    Back to work tomorrow!! ACK!

It was ok. I have been very tired though by the time I get home. I have been trying to move a bit more because sitting in a chair can get really uncomfortable after a while! But hey an NSV I've been able to fit into a pair of pants I haven't worn in probably 1 year or more!! I've also been feeling a little sick by hte end of the day but that may be because i'm not burping and farting as much so I have it all inside by the end of the day! :tt2: Most people have made comments on my hair...probably because it is an easier thing to comment on (a bit blonder than previous colours and it was out and nicely straightened because normally I can't be bothered and put it in a ponytail ) I had two girls comment on how much weight I'd lost, one who knows and another who doesn't know which was nice :tt2:

    Making It Through Tough Times

It's hard as women to take care of ourselves...we're all so used to nuturing and putting others first. I got my mammo reminder a few weeks ago and threw it on my desk. Thanks for reminding me. Glad the food issues are going well for you...and Kathy's right, those NSV's will come when you least expect them, that's what makes them so great. -BG

    Non scale victories

this brought tears to my eyes...I am soooooooooo proud of you and I don't even know you.....Please do me a favor. Put the scale away and if you have to weigh yourself once a month until you are at goal. The scale is our enemy and can sabotage us into thinking we are failing the program. Happy days are coming in leaps and bounds for you. Don't let numbers ruin that for you....Congratulations on your NSV!!!!!!
  4. Work in Progress I been using my computer (posting, emails, etc.) from a chair for a month now. I guess I must say I am in a comfortable rocking chair thing with cushions. BUT its UPRIGHT and so am I.. lol (Oh for those who dont know.. I always had to post from the couch, then later I got this neat lounge chair chaise (spell?) due to pain as I have some back injuries) I bleached my hair three time in the last two months.. and to rinse it out, I leaned over the tub and rinsed it in the tub facet. I mean I HAD to cuz I forgot my fancy disabled people shower thingie at my old place. (damn it, that was expensive!) And it was basically easy. I mean it wasnt easy. But it was WAY WAY WAY easier. Compared to before, it was a SNAP. I have had to do this before (use the facet) and it has left me in tears. I have had crisis interventions over this in the past. (I have to do my hair like every couple months) I either couldnt reach the facet it well enough to rinse thouroughly and fried my hair, absolutely could not hold my possition and had to leave the area before I was done, cried alot, needed someone to come with a picher to help me, had to get in the tub and let the bleach run all over my body and ect ect... lol, seems like alot to go through to dye my hair, but thats life ya know.. you do what you gotta do and you dont think about it.. UNTIL NOW when its so different. I can lay on the couch for more than an hour. This couch from goodwill..It has two reclyning chairs on the ends. I couldnt lay on it. It was extremely uncomfortable. (the mechanics inside, undetectable to the normal sized..) I tried and tried to get a place on this couch because Um I NEED to lay down and I need to be in my living room. I tried until it was completely clear that in NO way could I use this couch. My family loved it.. Its a pretty cool couch for everone else. I only had the chaise lounge chair that I could tolerate for semi long periods and it wasnt sufficient. I could only sit on the couch about an hour in its upright possition with the reclyner out. (not quite upright.. lol) And EVERY time I regretted it (pain pain pain) I had no where to "be" in my own living room if I was "bedridden' that day, I actually had to be in my bed.. and I dont like being isolated like that. So... My stuff was in storage.. I just got a new place... and GUESS WHAT.. I went to lay on the couch.. and I could. AND I CAN.. I HAVE A PLACE TO BE IN MY OWN LIVING ROOM NOW! WOW My Watch is loose. My friend gave me the watch in christmas of 04, she got it fit for me and it fit perfectly. Now its always upside down, dangling and at least three links could be removed. I dangle it everytime I need a pick me up. I can weigh on a normal scale and the scale at the ymca becasue I am under 350 pounds now. Nuff said. I had my first Orgasm from a Man, that I didnt have to help one bit. I am 35 and having my first one, unassisted. I thought it would NEVER happen. I was OBESE by age 16 and not sexually educated before that....Three kids by 19 and never did enjoy sex. and it was dead ever since because I felt so crappy about myself.. I almost never even touched myself. I felt so discusted. NO looking even. This O happened with a good friend who has never done anything wrong to me, who I have been seeing casually for over three years and who I have become increasingly comfortable with. (26 yr old hottie too) Last year on my 34th bday, I was able to have 7 multiple O's with him, (I did it, but it only happened cuz he was there and he was OMG AMAZING) So.. Its a mixture of my becoming increasingly comfortable with him as well as with myself.. In fact, the whole sex thing was so much better that also made me ready and capible.. This was never due to HIs lack of skill, I know he has the skill, I have known that from our first time. But I was dead and his skills mean nothing if I am dead. I am still in shock.. I mean you go 35 years and your mom and sister and best friends ALL know you have never had an orgasm from a man.. and that last year was my first one with a man at all (assisted) (and I date plenty, and many have tried and tried well) AND now, its not my story anymore.. lol. (I havent even told them yet!) Sex..Details later..MAYBE, kinda new and feeling too personal.. BUT ITS HUGE. WORK IN PROGRESS

    NSV - I think! ARGH!

Last weekend my family threw a big birthday party for my father's 70th birthday. I took my new beau along to meet people and everyone got on well, it was a great party. I hadn't seen many of the people there for quite a while, so for most of the night I was getting wonderful compliments and support from everyone (my family is GREAT like that!!). They were all "oh you look wonderful!", "You look fabulous!", "Well done!!", "Good on you!!", etc. That was fine and dandy, no problems, as I have told the beau about the surgery and that I was a big ol fatty this time last year. He's been really supportive and says he can see the determination in my eyes and that he totally admires someone who shows that they are willing to do what it takes to change life for the better. So far so good, eh? It all got just a little bit too much though, when my parent's next door neighbour came up to me at the end of the night, gushing over with "OMG, I didn't recognise you! What a difference!! I was looking all around the party and wondering where you were but someone had to tell me it was you!! You look SO different!!" GAH! I was squirming with embarrassment, with the beau standing next to me listening to this all. I mean, compliments are nice and all, but did she HAVE to make it quite so obvious just how huge and revolting I was before? *cringes*
  7. So, I belong to a Meetup group for single people. I just changed my Meetup avatar to the same one I have for this site. I went to a pool party on Saturday night & this guy there starts asking when I changed the picture. He then spend the whole night referring to me as the "Hot Librarian". LOL. I think he must have called me that 20 times. He even made someone pull the picture up on their phone so he could show everyone. It was honestly the first time anyone has ever referred to me as 'Hot' in my entire life. Super flattering, even if he is 15 years older. It made my entire weekend. Krista

    What are your NSV's ???

I know many of us are frustrated from time to time with that bloody scale...down 5 lbs then up 3, then down 1 and up 4...WTF !!! But I've read that post from previous bandsters on how exciting and motivating NSV (non-scale victories) can be over the actual numbers and thought it would be nice to share our own NSV's to motivate each other !! Please come back again and again as you rack up those NSV's and start to look and feel fantabulous about yourself !! I'll go first...yes Im only 2.5 weeks post but the fact that I have ankles again instead a swollen and puffy mutation of what ankles should be is beyond exciting for me !!! I am no longer ashamed to show them off in capri pants !! YAY !! :blushing:
  10. So, I was sleeved exactly one week ago. I am back at work (desk job) and doing fine, other than fatigue. My big excitement, however, is that I have two pairs of shorts that I wore before surgery, and they are literally falling off now- going straight into the Goodwill pile. I'm so excited. I haven't weighed myself and don't plan on it until my post-op appointment. This recovery is not easy, but it feels good to see a difference!

    the first fill

Well, my train zipped right off the tracks for a bit there, but I'm back now. Life you know! Yesterday was my first fill. Today I'm just slightly aware of it. Truly it was a piece of cake. A discussion, a weigh in, withdrawal of the fluid inside already and a re-add of the original fluid plus a HUUGGGEEEE .5 cc's of fluid. I needed the fill. I was beyond ready and I felt like I could eat a side of beef. I needed the contact too to slap me back into eating as opposed to eating slider foods. Since I've been eating regular foods, I've discovered there are foods out there I cannot eat, and that's okay. Beef is hard. Fish and chicken are easier. Vegetables need to be cooked until they are well done. I can't eat raw veggies as of yet. Bread - no, crackers - yes. Tomorrow will be measurements day - the 5th of every month for me. Some clothes just finally fit properly, others are a bit loose, so I'm hoping for a NSV or two. I have gained two pounds and I refuse to adjust my ticker until it's moving south. I am still walking, but admittedly less - no worries though peeps, I'll kick my own ass thanks! I've experienced all of the following - stomach cramps from not paying attention, feeling suddenly bloated by drinking too much too fast. Serious pain like an elephant on the chest and most days when I feel great. I'm enjoying that my body is talking to me, I just have to be aware and listen. When you've never paid attention, it's strange at first trying to 'hear'. The ice and snow are melting - temperatures are slooowwwlly rising and robins have been gracing my backyard. Spring is here at last. Happy Friday all PS - when I win lotto, the handsome one and I are moving here!

    What are your NSV's ???

I am a Costco addict and I can't wait until I can fit into the clothes they have!!! That is one of my goals. It won't be for a while... but I will get there!!:sneaky: I did a try on of all my pants today and all the 22's are loose.. woohoo!!!!!:wink2: I put them all in a pile and I'm going to donate them to Goodwill or Salvation Army as soon as possible. Another NSV is that I already now have more room in my closet!! I can't wait until I am able to get rid of all the bigger sizes... I'm going to have SO much room! I have bins of clothes stacked in closets I can't wait to wear. One of my goals this weekend is to go through them all and organize them by size, it is exciting!!

    Home after Surgery 10/11

I just found your post-op posts, and I am really sorry you have had so much trouble! Believe you have turned the corner, and that it is just going to get easier and easier from here. Try writing down all the great reasons why you knew this was the right thing for you to do, and all the NSV you are going to have when you feel better. Focus on those things, and it might help you get through the temporary here and now. New Hampshire is pulling for you, and if I had just a bit more energy, I'd come over there and empty that yukky drain for you! I sure am looking forward to getting rid of mine. Hang in there!! weekly update

Okay, so I'm a day late. I just didn't have time yesterday morning for my usual routine. I even had to skip my workout at Curves. :cry I'll try to add an extra one this week. This has been my first whole week with a fill. I don't really feel much restriction. I do occasionally feel a little tightness if I eat too fast. A couple of deep breaths usually clears it right up and I can continue eating without any problems. I"m just going to try to take it one meal at a time and see if I get any more restriction. I'm not sure how long my doctor requires between fills. I'll have to call his office and ask. I've had some good NSVs this week, so overall I'm pretty happy with my band. Also as you can see from my ticker, I now have less than 100 pounds to lose!!:clap2: :clap2:

    My NSV's

One NSV you forgot - whoever ordered those tees could tell that you were not a size with a X anywhere around it!!! Woot!
  17. I started my journey at 320 pounds. I had fought a losing battle with weight for so long, I felt so completely beyond help, and I never thought I'd be a normal size again. After surgery, and the rush of weight loss that happens right away, I was suddenly in the 290s, and I've been in Twoderville ever since. I've worked my band as hard as I could, and worked myself in the process. One pound at a time, it's dropped lower and lower, and I started to think maybe I could get to a weight range where I felt more like the person I knew I wanted to be. As I got closer to being out of the 200s, my anticipation grew more and more. Summer got in the way, and family visits, disruption to my daily routine, eating less well, and not getting to the gym as much as I wanted to - it seemed like my life was trying to prevent me from getting past that important milestone. My weight loss has been stalled the last month or so, and I've really had to apply a lot of effort to get back on track. This past week I've really forced myself, and I've worked harder than ever. And today, I made it! I am now at 199 pounds as of this morning, which officially puts me in Onederland! And I want everyone to know this is a fantastic place to be! I'm absolutely beside myself (or I would be, if there was enough of me left to go around... ) For you newbies just starting your journey, or those who are questioning whether getting banded was a good choice for you, let me reassure you: This is all TOTALLY worth it! NSVs are great, but sometimes a SV is even better! Dave, happier than he's been in a very, very long time.

Hello all, I'm out of hiding...

It's Teressa! Hurray! So proud of you for getting your degree, excellent work missy! And I wouldn't call it "just maintaining" when you have such stress going on, that's a definate NSV! Woot! I think you are thinking of www.fitday.com but there is another newer site that many people really like, http://sparkpeople.com/ too. Congrats, and welcome back!
  19. Doreykn

    NSV!

That was one of my first NSV's that I noticed! Isn't that a GREAT feeling? Congrats!
  20. I'm a nurse who works in the OR and we wear hospital scrubs... with colour coded size tags on the back for all to see... ugh Pre-op I've worn size "dark green" or XL for years. I had my first day back at work this week and... I wore "light blue" tag pants. LARGE! I was so excited. I probably could have worn a large top as well, but there weren't any. lol Pre-op, I made a list of NSV to look forward to and this was one of the first things I wrote down. Can't wait to scratch more off the list!
  21. I had about 90-something pounds to lose. I'm about 6 weeks out and I've lost around 48 pounds. I completely agree with all the people who posted above, so I'll just add that everyone's body is different so everyone loses weight differently. It's true whether you're sleeved or not. Comparing your weight loss with others' progress is kind of a dangerous game in this respect. I lose muscle quickly, and I lose fat slower than muscle, so I'm sure a good portion of my weight loss is from muscle weight instead of fat. Also, I'll be headed back to the gym soon and I plan on toning up, so I'll probably gain muscle weight now. And muscle weighs more than fat. Although I step on the scale every morning, I'm trying not to fixate on it. Instead I'm focusing on being able to fit back into my "thin clothes", which I'm happy to say I've started doing. My wedding band is starting to fit better too. In sum: don't just think about how fast you lose weight. You can get excited by all your NSV (non-scale victories) just as much.
  22. Luckyaka

    BORED BUT ITS SO FUNNY

    You look awesome! Great NSV!
  23. I've been reading your threads and have to say I love your NSVs...I come on here hoping to hear more "balls in the toilet" tales...being a girl and reading period stories isn't as fun I asked my hubby if his balls ever fall in the toilet and he laughed at me wondering where I heard something like this...luckily he doesn't have that issue but I guess it happens to some guy friends lol
  24. So I have been post op 9weeks. I guess I was in shock or I don't know what I was. That i have never said i love my sleeve till today!! Lol But I weighed in today at 205lb. Highest weight ever was 291 ( 3years ago) started my pre op diet at 268. Prior to surgery I weighed in at 240lbs. But I am sooo close to onederland, I can almost taste it! I am a slow loser I average 2lbs a week. I have a trip to Hawaii on May 4th. I know I won't be bikini ready (far from!) but I so wanna be under 200. Ahhhh I hope I make it! Btw I had an NSV... I can wrap my bath towel around myself and no skin shows!! Lol
  25. This is actually quite comical. Since I am eating no junk food it is sticking around a lot longer. My husband and daughter were having cheetos last night and brought them back into the kitchen complaining that they were stale. Hahahahaha....never would have had stale cheetos before!! So there you have it my first NSV is having the ability to keep cheetos in my house long enough to have to throw them out!
