Revision from vsg to rny here. Yet again, I didn't use anything. I had surgery, slept, woke up, walked around, slept again, went home first thing in the morning. I basically brought a baggy dress that just slides over my head, comfortable walking shoes and a small pillow to hug, just in case of a bumpy ride home. Of course, I always bring phone, wallet with ID... etc.

After my vsg, I slept in the bed as usual. i am not a stomach sleeper but a side sleeper. After my rny revision, I slept with a wedge, but mainly cause I had one. I don't think you need a recliner. I have been thinking about a tummy tuck, so I guess I'll have to cross that post-op sleeping crossroads when I get to it. It doesn't sound pleasant! lol

Vsg to bypass this December
kweenSash replied to kweenSash's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi David, Well I have some gerd with weight gain with my vsg surgery which was in 2018. So last year I asked if I can get resleeved due to the weight gain and slight gerd issues. and i was told in California they don’t do that the only option I had was bypass, So I went with that..my surgery was cancelled at 0100 last year due to my iron levels. I had to do the 10 week class as part of the revision requirements. So I’m all cleared now (this year) i plan on doing things way different this time around and actually puttin in the work..with my sleeve I didn’t workout or anything (I don’t advise that all) plus we were in the pandy sooooooo crossing fingers that I find things that help me along this new journey so I stay consistent but it’s all mental Honestly! -

No revision here but wanted to say bellow and welcome. Hopefully you get your surgery date and some relief really soon. -
Hello Seattle lady. I am so glad you found a doctor that is in your corner. I hope your get your revision and some relief very soon.
-
I never had a lap band (I had sleeve) but I have seen a lot of people on here posting with issues and most of them end up having to revise to another procedure eventually. May be worth doing some research if you are having issues.

Not near California but Hello and welcome. Also, your profile says your surgery is lap band. Are you doing a revision??

Vsg to bypass this December
David in Washington replied to kweenSash's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Is this revision due to GERD? I'm trying to make the decision between sleeve and bypass myself so any experience you had would be helpful. Thanks. -

Yeah I developed it in my teens too. No I'm a revision due to... GERD. I had Lap Band first. Zero Yelp ⭐ Do Not Recommend. I would be the incredible shrinking lady if I lost 180 pounds in 3 months, lol. The sidebar stats here don't really give the opportunity to show that you've had revision, but you can see it if you click to read a persons profile... if they've updated their info. -
Wow, my first wls was done on 08/01/2014. My highest recorded weight was 289 and that was underestimate. I am currently 215. I have GERD & 2 hernias! I am in pain each day. I work full-time and have insurance. I found a new doctor. It appears, he is in my corner. I have 2 avenues to pay for this revision. Remember that you are important and obesity is a real disease. Hiii everyone I’m Sasha. I had vsg surgery in 2018 and I will be having it revised to bypass 12/22. Looking for any surgery buddies around that time. I’m also excited to read everyone’s journeys on the subject so that I may prepare and not seem so alone. I hope everyone is well on this Saturday❤️

Hi guys. Today I’m exactly 2 months out and wanted to give you all an update! I’ve lost 43lbs. Since my revision to sleeve. And 23 inches all around. This is so much faster than I ever lost with my lapband. I still have an aversion to certain flavors and I can only drink my protein shake if its in coffee. On its own it sends me running to the bathroom. Which is weird. My dr told me to stop drinking the protein shakes anyway and that I should start getting my proteins only from meals. I think I’ll be able to do that even though I can usually only fit about 4 ounces (we’ll see) the problem is that I’m not really a cook or kitchen person so I find myself eating the same things over and over and then making myself sick of them. This in turn means I’m quickly running out of choices. I weirdly can’t see the changes in my body but I know that they’re there because I’d definitely fit differently in my clothes and differently into seats and things like that. But the body dysmorphia is real y’all! I usually take pictures at every month anniversary and when I look back at what I looked like from the beginning to now, I still feel like I look the same—which again is weird because I thought that the pictures were supposed to show me that I actually am losing weight but oh well. Luckily I have a therapist, so I think I’m gonna bring this up at my therapy session tomorrow. I don’t come on here often, but I do read every single comment that gets posted so I really do appreciate people continuing to post here and talk about how they’re doing…it makes you feel a little less lonely, so thanks!

Lap Band to RNY for severe GERD. I haven't dumped yet and don't think I will be a dumper. I gave up Celebrex seven months before revision surgery and have been fine. (RA patient here) I have virtually zero pain. Losing weight helps reduce inflammation and reduce the need for nsaids it seems. And you're right, you don't want wls induced GERD. It sucks. Meds won't even help when you get this type of GERD. All I can speak to is my personal experiences and comparing RNY to lap band, which I know is antiquated now but RNY feels completely natural to me and I'd do it again if I had to all over again and could choose from any wls. Best wishes! -

RNY here. Revised over a year ago from VSG due to severe gerd. I don't dump, I believe most don't and can be avoided if you do, as@catwoman7 said. Maybe that's why I don't dump, I don't really have a sweet tooth. Not sure but it isn't as common as people think. I can take any medication except NSAIDs (same with VSG, I believe). I really have no negative things to say about the RNY. It has been an extremely positive experience for me. Both surgeries are excellent though and congrats on the beginning of your journey. -
Hi all. I've been lurking the past few weeks, researching heavily. My insurance has cleared me for sleeve but I'm not as sure now as I was when I chose that surgery. My last hurdle is labs and upper GI. I'm bouncing back and forth between sleeve and bypass. My doubts about the sleeve include the risk of developing GERD. I see a lot of revision stories and I don't want that. My main reason for choosing the sleeve was to keep the pyloric valve intact and avoid dumping. It also seems to allow normal medication action - I take a number of meds. I'm creating a list of questions for my surgeon because I want to make the best choice but man, I must admit to feeling dizzy with all this information. It's a big step. I'll save my dietary questions for another post. Thanks already for the great information I've gotten from reading through this forum!

3 years post VSG to RNY

The antibody restriction was for everyone. No one can get antibiotics that often anymore due to the increasing problem of antibiotic resistance. Usually doctors would only ok a prescription every 3 months to any of their patients. I haven't had one since my revision. Going on 15 months now, not a sign of it. Thanks for the tip about D-mannose. I hope to never get them as often like I did for years post vsg, pre revision. That was miserable. I never linked it to my vsg though until after I get my revision and they totally disappeared. Makes me wonder. -

That's right. So strange. I had the most difficult time getting treatment because how often they occurred. "Too soon for another prescription for antibiotics..." Etc. Over 1 yr. 2 months now, not one UTI (I would've had 3 or 4 in that time frame pre-revision. I have no idea why the sleeve gave me constant UTIs. Never heard of it nor read about it so at the time, I didn't think it was connected. I honestly didn't think it was the sleeve until a couple of months after my revision, I was like... Wait, what happened to my constant UTIs? So glad there is someone else out there that can identify with me. -

I too had a lot of UTIs post sleeve! Isn’t that weird? And with the antibiotic restrictions post weight loss surgery they were hard to treat! Post revision I haven’t had one yet so yay! I’m glad I’m not the only one who experienced that with the sleeve…I thought I was just gross 😬 -

Revision from sleeve to bypass- questions.
redhead_che replied to lucielu's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my revision done with the same person so the diet was exactly the same post op. Bonus was I only had a 1 week liquid diet instead of 2. I don’t feel restricted or get full cues so I have to weigh every single thing so I don’t over eat. Because I definitely have got sick/dry heaves when I was lazy and didn’t weigh. -
Revision Sleeve To Bypass (With No GERD or Weight Gain)
redhead_che replied to Aliana Wood's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I’m not in this position, I was revised for both GERD and regain. But I self paid. Could maybe look into that, or a revision in Mexico is always cheaper. There’s a lot of people on here and tik tok that went to Mexico 🤣
