I don't get. I love my wine like the next person. I was having it shipped to me a small winery in California, but when I decided on surgery I stopped the shipments. I'm now 5 weeks out and focusing on getting and being healthy. I don't miss having a glass of wine, nor do I feel I need to or want to. I've been out with friends twice and on both occasions encouraged them to have their wine.... I just stuck with water. My surgeon recommends waiting 1 year. I may wait that long or I may not. I don't have a plan at this point. But I know this, I opted for surgery to be a healthier me. I know all the ways to cheat the system, but I'm only cheating myself. Once I have my eating in balance and I've achieved my goals then I look at enjoying a 'normal' life. So I have to ask...what is more important to you? Wine or a better life?

Here is the run down... Had vsg 2 years ago. Lost 180 pounds. Pre-vsg I had a slew of health issues. PCOS, high lipids, high blood pressure, diabetes...you name it, I had it. Now...I am 10 weeks pregnant. I see a high risk ob with consultation from my Bari surgeon. However, I now have to eat every hour or two and for the first time in my life, I am constantly hypo! Docs are ok with 1 hour post meal bs at 70. My body is not. I also had two miscarriages pre-vsg and was constantly hyper with them. I am struggling to keep weight gain at a minimum but loading carbs is zapping me! Any advice?

Norma, I hadn't been on the site for a while. It is good to see you posting again as when I was here last it had been a few weeks since you had posted. Was wondering how you were doing. -
Had surgery almost 10 weeks ago and I am half way to my 'goal' weight of 165!!! Im not that particular at what my goal weight was, I just chose half of what I started at. Started at 331, at 248 right now! Lost 83, 83 to go! Woohoo!

At 8 weeks I was pretty much unable to over-indulge. Now at 10 months I can a little. I suggest you do what you have been doing which is protein first, then filling the edges with healthy things. We usually have a couple healthier vegetable dishes and a tiny bit of mashed potato won't hurt anyone. Just eat the turkey and veggies. They're good for you.

When, or if, you have been nauseous or vomitting and you go back to liquids for a day or so to help calm the tummy back down, do you do clear liquids or full liquids? I have been nauseous on and off for a few days now and have went back to full liquids like soups. But that has not helped the nasuea. So I guess clear liquids is the way to go? I am about 5 weeks out so am supposed to be eating soft foods. Doesn't sound appealing at all. Just the thought of eating makes my saliva glands go into overdrive...in not a good way.

I had a little port pain after doing abdominals 4 weeks after surgery. My doctor just told me to take it easy another week or two and then I should be fine. I have no problems now. At 7 weeks out you should be just fine as long as you are using appropriate lifting technique and are not overdoing it. Just listen to your body. Start easy and if you are not sore the next day or so then you know you can pick up a little more. If you are careful and listen to how you feel, it is not likely that you will injure yourself.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had any complications from lifting weights after surgery? I am 7 weeks post op and have lost 40 pounds so far, but I know to keep losing I need to exercise more. I have been doing a few light weights...ab machines...leg press, etc....nothing too heavy along with aerobic activity. I did speak with a nurse at my doctor's office this morning and she stated that everything should be fine; however, I am self pay and certainly cannot afford any complications. I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

I think you are so brave for taking such a big step so young in life! I'm 21 and just got sleeved 6 weeks ago. I've been fat my entire life and a major injury at age 12 put me in similar shoes you're in. Only you know what you need and what's right for you. One of the most common regrets I've seen is "I wish I had had WLS sooner". You won't have to worry about that. You're taking control NOW. good for you

What helps me is the 5:2 diet. I plateaued for 2 months, have lost 3 lbs since starting this 2 weeks ago

Ugh having a hard time finding comfort
mullberry7 replied to mullberry7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a new depressed feeling. I really thought I had depressed on lock down. I suppose you could be right. But the feeling is more frustrate and lost. Misunderstood. Once I'm cleared to start running again next week. I look forward to it. Perhaps that will help. I feel like I have lost friends as thy have been jealous of my weight loss. But it comes with a price a huge price and I need to find my new way. -
Hi Sandi, I'm in Pennsylvania...where are you? I'm not having a problem with wanting to eat anymore, probably because I have been on a 6 month diet (insurance company made me do it  ) But it was a good thing, taught me to eat smaller meals and exercise. My doctor has his patients do a 2 week preop liquid diet. On my last week of that until after my surgery then it's back on for a week or two. But it's so worth it. I'm not the least bit nervous but I've been having weird weird dreams and not about the surgery but after I lose all the weight the skin on my arms is hanging so low it's dragging on the ground. Weird right. Good luck Sandi and congrats 123 Do either of you know how to add the tracker and and all those other things that I see on some other post?

three weeks post op today!!! WHAT SHOULD I BE EATING??
TSB replied to mommyx2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc has me on mushies for 2 weeks. I find that scrambled eggs and refried Beans with melted ff cheddar cheese are two food choices that keep me full the longest. I usually have just one egg and when I have the beans I eat 1/2c. w/ 1/4 c. of shredded ff cheddar cheese melted into it. on my fourth week post-op I am to do soft foods for 1 wk and then I can progress to regular foods on week 5. But like everyone else said, you should probably check with your doc. -
three weeks post op today!!! WHAT SHOULD I BE EATING??
davsil replied to mommyx2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got mine on 8/24 so I am in my 3rd week. My doc wanted me on basically clear for the 1st 2+ weeks. I saw him yesterday and he OK'ed fuller liquids so I can finally have some tomato Soup, etc. But then he doesn't see need for much transition time on mushies. Once I hit week 4 I'll have a day or two at most and I can start on real food. I will be taking it slow just for my own peace of mind. I think I'm doing well (no indigestion, no throwing up at all, nice weight loss) so I don't want to screw it up. -
A lot of Dr's like to unfill before surgery as often anaesthesia causes nausea and possibly vomiting which could cause the band to slip. I had an abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and was lucky as my Dr's did not require me to have an unfill. My band Dr didn't think it was necessary unless my anaesthetist required it and he was happy so long as I don't suffer with reflux which I don't. The only problem i had was that I was put on a light diet after surgery which consisted of Soup, sandwiches and jelly and icecream, It didn't matter how many times I tried explaining that sandwiches were not a light option for a person with a band it just didn't get through. I was abit tired of the soup and jelly after a couple of days and was desperate for some proper food. Good luck with your surgery, hope it all goes well.

Greetings world! Long time lurker, first time poster - go me. I figured it was time to get in on in and do the support thing early to prepare, so here I am! I got the call about an hour ago that I officially, really, truly, no-foolin, have a real surgery date. I'm going in on June 13th with Dr. Hart (Atlanta Bariatric Center / Emory Hospital Johns Creek). I was originally going to go band back in January but backed out of it to give it more thought (a lot more thought) and landed on the idea the sleeve would be better for me. And now, here we go. Whew ... yikes ... what have I got myself into?! I'm scared, nervous, excited, thrilled, and a little nauseous at what I've got myself into and I know I have to get my big girl undies on and face it head on but wow, now that I have a date I'm a bit scared of having a real date. With real people. With real people who really are going to cut into me. Yeah, I'm tripped a bit, but very excited. I think what I'm most scared of (other than the whole notion of being put under), is that I can't for the life of me visualize success. Is that weird? I don't know. I can't picture myself thinner - I can't picture myself doing athletic type activities - I can't picture myself literally as a smaller person, but I know it's going to happen. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Friday (joy, just in time to miss Memorial Day bbq.) Does it count as a liquid if I drink a bottle of bbq sauce?

How are y'all doing August sleevers!?
whit110 replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have also lost 25 lbs, and now I am in a stall - my first one at 6 weeks. From what I've read on here, they can take anywhere from 3 weeks to a couple of months. Like you, I'm still struggling to hit my water (and protein) goals. I'm going to focus on that, as well as increasing exercise, and hope I can break the stall that way. Also, I just noticed you said you are working out 4-5 times a day. That seems like a lot, so if you are not hitting (or exceeding) your water goals, that may be part of the problem. I'd focus on that. I hope it helps! Aren't we supposed to be walking 30 mins a day? At least that is what my Dr. Told me.... that's why i go to the gym so much! I work next to it and we get a membership for free, so I go right after work. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -

Elementary School Teachers

Hi! I was sleeved April 7th of this year. I took off six weeks as per my dr. I told the kids a few days before my last day. I told them I would be out for surgery. They were so relieved when I returned. They and their parents didn't know the details of my surgery. The parents wished me well and I had no complaints. Good luck. -
I seem to plateau for 2 weeks at a time and then seem to lose 5 pounds in three days. When people talk about average weight loss it's important to remember that it's an average over time not necessarily a steady loss from day to day.

Unable to feel nauseous after sleeve?
snowfie9 replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last week, I ate something too fast and didn't feel my "full" signal and what you experienced happened to me. It wasn't nausea, but I had to expell whatever wasn't going into my stomach (and surprisingly that's all that came up, just that little bit). Should I have felt nauseaus? I don't know. I've thrown up without nausea before surgery so it's hard to say that the sensation has been completely removed. But I have no problem interpreting what I am feeling as "something's coming up soon, get ready". I havne't felt nausea since surgery but I can't say that I felt it much before surgery either.
