  1. Gall Bladder will work. I just had mine out on 5/9/19. I’m pre op and the incisions I have seen on some of the blogs look close to what I have.
  2. I’m 52 I just had my Gastric Bariatric Surgery June 3rd 2019 and I’m loving it!
  3. We are almost twins! I am a patient of Dr. Fearing as well, and have similar stats (I am an inch shorter and about 10 pounds more than your current weight). Have you scheduled your surgery yet? Mine is 6/17. How are the Unjury powders? I haven't had any of them but would love to mix up my current liquid diet of Premier Protein shakes! Good luck to you!

Just know this Life-saving life-changing Youll never be the Sane as u were before ur goal when eating js to provide ur body with nutrition to sustain ur life. It will never be about fun anymore when I eat. If u choose cake over a meal, u will not be taking care of ur body. just remember this...if they tell u it’s time to get up and walk, get up and walk, walk, walk, walk, walk , walk. Drinking in the beginning will be a chore. Take a sip every 10 minutes. With me, I the second day, the day I went home. I walked around the ward, and every time I got to my room, I’d sip water then go back around again, I did that for like 45 minutes. When u get home. Get up every 15 and take stroll around the house, when u do, take a sip of water. be very methodical and you’ll be fine plan good, luck

    June 2019 challenge

6/10: Jumping jacks will likely be done - trainer session today at 5:30! I would like to be remembered for my honesty. Someone who anyone could come to for straight-forward advice and someone who, for better or worse, never lied. Also someone who was always faithful and loyal in friendships and in relationships. And someone who cared about her community and is trying to make it a better place to live, even though it has its share of troubles.

    June 2019!!! Surgery Siblings!!!

Did anyone not lose that much weight during their preop diet? I’m on day 5 of 10 of a 5 shakes/day diet and I’ve only lost 4.6 lb! I have my pre op testing tomorrow and am worried what they’ll say, esp. b/c people here seem to lose 10-15 lb (or more!) in the typical 2 weeks 😱 Part of me is a bit disappointed too, b/c a bigger loss pre op seems like a good kickstart to the whole process?

    Coffee 2 months out??

At 2 months out I tried 8oz of weak coffee mixed with 11 oz premier vanilla shake I felt more energy and it help with constipation. I gradually moved up to 8 oz of reg strength in 5.5 oz protein shake. and I drink 2 cups every morning. I'm now at 10 months out and sometimes I drink a regular cup of coffee with non dairy creamer, but I still try to drink 2 premier shakes every day to make sure I get in my proteins I'm at my goal (135 lbs), down 61 lbs and I want to make sure I eat enough vegetables and fruits so I have hard time eating proteins. shake with frozen fruit in blender. Shakes are so sweet that I started mixing then with fruits or unsweeted decaf tea at a couple of months out. My surgeons PA has always said to try a small amount of something and see how you feel.I've learned pretty quickly what my body doesn't like. This forum has really helped a lot.

To Tell or NOT to Tell

2.75 years out I started out by keeping it to myself as I was a little embarrassed I guess maybe I told 10 people . But the longer it’s been the more I own it. Now if someone ask I normally just tell them. People will always judge idgaf honestly. My wife’s friend who doesn’t know makes jokes about it being the easy way out and my wife laughs and we joke Bout it because my pre op and post op diets freaked my wife out and she saw that it’s not EASY at all!
  14. I'm 10 weeks out from RNY gastric bypass, and have no regrets even though I developed an uncommon complication. That being said, serious complications are rare. I am happy with my choice, and rate of weight loss. go for it!! Best wishes. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. I'm just curious if there are any other Chemical Plant operators (or any other plant position) here working shift work who've gone through the sleeve and how your experience has been. With such a labor intensive job I am sure that recovery will be different than that of people with desk jobs or less labor intensive jobs. Im an Operator and My Husband is an I&E Tech, we will both be sleeved 7/9/19 and are planning to take off about 4 weeks due to the lifting restriction.

    Drinking Post Op

I'm preparing myself for admission to a 45-day rehab for alcohol addiction post RNY gastric bypass. This is not the first round of treatment. I had my gatric bypass 10/1999 in San Diego CA at the facility operated by Drs Clark and Wittgrove. By nine months post op I lost 106 pounds and maintained that loss through 2008. However, during that time I also began experiencing and struggling with a dependence on alcohol. Dr Clark explained that once I physically adapted to my new physiology, I could re-introduce various other foods and drinks, determining whether they would compel the infamous "dumping syndrome". Sugar was a definite "no consume", but when I went to my family's traditional Sunday brunch several months post op and slaked my thirst with a flute of champagne, I did not experience dumping syndrome. All I felt was a "super high" from the sip I took. After that, the game was on. My addiction began in earnest. Dumping Syndrome I was warned about. There were no flags waved before me about the possibilities of alcoholism and alcohol addiction. I am waving those flags now! I first went into treatment April of 2008. I did not complete the relapse segment of treatment because I had scheduled reconstructive surgery for a work related injury. The surgery schedule overlapped that final stage of rehab. I think God walked with me through those years because I remained sober until my mother began dying in late 2016. It was then I began drinking volumes of wine that increased to the equivalent, on average, of 4 bottles of wine a day. Occasionally, I thought drinking vodka a better alternative than drinking wine. Don't ask me why. The mind of an addict. I returned to wine. Drug of choice. Drug of self-destruction. One day I decided to try and find out why and and how my "take it or leave it " attitude toward alcohol became a "can't live without it " condition. On the internet, I discovered that, as gastric bypass patients, we are unique. In the same way that we each do not necessarily experience dumping syndrome, we do not experience the effects of alcohol the same. Post gastric bypass, my physiology became hyper receptive to the effects of alcohol, particularly the initial high produced from its consumption. I believe there is no way on this planet that I am unique in this experience. I want others to know, as I now seek treatment a second time on June 13, 2019, that if this is happening to you, don't wait, don't blame yourself, it's your body reacting to the changes made. Be totally honest with those treating you. Only then, hopefully armed with what I'm writing here, can you get the medical help, psychological treatment and ongoing care that will make you whole. Revision to RNY

I believe so. When I had the Gastric Sleeve about 10 years ago, I went from 105 kgs to 60 kgs. Weight snuck back on after 7-8 years though, and I was often hungry after this due to the reflux I had. I no longer have reflux and believe I will now get down to about 65-70 kgs weight and be able to retain that due to the bypass. But of course everyone’s story is different and you need to decide for yourself.
  22. I had surgery on 5/29, was tolerating fluids well. On my second night home I awoke to what felt like hunger pains I had about 2 oz of protein shake and it seemed to subside but came back every couple hours. Day 5 post op I started having difficulty tolerating any and all fluids, regardless of how minute my sips it hurt and my stomach would cramp. Today is day 10 and I am tolerating warm liquids only. I am not able to get the protein shakes or clear protein liquids down. A Has anyone else experienced this?

I had gastric sleeve 12/26/10 — 5 1/2 months out. Feel fabulous. One of the BEST things I’ve ever done and not just for myself. I want to be a healthier and more fit and more fun wife, mama and Gramma! I truly feel the best is yet to come! Oh — down 52 lbs! Almost 1/2 way there!
  24. I've decided to jump on the IF bandwagon to try to shed my last 10 pounds. Any advice for how to combat morning exhaustion? Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Well Well Well, you have broken the 300 lb barrier--that was when I felt this might be doable. Now I seem to be stuck at 205, wanted Onderland so badly but it's like I see it loaming ahead, I almost have reached it, but now? Maybe a mini-stall? I am 9 months out, have led a charmed existance, even when I had a PICC l8ne for 3 months and was being fed TPN I still was losing,a few pounds monthly. ALMOST immediately after it was D/C I lost 30 pounds - kathunk. Now I have gotten back my "Honeymoon" wait loss phenomenon, was bouncing along, just ducky. Have made it into size 18s, many people start their WL there, but I was once 365+ pounds, wearing sizes 28 and 30W clothing when I could find it, usually in Mens Sweats for comfort, so you see, 18 is a THRILL for me! And me Oh my, the selection doubled in accessibility at 20, and even more at 18. That's a REAL PEOPLE size, dontcha know! Still feel my Precios Pouch is not quite right, I was told after my April 12th endoscopy that my opening between my pouch and,he jejunem (second intestinal portion) was " patent". medicalese for "open" so go ahead and advance my diet off of purees, soups and protein shakes. Ha Ha to the INTH Degree- I may have Looked openopen, but the real truth is; my pouch refuses to keep things thicker, even well- chewed down. I have kept up vitamins and other meds but still having the ulcer and pouch pain, lose things in rapid emesis after chewing, trying to eat more varied things, average 7- 10 emesis sessions weekly, so this Wednesday the 12th of June, another Endoscopy, was adding,up the, other day, it is my 12th or 13th Lifetime, I think I could almost start my own I also now have Bowing of my Vocal Cords, it is (a) A normal result of aging, I am 73 now.(b) pressure from my thyroid, nodules that continue v to grow, albeit slowly. Most doctors , especially my PCP and my ENT don't feel this is the reason (c) Too many endoscopy tubes going in has traumatized them. I either lose my voice or it sounds husky and strained. So I have, been having Speech Therapy, and I think it is working for me, although it never did for former President Bill Clinton. But I am still hopeful, not giving up now! Called my Bariatric Clinic one day when I had off and off upchucking, nurse who finally spoke to me was nasty, told me I was sick in my mind, I should know there was NOTHING WRONG with me, didn't need to travel to Columbus, I needed rather to call my county's Mental Health people and set up an appointment there. Stopped everything except fluids, did them slowly, 2 oz every 15 minutes, like I did when my pouch was newborn, and finally, kept down popsicles, and then sugarfree pudding before I dropped off to sleep. Saw my PCP in 2 days, said I was Not Going Wacky-woo, thought they were blowing smoke, said perhaps THEY were more the problem than ME. I should have had my quarterly iron assessment in June, I had an Iron INFUSION in March- well they have not Darkened my Phone Do it since I heard from Thing1 andvThing 2 in Columbus, didn't have another Clinic appointment until August, when I will. be a full11 months out. If they won't do for me, neglect me in this manner, let's see what can be accomplished locally. Plus last week, after an ER visit I was diagnosed with ileitis, inflammation and slight dilatation of the 3rd portion of my small bowel, is it transitory of the beginning of Crohns or IBS? Good thing an endoscopy is already scheduled, so one more thing for my gastroenterologist Dr Upchurch to check out. Until Tuesday evening continue on my Slow but steady liquid/puree diet. Started making my own soups currently have Beef Vegetable and Split Pea on hand, heat,up 1/2 cup and see what I can take in. Last week was cream of Cauliflower, have also made broccoli and,noodle-less chicken multi- veggie. Thought it might be easier, cost-efficent , and this way no preservatives etc like in processed canned soups. Hey it is BORING but it does keep me alive. And I am 115 pounds lighter than I was at Surgery Time, my inward question is "Am I killing slowly my body for this weight loss? I sure have things crop up when EVERYONE ELSE is dropping BP and Diabetes meds, my pill list stays the same or grows. Yeah we All have our 0wnTrip, but am I on the Last Train to Clarksville and just don't know it?
