Orbera balloon scheduled for 5/12
Sailor Doom replied to michelleg46's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
@@Wayward Traveler yeah, I'm not keen to stop my daily 40mg of Esomeprazole, the doctor said to stay on it for the six months and (I think) aside from treating any possible symptoms it can also act as a preventative for ulcer formation (which we would be susceptible to with the balloon constantly irritating our stomachs - or at least that is my understanding). While I haven't had reflux as I know it - the burny, vom in throat kind - I do wonder if my (very) mild discomfort these past two evenings is perhaps a small manifestation. Last night and tonight I attempted to 'up' my Protein by following my tasty but not terribly nutritionally valuable pumpkin Soup (150ml) with a strained chobani yogurt (150ml). I ate each over the course of 30 min with 30 minutes between, but tonight I still have this fullness behind my sternum and a feeling in my throat like I've got a big pill stuck there. Not terrible, certainly not enough to effect sleep or something... I wouldn't call it reflux because it doesn't burn, but maybe it is? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Question about purée food...
Ele marie replied to Express09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine goes from 3 weeks to 6 weeks I scramble eggs with cottage cheese to make it soft and it's either that or you have to have soft boiled eggs I can have refried Beans Soups with low carbohydrates and no more than 10 grams of sugar I can have pureed cauliflower carrots stuff like that. I also could have thin deli meat. But it has to be real deli meat not the processed stuff. I can have applesauce with no sugar. And skinless fruit. No grapes. He doesn't want us to mashed potatoes or hot Cereal because there's a lot of carbs after 6 weeks we can add that what you have to to fill yourself up on Protein first. I can also have soy. I bought some soy chorizo and used it as a meat in a homade chili I made for the whole family they loved it. And of course Greek yogurt under 10 grams of sugar. Same with yogurt. And a half of a banana and only string cheese. Hope I helped my doctor gave me a menu. But remember every doctor is different. Good luck on your journey ♡ Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App -

Tuna Time! Share Your Protein Recipes Here!
Basicwitch replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm a big tuna fan, and get around the mayo issue by subbing in either greek yogurt (Fage 0%) or a bit of avocado. With the Nutribullet, it is easy to whip up a quick dressing to mix into the tuna. My husband doesn't really diet much, and he loves these like crazy. I'm bad with recipes, but here's a couple ideas...feel free to play with amounts to fit your preferences! For kimchi tuna salad: Quarter avocado 1 tsp gojuchang juice of half a lime One or two scallions depending on size or preference 1 tsp sherry vinegar 1 hunk fresh ginger Teeny splash (TEENY TINY) toasted sesame oil Blend those ingredients and mix into 2 cans tuna and 1 cup chopped kimchi (cabbage is best for this) and diced celery. Top with sesame seeds! Zaatar tuna salad: 1/2 cup greek yogurt (Fage 0%) 1 tsp EVOO Juice of 1 lemon (and zest if you're feeling zesty) 1 clove garlic 1 or 2 sprigs of dill 2 tbsp parsley 1 tbsp zaatar seasoning (more or less depending on how you like it) optional: a little zchug, a kind of hot pepper paste! Combine ingredients and blend. Toss with 2-3 cans tuna, 1 cup diced cucumber and 1/2 cup shredded carrot. You can top with a little bit of feta cheese! -
2 weeks post op and zero restriction with liquids yogurt and protein shakes

Remember - just because you can doesn't mean you should. Yogurt is one of those foods that slide through your sleeve and likely won't make you feel full. -

ChrisLINY posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm Chris I was sleeved on 5/11 surgery went great I have no hunger at all. First week post op I lost no weight second week I'm down 18 lbs. SW 457, everything seems to be going great. just worried that I have no restriction my NUT told me I will feel restriction once I start eating solid food. But I know several people who can only eat half of a yogurt and they are full. I can eat a 6 oz yogurt no problem. I feel my sleeve may be to big or maybe I'm paranoid. -
How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?

Regular yogurt yes but Greek yogurt no for me anyway. Its high in protein and thick. The ones I eat are within the sugar & carb guidelines set out by my NUT. -

I don't eat yogurt, but wouldn't it just be a slider? Its basically pudding, it is not going to trigger restriction. It seems like you could eat a tub of it if you wanted to. -
I use one called "Delicious" I put it in a blender with some frozen mixed berries, Greek yogurt, half a banana a dash of orange juice, and chilled Water. I only had surgery yesterday so the quantity will be vastly different. But it makes it tasty and very doable. I used it in the past before work outs and for my 2 weeks pre op liquid diet. I was told 2 weeks of liquid diet. About day 6, I had Greek yogurt watered down with almond milk (unsweetened). I followed that with shaved turkey and very thinly sliced deli ham. Those two things saved me mentally. I was becoming very depressed and mentally having a hard time. Once I put those two things in my face, that ended and I started to regain some energy. 2 years post-op and need help!
Babbs replied to bluesclues's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
21 months here maintaining between 139-144 pounds. Right now I'm at my high end so working on getting back down. I've managed to lose a couple, but it likes to hang on at this stage in the game! Here's what I've been doing: Breakfast: Protein shake or 1/4 cup of steel cut oats with splash of almond milk and a little honey. Mid morning snack: Greek Yogurt or a cheese stick Lunch: 1/2 cup of salad with a bunch of veggies thrown in with 4 oz of protein (chicken, seafood or beef) with a small amount of dressing (usually a TBS or 2) Afternoon snack: Some sort of fruit, hummus with carrots or a low carb cracker of some sort, maybe more protein leftover in the fridge. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for and if I'm feeling snacky. The right protein will keep me satisfied if I'm feeling particularly munchy that day. Dinner: Some sort of protein prepared yummy and healthy ( most of the time on my husbands Traeger grill) and vegetable. May have a dessert of fruit or a chocolate greek yogurt depending on how many calories I've had that day. I keep my calories between 1000-1400. Right now I'm cutting back a little obviously to around 1200 so I can get back to my low bounce range weight. I average between 80-100 grams of protein and about the same in carbs (but cutting back a little right now). I eat on a schedule and every few hours whether i'm hungry or not so I don't get hungry and keep my metabolism going. I also work out 3-5 days a week, but a 20 minute walk every day will also suffice for you if it's at all possible. Just an example of what works for me at almost 2 years out. Hope that helps! -

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Any idea for high protein breakfast? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein powder, Kashi Go Lean Cereal with dairy milk, protein smoothie, Quest bar, crustless quiche. If you like coffee, there are several kinds of coffee/mocha/latte flavored Protein drinks available. At least 3-4 days/week I make a 1 egg omelet with cheese and whatever leftovers in the fridge....spinach, ham, mushrooms, brats, peppers, turkey, etc. And breakfast doesn't even have to be "breakfast" I had a couple bites of smoked trout and a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese for breakfast this morning. -
I agree about different temps. I liked some hot that weren't so good cold. Also there's a good chicken soup one you can order. Finally, I mix mine with non-fat Greek yogurt (Fage) and add a squirt of that coffee flavoring - either coffee flavor itself or things like SF caramel, etc. Good luck - keep at it until you find something works.

How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?
reree6898 replied to Afrikanaaa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am almost 8 months out. I weigh or measure everything. I eat 3-4 ounces total max per meal between protein then veggies if there's room. Breakfast is typically less then that. I can eat a 4-5 ounce Greek yogurt most days for an afternoon snack but there are days when I'm done at about half. It seems to be pretty normal for sleeved people to have slight variances from day to day on amounts that can be eaten. -

You have lost 48 pounds in 2 months...That is fantastic!! Be proud of yourself !! I agree with @kindle. "Your issues are very easy to fix......You need to be getting 60-80g of Protein and minimum 64oz Water. Those are the two most important elements to losing weight. Nix the granola and sugary yogurt and fruit and replace all of them with high protein foods" I was sleeved 3/25/16. My start weight was 306 before preop diet. Now I am 258. I have about 30grams protein a day. Have difficulty with water. My usual day: breakfast- Greek fat free whipped yogurt with 2 spoons of granola. Lunch- any type of Soup. Dinner- can be anything. What ever I cook for family. But I do eat fruits. Any sample menus? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Well I'd say you're doing pretty well considering you are down 48 lbs in less than 2 months. Anyway - you need to get all of your protein and water in - or not only will your weight loss stall but you will not heal properly. Be sure to check the sugar content on the Greek Whipped Yogurt (I bet it has a fair amount of sugar) and the carbs on the granola. Does the soup have Pasta or rice? How many carbs? Depending on what you're having for dinner - this could be an issue as well. You need protein and if you are still hungry - eat produce. No pasta, bread, rice, etc. 30 grams of protein is definitely too low. -
