Hello from Utah!

Thanks JanJan19! Not going to appeal to my insurance only because I found out that even if I did qualify that it is separate from what counts towards my out of pocket max... so, they only pay 50/50 and that ends up being around $10-12,000. Can't afford that! Thanks for sharing you beginning! 12 days! Awesome, I'm sure it's a emotional rollercoaster! -
6/4 & 6/5: 10 things I love about me... I was having a ROUGH day so I COULDN'T even pretend to try this ... But today is a new day and I 💝 that I was gifted with a new day (times 10) There... I cheated my way through that one. 😂 I am worried about my family, future & health. Rinse & Repeat.

Yes! I am exactly 10 weeks post gastric bypass, and have the same problem!! I'm still on protein shakes (complications) and it doesn't rumble and gurgle on the shakes, but if I eat any real food the crazy noises start. Very embarrassing! I hope we ger some advice, because I don't know what to do about it!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

How soon after WLS did you have Cosmetic Surgery?
sillykitty replied to DKG_WLJ's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had originally wanted ps 10 months post op. Fortunately my schedule didn’t allow for the time off. I had hit my goal weight, but then proceeded to drop another 15 lbs. When you’re 200 lbs plus 15 lbs is nbd. But the physical differences for me between 140 to 125 were dramatic. I lost two cup sizes and two sizes in pants. So now I’m planning to have surgery at 22 months post op, having maintained at 130 or so for approximately 10 months. As impatient as I am to have ps and get everything “fixed”, it was actually the best thing for me to be forced to wait. -
What medical issues have you overcome since WLS?
Carrot64 replied to Jemma23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This one is important to me because of my joint pain and muscle soreness I’ve had my whole career as a hairstylist on my feet carrying all that weight... I can get in and out of my epsom salt bath without worrying id fall and never mind be out of commission or die leaving my autistic son without a mom... I also envisioned some EMT without the ability to unsee the blubbery lump they’d have to rescue!!!... I walk faster, groan less upon standing... wear a freeking size 10 now and I’m gonna live my life to the fullest... I’m a better mom because I can focus on them and not my ailments 💜 -

I am suppose to have surgery 7/8/19 I only told my husband. Maybe after surgery I will let my sister and close friends know? Idk, but I made up my mind and don’t want anyone talking me out of it. Do what you feel is best for you. Not anyone’s business about your personal doctor appts.

Post-Op Food Consumption/'Stuck' feeling
ms.sss replied to Lost&Found's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
yep, this is what I do (even at 7 months post op). I time 10 minutes on my watch between every 3-4 bites. It results in me taking FOREVER to finish a meal, but at least I can avoid that pressure feeling (most times, at least). On the bright side, I have learned to appreciate room-temperature food. -
Help! Weight gain probs. Snack suggestions.

I also said “ I will never gain it back” and had a 16 pound gain my third year. (I worked it off) Weight gain can mess with your head. You caught it before it became a major regain. You can get this back down. Some of us can have a piece of cholate and stop. I know myself, I keep temptation out of the house. Maintaining I indulge within reason. Some of us do the pouch reset (liquid progression to real food) It’s a good way to restart healthy habits again. Some of us go back to bariatric basics.( Real food stage, Log food and stay within your weight loss calorie/macros, hydrate and exercise) Others change diet plans. (keto, intermittent fasting, vegan etc) Its finding what works for you. Whatever diet you choose; Logging has been the tool that helped me get the weight off. Post-Op Food Consumption/'Stuck' feeling
AZhiker replied to Lost&Found's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The hardest part for me is that the painful stuck sensation doesn't hit right away. It is hard to know when to stop eating, because each bit can feel perfectly fine and then all of a sudden I know I ate about 6 bites too many. Sooooo......I am trying to eat only half of what I think I can eat, and then wait 10 minutes. Sometimes I can finish the meal, but other times i know it is enough and to leave well enough alone. So hard..... especially with a lifetime of stuffing my face and never feeling full and never stopping at a reasonable place, Definitely a re-learning process, but the pain is a great detriment. -
Hello ... maintainer here, checking in .... I'm 16 months post op. I hit goal at 10 months (24.8 BMI), then dropped below it, and have maintained there (22-23 BMI) for nearly 3 months now. I agree it is a total mind f*ck to switch gears from being very disciplined with your diet, to having to eat more often and less strictly. I was freaking out a little as I dropped below goal, especially considering I'm less happy with my naked self at a lower weight . But my stomach capacity has gradually increased, so that makes it easier to get more cals in. But it is significantly restricted vs. pre WLS. So it feels like a good balance. I'm going to have ps at the end of this year. Until then I'd like to stay at in the 22-23 BMI range. After plastics I'll have to reevalute and see at what weight I'm physically happiest with.

Hi everyone, new here. My surgery was on 5-9-19 and I didn’t want many people to know because I got a lot of “you don’t need the surgery” so I only told a few close family & friends and my boss. But I complications during my surgery and they had to go back into emergency surgery on me and my friend that went with me told our other friends and when I got back I it seemed like everyone knew lol

So I was sleeved 4/25/2019 and have had a few stalls. Most recently I was stuck at 203-204. I always weigh myself on the same scales and nothing on. The nurse is still getting used to that. (I kid, I kid). So I've was stuck there for more than a week. Weighing every morning. When I lose weight it's usually overnight and I would see up to a pound drop from bedtime to waking up. I assumed that I would slowly creep up on sub 200 but instead went from 203 - 197 in one night. I weighed myself six times because I couldn't believe it. That was yesterday. This morning I'm 196 so there is my usual pound. Anyone else ever have a huge drop overnight? I haven't lost that much in so little time since I had malaria

I bought some gym shorts a month ago with no intention of every wearing them. I wore them this past weekend. Not at the gym, but around my father who was/is the root cause of all the emotional BS that triggered my overeating and self-esteem issues. He didn't say a word, other than to scold me for having a thigh tattoo he just now saw (that I've had for years). I haven't worn shorts since I was 10 years old because I was so ashamed of my thighs. I am now 30. So, after 20 years... shorts are back in the wardrobe.

Post-Op Food Consumption/'Stuck' feeling
renjenn replied to Lost&Found's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lost&found, we have the same Dr. I'm at 10 weeks. I don't know how many times I've wanted to cry because the "stuck" feeling hurts. Meats are the worst culprit. and sometimes cheese. I was looking for an answer about how long it will be that way. sounds like a long time so I'd better get used to it. Maybe its a good thing so I will learn to keep honest about the quantity I eat and the need to stay careful. -
I've been traveling for work so just hoping in now. I was sleeved on 2/7/19 My goals for this month are -Lose 10 pounds (that seems to be what I average in a month) -Do 3 sessions of Bridge 2 10K each week. I just started yesterday with my first session. I'm training to run in a DC Comics 10K run this fall. Good luck everyone with your June goals!

MINI GASTRIC BYPASS AND ACID REFLUX
UnderTheCaliSun replied to NYCGAL000's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I had severe acid reflux before I had my mini. I had a hiatal hernia too. That was fixed and my mini was done last year. I have since lost 120 lbs. I don't have any acid reflux, none at all. I may have had one small episode of bile reflux last fall but I'm not sure. It didn't last but 10 minutes and went away with a few swigs of mylanta. I don't take any medication for reflux but I'm prepared to take Nexium if need be. They sell it pretty cheap at Costco and I have a friend who gets bile reflux after she had her gallbladder out. She said Nexium works very well. As for eating, I can eat anything. I don't dump, I don't crush pills. I just eat very small amounts of food 5 or 6 times a day and stay on my healthy diet. I had a small piece of cake at a wedding and a cadbury egg at Easter but I have lost my sweet tooth so I don't crave that stuff anymore. It was really satisfying to allow myself a treat and find that I didn't want to finish it all. I just was not interested. I really love meat, veggies and fruit. I drink a protein shake every morning. I use a straw daily. I take my chewable vitamins and so far I have no complains. This was the best decision I ever made. My philosophy is that nothing is perfect. I can either deal with the health issues that come with being obese along with how uncomfortable I was and that I hated my appearance OR I can deal with the very few health issues that might come with WLS. So far, it is one episode of something (maybe bile reflux) and a lot of extra skin. I"m good with that trade off. I hope that helps! -
I just found this again-used have up,on my Journal. 10 RULES FOR HAPPY LIVING 1. What medical issues have you overcome since WLS?
MIZ60 replied to Jemma23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In the year leading up to my surgery in May 2018 I was diagnosed with COPD by a pulmonologist based on pulmonary function testing. I have always had some seasonal asthma but this was much worse. I could not take a shower or walk across the street without wheezing/shortness of breath. I was placed on 3 daily medications (Breo, Spiriva and Singulair) and still had major issues. I was also treated by a spine physiologist for severe back pain...it was to the point that I actually let this doctor inject my spine on both sides due to the severe pain that occurred anytime I was upright for more than a few minutes. I had to drag a bar stool into the kitchen to cook a meal and my husband was looking into a walker with a seat for me since I could not go anywhere due to the pain. I can honestly say that I thought I would be dead in a year... Fast forward to today, one year after surgery. I am still working toward my goal but my health and life have improved greatly. I am off ALL COPD/asthma medications with symptoms so rare that I have used my inhaler about 3 or 4 times in the last year. I can do anything I want with no breathing issues. My pulmonologist is AMAZED and he is referring other patients to bariatrics as appropriate. I can do a brisk, 2 1/2 mile walk outdoors with no issues. My back does not hurt AT ALL even if I am up and walking all day. I can easily get on and off the motorcycle that I so enjoy riding with my husband. I have not taken so much as a tylenol in a year since surgery. I am currently 61 years old with no health issues, no medication other than OTC allergy meds and my MV and calcium supplements and I feel 10 years younger than I did a year ago. As a nurse practitioner, I would not have believed any of this if I had not experienced it myself. Having this surgery is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. -
Wow, today's is a challenge! Here are the 10 things I'll say about myself morning and night: I love that: 1. I'm thoughtful and considerate of other people's needs and feelings 2. I'm a whiz with leftovers 3. I have freakishly strong legs 4. I'm a good listener 5. I put myself through college while working and taking a full course load 6. I'm kind to animals 7. I have a vivid imagination 8. I have the capability to express myself through writing, and sometimes even move other people 9. I'm open minded and tolerant 10. I gave myself the gift of WLS so that I could be the best version of myself, healthier and happier!
