    First fast food since surgery

OMG you are so lucky !! 😪 I am about 5 1/2 weeks and can't eat anything. I have been trying different foods chicken hurts, ground beef is ok, fruits hurt everything doesn't feel good. I basically just have yogurt and crackers plus I can only take tiny bites and then my stomach starts making these weird noises and it feels uncomfortable. I cant wait to have fast food lol or just eat like a normal person again

Crabby Patty Salad! Or really, crabby patty puree' for one. This is 2 ounces of imitation crab (aka the hot dog of the ocean), flaked up really well, with a generous squirt of lemon juice, a few dashes of some Old Bay hot sauce, 2 teaspoons of non fat greek yogurt, and my favorite thing that I just discovered: Amazon's very own dill mustard. It's amazing. Mixed all together and eaten with a fork. Next time, I might put it in a salad ring to feel ~fancy~.

I make my smoothies as I go. I learned using the Baritastic App some food choices to keep the calories and carbs down. I love sweet frozen cherries, they have less calories than using even a half of a banana. I use a little yogurt. I used silk dairy free but have to be careful of the calories. I use almond milk and plant base unflavored protein power. I add blueberries as well. It's never the same thing exactly just what I am in the mood for. I have to be careful not to make a big one like I use to. I even put avocado in it for the nutrition. You don't taste it. I went to frys and in the freezer section bought cherries they don't have seeds. I like the sweet cherries. Then I would get other berries and peaches. Tonight I had protein Diet oatmeal it was good and not to sweet. I added some unflavored protein and a table spoon of no added sugar apple sauce. The oatmeal was 15 protein and 7 carbs. It took a while to eat it but it was really good.

    Food Before and After Photos

Went to Flavortown on the puréed express with some puréed rotisserie chicken with some Greek yogurt and a smidge of honey mustard. I topped it with some mashed avocado. I split this into two portions and had it for lunch and dinner yesterday.

    May 2022 surgery?

I had some canned chicken (2 Oz) with a little sugar free bbq sauce and it took me straight to Flavortown. My surgery was last Monday. If anyone starts on puréed foods, go small and creamy at first. Nonfat yogurt, hummus, refried beans are good starters.

I'm not allowed any oatmeal, nothing with chunks. Fudgesicles, popsicles, cream soups, greek plain yogurt, protein shakes, crystal light, kefir are pretty much it. Enjoy the oatmeal for me please :)~ and congrats on the 11 lbs!!

That's funny you said that because I was thinking when I get to pureed I wonder if I could handle a few buts of pureed steak. Steak is something I don't normally crave. I normally don't have red meat but every couple of months. I eat chicken, turkey, fish and pork. I am learning to eat slower. I have always been a fast eater. I found eating slowly I can enjoy my food like I did when I ate a large volume. I was eating some yogurt and I took tiny bits resting in between. It was delicious. Learning to have a different relationship with food has been an emotional journey. I have never been one to enjoy cooking. I enjoying making my own creative smoothies. I put some avocado in my smoothie for the nutrition value and sweet cherries because I love them added my protein and some fiber, almond milk and non daily yogurt. I really found it tasted like a treat. Today I will make a different one with peaches and who knows what else. Trying to develop a relationship with food that engages healthy benefits. Thinking I am eating for my health gives it a different dynamic than to fill my comfort needs or just to fill up. Though I think treating ourselves occasionally maje it less likely we will cheat as much. Oh...I have sugarfree chocolate pudding, hmmmmm what can I do with that in a smoothie.

    Sugar free ice cream?

I recently tried halo top. It was yummy! I usually try to have a healthier option though for a sweet meal like a low sugar protein yogurt and no sugar added dark chocolate chips. I suppose halo top has less calories than that so if you just want a couple spoonfuls of something sweet without the caloric load, halo top is decent. Just make sure it's part of your dieticians guidelines. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Hey! I was curious if anyone is experiencing this or has experienced this in the past. I'm a little over 3 months post op and as I transition more into regular eating, I find that I CANNOT eat in the mornings to early afternoon. Like my body can't physically handle food until around 2pm. If I eat something before then it gets "stuck" or I get the slimeee and need to puke. Doesn't matter what it is, I try eggs, protein yogurt, beans, cheese, veggies, fruit, all of it gets stuck and I get nauseous for an hour or so. This has been a recent development...maybe the past month this has started. It's not a stricture because past 2 I have no issues regardless of what the food is and don't feel my restriction at night but I do get nauseous if I overdo it. So far I just drink a protein shake in the morning or just a coffee or water and then two meals past 2pm to get my calories and protein in. Idk it's so weird. Wondering why the restriction is so extreme in the morning. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Social eating after gastric sleeve

I got sleeved 4/10. I'm not able to answer your question precisely but I'm kind of in the same boat. Currently I don't eat with my family, but I do eat with my friends. I simply check if the menu offers soup or ask if they can accommodate me. If all else fails, I order herbal tea with artificial sweetener. I've only went out with my best friend, who knows I had the surgery. It's definitely not recommended to do so now but I just had my graduation ceremony. My aunt did the gastric sleeve years before I did. I don't think she began to eat "normally" until after a year. She never fully finishes a meal but will want a small snack afterwards (yogurt). She can't handle spicy food for anything, even now. She doesn't follow the rule of 30 anymore. Almost every time she eats out, she gets heartburn, indigestion, etc. When she finishes eating, it's not because she's happily satisfied but because she's uncomfortable. That's not to say that she doesn't enjoy her food. Obviously, this is when we would go out for rich, once-in-a-while type food. She doesn't really experience this with home cooked foods. Bear in mind, she also fell into some of her old habits. Thankfully, she didn't have too much weight gain. I've also noticed she's a lot pickier now, taste wise. Downright acts like a food critic. Overall, she definitely eats enough that it isn't obvious she had WLS. She just appears to be finnicky with a sensitive stomach. Her initial recovery was a month long so that spared her from dealing with people who didn't know she did the procedure. When she went back to work, her coworkers were all up in her business demanding to know why she was eating so little (and not out of concern). They would bring her sweets even though they were fully aware she was dropping weight. It was clear they were trying to sabotage her. Outside of work, the only people she's had to deal with were family and her husband's friends. So, she only had serious social gatherings around the holidays, and she was sleeved in the Spring. WLS is obviously not ideal if you have a robust social life. For me, even when I get to my soft food stage, I'll still order soup at restaurants because I'm not going to ask them to make my food nursing-home soft in front of who I'm having dinner with. If anybody has an issue, I'll say I ate earlier. Can't drink after WLS. I'll say I've gone sober. Drinking ages you, anyway.
  12. I just had a teaspoon of hummus with a teaspoon of avocado topped with a teaspoon of greek yogurt and it. was. GLORIOUS. I'm four days out and my surgeon gave me the greenlight to work in small amounts of pureed food.

    Hi

This was given to me of what I could have. I added steamed veggies to the broth and it was different. I also add the hidden valley ranch seasoning packet to plain Greek yogurt and dipped veggies in it. It was tasty. I drank premier protein shakes and the sugarfree Popsicles were a treat. 14. I had a hard time with water also did crystal light before couldn't stand it after. Water on a whole made me sick. I hate Gatorade. I did some research and water nausea is a thing and that's why a lot of people including me from even before surgery put stuff in their water. I had to try so many different waters until I found one that didn't sit heavy on my stomach mine is smart water. Made look and find one that works for you. And my dr said I can have some carbs as long as I eat my protein first. I love bread. I'll eat a sandwich on a French roll or something but only eat it with bread on the bottom. Also can't eat a whole sandwich. As far as sweets find something that isn't terrible for you to feed it a little so it's not always on a 10. I like breyers carb smart ice cream. I also like yogurt strawberries and a granola. I found a granola that is low in carb and sugar made by ratio. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

My doctor has me on 10 days clear, 10 days full liquid, 10 days pureed then solids. I am taking in a lot of fluids, more than 64 oz. I has around 80 g of protein. I would like something more filling. Like yogurt. I sent a message to ask about advancing to full. My doctor is in Mexico.

    Liver shrinking diet UK

3 pints of just milk and yogurt? that provides barely any nutrients or protein I have never heard of that type of liquid pre op diet. For most people you do protein shakes. typically 3-5 a day. of course all surgeons are different but yours seems a bit odd...
  17. Hi This is my first post on here so not sure how this all works lol. I am due to have gastric bypass surgery on the 26th May and I'm on day 6 (almost completed) of the liver shrinking diet of 3 pints of milk and 2 yogurts... i feel so weak and hungry. Its hell!

    10 months

yes missing meals and letting yourself get too hungry is bad. So before I go out, I always bring a high protein yogurt and cut up veggies or tuna and crackers and eat on the go. Which also eating on the go after surgery is never a good idea! I hope you just hit a stall and keep loosing until you reach you goal weight!!!

    Sugar free ice cream?

Have you looked into the Yasso Greek yogurt bars? They are still a special occasion treat because they have added sugars, but they are only 100 calories a bar for the ones not dipped in chocolate. They have them at Walmart and it’s Greek yogurt so they have 5G protein. They have mint chocolate chip, cookie dough and sea salt & caramel. Not sure what phase you are in or whether they fit i to your calorie budget but they do taste pretty good.

I’m not an egg person either. Before surgery, my breakfasts would be one of the following: 1. Green yogurt with a little extra protein powder 2. Cottage cheese w/ bits of avocado 3. Sliced avocado and a small Turkey sausage patty 4. Spinach, butternut squash, and some ground Turkey mixed together 5. Apple slices and string cheese 6. Slices of tomato topped with Greek yogurt (plain), dill, and bits of bacon

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

Tomorrow is the day for my VSG surgery! I’ll be staying overnight in the hospital. I haven’t had any surgeries that weren’t on an emergency basis so are there things i should expect? Any tips to get through the jitters? I’m excited to get to this point but just having those last minute jitters. I’ve kept busy today by cleaning the house and getting the couch set up with a sleeping wedge for when i get home and have stocked up on protein shakes, protein water and some yogurt and cottage cheese since my surgeon goes right to the puréed stage once I’m home.
  22. Wow! eating Is definitely different now. This morning I had one scrambled egg with a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese. For lunch and supper for had 3oz of tuna. (Tuna had egg, light mayo and sweet relish). I did ok with the egg but the tuna wasn't easy to eat. I had a yogurt between lunch and dinner. Im still confused on how much im supposed to eat. My book lays out meal plans. But I could barely eat 3oz of tuna. I can't imagine eating anything else with it. How long does it take you to eat 3oz of food. My book says to expect to take 30 minutes to eat. But I'm done in 10 to 15 minutes. Am I eating too fast?

I liked protein shakes at that stage. Premier was a favorite, although I also liked to mixed unflavored protein in my coffee or make a green smoothie. My favorite is spinach, blueberry and pineapple with unflavored protein and collagen. I am also a fan of Oikos triple zero greek yogurt. Depending on where you are with healing, you may consider adding a little granola. In fact, those two plus eggs are still pretty much what I have for breakfast even now.

    4 Days Post Op

I had surgery on May 2nd. Anytime I drank or moved, my stomach was roiling with acid and gas. I called it my witch's cauldron. I was concerned as I saw so many that didn't seem to have this issue after surgery. Once I got to week 2 with full liquids (yogurt, protein shakes, etc.) and I could consume more items of substance, this improved greatly and is now not an issue. Hopefully yours will improve too.

    Food Before and After Photos

I was gonna say @ms.sss that I’ll be more than happy to eat ALL the carbs! As is the case with dinner- kabuli pilau and vegetable raita. For those that aren’t familiar- pilau is a kind of rice pilaf dish that varies by country across Southern Asia and the Middle East, kabuli pilau is one that comes from Kabul, Afghanistan and traditionally is made with lamb, carrots and raisins. Raita is a yogurt dip? Salad? that’s popular in many variations in India. I think if I make that particular pilau again I’ll double the spices and reduce the ghee used. No after picture, I ate it all.
