL, that was too small before, and it fits! There is a tiny bit of gaping in front, but not enough to not wear it. YES!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Mamadot, skinny jeans? WOOOOOHOOO!!! Did you sleep in them?? That is awesome. My latest NSV is that I'm in a size 10, even though the scale isn't moving. Yipee!
