Puréed Stage: what are you eating?
lifeofblair replied to lisamstevens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a lot of yogurt, scrambled eggs. I was like you the first time I tried refried bean I got sick, but I tried them again and had success. I also did pudding and added protein powder to it. Applesauce with protein added -
In my opinion Siggis is the best for flavored yogurts. Their plain is good too though. For plain, I also really like Fage!

3 weeks out. Lost weight then gained!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you eat Greek yogurt? Cottage cheese? Tuna? You just may need to eat more frequently if you can't get enough in. Low Protein and low Water will have an impact on your weight loss. I suggest that it is probably a very good idea to stay off the scale until you are able to get your protein and fluids up. Until you do so, as far as I am concerned, the numbers on the scale are meaningless. -
Immersion blender vs bullet
Diana_in_Philly replied to cseidman's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have had an immersion blender for years for soups and sauces and would have never used it for smoothies. This weekend I bought the NutriNinja with Auto IQ from costco. (Way cheaper than anywhere else). I'm pre-op, but trying to lose and have been using it for fruit/protein and/or greek yogurt smoothies. I love it. I love that I can just put the lid on the cup and head out the door to the office. Yes, it is loud, so if everyone in the house isn't up they will be after I make my morning shake. -
Post-Op Diet Full Liquids?
Anna Marie Hopen posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am starting week two tomorrow and am allowed full liquids. I bought a bunch of Soup, but most the Soups I could find without noodles were full of Beans. Has anyone had any problems with beans after surgery? I also have read a lot of people saying they could have anything purred on their stage two diet. My diet plan only says "Full Liquids" plus yogurt and pudding. Do you think I could have something like hummus or blended avocado? Since they're pretty much the same consistency of yogurt? -
May 9th-13th sleevers
Freckles70 replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on May 10. Doing well so far. Had my one week followup with NP and NUT yesterday. I've been able to meet my Protein and Water goals but NP suggested increasing water by 16 oz since I seemed dehydrated. (I had been meeting my 64 oz of water with 48 water and including 2 protein shakes toward the total. This is allowed by my plan but they suggested trying for more water this week.) My typical day is as follows: unjury with 8 oz 1% milk 29g protein Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt 15g Premier Protein 30g Snacks: SF Jello pudding, SF jello, SF Popsicles. I've been lucky to feel very little restriction or pain. I'm dealing with some head hunger and cravings but generally making it through pretty well. Edited to add: HW 254, SW 242, surgery day 229, CW 221 -
Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op
Stillmissing replied to Kristina Mccarthy-Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 19 days out and I, too, have stalled. Just when I was finally hitting my Fluid and Protein intake. I try not to weigh myself too often, but every few days I get curious. I almost feel as if I constantly have something in my mouth, whether it's my Water bottle, yogurt, shake, etc. I will take the advice of those who are further out than me and relax. I will get past this and hopefully soon, I can post another loss. -
Do only 20% of RNYers experience dumping syndrome?
Threetimesacharm replied to gina171's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly, eating too much is NOT dumping. Eating excessive sugars or fats can lead to dumping; stomach pain, intestinal pain, sweating, diahreha, vomiting. I can eat fat and sugars from yogurt and milk. Any highly sugared food is a No/no for me. -

I hope today will be better.......they gave me Omeprazole to take but the instructions say to open the capsule and sprinkle it over pudding or yogurt........I'm on clear liquids until tomorrow! But I did take a small spoon ful of yogurt and sprinkled the pill over it and took it like that......also having a hard time sleeping, hense me posting on here before 3 am EST/ -
Do only 20% of RNYers experience dumping syndrome?
numeby2017 replied to gina171's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 7 weeks out but so far for me I avoid dumping by watching sugar intake which includes yogurt, milk, etc. And most important is eating slow, I learned the hard way twice eating too fast at work, never again. You build the habits, I'm still learning but wouldn't change a thing, no regrets. Sent from my KFSAWI using the BariatricPal App -
Orbera balloon scheduled for 5/12
michelleg46 replied to michelleg46's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
I'm on day 6 and I'm getting nervous that this won't work for me. I feel completely fine aside from a few cramps/spasm. I can drink Water fast, eat noodles/rice with Soup, and drink while eating. I really feel like I could have grilled chicken and veggies for dinner and be fine. Today I had a chicken noodle soup, chicken with rice soup, sf pudding, cottage cheese, Protein yogurt drink, and a sf applesauce. Is this too much food for day 6? I definitely could eat more but I'm stopping myself. I'm worried I'm going to be part of the precent that doesn't see the weight loss Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

How the hell do I get through this?
Daisee68 replied to befitnotskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
28 days??!! Holy cow! Girl, that is tough! I only did 7 days and that was hard enough! I think I would call the dr to see if you could eat at least once per day. 28 days of liquid only is a bit extreme. Other than that, lots of broth (Swanson's makes a Tortilla Soup broth that saved my life!), lots of sugar free popsicles, pudding and/or yogurt will help if you are allowed those. Which Protein shakes are you drinking? Make sure it is something you like that you can make thick enough to stick with you for a while. But yea, I would call and ask the dr to be a bit less restrictive. Even one small meal idea (even if just chicken breast) would save you. -
Agree I was all proud this morning my shake was over 40 G .....guess I will be going back to just powder and no yogurt in it!

Some programs include all kinds of gloppy things like puddings and yogurts as a "full liquid" while others go by a more classic definition (such as you can drink it through a straw....but don't use a straw!) So, it's another area where one needs to defer to one's surgical team as to what they want. It's an area where things like that never came into question on my doc's program as it never had a liquid only stage.

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
taramarie523 replied to taramarie523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Here's a little follow up since my original post!! I am now almost 3 week post op! I feel fantastic! In my original post I was so nervous about my sons class trip to the zoo that was 2 weeks post op. Well I had no problem going on that trip last week. I had energy to keep up. I just started pureed that day so I packed extra water with me and kept sipping all day and a yogurt for lunch time. I took a few spoonfuls of yogurt and was fine. No one else thought anything of it. The following day I had plans with a friend for my son and I to come over for a pizza play date. We went and I just said i was on a special diet brought a yogurt with me and declines the wine for water due to my "diet". The first few days post op were tiring but after day 3 or 4 I was raring to go. For me meal times were a little tough bc I do have 3 small children to prepare meals for. Breakfast and lunch were no big deal. Dinner was hard to make and sit down with my bowl of broth but it was short lived and it gets easier each day. So far I'm very happy with my decision to get sleeved. As far as keeping the secret to yourself it can be done and I wouldn't worry about anyone else. I'm talking about dieting and exercise with friends so hopefully it just looks like that's where he weight loss came in to play. My advice is just to be confident and this is our story we don't have to live an open book for the world to know. Negative people will make comments whether they no or not so just be confident in yourself and don't let anyone else get in your head! Cheers to you all! Good luck on your journey!! ❤️❤️❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Allow me to disagree. You can't expect somebody who's just had surgery to have 80-100gr a Protein daily. That's just not possible. I am three days out and my new stomac can't handle more than 3 table spoons of yogurt at a time if not less. We all do it at our own pase, as are all different. Weight loss is not a race and we all do it differently. My surgeon in fact dos expect it. He said there was no physical reason someone couldn't drink 3 premier Protein drinks in one day (33 oz of fluid/90 grams of protein) and expected us to do it. It can be done. It may take all day, but it can be done.I could not do it. Two was a struggle. I moved to EAS carb advantage at 17G protein/shake and could just get down two. It took me about a month and a half before I could do 3.

Wondering if you can have too much protein at once? I made my protein shake this morning and it had 49g of protein. I used unjury chocolate splendor fairlife 2% milk and oikos triple zero coffee yogurt.

Do you really think you'd be able to eat more than just one cookie now? Perhaps that is all your stomach could handle now. I totally get that you don't want to even go there because it was a trigger food for you. I was only 2-1/2 weeks out from my surgery when my sister had a 30th birthday party for my nephew. I brought my lunch bag with me so I could bring a greek yogurt, some applesauce, and a couple other options that I was okay to eat. There was some fabulous food there, but I had to sit and look at all of it while the rest of the party goers were eating. I did okay. Was I envious? Absolutely! But, I got through it because I knew what would happen if I ate even a small nibble. Do I think I'll never ever be able to "taste" some of the stuff that was there again? No. And that is what I tell myself. You cannot have that now, but perhaps somewhere down the line a little taste will be okay. I may not even like it anymore. My tastes have changed so much since surgery.
