  1. My doc didn't give me a guideline for calories but I'm not getting more than 600-700. Fluid is suppose to be 64oz. But I'm probably getting 40oz. I've never drank much. Before surgery and as long as I can remember I would go every other morning and get me an unsweet 42oz peach mango tea from the station and that lasts me all of 2 days. My husband says I'm a camel. Now I try harder to drink and only Water tastes good to me now so I'm drinking what I use to drink in 2 days, in one. My docs protein goal for me is 64oz. Which I take 30g of GENEPRO twice daily and then count on my diet to get the other 4 grams. So I'm sure I'm exceeding my protein goals. Thank you for the encouraging words. I have never been one to need them and constantly need validation but this has been a trying time for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Your protein, fluids, and calories all seem very low. What does your NUT advise?

  3. I am so depressed. I am not a whiner or crier but I've been so upset this past couple weeks. I think my surgery is broken. I was sleeved aug 25,2016. I immediately lost 16 lbs before September came. Then my September weight loss for the ENTIRE month was 11lbs!! ONLY 11lbs! Those 11 lbs were the first 3 weeks of sept because I haven't lost a pound for the last 2 weeks! Every day I step on the scale and cry again. I know I shouldn't weigh myself daily but I'm obsessed and cannot help it. I use GENEPRO and get my Protein in, but fluids are not up to par. I eat 3-4 times a day and no Snacks except a couple days I snacked on a piece of turkey Jerky but once the bag was gone, I haven't snacked at all. I don't know what to do. I'm so scared this won't work and I'm destin to be overweight. I was so excited to do this and read success stories and looked at pics. I had such high expectations. I expected to be 45 lbs down by now. I'm only half there so I feel like I'm failing. Can I hear from some slow losers that have long term results? I need reassurance badly!! Is there anyone this surgery just didn't work for? Come one, come all, I need to know what I'm dealing with. Love this site, it's so informative. I've gotten more advice and help through this site from anyone anywhere. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Yikes. I'm 2 months post op and toss in a scoop of GENEPRO in my coffee each morning. Then usually have a Premiere shake as a snack at some point during the day. I don't think I'd make my goal each day without it. I hate greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I wish I were more creative.

    Protein shake

I like the ready made premier Protein and the GNC lean shake!! Yummy! Your taste may change after surgery I've opted in get GENEPRO after surgery which is unflavored. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Thanks for your responses, everyone! Northcountyr1, I swear by GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It's 30 grams of protein and only 57 calories. You can put it in anything. And yes, I was walking for the first four weeks. Since being cleared to do more, I also bike and have started a C25K program (run/walk). Have also incorporated some minor strength training. Protein - alternative supplements

I have tried the strawberry. Its a little to artificial for me. It tastes like capn crunch crunch berries, if you have had that before. Plus its like 220 cals for 13 grams of protein, which is a bit high. If you throw in some GENEPRO, which does alter the flavor a bit negatively, it becomes 43 grams of protein and 277 cals. The drink powder itself only has 5g of protein and 27 grams of carbs. Your actually better off having 2 glasses of milk.

    Liquids taste horrible to me!

    Liquids taste horrible to me!

I for one have had a very hard time finding a Protein Drink I could tolerate. I liked Atkins protein drink and bars also for a bar Iliked POWERCRUNCH. Finally after all of this time and spending more money than I could count on different drinks to just give them away I found GENEPRO unflavored Protein and it doesn't have a taste at all. Now I am a coffee drinker and I make myself a LATTE and whisk a scoop of GENEPRO in warm Water to mix it and then add it to my coffee. You can use this in anything you want. It has 30grams of protein in 1 scoop. I love it!!

    A few bites

We are so similar! I am 6 1/2 weeks out! Usually do a premier shake for lunch and GENEPRO mixed with something for Breakfast ( yuck) ... Yes- I only eat 4-6 bites. And I have also been stalled for about 4 weeks! ( well one pound last time I weighed - which was two weeks ago) total weight lost last time I weighed was 25 ( including pre op diet ) - wow! So similar Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Just getting started

I use premier Protein for one meal and then GENEPRO medical grade powder missed with something for another meal ( it's pretty gross) - the body can't absorb more than 30 at a time I read - so I do it at two separate meals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I loved cheesy cauliflower. Cook/steam cauliflower til very soft, toss it while hot into food processor, add shredded or sliced cheese, and whip it up. You can add GENEPRO Protein powder if you want to up the protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October Surgery Buddies

@@bevlydon have you tried Premier Protein? It has 30g of protein in a serving. I use both the take and go shakes and the powder and mix up my own shakes every morning. I also like Unjury and Genepro for unflavored protein and add it to other things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. @ Thank you ^^ and you're very welcome. I think I'll go make some coffee with creme with a tablespoon of GENEPRO. Have a great day all!
  15. @@kimini Thank you. Yeah, I love the product because before the sleeve, I had a band since 2008, and it was often way too tight and I couldn't get any solids down for months, just Soup. I was desperate because my total Protein... etc. was poor and I can't handle normal Protein shakes they are far too sweet for me. I started GENEPRO as practically my sole protein source during that time, and since then my protein labs are perfect (yay).
  16. They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. Not going to get into a debate about chemistry. I do that enough at work, but the weight argument is actually moot. There are scientific and clinical studies that have shown that when whey protein isolate is consumed along with ProHydrolase, amino acid concentrations in the blood increase by 20%, compared to consuming whey protein alone. I believe Genepro mention this on their product page and about the bio-availability is comparable to 30g of protein. There are several protein products that are involved in class actions, and Genepro, despite all of its competitors complaining about them hasn't been sued for product misrepresentation so until then, I'll continue buying the product because my labs suggest that I am getting my protein (Albumin/Globulin/Total protein blood test). Just my two cents.

    Genepro ideas?

I find the best way to prepare GENEPRO is to make sure the lid is on tightly and then chuck it in the trash. The makers of that stuff are about as shady as they come. They say their magical process reduces the size of Protein molecules! In their own words: They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. Protein drinks

I was sleeved on 9/19 and have been living off of Syntrax nectar (fuzzy navel flavor) and I put unflavored GENEPRO Powder in everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Genepro ideas?

I put it in a small glass of V8. Great! I make a protein shake once a day, adding silk almond milk, 1/2 vanilla yogurt, ice, GENEPRO and SF Hershey's cocoa powder.
  20. Just got my shipment of GENEPRO Protein powder after reading a lot of reviews and posts on here about it! I had a TERRIBLE experience with the Proteinx that they gave me in the hospital (it's liquid unflavored protein) so I was skeptical to say the least. Turns out I mixed it in my Greek yogurt and actually enhanced the delicious strawberry cheesecake flavor! Anyone have any great ways they sneak their Genepro into their food or tips? About to hit the purée stage so any ideas would be welcome. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I am going on a business trip to London for 8 weeks and leave tonight. I'm 10 weeks post-op. I plan to bring my GENEPRO with me but assume I can get things like Greek yogurt as easily as here? I will be in an apartment with a full kitchen so am confident I will stay on track but am looking for some reassurance that my whole world won't be turned upside down by not being able to find the staples I have relied on so far. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. That's what o do with my Genepro- because that " unflavored" sure tastes disgusting to me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I ordered it online. It was $30 for a container of it. Well worth it! It saved my butt. I'm sure you can get unflavored at GNC or something as well. But genepro is formulated for post WLS patients from what I understand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Where do you buy the GENEPRO or do you order it online? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. I like Genepro. Been using it for a long time as practically my sole protein source, mixes with everything. My labs came out great (i.e. Total serum, Albumin/Globulin) every time so I keep using it. In the past, I have written the company to ask for some data on a particular lot I bought but to no avail. As I said in a prior thread, maybe they just don't want to give out any hints of their purification process. I can understand that since their product is quite different than most protein sources out there. I use it when what I naturally eat that day doesn't hit my protein mark, it comes quite handy (soups, drinks, hot or cold). Nature's best Isopure (lots of other companies as well) was part of a class action suit for protein spiking and misrepresenting the concentration of their protein. Personally, I never tried the unflavored, so I wouldn't know about the miscibility aspect of it.
