Yipee! The best NSV ever for me!

I know Susan, getting off or reducing Meds are the best NSV ever. I was lucky enough to get off my diabetes Meds right after banding (type 2) now i need to loose a little more and I might be able to get off my High Blood Pressure pills. I just got tested yesterday and my A1C is 4.6 which the nurse said is considered Normal. Normal...Me....Cant wait to have my weight be considered Normal. Great Job.:blushing:

    Funny Weight Loss Moment!

mis 73, i hope you dont think that im trying to "one up" you with a funny story, but i had a funny nsv too recently. Im 53 yrs old, ive been banded 8 weeks ( Dec 13th), down from 225 to 208. im 5'3 and have always carried my weight fairly well, a co worker said "theres no way you're 225 !" but i was...... anyway .... i dress nicely and think i look good for being at 208 lbs. and have been getting lots of compliments. recently my hubby and his male co-worker came through my workplace and hubby introduced us. after they left the co-worker said to my husband " i hope you dont take this the wrong way, but when you told me in december that your wife was having lap band surgery, i pictured a bowling ball on legs ! ! she looks great !!" i got a huge laugh out of that one , and im still laughing. God bless that guy !!!
  5. Stay off the scale for awhile. Remove it from your home if you must. Measure yourself. Focus on the NSV's. I'm avoiding my scale like the plague. If I don't see the stall, there is no stall!

    NSV!!

So I’ve had 2 NSV this week...the first is I pulled out my brand new nursing scrubs that I bought 2 years ago and have never been able to fit into them. Well now they fit perfectly!!! Also pulled out some jeans that I haven’t fit into for a long time and they fit too! This is a 2nd NSV because they do not have an elastic band!!! For the last couple years I’ve been living in yoga pants and elastic wasted jeans because that’s all that has fit me comfortably. I’m 7 1/2 weeks out and 32 lbs down since surgery

    1st Stall - GRATITUDE POST!

My sentiments exactly, my stall happened much earlier than anticipated (3 days ago), but thanks to the many people that contribute their personal stories I'm able to move forward without getting overly stressed out. I had a NSV today - Every Friday is jeans day and today I pulled out a pair of white jean capris that I haven't worn since I bought 3 years ago. I kept them in my closet for my summertime goals and never got back down in weight. Today they not only fit, even a little baggy in the tush and thighs. While part of me is sad that this will likely be the last time I can wear them (no white after Labor Day) the other part of me is ecstatic that I was able to wear them at least one more time after their initial purchase.
  9. I have a family wedding to go to this Saturday. I found a dress in the back of my closet that I thought would be fine to wear. Today I had lunch with a friend I have not seen in a while. She was telling me that she went to Dress Barn and got some nice outfits for her son's graduation. I have never been to Dress Barn, so on the way home I decided to stop and see if they had something inexpensive I could wear to the wedding instead of my old boring dress. I walked in and noticed the store was split in half. The left side was Women's and the right was Misses. I was confused as to what direction to go. I thought I would start with size 16 and if that didn't fit go up to 18. I asked the saleslady what side had size 16. She said the right side goes up to 16. I walked in and looked around pulling out some dresses to try on. I thought what am I doing over here. I can't wear these small cute dresses. These have waists to them! OH, why not I thought and carried my 3 dresses and 1 slack set in case a dress is out of the question to the dressing room. The first dress I tried on was the display dress. It was black and white and had a white tie belt. Cute and the latest style. I zipped it most the way up but couldn't get that last bit at the top... I didn't know if it was because it was too tight or I just couldn't reach it. I stepped out to find the saleslady. She finished zipping it up. We both looked in the full length mirror...and to my amazement it fit perfectly! I was so pumped I tried on the next one which was a sexy form fitting cutie. Back out to the saleslady, I said this is too much for a wedding. She said no it fit me perfect and looked even better then the first one. Back in I go for #3 dress. This one felt like a nightgown on. Fit but not as nice as the other two. Saleslady agreed with me. Next I tried on the pant suit. Well, I will be darned if that didn't look great too! I bought Dress #1 for church, Dress #2 for the Wedding, and pant suit because I will need something to wear for the trip. I bought the lot for $120...what a bargain! On the way out, I walked through the Women's size side and said my fairwell to waistless tent dresses. I love my lapband!

    My NSV At Dress Barn

Congrats! What an amazing thing it is to shop in the "regular" sizes. My NSV story: This weekend I grabbed a t-shirt to wear to the gym and realized it was my son's size large, and IT FIT. I showed my family who all agreed that it accentuated my "feminine" curves and the fact that I now actually have a waist. So, I went to the local mall and shopped in the "misses' section (hadn't shopped there in 17 years and forgot what the section was even called) and bought two size large shirts. Didn't say anything to anyone at work, but got many compliments, 3 from men! I am down to a size 18 pant now, when the day of surgery I was wearing a 26/28. I go on my life dream trip to the UK next month and refuse to shop until the weekend before I go, hoping to have a 16 pant in my wardrobe. Yeah for NSV's!
  11. Today I am officially out of the 50s for BMI and I fit in 2x size scrubs again! I'm almost a week out and I am amazed at all the changes! I feel lighter and happier! Yay!

    Victoria's Secret NSV

Congrats you look great! That is on my NSV list once I get there. Keep up the good work!
  13. I haven't been sleeved yet, going on 11/7 but as I was getting dressed I was thinking I can not wait until I can put my bra on and my rolls do not cover the sides and how I can't wait for my panties not to keep rolling under my last tummy , it seems the only ones that do not do that are my "granny panties" (for a lack of better words). Just thought I would share with others that may understand how I am feeling and I am just giggling away over here at how silly it all would sound to someone that doesn't understand.

    NSV's (NonScale Victories)

    Nsv!!!

I was at the local hs track today with my DH and two of our kids walking my laps and when I was all done walking (everyone else petered out early, hehe) I decided to join them at the long jump site where my kids had been competing to see who could jump the farthest. Well let's just say none of us are going to the olympics based on todays performances, lol. I decided to give it a go, it has been almost 20 years since I have run track and done the long jump but I figured what the heck. So I ran, yes ran! and I jumped albeit not far but I jumped and landed in the sand all of me after my feet hit I slid and ended up full on covered in sand, lol. It was so much fun!!! A year ago I could not walk for 5 minutes without terrible pain in my lower back, now I walk 2 miles a day and have no pain! I would have never dreamed of running before but today I ran full on, not jogged but ran full out! Once I hit my century mark, 22lbs to go, I am going to add jogging to my walking! I knew that weight loss would relieve me of much of my pain, but I never imagined how much! This surgery has given me my life back! This year I will be going to the zoo with my kids and not have to sit on a bench the whole time! We are going to have such fun this summer

    Sad NSV

I know my local salvation army has a half price day once a week, and ALL clothing is half price. I have found some really cute things there for just a few dollars. My daughter got a beautiful formal dress for her 6th grade dance last summer for less than $10, and it was new with tags, and priced at nearly $200. We also have a local domestic violence shelter that has a thrift store, all clothing is $1, and some weeks it's only $.50. I bought 10 pair of Ambercrombie, and American Eagle jeans there in sizes 8/10 for this winter. I'm already down to a 12, and the 8/10 is my final goal. So for $5 I was able to get a nice little start to my winter clothes. Oh and I also bought some shirts in a med, thinking they would be great for when I get to goal, and guess what? I'm wearing one of those med shirts today. I thought for sure I would have to be at least another 15 or so pounds down before they fit, and they are already fitting and looking great on me. When I tried it on, just to see how far I needed to go to wear it, I started crying. My husband was soooo confused that I was crying because it fit. He thought I was crying because it didn't fit. LOL then he saw it and was amazed. He tells me all the time how great I look, but sometimes it takes something like an NSV to make me realize how far I've come. I saw my reflection in a store window and didn't recognize myself at first, it was crazy.

    NSV while out of town!

I think this may be my favorite NSV so far. DH & I went out of town for the weekend, and there were several other people that went as well for a bowling tournament. Anyway, at the hotel, I went into the fitness room and got in a workout. It was only a 30 minute workout, so it wasn't STELLAR, but hey, I was proud of myself for at least doing SOMETHING... So here's the NSV. One of the ladies there that we knew, and play volleyball with asked me the next day, aren't you SO sore? And I didn't know what the heck she was talking about. I wasn't sore at all, because 30 minutes for me now is a pretty easy workout. Well, she had seen me doing my workout, and was shocked to learn that I do that and more, mostly every day. She wasn't shocked that I do it, but she said there's no way she could hack it, and this lady is skinny, and looks pretty fit. I felt like a rockstar!

    Huge Nsv..in A Small Package

Fantastic! I love your attitude about keeping it intact and adjusting it's place in your life as your size shrinks! You're totally right.....it can still have a precious place in your heart, whether it is on your finger (pick a size!) or on a chain around your neck. Enjoy this sweet NSV.

    Your favorite nsv's?

Fitting into an airplane seat and being able to bring the tray down all they way. Fitting into Broadway theater seats (oh boy are they narrow!) Getting onto a massage table and not having my arms hang over the sides because I'm so fat that I don't fit. Not scaring the bejeezus out of someone if I try to sit next to them on the bus or on the train. Not being stared at. Not looking horrific in a bathing suit. And most important NSV of all is that I am now eligible for the knee replacement surgery that will hopefully get me mobile and out of pain. Hooray! All these things noted above are a million times better than any fleeting feeling of pleasure from overeating. The food is still just as good (if not better) though it means eating alot less of it. I am so grateful to the lapband and my determination in helping me to change my life.
