    Revision to RNY

I had Severe GERD before my sleeve and a hernia repair when my sleeve was done.. Within 2 months my hernia came back and my GERD has gotten far worse than I ever imagined. I am absolutely miserable and I'm taking 10 pills a day and zofran and GI COCKTAIL every day as opposed to 2 pills and occasionally zofran b4 sleeve. I'm waiting for approval from my insurance companies to get approval for the RNY revision surgery. I'm doing it for the GERD and tons of people are also having the revision surgery for the same reason. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Here was my first year. MUCH more spikey than @Cheeseburgh's beautifully smooth graph!!! This was from SD at 222.4 to beyond my first goal of 150lbs that I set. My doc's goal for me was 160lbs. My RDs goal for me was 156lbs. I think I hit that around the 9-10 month? Slow and steady wins the race. This time next year, you won't believe your progress--if you work it! And here's the graph from around 2/14 of this year to now, trying to hit my Goal #3 (which my doc and RD both say is never gonna happen--I think they've jinxed me cuz my body appears to be pretty happy floating between 136-141lbs. Today I'm at 138 and 27% body fat. I will not be defeated. I will figure it out and get to Goal #3 of 130lbs. As God is my witness!!! LOL. #obsessed
  3. In my second month after surgery I did not lose 1 pound for 20 days. I'm not going to lie, I was panic stricken. I've lost 19 pounds more since then. It will happen!

    June 2019 sleevers

That was HARD. Just make it a job. Keep the water next to you. And take a sip every 10 minutes or whatever you can tolerate. Just know that eating and drinking will be a chore for the next several months.
  5. I'm 6 years out, lost 150lbs and have maintained pretty well +/- 10 to 15 lbs. But I have noticed that my loose skin belly bulge seems to be growing disproportionately with my weight fluctuations...Even at my lowest weight my lower belly bulge seems to be getting larger with time? Any one else experience this? Any theories? Thx

    Multivitamins

I was approved for capsule after one month, but as Naiad say to check with your surgeon. I don't like the chewables. Surgery date 4/29/19.
  7. This isn't about fruit. @GreenTealael This is about being sleeved 2.5 weeks ago and eating ahead of his doctor's plan. And it's about eating about 1-1/2 - 2cups of food (any food) at 2.5 weeks, just starting into week 3. That is what concerns me. It also concerns me about the hedonism (binge response) of saying, "Screw my surgeon's prescription...I'm gonna eat what I want and right now, I WANT to eat 2cups of fruit." It's also about eating this kind of volume of any food in 10 minutes--AS IF IT WERE NOTHING--especially at 2.5-3weeks.
  8. I am 37, 5’4” and 238 lbs. I’m scheduled for July 1st! Have my final weigh in June 25th. I had to lose 10 lbs. After a few food funerals I’m almost there...gonna do two weeks of liquid diet to seal the deal.
  9. I had my sleeve last 04/24/19. Prior to my surgery, I didn’t get my period for about 2 months. About a week after my surgery, I got my period which was heavier than normal and lasted longer. I didn’t think of it too much but then I experienced little bleeding again about 2 weeks after. And it was just for a day. 19 days later I got my period AGAIN and today is my 2nd day and it’s Super heavy. I had never experience my period to be this heavy before. I am worried. Did this happen to anyone?
  10. Congrats on your 40 pound weight loss so far! Thats one of the best results I've seen on the forum in one month, so I'd say you are right on track if not a super loser! There is a chart out there that can tell you what to expect based on your starting weight. However - don't measure your success using someone else's ruler! Your journey is your own. I'm 10 months out and hopefully wrapping up my honeymoon period now, I've actually upped my calorie intake on my surgeon's request because he doesn't want my BMI to get lower than 20. My hunger returned almost 6 months to the day of my surgery. Until then I followed my surgeon's plan and ate near perfectly as I could to maximize my weight loss during that time - high protein, lots of veggies, no sugars or complex carbs. When the hunger came back it came back like a monster and I took a mild appetite suppressant to keep myself from grazing. I only needed it for about 2 months before the hunger monster died down (or I just got used to it?) But those diet pills were a saving grace! See you around the forum!

    Food getting stuck

That will get easier but is still a potential problem far out. I had it happen myself last night and I'm 10 months out. Just got too excited about my food and ate it too fast.

    IUD Before or After Surgery?

I've had the IUD for 10 years. I never felt it contributed to my weight gain. The extreme weight loss over the last year hasn't caused any problems with it's placement either. I highly advise you to have it placed by a GYN doctor and not a general practice physician though. It's more likely to be improperly placed by a GP than a GYN.
  13. Hello! I’m Simone and I’m 24 years old. Just like the majority of everyone else, I tried every diet under the sun. I loss 30 pounds by myself & gained it all back plus more. Last year I tried the Keto diet, loss 10 pounds my first month and gained it all back plus more as well. It gets discouraging to lose weight and gain it all back. I recently started my journey to VSG. 5-28 I had my first consultation with the surgeon at Mt. Sinai in NYC. So far, I have everything scheduled that I needed to schedule myself. The only thing that isn’t scheduled is the sleep study which they’ll call me for. I’m pretty excited for this journey & my new lifestyle that’s to come. I also have to lose 15 pounds by July 30th (when I see my surgeon again). I’m currently down 3.7lbs from June 1st. Today I have my Cardiology Clearance. It had to get rescheduled from yesterday due to them scheduling me on a day the cardiologist doesn’t come in. It was pretty annoying having to go all the way there just to find that out. But it is what it is. I’ve been using Instagram to post my journey so if anyone wants to follow each other, leave a comment with you IG username or you can follow me @CurlyGirl_GetsFit . RNY @ 220

I'm 5'3" and had bypass at 228 lbs 10 weeks ago. I also had GERD/acid reflux. I'm happy with my choice. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I will be 7 months out 6/10. I have lost 110 lbs and feel fantastic. I recommend that you don’t buy a lot of protein drinks in advance. Buy a few at a time. I taste tested ones pre-op then went out and bought several cases only to not be able to tolerate the taste post op. My taste buds have changed since surgery. Buy a good digital food scale, I also use Fitness Pal to track my macros and my progress. Don’t eat or drink things ahead of when you should. Stick to the post op diet. My doctor said no carbonated drinks, no gum, no straws and I don’t cheat because I don’t ever want my sleeve to expand. It’s a tool that requires respect and to be used the way it was intended. Eat slow and chew. If you feel like you are getting full don’t take that one extra bite. I am so happy I had the sleeve, my energy level has increased 100 percent.

  20. My surgery was 5/23 and that large incision is the only thing left that hurts in the slightest. Zero problems overall. But I'd describe the pain level as mildly annoying, not a 10. Maybe a 3? And my pain was AWFUL the first 24 hours - 48 hours but faded off.
  21. vovo2013

    The Maintenance Thread

I've been in maintenance for just under a year and had hit goal really quickly (6-8 months), so still had a large restriction when I started. I switched my diet to nutrient dense foods and try to eat stuff that I really like. Even now I'm still very restricted (5 oz of solid stuff max per meal and if it's like meat it takes a long time to digest (~hour). I'm really active so I have to get in enough calories or I lose weight and if I move off my current weight I just don't feel good. My BMI is still on the high side, but I'm not a good BMI body type (lot of muscle) so the DR's are very happy with me at this weight. Food wise I'm consuming about 2300 calories per day with a range of maybe 1500 - 3k depending on what I'm doing. I tracked in great detail for the first year. Now I still track but only spot check days here and there. My big tracking is a weekly weigh in and as long as my weight is within a 5 lb range I'm happy. If I'm low I make an effort to eat a little more, if I'm high I make an effort to eat a little less or more lean stuff. Foods for me consist primarily of protein with limited carbs and very minimal fruit and vegetables (I would love to eat these, but I don't have time / room and if I eat them then I don't get enough calories). I generally eat when I feel hungry and this works out to 3 meals and 3 snacks per day. Here's an example of what I might eat on a normal day: Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 slice american cheese, 1 bagel thin with butter ~10am snack: Apple fritter (450 calories - yeah not the greatest...) lunch: 4 oz chicken salad with light mayo, 1 bagel thin with butter, sometimes 1 oz of crackers or pretzels ~3pm snack: 10 crackers and 3 oz of cheese slices Dinner: steak 4 oz (or 1 sausage or repeat lunch or breakfast) ~8pm snack: Plain popcorn with salt or bagel thin, or crackers and 3 oz of cheese or italian ice or if I worked out a lot or am starving repeat a meal I shoot for 64 - 100 oz of water I don't eat every snack / meal every day and on days when I'm running a few miles, biking or other calorie intense exercise I'll eat more. If I get busy I forget to eat or run out of time so am low on calories. If I feel like I'm eating too much I'll have something that fills me up quickly like 1/4 cup of rice or steak or something else that makes me full and won't let me eat additional foods. I generally don't eat potatos, pasta or rice as I'm immediately full with these and can easily end up in pain. Great thread and hope this helps someone. I'm really happy with my new lifestyle and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything food wise and generally just eat when I'm hungry.
  23. I was sleeved 05/24. I have been suffering from severe pain at my largest incision where my excess stomach was removed. Like 10/10 pain with basically any movement. I saw my surgeon who states there is a dissolvable suture in that muscle and once it dissolves in about another week, the pain should improve. Has anyone else experienced this? He put me on a muscle relaxer and a very strong narcotic today. Feeling quite discouraged. Everything else post-op has been fine (drinking/eating/my other surgical sites). TIA.

Just wondering if anyone from NC

I’m having ds Friday with Dr Pilatti and I also live in Clayton in the 42 east area. I am having revision from lapband after nearly 10 years.
  25. Well i have another Endoscopy scheduled- have not heard from Columbus recently- believe after the Mid-May fiasco with those 2 nurses at the clinic They now are practicing Structured Neglect. Well I have worse things I could call it but I am a lady, at least my parents raised me to be a lady. Well a couple other problems have popped up, shall we say gastrointestinally. Not the pouch but much farther downstream, my theory after the recent flare- ups maybe developing IBS or Crohns, oh I will be thrilled if I am wrong. So on the 12th of June, coincidentally Tomkitten's birthday, age supplied on demand, my gastroenterologist, here is doing it, my PCP set itup. Am I worried? WELL just a little, I had hoped after my RNY I would be in the lap of healthn not finding and addressing these bothersome little blips. The more I lose, the more things they seem to be finding. Its like my fat was sheiding things from view! Oh down deep I suppose I'm grateful but every test seems to have a " by the way" attached. And I long to scream WHAT NEXT? I am thinking about getting a job as a Sewing Dummy, that way, they can put markers and pins wherever they desire. And my weight is continuing to diminish, know they will weigh me at Ambulatory Surgery, last weight was 203, so it's not impossible I have jumped over into Onderland, as I have been losing still !3-5 pounds every week to 10 days. See while I was on TPN. my weight loss crawled down almost to a stall, in the month after it was removed , I dropped 30 pounds, ka-thunk, so truly my "Honeymoon Period" was merely deferred and I am still quite actively losing. Also haven't had a full Blood Test since my iron. INFUSION in March. Oh there has been blood dra2n for other purposes but NOBODY has checked my Iron Level. PCP said in his experience Infusions might be Every 3 Months, well another thing Thing1 and Thing 2 at the clinic don't care about! I logically should be having another in June. If nobody wants it, I'll just keep and use all I have! So my lovelies, that's how Frustr8 turns in the wind, toppling over into 18s, missed 24 completely, and haven't,been in 20-22 too long, maybe month/ month and half, but the slacks are starting to slide down and some of the tops are so loose it looks they are Maternity smocks, went through everything I still have, packed 9 boxes 18 by 18, they're left over from when,I got TPN supplies, see a lot of them were frozen for freshness, so these were Styrofoam with lids. Make nice,Mini-coolers for soda pop or beer, neither of which I drink anymore. Oh really nothing still taste good, no sweet tooth, and when I do think of something , 2 or 3 bites and I AM DONE, even my homemade soups, maybe 1/4 cup tops , found out my,own taste better than canned. I notice, the Chunky or Progresso Light, seem to be chicken or chicken-broth based, and Guess What, I am no longer enamored of the fowl🐥anymore And his or her fruits of labor, eggs come bouncing right back up if I try to eat them. Precious Pouch,is much more picky than a monarch would be. So to keep peace my diet is morning and, pretty bland, have not cut protein shakes out, they often are my breakfast or Early Day choice. Usually make powder up with 1% milk, a compromise with TK, still tastes almost identical to the 2% we used to buy. So I will update you of anything newsworthy, but right now these tests are the high light of my Bland & Dull life.
