    Zero Post-op Nausea

I never had nausea when sleeved 5/1/19. And I did nothing preventative
  2. I had my sleeve yesterday morning (6/4/19) and I have had zero nausea! I just wanted to share what my doc gave to head off post-op nausea. I put on a Scopolamine patch the night before surgery and then took an Emend on the way to the hospital for surgery. I truly believe these two things kept me from being nauseous. I know if insurance doesn't cover the Emend it can be pretty pricey. I say it is worth every penny!
  3. Pre-Op I was taking 80 units a day of insulin ( 40 in the morning and 40 at night ) , metforman also for my diabetes, High blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication, My pre- op weight going in was 260 lbs ,, . My surgery was April 10th and now I’m completely off metforman , off my cholesterol med, off my high blood pressure med and I’m down to only 10 units a day of insulin ( if needed ) and current weight is 220lbs .. best decision I’ve made for my health was to get the sleeve operation 👍🏼

    MAY 2019 Sleevers

Had my surgery on May 14, 2019. Definitely more than I expected but I'm glad I did it. Already down 55lbs in 3 weeks. Currently in the puree stage and hating every minute of it! lol
  6. Hey ya'll. I have a question. First, some background... My whole life I was very small. 115 lbs was my heaviest (I'm 5' 3.5") and I always thought I was too small. But that's who I was. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder, and put on Seroquel. Anyone who knows that drug knows that it's known for weight gain. WELL, I gained 100 lbs in just over a year. At first I was excited at the weight gain because I finally had some curves. But then it got out of control. I ate healthy and weight just poured on. I didn't (and still don't) recognize myself in the mirror. I guess my question is, do you think when I go down I'll recognize myself again? Or will the body dysmorphia stay the same and I won't feel like my old self. I'm not planning on going down that far... I'd like to be around 145 or whatever I think looks good. Any insight would be appreciated.

    June 2019 challenge

Day 4 - whoops... missed this one entirely. Spent the day in bed trying to get rid of this wretched cough. Day 5 - worries? Biggest one right now is that my hubs has a job interview happening in less than 10 minutes. We *really really REALLY* need him to get a new job, but I'm not sure that this is the right option. Add to that, my hubs is on the spectrum (aspergers), and he doesn't always do well in interviews. At least my cough is improving now, and I woke up this morning to a 3.4lb weighloss. B-side: Time machine question... I would want to be a fly on the wall throughout my grandparents' courtship/love story. It's a long rambling story that involves a young man lying about his age to get into the army during WWII, a Dear John letter, an Irish woman named Molly, and her father with a gun, D-day and the Liberation of Holland, my grandmother going to visit my grandfather when he came home from the war and then writing to her family a month later asking them to send her clothes because she got married.

    Hello from Utah!

Thanks JanJan19! Not going to appeal to my insurance only because I found out that even if I did qualify that it is separate from what counts towards my out of pocket max... so, they only pay 50/50 and that ends up being around $10-12,000. Can't afford that! Thanks for sharing you beginning! 12 days! Awesome, I'm sure it's a emotional rollercoaster!

    Rumbling tummy

Yes! I am exactly 10 weeks post gastric bypass, and have the same problem!! I'm still on protein shakes (complications) and it doesn't rumble and gurgle on the shakes, but if I eat any real food the crazy noises start. Very embarrassing! 13. I had originally wanted ps 10 months post op. Fortunately my schedule didn’t allow for the time off. I had hit my goal weight, but then proceeded to drop another 15 lbs. When you’re 200 lbs plus 15 lbs is nbd. But the physical differences for me between 140 to 125 were dramatic. I lost two cup sizes and two sizes in pants. So now I’m planning to have surgery at 22 months post op, having maintained at 130 or so for approximately 10 months. As impatient as I am to have ps and get everything “fixed”, it was actually the best thing for me to be forced to wait.
  14. This one is important to me because of my joint pain and muscle soreness I’ve had my whole career as a hairstylist on my feet carrying all that weight... I can get in and out of my epsom salt bath without worrying id fall and never mind be out of commission or die leaving my autistic son without a mom... I also envisioned some EMT without the ability to unsee the blubbery lump they’d have to rescue!!!... I walk faster, groan less upon standing... wear a freeking size 10 now and I’m gonna live my life to the fullest... I’m a better mom because I can focus on them and not my ailments 💜

To Tell or NOT to Tell

I am suppose to have surgery 7/8/19 I only told my husband. Maybe after surgery I will let my sister and close friends know? Idk, but I made up my mind and don’t want anyone talking me out of it. Do what you feel is best for you. Not anyone’s business about your personal doctor appts.
  19. yep, this is what I do (even at 7 months post op). I time 10 minutes on my watch between every 3-4 bites. It results in me taking FOREVER to finish a meal, but at least I can avoid that pressure feeling (most times, at least). On the bright side, I have learned to appreciate room-temperature food.

Help! Weight gain probs. Snack suggestions.

I also said “ I will never gain it back” and had a 16 pound gain my third year. (I worked it off) Weight gain can mess with your head. You caught it before it became a major regain. You can get this back down. Some of us can have a piece of cholate and stop. I know myself, I keep temptation out of the house. Maintaining I indulge within reason. Some of us do the pouch reset (liquid progression to real food) It’s a good way to restart healthy habits again. Some of us go back to bariatric basics.( Real food stage, Log food and stay within your weight loss calorie/macros, hydrate and exercise) Others change diet plans. (keto, intermittent fasting, vegan etc) Its finding what works for you. Whatever diet you choose; Logging has been the tool that helped me get the weight off. Here are a few threads that may help: Weight loss group challenge to keep you motivated. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425758-june-2019-challenge/?tab=comments#comment-4781757 If you choose intermittent fasting here is a group of people that can help https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/419144-intermittent-fasting-daily-menuresultsaccountability/?page=173&tab=comments#comment-4780742 Mental Weight loss battles thread. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425354-the-importance-of-doing-the-head-work/?tab=comments#comment-4776743 Wish you the best. 21. The hardest part for me is that the painful stuck sensation doesn't hit right away. It is hard to know when to stop eating, because each bit can feel perfectly fine and then all of a sudden I know I ate about 6 bites too many. Sooooo......I am trying to eat only half of what I think I can eat, and then wait 10 minutes. Sometimes I can finish the meal, but other times i know it is enough and to leave well enough alone. So hard..... especially with a lifetime of stuffing my face and never feeling full and never stopping at a reasonable place, Definitely a re-learning process, but the pain is a great detriment.

    The Maintenance Thread

Hello ... maintainer here, checking in .... I'm 16 months post op. I hit goal at 10 months (24.8 BMI), then dropped below it, and have maintained there (22-23 BMI) for nearly 3 months now. I agree it is a total mind f*ck to switch gears from being very disciplined with your diet, to having to eat more often and less strictly. I was freaking out a little as I dropped below goal, especially considering I'm less happy with my naked self at a lower weight . But my stomach capacity has gradually increased, so that makes it easier to get more cals in. But it is significantly restricted vs. pre WLS. So it feels like a good balance. I'm going to have ps at the end of this year. Until then I'd like to stay at in the 22-23 BMI range. After plastics I'll have to reevalute and see at what weight I'm physically happiest with.

To Tell or NOT to Tell

Hi everyone, new here. My surgery was on 5-9-19 and I didn’t want many people to know because I got a lot of “you don’t need the surgery” so I only told a few close family & friends and my boss. But I complications during my surgery and they had to go back into emergency surgery on me and my friend that went with me told our other friends and when I got back I it seemed like everyone knew lol
  24. So I was sleeved 4/25/2019 and have had a few stalls. Most recently I was stuck at 203-204. I always weigh myself on the same scales and nothing on. The nurse is still getting used to that. (I kid, I kid). So I've was stuck there for more than a week. Weighing every morning. When I lose weight it's usually overnight and I would see up to a pound drop from bedtime to waking up. I assumed that I would slowly creep up on sub 200 but instead went from 203 - 197 in one night. I weighed myself six times because I couldn't believe it. That was yesterday. This morning I'm 196 so there is my usual pound. Anyone else ever have a huge drop overnight? I haven't lost that much in so little time since I had malaria
  25. I bought some gym shorts a month ago with no intention of every wearing them. I wore them this past weekend. Not at the gym, but around my father who was/is the root cause of all the emotional BS that triggered my overeating and self-esteem issues. He didn't say a word, other than to scold me for having a thigh tattoo he just now saw (that I've had for years). I haven't worn shorts since I was 10 years old because I was so ashamed of my thighs. I am now 30. So, after 20 years... shorts are back in the wardrobe.
