Hi - I am 17 days post op, sleeved on May 9th. I know the topic is TMI but I need to ask. And I will contact surgeon tomorrow. So here goes,... Tonight, I noticed my urine was dark orange (more dark orange/brown towards bottom of bowl). In fact, I saw some of the darker parts falling to the bottom as I stood to check. I am concerned. For the day I drank at least 50oz of Water, just shy of my 64oz goal. For Protein I've been doing pretty well, but I know I could do better. What's also on my mind, is that I didn't have much of an urge to pee either after all I drank (and some of that was decaf tea). I did not have any colored foods (like beets or jell-o). I did have about 2 Tbsp of marinara. It had been 24hrs since my last Vitamin (and I opted to not take my Vitamins tonight so I could continue to monitor the color). I have NO fever or other symptoms (except for one of my incisions that hurts only when I bend - like the scab is coming off and tearing a bit). Doesn't seem related. Everything else seems ok. Thoughts? I will share what doctor/surgeon says after I speak to them tomorrow. Thanks!Hi! There are alot of reasons that could happen. Aleays best to check with the dr. Are/were you on a post op antibiotic? Did they use a cathader (sp) at any time when you were in the hospital? They are sometimes used during the operation but it isn't very common. I would ask the dr if you can take chewable Vitamin C. If it is the start of a UTI taking high doses of vitamin c can help. (It raises the acidity level of the urine which makes it a bad environment for the bacteria to grow.) Keep us updated!

Sweetmel17...I am already seeking therapy now, that's a great reassurance that I'm on the right path. Your regimen is quite strict, but it makes sense. This might be TMI but do you get bright oil spills when you use the toilet? I get them every now and then and usually after eating something that has fat in it. Seattle WA -
Food getting stuck... for hours!

I am 2 months post op and have this issue all the time. For me there is just this fairly sharp pain right underneath my rib cage (my pouch). Once it starts there is no going back. And it's unpredictable. What is good one day is bad the next. And it can happen with just a few bites of food (happened the other day from like 4 tiny bites of fresh mozzarella). Doc says I have a minor structure most likely, but wants to just give it some time as he thinks it will most likely work itself out. If not, I'll have a dilation. For me though, vomiting is easy. When I have this issue I just literally bend over at about a 90 degree angle and up it comes, no retching, just kinda easy (sorry about the TMI). At least it makes me feel instantly better. Then I just try again another day. -

2 weeks post op & bloating
Rvamom replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks yall. Yes I've been constipated a lot. I have my 2 week appointment tomorrow so hopefully I'll get all my questions answered. Tmi but did anyone have any really sticky bms? I've had that since surgery -
Hey everyone! So I'm still on my 90 day weight loss management, and my provider has me on a low calorie high Protein diet which I'm sure we all are on. So this is my 3rd week of the diet, I've been really strict with myself and taking it completely seriously. I haven't had fast food or any dessert food in this 3 week period. The only problem I am having is that I haven't really lost weight! I have maybe lost 2-3lbs but it is constantly going up and down. TMI ALERT: Constipation is also being an issue which also effects the number on the scale. So my question is, has anybody else gone through this issue? If so what were some things you did to help. With the way I am eating and basically living off protein supplements and chicken, I thought I would have lost at least 5lbs by now. I have increased my Fiber as well as taking Probiotics but it's not working. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The BEST feeling in the world post op!
Renkoss replied to miss_smiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely not TMI! I totally understand where you are coming from. Even after being married for 26 years, I'm still very self conscious of my body and all its lumps and bumps. My husband accepts me for who I am, but I've always been rather shy where my body is concerned. My husband has lost over 80 lbs in the last 4-5 years, and his body has certainly changed as well, but we accept those changes lovingly with each other, and being comfortable in your own skin is so very important. My very best post-op moment is being able to relax.....totally relax......and enjoy nekkid time in a way I haven't in years. No concerns or fears over where her hands may go.....I was proud of every bit of it. I've never been proud of that state before......now.....I am very relaxed and no fears exist. TMI ? Possible.....but who has time for PC bullshyt in their post-op lives. It'a all about getting on with the LIVING. LIVE peoples......I beg you. -

Hi everyone. I was sleeved on March 2nd and at this point in time I am very disheartened in my journey. I have only lost 30 lbs thus far and feel I've fought very hard for even that which includes a lot of working out. I eat right and have been following the guidelines yet I am barely losing. Is anyone else having a similar issue? Most stories I see show significantly more weight loss within this timeline compared to me. Additionally and this is tmi (sorry in advance) but at this point I have to ask - this far down the road does anyone else still experience extreme diarrhea? About 90% of the food I eat cases this to the point I'm afraid to eat with friends or go out if eating is involved. I never know what food will affect me, most cases a food that I previously ate and was fine with, may cause diarrhea a couple days later if I eat that food again. I can't find a common link that causes it. When I spoke with my doctor Activia and time was the only thing recommended but I'm almost 3 months out and still having this issue. Does anyone else experience this? Is so, is there anything you've tried that seems to help? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm so glad I found a forum dedicated to MGB. I kept posting my questions at the RNY forum and no one seemed to be able to really answer all of my question.. Well here we go:- 1- I was wondering if after getting the MGB are will still able to digest and absorb Vitamin pills (and not capsules) like prenatal Vitamins for example? Sorry for TMI but before my surgery and when I used to take my prenatal my urine would change to bright yellow. It just didn't happen this time!! I'm only taking the prenatal a to help prepare my body for pregnancy.. I take it along with Bariatric vitamins. 2- I came across a Bariatric once a day capsule under the brand name ProCare Health . Was wondering if any of you have used it before? Is it advisable to use a once a day pill? I have read somewhere that chewables are the best for bypass patients and it has to be taken 2-4 times for best absorption.. Is this true? I just can't stand chewables and defiantly would prefer taking 1 pill/ capsule per day instead of 4-6. 3- Is MGB associated with more malabsorption than regular RNY? My surgeon said they usually bypass around 2 meters of the intestines but because my pre-op BMI was only 33 and I didn't need to lose much that he will only bypass 1.8 meters which will cause slightly better absorption.. Is this true? 4- since with MGB we have a larger pouch compared to RNY does that mean that some absorption can happen in the stomach?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I am 5 days post op... You know how they say to keep walking and keep passing gas... Well I went to Lowes with my husband today after finally starting to feel better and figured I could use a walk... Well I passed gas at Lowes after about 20 min of walking and unfortunately it wasn't gas... I apparently had my first BM and I started my period since this body is all confused and shocked after surgery. I mean it was bad.... on the way to the restroom I started to leave black gross trail .... Sooo embarrassing! How come people don't talk about this lol others must know this can happen lol Good thing we live close so my husband went home while I was in a bathroom cleaning myself up and got me change of clothes... Saved by the hubby! Still can't believe this lol I was worried that I was constipated... Wow

I'm 3 months almost 4 months out and any my pooping experience is hilarious (not really). I was told and read that my bowel movements would increase and the smell would be foul. And for me, it's the absolute truth. I'm sure everyone experience is different but let me share (TMI) that I've pooped on myself in the middle of the night, I poop several times in the morning and yes have been late for work for it. When I think there is no more to come out...SURPRISE!, there's more. Im over the increase in bathroom breaks but its the smell that's the killer. Per my NUT, Im eating too much fat. Get that under control, I should begin to see a difference. That would be great, cause there are a couple of time, I just barely made it to the bathroom!

Anyone get sleeved in May?
lisamstevens replied to skinnyme13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Justaprettyface, If you get a chance, read my "TMI MY FIRST BM", I just posted it. Beside my BM issue, which you can now be aware of and avoid for yourself, I'm doing really great!! I had a 2 day hospital stay and then was released to come home. The first 2 days home were a bit painful but manageable I never even needed my pain meds and I have a very low tolerance of pain. Things you may need to heal you feel better, get an abdominal binder (hospital provided one to me before I left). This helps keep things where they need to be, takes of the pressure when you get up and down. Do what you can to drink all your water. The sip, sip thing for me was not allowing me to get my water in for the day so I tried a small swallow then a normal swallow which was just fine for me. I drink just like normal now. WALK! At first I didn't want to move but I know in my heart I have healed 10 times fast because I walked. Go outside and walk down your street, get some fresh air. I live 2 blocks from the beach and having the sun on my face, the ocean crashing was just such a treat. You will get through this, use your support team. Call the nurse if you need to, I did the first day home. My tongue was white and I ended up with thrush, cause by Anesthesia-totally normal. Sorry for the long post! You will do great, this is all worth it. I was down 18 pounds from my last visit pre-op to today! Everyday I'm stronger, happier, and so proud of my decision to make my health a priority. I would rather have this surgery on my terms than open heart surgery or something like that. I'll be praying for you and a speedy recovery!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Not a fun topic at all but I wish I had this info prior to what happened to me today. This post is for all the newly sleeved, you will want to read this. OK, I was sleeved May 10th and my last BM was on the 9th. I'm feeling really good, the surgery was successful and I never had to use pain meds. I mention this because I was told only IF I take pain meds, should I also take a stool softener. No softener for me, I never needed the pain meds! This morning I had my 1-week post-op Dr appointment where I mentioned I still had no BM. I was told it is very normal and due to a liquid diet, I may not have one until the puréed stage. About 2 hours after arriving home, my body signaled I had to finally make a BM! My happiness went from this is great to call 911, NOW! You see, I was on the toilet for about 1/2 hour lightly pushing, then pushing harder then to rocking around the seat doing what I could to release the demon inside me... NOTHING worked. I finally gave up took a walk drank some Water and then the urge to go came back a second time...NOTHING came out. I ended up becoming very dizzy, I started to sweat, I saw stars then everything around me went white! I was passing out from the pain of pushing (hurt my tummy) and from the pain my bottom was feeling (felt like I was passing a small watermelon wrapped with barbed wire). Luckily, my sweet husband came to my rescue with a cold water and ice pack and his shirt around his nose. He called the nurse and she recommended an enema, some milk of magnesium, and suppositories...yeah, forget the enema you will not be able to contort your wounded tummy properly. You drink the magnesium and take the suppository!! So, about 10 minutes later and more pain and screaming, I gave birth to something so incredible I couldn't believe my eyes (I see why I was in pain if you know what I mean). Now, I'm literally "pissing" out of my ass, which is in so much pain. Moral of this disgusting story, take a stool softener no matter what even if you don't take pain meds and , especially if you haven't pooped in 2 days maybe try some milk of magnesium too. I hope this post saves at least 1 persons rump! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Weight Fluctuation During 6 Month Diet
Joyecamp1992 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Today is my second weigh in at my doctor's office and I must admit I'm kinda nervous. Right now, it's that time of the month for me (sorry if tmi) and I'm bloated. I've been trying to get rid of the excess Water weight but I don't know if it's working. Has anyone had experience with their weight going up and down during the 6 month process? Does the weight from the weigh ins really make a difference as long as at the end of the 6 months, you're either the same weight as you were at the beginning or you've lost weight? I have anthem blue cross blue shield if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance! -
6 days out & increasing pain on my left side
girl4god77 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had RNY Gastric Bypass last Monday (6 days ago). Everything went great! Went home the following day. Following instructions to the T. But yesterday my pain started increasing especially on my left side. I really hoped I would feel improvement by now but it's actually worse. Dr hasn't been available all weekend of course but went to urgent care last night (which was pointless as the Dr had no clue anything about WLS patients). The nurse told me to go due to the puss that developed under the glue on the incision site but they said its not infected. Anyway, the pain on my left side is constant and kind of feels like when you drink too much then exercise and get those cramps. But when I walk it's even worse. And there's a burning sensation on my lower abdomen (nowhere near incision site). Just wondering if anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? Also having regular diarrhea (sorry tmi) and Dr said it was normal a few days ago but most people are constipated. I sure hope this gets easier soon. I can't even put my socks & shoes on by myself. Lol. I'm hopeful but just so shocked at how bad things still are. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
any may sleevers?
Kat_Meow66 replied to taweedeegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you feeling? I'm feeling rough. Sent from my SM-N900V using the BariatricPal App really rough. I have terrible pain on my right side where there are stitches in the muscle. The surgeon said they do this because that's where he pulled the stomach out from and it's to avoid developing a hernia. I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I was in hospital for four nights. I'm also struggling to get enough fluids in. To top it all off, and this may be tmi but I got my period today :-( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yesterday I leave work a little early and head to Macy's for some retail therapy. I try on a blue suede skirt, size 20, on clearance. Fits awesome! I went from a size 32 being too small to a size 20 in 9 months (two more days will be 9 months). I found a blue blouse to go with it and wore them both today with the white, black and blue duster jacket I have on in my profile pic. Anyone, back to the story about Macy's. They had this awesome black skirt with an overlay in black that looked almost like rubber, in a lacy pattern, and clearance price of $19, down from $99. Zipped up AND down the back. They only had it in a size 18, so I tried it on. It was so tight around the knees, that I had to unzip it a little from the bottom (one reason the zipper went both directions). It fit pretty good, a few more pounds down and I can wear it. So I decide to see what happens when I bend over - how much does it ride up? So I turn away from the three-way mirror, bend over, look back at the mirror and am horrified by what I see. Everything is at least two inches south of where I saw it the last time I looked, and my butt has flown the coop - nowhere to be found!!!! Whiskey! Tango! Foxtrot! The sag has seriously set in! So this depresses me, but I still buy the skirt. Then I text one of the dudes I've been seeing and tell him I'm depressed about the view he has when he... yanno... DUZ THANGS TO ME! He said he wasn't depressed about it at all. Dude is 16 years younger than I am (yes, I'm pulling a cougar on this one), and I figure he just doesn't understand my angst. Then he offers to hang me upside down to... DO THANGS... and that way they will be two inches NORTH of where I saw them last. In the meantime, saving my pennies for plastics. Dang.

Will anything help with my saggy stomach?
rydersmama posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The majority of my weight is centred around my middle, so as a result I have a pretty low, hangy stomach apron. Now that I've lost a good amount of weight, I find it's harder to keep it from "popping" out of the bottom of my panties...I'm sorry tmi...because the skin is getting looser. I would really appreciate any advise on what I could buy that would keep this darn thing under control!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
TMI : 4 days post-op -- can I have prune juice?
Kooky1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had a complete bowel movement in about 10 days. By complete, I mean full evacuation of my bowels in that time. I was on liquids pre-op and whenevee I change my diet, I become constipated. I told my surgeon and he said if I remain hydrated then constipation should not be a problem. Well, my urine is fairly clear so I assume I am hydrated and getting in liquids. It is at a point when my bowels feel full which is adding to my discomfort. There is gas then there is being full of poo and I'm full of poo. My surgeon said that I can have juices sometimes but they cannot have pulp. I am thinking of doing warm prune juice with Mirada but I am not sure if prune juice has pulp. What worked for you? Thanks Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App -
I'm 6 days away from surgery & scared as heck!
girl4god77 replied to girl4god77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I'm sorry to any guys in here and this is prob tmi but were any of you on your monthly cycle for surgery? At my pre-op they told me to stop my birth control b/c it could cause blood clots. But then said its ok if that starts my cycle. Cmon. Why didn't you tell me this a month ago so my body would get used to it. Of course I started yesterday (again) with cramps & all. It's heavy today so I doubt it stops overnight. I'm more nervous about this than the actual surgical procedure. Yuck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
