12 Days Post Op...and I feel like I'm constantly eating (full liquid stage). Any insight, advice, similar feelings?
CelesteMarie replied to erinkath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin, I know we are all different. My op was May 5th.the first few days i struggled to get liquids in. As I felt better, I drank more. You mentioned you eat soup, rice Krispies, etc, I have only five liquid, until this week where I added Greek yogurt. Muscle milk and Isopure were/are my Protein sources. By day five, my primary doctor appointment, I had dropped 19 lbs but I was heavier than you going in (274) and didn't lose much preop. Here's my thing. I had this done for my HEALTH-get rid of diabetes. The weight loss is an added benefit and a nice one at that. I won't get on a scale unless I'm at a doctor or follow up. I am shrinking; I can tell in my clothes but I refuse to let the scales rule me. In fact, before I had this surgery I had begun thinking that way and lecture my friends who have weight problems about it. Put the scale away. It can be sabotaging. Make how you FEEL your goal. If you're a foodie, as I am, it's daunting at first and emotional to realize I will never eat the way I used to (used to turn to food and in all emotional states) and food is for nutrition only. I will still enjoy meal time, but not abuse it, I hope. So far, so good. I feel great and I sleep so well now whereas before I could NEVER sleep thru the night. I also think you'll do better once you're back working. Or doing something after there's no pain. Walk a lot. It's so good to do. I feel I still don't walk enough even. I returned to work on May 9th, four days post-op, but my job isn't too physically demanding. I am a restaurant general manager and I made sure to have enough crew on just in case I couldn't do it. Good luck to you girl! Try to remember that this is for your health and to live longer. Also, I'm sure you are reading less than before so the weight loss will start showing once you are moving more. A good way to tell the difference between number and head hunger is to all yourself if you're hungry enough to eat an apple. Or a boiled chicken. Lol good luck girl! Hang in there! Well it's been a whirlwind week. So day two he was already starting to question his plan, he really had this totally dillusional idea about how it would be better for all of us and somehow failed to put any reality into it. By day three he broke up with her . By day 4 he agreed to marriage counciling. He is still living out of his office in my basement. We are still fairly seperate except for dinner with the kids. It's a lot of mixed emotions. I get frustrated that he isn't processing things. He still believes I played a part in this. Sorta. I am not sure how he feels about her. I wish he was in the making up for all the pain, hurt and lies phase. He isn't yet, but it's only been a few days. Somedays I wake up and just wanna pretend like nothing ever happened. Other days I can't get it out of my head. It's gonna be a long road. I still can't seem to eat. I can get a little Protein shakes (about 1/2 shake at a time), maybe one or two. I was able to keep down most of Greek yogurt yesterday. It's been such a nightmare. Last night was the first night I slept more than an hour or two. This week is try to get back to some normalcy, try getting protein in even if it can only be shakes now. Get back to taking medicine and Vitamins. I don't really wanna try the gym again until I can get more than 200 calories in. I am gonna call my PCP and see if she will order me some sleep meds and maybe some anxiety stuff...I dunno. For all of you, and all of the messages thank you. It's gonna be rough, I am so glad to have any support. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

I have half of premier protein shake or half a container of yogurt. I've tried eating a homemade fiber muffin but usually can only consume a couple of bites

I'm only 11 days post-op and still basically on liquids. Since it's okay to have Greek yogurt and sf Jello and pudding, I figured it's okay to have a little hummus (just by baby sized spoonful). I hope it doesn't bother me, I'm feeling GREAT and bring in my Protein, but I was craving hummus. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -

Sleeve holds 2 oz vs "I can drink a lot more than that" Questions and Confusion.
Beck90 replied to Beck90's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
This is interesting.. so if I drink slowly - I'm allowed to drink my entire Protein shake in one sitting? (it's anywhere from 8-24 oz depending on how much fruit, ice, greek yogurt, etc gets added) or is that a no no? -
4 Days Post-Op Blues
jccanada replied to Thickness33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't handle the broths, and unjury Soups... I got to where the thought of them made me want to hurl. Once I finally tried Greek yogurt, even though it was early... it was so tastefully satisfying that I got over the complete he'll I was going through. 4 Days Post-Op Blues

I went through the the same thing. I had mine done on April 20th. I ended up to the point that a shower was enough to make me want to pass out. I got some pedialite, that helped. I also would get crushed ice. Like from sonic or wherever you have local. That helped me more than anything. At about 5 or 7 days I had Greek yogurt.. I watered it down with almond milk. That was a HUGE boost. Mentally and physically. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App I was thinking about some crushed ice earlier & I'll try that to help prevent dehydration. I didn't think about the Pedialite but I have a feeling that's gonna make me nauseous too. My nausea medicine is even my enemy at this point. I know I made the right decision getting the surgery but these past few days have been absolute H E L L!!! -

So happy to hear that your health is improving! That's what it's all about. As for pureed food suggestions, I'll just tell you a few of my favorites from that stage: - refried Beans with a little sour cream and sometimes a little cheese, all pureed together. - pureed turkey or chicken chili from Trader Joe's. - canned white meat chicken, cheese, and a little milk or cream of chicken Soup. Makes a really creamy, delicious puree. - for something on the sweet side, plain greek yogurt or cottage cheese (my favorite) pureed with canned pumpkin and some cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and perhaps a little stevia. so yummy! Keep up the great work! It definitely gets easier, and your health will just keep getting better and better. -
For Breakfast, I like cottage cheese mixed with low fat yogurt and a banana to "dip" in it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post Surgery Foods You Can't Tolerate But Wish You Could

I'm about 7 weeks out. I tried tuna and put in low fat mayo, small amt of dill pickle relish and tiny chopped onions. Threw it right up and even saw small amounts of blood. I'm sure the mayo and pickles hate me right now... I also can't drink Protein shakes. Not premade or a high quality powder. Tried $300 worth of different ones. HATE THEM ALL. can't even swallow them. It's too bad I hate yogurt and fresh fish too. Ugh. I'm a mess Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App -

@@Tssiemer1 sorry your not feeling well. Try to move around too and not just recline/lay down in bed or on the couch. Two weeks out and it hardly feels like I had surgery. Scabs and bruising on incisions are gone, I'm able to gulp fluids and feel the restriction when eating yogurt or soups. It gets better but you have to get moving and sip water like its a job! -
When did you get your brain back? (Working after surgery)
Kindle replied to Seastars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't recall being mentally off. I was doing paperwork from home at 6 days post and physically back to work at 7. Besides the physical aspect of my job I do a lot of mental multitasking...client communication, scheduling, medication calculations and dosing, accounts receivable, writing in medical records, ordering supplies, etc. I was consuming more carbs than most people do immediately postop (adding pureed fruit to my protein drinks, using drinkable yogurt, a lot of dairy milk, 100% juice and regular sports drinks rather than low cal drinks with artificial sweeteners) so maybe that helped. -
Need suggestions... Please

Yes like @@KristenLe said my first question is what phase of your diet are you on? Are you on full liquids yet? If so try some strained creamed Soup or yogurt........if you're still on clear liquid if Crystal Light is too sweet like @@Valentina said Water it down............or better yet, there is always just plan old water. I also like the Mio water enhancers I don't have a favorite I like a bunch of different ones. Hang in there and follow your plan....... -

What do you eat? Am I eating too much?
LipstickLady replied to Mrs. Lincoln's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Personally, I think you are a little carb heavy if this is a daily menu, but that's just my opinion. I am a bit more "decadent" with my menu so I would sub that Breakfast bread with cheese on the eggs and a piece of ham, bacon, or sausage. My snack would be cheese or cheese. Maybe a few grapes, but protein with fruit, not just fruit so as to lessen it a bit. What kind of carb are you eating for lunch/lunch? I'd skip that and sub cheese, but DAMN... I love cheese. If you are eating brown rice, Beans, or a high fiber carb, that's different. Your late late night snack needs to change IMO. Nuts, Jerky, cheese (what!?!?!), a bit of fruit, greek yogurt... I have no problem with Snacks as I graze most of my day, but I know that I personally have more hunger when I eat carbs right before bed. But that said, this is working for you. It would not work for me. You are not me. You're doing great, so you do you. If you find that your weight loss starts to slow or you start to feel more hunger, drop some carbs. You are doing fabulous. Lipsticklady I feel you on that..I'm thinking I may be doing too much carb too, when I do have carbs its usually brown rice or like half of a red potatoe..my nutritionist gave me this meal plan..but I kinda feel like it's a lot of food..I've been noticing some days I can eat a lot...and then there are days like this week where I can hardly eat..kinda weird... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App I call those my feeding days and my non feeding days. Some days I can eat 1/2 a cup or so every two hours, some days I am lucky to eat 1/2 a cup twice a day. -

It really depends on your doctor's plan. I'm 4 days post surgery as well and my "full liquid" diet allows Greek yogurt, pudding and cream of wheat. The thicker textures of those foods is more satisfying than just drinking protein shakes. The Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt brand is quite thick and has 15g of protein. I made cream of wheat today with a little Splenda and cinnamon and it was delicious. Like a slightly thinner version of oatmeal. You can also mix protein powders in with cream of wheat for more protein and different flavors.
