  1. I have to say that the 8 week exercise program I committed to has been great. Althought, I hit a little snag last week. I had to cancel my Wednesday appointment with my trainer because I was feeling weak from my Tuesday fill. Then my trainer canceled our Friday appointment because of an issue on his side. Big bummer. The only organized exercise I got last week was 90 minues of walking. That doesn't come close to the 45 minutes per day I have been averaging. That's okay though. The way I see it, last week was a week that left me full of excuses and I still got in 3- 30 minute workouts. In the past, I would have done nothing AND I would have just stopped. Not this time!! Today I plan to Jazzzercise to start my week. I had a couple of NSVs this weekend. First, a guy told me I was pretty. I'm not going to qualify that with anything. A guy told me I was pretty and I'm quite sure he meant it. Yay! Also, on the flight to our destination this weekend, I told my friend that the last time I was on a flight the seatbelt didn't fit. The belts on the plane we were on were kind of long so she was shocked, but I told her that not all seatbelts are the same. I had plenty of room. However, on the flight back, I quickly saw that this plane had short seatbelts like I had encountered before. This time it fit! There was a older gentleman across the aisle from me who was having touble. He and his wife couldn't figure out what was wrong with his seatbelt. I knew that they were short and probably just didn't fit. The flight attendant came by shortly with an extender. I heard him and his wife talking about how they couldn't believe it didn't fit and what they were going to do about it. I couldn't have been more sympathetic. It was nice to know that in the four months since my last plane ride, I had made a big (no pun intended) enough change to truly make a difference. While I was writing this blog entry, something happened that makes me realize how much my life has changed. Today I was scheduled to meet a friend for lunch. She sent me an email and postponed. Shortly after, another friend that I work out with on Thursday's emailed me and told me that her boss had scheduled lunch with her during our next work out so she was planning to work out today. I brought work out clothes for Jazzercise after work, but usually if I work out at lunch & after work, I bring two sets of clothes (I sweat A LOT.) I decided that after last week, I need to make some extra effort. So, I'm going to work out at lunch AND Jazzercise today. I just have to find something to use for a towel. Don't get me wrong, I know this isn't anything earth shattering. But I'm just so proud of myself for being flexible instead of letting myself make excuses. That hasn't always been my M.O. I have my eye on the prize. This weekend marks the end of the month and it would be SUPER if I could have a 10 pound loss this month. To do that, I need to lose 2 pounds this week. I will let you all know how it goes!! I hope you all have a wonderful week!

  3. Anne-- congratulations on your date!!! I'll be counting down right along with you! How wonderful! I was so happy to read your NSV today as well. You must be on top of the world right now. Christie--woohoo! I despise that morbid word---MAJOR kudos to you for the bmi category change!!! What a terrific milestone! Bobbie--have a blast at the retreat. I used to love scrapbooking. Now it seems with 2 kids, 2 jobs, 3 dogs and a husband that's always working, I rarely have time to brush my teeth or shower these days LOL. I hope you have a great time! Betsy--how is Mark? Said more prayers at church this morning, my dear. HB-- I was so sorry to read about the snow! We had a record year here in the Northeast (PA/NJ), so I can relate to your misery! God, I can't wait to see the population explosion at the end of this year from all the snow days LOL Leigha--I'm sure all at once...BAM! 5 more lbs! You have been a freaking weight loss power house, girl! What a great goal you've set for yourself and I have no doubt you will do it! So I was finally able to have mushies today (hey, I'll take it!) I went to church around 10:30, then we went to brunch. I had most of an eggbeater/cheese omelet, a couple bites of potatoes, one piece of wheat toast all without incident. I then proceeded to have a couple of bites of my son's pancakes and was all STOP! Lol. I am thinking it was about 8 or 9 total ounces (which my doc confirmed is just fine). Needless to say I was finished at 1 pm and it's almost 7 and I still haven't eaten anything else. I am thinking I might be at a good place (well today anyway) because I was so starving in between meals before this fill I was just looking for food. Please pray this is "the one" guys. I have about 25 lbs to go until goal and I am so close I can taste it :-)! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Back to the grind on Monday! I took Wed, Thurs and Fri off for my fill appt, 6 months post op appt and school lunch with my son, so I have had a few days off. I soooo don't want to go back!!!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Way to go ladies!!!. I kinda had one last week. But I'm actually still kind of irritated at the person lol..... I had a n old friend come over to visit, and as soon as I opened the door her JAW DROPPED, and was like "Holy SH*T SA! YOU LOOK JUST LIKE YOU DID IN HIGH SCHOOL, and you have like the cutest figure ever!" Very much a compliment, much appreciated, but holding a grudge lol.... My second NSV this week was I had had a suit jacket dry cleaned in the fall, just because I was cleaning out my closet, it hadn't fit me in a good 2 years. It was warm but chilly here in NYC last wednesday so I decided what the heck, let me see if I can get into it yet.... Slipped on like a glove! only problem though I still can't button it, But hey, It looks adorable open with a nice scarf around my neck!!!!!! WTG everyone!
  5. I had a great day yesterday! A NSV, but it had nothing to do with my own weight or size. I have a stepson who has refused to have anything to do with me for the last year and a half, and he came with his wife and 4 wonderful grandchildren to spend the day with us. We all just let a lot of old baggage go, and it feels so good! Cold and rainy today. Oh well. The elliptical it is. Truly thanks for the cheers and support!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Wow, Ann and Mamadot, You are both super stars! That's exciting for both of you. My latest NSV is that I had forgotten about my old rings from many years ago. They all fit again. It's like getting all new jewelry. Gaye
  7. I started out at CJ Banks today and hit the fitting room with my usual armload of clothing--the girls all know me by name in there I am there so much! Anyway, they didn't recognize me--its been over 50 pounds since I shopped! once we got going I found nothing in there that fit--only isze 16W pants but I've decided to wear the 18's until I fit comfortably into a 14--ie can breath after buttoning them! I ended up leaving there empty handed with an escort from the store to the Christopher and Banks store in the same mall. I ended up buying nothing, but the XL tops were too big, L fit beautifully, but we don't go on vacation until end of July so I am holding out in hopes of medium! Pants were a whole new issue, no W after the number! I still left them all in hopes of 14's. SO NSV's moving from 24/26 to 18's and larges fitting in the non handicapped lavatory when out fitting into the little seats in the HS auditorium when my DD has a cello performance dropping two shoe sizes dropping from a 48DD to a 38 C I go to my reg Dr. in a few weeks and I can't wait to see my bloodwork numbers--hopefully by then I will be able to go off the cholesterol meds!
  8. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Just spent 25 min writing a lengthy note, and one of my kittens jumped up on my laptop and closed it ! I mean the whole computer !!!! SO, i'm gonna try this again ..... Anne - Congrats! the really WILL fly by! So happy for you HB - 12"Snow? WHere do you live? Antarctica? I'm in ND and it 70 here today ! Christie - Congrats on being Obese :-) Leigha - great goal! Happy Bandiverssary to those celebrating! No word yet from the douch at sears optical. That was Monday! LOSER I cant wait until the 5 of may - going on a scrapbook retreat for 5 days! Its at a resort in Minn. Lake, pool, hiottub, private cabins, meals served, golf, etc... its called Fair Hills Resort - sooo beautiful. we go there twice a tear ( spring and fall ) for these. Have any of you scrapbooked your journey?? I am. I saved all my paper work from pro op , classes, post op , and wrote my weight and nsv's in my calendar and transfered them. I have tons of before and progress pics. I figure the first 2 years are the most important. Its so cool to look at. I think WTF! Was I really that big?? I didnt feel like i was. I cant get over the difference. It makes me feel so proud to show it to others. Ok, kittens crawling up window screens !!!! Gotta go ! ttyl

A new NSV today -- my surgeon's nurse told me that I was their most successful patient ever! Wheee! Then the surgeon asked me to speak at an upcoming support group meeting. That would be a little weird, since I go to those meetings anyhow, but we'll see. How 'bout the rest of you? I know there are some NSVs out there just waiting to be shared!!

Whoo Hoo on everyone's NSVs! I got one today! I ran over to Macy's during lunch and had just ate, so I was a bit full, but tried on these pants that were a size 20. I have them in a 24, which is what I wore not just a month ago. Anyway, the 20's FIT. Zipped right up and buttoned!!! So, I bought them! I about fell over. I can't wait until I can say "Oh - these are a 14".

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi there to my Shrinking Shamrock buddies out there. Well I did another "shrinking" thing yesterday - had about 1000 grams removed during Breast Reduction surgery. I think the pain is definitely tolerable here in the first 24 hrs with some pain meds and can't tell you yet if the results look okay with all the bandages but I had alot of confidence in my surgeon. Anyway, it will be fun to update my Ticker to put another -2 lbs down! P.S. Great NSV to share --- no super size gown needed at the hospital - just the ordinary size they'd give to anyone to wear.

    NSV shout outs

I actually went to the GAP yesterday and bought jeans in 10's! I still can't even believe it, just three months ago I was barely in 18's and really could only shop at walmart and Lane Giant. It is so surreal... I still have about 40 pounds to go but when I was at my leanest in the past I was never below an 8. I was much more muscular but I have a hard time believing I'm only gonna drop one more size... Wowwwwweeee! Tshirts from xl to m, love it. So many more NSV's...! C

    NSV shout outs

Wow! No posts on here for awhile! I have had two NSVs in the last couple weeks that I was so excited about I had to share! 1) I have collarbones!!!! They're not skinny people collarbones yet, but they are most definitely there. I never woulda guessed. :sad0: 2) I went to a movie theater last week...and was shocked that I didn't need to use the armrests! I don't know that I have EVER had that happen. I've shrunk enough width-wise that my arms fit comfortably inside the armrests. Such a great one for me! :lol0: Keep posting here, guys! This is one of my favorite threads to read! :blushing:

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

Hi Gang... I have been away for a couple of weeks too.. with good things happening.. I don't know how much weight I lost since my last "current" because I don't get on the scale.. I have a doc appointment on the 26th for a third fill so I will know then... however, a NSV... my pants and skirts are getting longer:) I have found a need for some belts in the closet... the weight loss isn't huge but it is noticeable and clothes are getting rotated and I am wearing things I couldn't wear in two years...so that is great:) I have had a few 'stuck' moments.. or slow going through.. or , "oh my gosh that has to come up for me to feel better".... everytime I have one of those situations I am glad actually... it reminds me to not eat something, eat slower, or eat better.....so my Buddy Aid (my band name:) is helping me when I forget to help myself... Hang in there everyone.. keep those updates coming.. this is a changing year for all of us and I love seeing the success stories... Jen

Great NSVs! Last week I went to a spa and the girl handed me the standard robe NOT the Super Size one and it fit! No spa treatment could be better then the feeling I got from that.

    List Your NSVs for Inspiration

Thank you everyone for posting these. I am so happy for all of you. It is now 6 days until I joint to ranks of all you successful bandsters. On my blog months ago I posted my "wish list" of NSVs. I thought I would let the LBT community see what I am aiming for: 1) Walking into a regular clothing store and finding a new outfit for work (Big & Tall clothes are so expensive and they are cheaply made) 2) Traveling in Coach (It is great to fly Business Class but very expensive just because I cannot fit in a coach seat) 3) Riding roller coasters (I love thrill rides but often find myself waiting in line only to not have the restraint not fit my body) 4) Riding a bike (without worry of breaking it or running out of breath) 5) Not fearing the table at a restaurant (I never know if I will fit in the seat or booth. And if I do fit, I have to be careful not to break the chair when I move.) 6) Taking off my shirt when I go to the beach (It takes a long time to dry when you wear a shirt in the Water. And its hard to tan something that is covered up.) 7) A cheaper food bill (Not overindulging means cheaper food bills. When I go out I cannot wait to order from the children's menu and actually be satisfied.) 8) Not being afraid to exercise (As I mentioned above it is rough to put your body through its paces and then have it break because it cannot handle basic cardio and strength training.) 9) Riding a motorcycle (I want to be able to ride my own bike with my partner but most of them have weight limits of 400 lbs.)
  17. Going off my diebetes meds. was a huge NSV. Imade an appt. to get some bloodwork done. Maybe I can go off the blood pressure and cholesterol too! Clothes fitting that haven't fit in years is a great one too. I haven't needed to buy any clothes yet, despite a 67 pound weight reduction, since I had so many sizes in my closet.
  18. It's good to think about NSVs ... I am so with you galiardi, I feel young again too!! It's great! I went to the doc yesterday and this is the first time in years that my bp has been in the normal range! I was so excited! I am wearing hand me down clothing that were too too small when they were given to me and now they are getting too big ... I was a size 26 when I started this journey and now I am wearing 18s that are getting too big! I put on a pair of pants this morning to wear to work and said "these pants weren't too long the last time I put them on" ... my hips are SHRINKING! It's amazing watching my pants get longer ... wow! I was wearing a 46DDD bra when I started this journey and now my 42DDs are getting too big! Even my feet are getting smaller! I park my car farther from the store entrance ON PURPOSE, so I can get more exercise. I ran into a friend that is taking night classes at the same college I am and we were walking to our cars one night. She said "I'm parked right here", I said I park up the stairs so I can get more exercise". She looked at me like I was crazy and we both laughed! We have known each other a long time so she KNOWS that is totally out of character for me. She was very happy for me though. NSVs are great. Thanks for starting this thread. I have more to be thankful for than just numbers on a scale.
  19. What the heck is a NSV???? Is that some sort of woman thing??

Awesome NSVs so far! Keep 'em coming! I think buying smaller clothes is always a good one! And, feeling like you have a handle on food and won't go crazy - that's a BIGGIE, too!
  21. My favorite recent NSV - I just bought a pair of WHITE crop pants. Now for those of you "triangles" out there who always looked good in white pants - congrats. But for us pears, this was a huge leap. My first pair of white pants since...oh I don't know, grade school? My favorite NSV - feeling like I fit in and am "normal". People aren't looking or judging the fat girl anymore. And I have to say that the fact that food doesn't seem to have as much of a hold over me anymore is a great reliever. The feeling of having some sort of control of my food issues has been very liberating.
  22. Ok - so I'm still fairly early in this journey and had my first fill yesterday but I thought it would be good for us to list NSVs as inspiration for everyone. I haven't lost a large amount of weight, yet, but am already noticing some things. 1) My wedding band goes on and off without issues. It used to be so tight, I'd have to soap it up to get it off. LOL! 2) I had to fly this weekend and FIT in the seat decently and didn't have to suck in to get the seat belt to click. My butt didn't lift up the armrest between me and the next guy. 3) I have on pants today that are fitting comfortably and they were too tight just weeks ago. I was also able to get on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn since last year. And they zipped and I could BREATHE. 4) When I sit down, I don't feel this big stomach resting on my thighs. I know - terrible, right? I used to feel my big belly on my legs and now it's not as noticeable. 5) Had some "fun" with the hubby and didn't have any problems "reaching" because my belly wasn't in the way.
  23. hi everyone, i was banded 3/30/07 by dr spivak. getting the lapband was the best decision i ever made. it is one tool of many we need to lose weight. i am still a work in progress trying to maintain. enjoy the ride. it is exciting when you have the NSV's in addition to the scale victories. such as getting into a smaller size, seeing my collar bones for the first time in years (this was big for me), not shopping in lane bryant. i lived until recently in Katy. since beeing banded i met a great guy and we are getting married in october. the best gift of the band is to get my self respect back... anyway best of luck to all my texas sisters and brothers. there are alo of us on the site which is nice... josie

    a little NSV!

Yesterday I went shopping, and walked right past an angel food cake, and went and got a protein bar instead!!!
  25. Wanted to share a NSV...went bike riding yesterday for the first time in 6 years! I was a little wobbly at first, but really enjoyed myself once I got going.
