    Smooth move tea

I've been using benefiber - it is tasteless. I use it twice a day in water or in yogurt and it helps!

7 days out no restriction WTF

Cream of wheat or thin mashed potatoes are on my approved list along with greek yogurt and strained soups. I really can't wait till I can just puree some meat and vegetables though cause these foods seem so carbs to me I guess that's why I'm only supposed to eat 2oz
  3. @@OutsideMatchInside thank you for that! I weigh everything too! Sometimes I can eat my 5oz light & fit yogurt like its nothing, other days I struggle to eat 2oz. Glad my struggle is not an abnormal one. Lol thank you! @@VSGAnn2014 thank you!

    Weight gain 5 weeks post-op

I have done better yesterday and today. Before that I was nauseated all the time and I know I was way low on protein and Fluid because I didn't feel like eating or drinking. I'm still trying to figure out my protein measurements. A little tuna, refried Beans, lunch meat, cottage cheese, yogurt. Trying to figure out how much protein in each little serving is difficult. Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App I log all my food in the app myfitnesspal. Itll help you see how much youre actually eating.

    Starting purées a day early

I've been eating a super thick Greek yogurt (Oikos triple zero) since day 2 so after talking to my husband I decided to give the refried beans a try. They were DELICIOUS! I did a 1/4 cup with an oz of melted shredded cheddar and it went down very smoothly and easily.
  7. Sf Hawaiian Punch packets are better to me than crystal light. I also make high Protein sf/ff pudding with unjury and eat Greek yogurt and the 4 ounce cottage cheeses. All high protein and good Snacks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Too much restriction?

At 2 weeks post op I could not even eat food at that point, just protein shakes. But at 2 months post op - when I'm not drinking fluids I'm eating. I get between 500-800 (shooting for 1,000) calories a day. At the gym, I have been burning between 4-500. I need to eat more to lose in fact I was in a stall, and started eating more and broke the stall. I have between 5-6 meals a day all small in ounces (between 2 and 4 usually, 5 oz is pushing it), but all jam packed with protein (tuna, chicken, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, low fat cheese, etc). My doc said I should be eating 3 meals a day and no snacking, but I can't do that and get enough food in. So I have been doing this, and nearly 2 months and 40 pounds down, I would say its working. Maybe try to look on here for other recipes, and things you can eat at your stage. Everyone's body is different. It will get better! Good luck!

    Pouch is too small

You don't have a pouch, and no, that's not an interchangeable word. Sip on your Protein shakes all day if you have to. Skip the broccoli for now, it's too fibrous, mushy or not. Oatmeal and potatoes aren't a great choice, but a high protein Greek yogurt is. Go for something like Greek Light and Fit. Retried Beans are a good choice as is your chicken salad. I am three years out and still have a hard time with hard boiled eggs, but I can eat them cooked scrambled and very wet. SF pudding with Protein powder stirred in is an option, as is seafood salad, crab cakes, hummus and guacamole. I am three years out and my restriction isn't much looser than yours. I thank my surgeon for that every day. I WANT to eat at times and I am so glad I can't. I never want to be fat again. This is my new normal and I Celebrate it every day.

    Pouch is too small

wow, did they really say that oatmeal, yogurt and potatoes don't have a lot of nutritional value?
  11. Sleeve and pouch were interchangeable I thought. Nonetheless I'm eating pretty slow and I use the small spoon at home but today I was at work on my 30 minute lunch in the break room so I didn't want to break out my toddler spoon and have people asking a bunch of questions. My doctor has me on soft foods not so much pureed. I had chicken salad so it's pretty mushy. And my broccoli was overcooked and mushy too. I take my Vitamins but really kind of over the Protein shakes. I was hoping to just get the protein from food but that's not looking too good either. He strongly advises against yogurt because of the sugar content, pretty much he said "no sloppy foods" like oatmeal, yogurt, and mashed potatoes, that don't really contain a lot of nutritional value. Unflavored Protein

I use Designer whey unflavored, only because it's in my local health food stores and I didn't have to order it online. I really don't taste it and usually mixe it with 2Tbsp PB2 and almond milk for my shakes. I still use Premiere Protein, but it's a nice change from the sweet flavors. During the soft stage I added it to my Greek Yogurt, scrambled eggs, ect. Good luck to you and your husband next week!
  13. When I know my family will be having cake, I make myself a mug cake. 1 scoop Protein powder (I've used banana, chocolate and blueberry), 1 scoop Carbquik (can also use a nut flour plus baking soda), an egg, a scoop of cottage cheese, ricotta, or greek yogurt, and add milk until it looks like batter. Microwave in a bowl or larg mug for 1-1.5 minutes. When I say scoop, it's the same scoop as the Protein Powder so all equal parts.
  14. Also I know all surgeons are different. But I wasn't cleared to eat chicken when I was at your point. I started out on a pureed consistency foods like scrambled eggs, yogurt, refried Beans, then progressed to canned meats like tuna and chicken. And forget about trying to eat broccoli, focus on Protein and take your Vitamins. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  15. @@Express09 - stuffing is too risky IMO as it could form a ball in your new tummy. That is why the soupy type mashed potatoes are allowed at this point, although there is no Protein (unless you add unflavored) value. I have added flavored powdered protein to unflavored plain greek yogurt for a pudding type snack. I use 1 scoop (25 or so grams of protein, depending on what you are using) and added the flavored protein to a consistency I would call like pudding.

    Too much restriction?

I'm 2 weeks post op and it takes me about 4 or 5 different sittings just to get one Premier Protein shake in. I need to focus on protein for the healing process as you do as well. I would substitute cottage cheese or yogurt for the oatmeal... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Too much restriction?

I was/am on puree. Just now integrating very soft foods. But I will be four weeks post op on Wednesday I was able to handle two small spoonfuls of cooked oatmeal on friday and then a yogurt and then a tablespoon of ground meat all day and was stuffed Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App
  18. I've been making it with milk to bump up the protein and improve the texture. (I find that thicker textures like yogurt and pudding go down easier for me.) That was per my NUTs original advice. I'm going to call her tomorrow to follow up.
  19. OKCPirate

    Can't get ahold of NUT

Creme of Wheat would be a better choice. I think I really stuck to yogurt. I just didn't want to waste limited space on carbs. Though I do think I had some Underwood chicken salad based on someone's recommendation. Wasn't my cup of tea.
  20. 2 1/2 years out 1. Can you still enjoy the same foods with just a smaller portion size? Yes. Except beer....can't do carbonation. But even though I would "enjoy" eating cheesecake, garlic bread, pad Thai, etc everyday doesn't mean that I do. They are now treats I might eat a couple times/year You need to make serious adjustments to your food choices in order to be successful long term. Just because you CAN eat something doesn't mean you SHOULD. 2.What are the portion sizes that you can eat? depends on the food....1/4-1/2 cup of steak or chicken, 1 cup of soup, Greek yogurt or veggies, 2-3 cups of things like popcorn, and probably unlimited portions of chips or ice cream (never tried to find an end point). This is why your choices are so important. You can eat way more of the things you shouldn't be eating. 3. Do you regret having this surgery? Not for one minute

    Chewing Again...

Oh thank God! I'm not the only one! Tomorrow is 3 weeks since my surgery and I can finally start on the yogurt, mashed potatoes and creamy Soups. While I'm grateful I can do that I'm dying for textured food!! I have to wait another two weeks for that. I hope I can make it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Chewing Again...

Congrats u made to day 20 I have barely made it to day 10 and am horrible, I'm craving sweets and chips real real bad! I really need to get out of this slump I'm over the yogurt and soup and I'm starving , mentally. I've even had a few chips. I don't want to fail but can't help but think what if it's not gonna work !! What if my sleeve is not right why do I feel hungry?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm almost two weeks post op and have been doing well. Over the past three days I've noticed that whenever I drink a protein shake I'm feeling nauseous and extremely tired afterward. These don't seem like traditional lactose intolerance symptoms but I'm wondering if that could be the problem. I do have some almond milk and vegetarian protein powder I can switch to but I won't get as much "bang for my buck" in terms of protein. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm meeting or exceeding protein and water goals so I'm not dehydrated. The nausea does go away with Zofran. I don't have this problem with yogurt.
  24. @@Esq123 - you might want to try Protein drinks before jumping in to soft foods. After that, it might be best to ease into it with smooth Soups, yogurt, etc.. After a week I was fine with scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, etc.. In the meantime, to ensure that you're getting more fluids, I highly recommend ice (chips) and Popsicles. I lived on both the first couple of days (the thought of anything else made me queasy). BTW, if you feel up to soft foods you're probably ok, but better to be safe than sorry, especially if you're cramping (i.e. having to digest solid foods might make that worse?). I fortunately have not had any cramping but I know a lot of people have. Hopefully they can give you better insight regarding how they progressed on the diet front. :-) Best wishes and I hope you're feeling 100% soon!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Day 20 and I'd really, really like to chew food again! I'm so over Soup, yogurt, Protein drinks, and eggs. I rarely get hungry, but when I do, it's not for Premier Protein shakes. And I eat such small portions that I can't get motivated to explore options...I hope I pull out of this funk soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
