Had surgery on Tuesday, went back to work on Monday, but I'm a desk jockey and only work in my office 2 days a week. I was working from home on Friday the week of surgery. I really depends on what you do and how you heal.

Hi all  70 days to go, and after the last 7, they can't go fast enough. This past week it is confirmed that i have diabetes, hypertension and severe sleep apnoea. Not bad for someone that just thought they had a weight problem. I think tho, that i am very fortunate to have no had these diseases until the last while, and they they have been caught early on it seems. My lapband operation really can't come quickly enough from a health perspective for me. My G.P. and surgeon are not so concerned, assuring me these problems will almost certainly disappear once i have been banded and lost weight. All the medications i need are in place and i feel ok. I am not sure what i expected, but only the CPAP machine for the sleep apnoea bothers me. I am just trialling it, for this week and the nice feller will help me with my concerns after that. Speaking of which, it's late and i am back at work in the morning. So best, i go and get the gear on and try and get some rest. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for being there. Cya soon

Today was My 3 month bandaversary
DianaG replied to beedo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!!!Congrats on the fast weight loss. I am one of the slow losers....I had my surgery last July and am down only 60 lbs. That's a bit slower than my surgeon wants me to lose, but he tries to adjust the band to where I can lose no more than 3 lbs or less than 1 pound a week. He really likes it when I lose 2 lbs a week. So I am going to have to go back for another fill soon. I have 7cc's in my 10cc band now and hope that the next fill gets me closer to the "sweet spot". I am really impressed with your will power and the weight loss. Don't think I could stand a whole pound of baby carrots, even though I like them a lot!! -
Clear liquids - list
littleroo1 replied to Beach girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The flavored Isopure drinks in glass bottles count as clear liquids. 5 or 6 different flavors and you can find them at places like GNC. They have 40 grams of Protein per bottle - but I agree that you should only take half the bottle at a time. I believe the protein helped me recover as fast as I did and kept my energy up. I was told to get in 60 grams of protein a day (each surgeon is different) so for my clear liquid days, I was drinking 1 and 1/2 bottles of Isopure a day, spread over 3 "meals". -
1/3 bottle at Breakfast -Lunch - Dinner; then all the crystal light I wanted. Initially my doctor's goals was 60 gr of protein -- then at post op appt asked me to up to 100gr and now at 120gr. I just recently heard the "taking in more than 25 g. of protein at one time is dangerous for your kidneys" but I wonder if that is for those at ideal weight -- seems a person 300lbs or more would need more?? Something to research! Wishing you the very best!

Dr. Tells me clear liquids for two weeks. So please tell me what this means? I am sipping water, crystal light, and flavored water and clear chicked broth Can't imagine doing this for 10 more days. Am weak, and dizzy and shaky. They tell me to get up and move around but I am too weak. Banded Sept 11

Well I'm a huge believer in tae bo, even before I had my surgery I was working out to the dvds and lost 35 pounds. That was about 2 years pre-op though and before I had a kid lol. But now post-op I'm doing tae bo 5 days a week or more and he has strength training embedded in the workouts with cardio. It's worth a try. It works wonders for me. I got tired of just the treadmill I felt like I was getting stuck in a endless routine, and also felt like I was not working all the parts of my body, even with incline like you said. Try it out, you will see results, I'm dripping with sweat even though I've been doing it for a while now, every time I finish I still feel like it's a great challenge for my body. :coolgleamA:

Band 07 and Jennifer I had my RNY on Good Friday. I have been sick everyday for a whole month. During my first week check-up I had lose 14 pounds. The next week I was dizzy, exhausted, constipated, I was waiting for the new found energy. I was in the hospital for 5 days for dehydration. I was stuck in every spot in my arm looking for a vein for the IV and to get blood(one time I was stuck 8 times, because the IV came out ). I never realized it was so hard to drink Water.Eat and take pills wait 30 mins..drink water . Lets not even talk about attempting to get in all the Protein. I have also had my times when I cry and feel depressed. I guess I just needed to vent . Hopefully, we'll be feeling better soon and start to enjoy our journey.

Resuming medications in pill form
sbg224 replied to From FLABIO to FABIO's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was not allowed to swallow pills until I was 3 months out. I have no idea about crushing cymbalta, that is a question for the pharmacist -
I had the RNY on 04/13/15. My doctor set all the right expectations for someone who hasn't actually had the surgery. My expectations were off because my friend had her RNY in August 2014 and she was back to work in 4 days. I planned on giving myself 2 weeks. Now 3 weeks post-surgery and I'm still home. I have had severe fatigue, dizziness, nausea and trouble with hydration and Protein. I was told 64 oz of Fluid, but I've found to maximize my energy and avoid dehydration associated nausea and vomiting, I actually need 80oz per day. The first few soft things I tried did not stay down. I can't eat eggs at all. I've had no hunger at all (or cravings, yay!), so I had to pay attention to my body for other signs. My indigestion that isn't resolved with Water is my new hungry. I still haven't figured out what full feels like yet, so I eat very little. I figure it will come with time. I am starting to get some of my energy back, but I do get exhausted after just a couple hours of any activity - Church, grocery store, etc. - regardless of the intensity level. The point: Everyone is different, and no one's journey will be exactly the same. The wonderful dietitian at the clinic described the food progression as an experiment. It was a very apt description. I have had a couple of "Why did I do this?" teary-eyed moments, and I expect I'll have more. However, I wouldn't change it. Despite the fatigue, I'm already feeling better about myself. Good luck! Keep us posted, and I hope things go well for you moving forward.

How many calories are you getting in ?
Sullie06 replied to Tracyringo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7.5 months post op. I get between 900-1100 calories a day. Just saw my NUT last week, she wants me closer to the 1100 than the 900 and wanted me to up my carbs to about 100 grams a day so I've been working on that. -
Since I travel for my work at least 4 days a week I am looking for a small blender or smoothy maker that will fit in the checked bag. Any one have any suggestions?
-
Frankie, at 3 months post op you should be able to fly to Mexico and have a great time. Have fun!

And some days I sing along IS THAT ALL THERE IS? but bye and bye it either gets better or you resign yourself and try to make the best of it all. Do I wish I could go back? Well occasionally, but then I remember I requested THIS be done, there is truly no going back, I will be internally un- normal, if I could request Dr Needleman rejoibg the 2 segments of my stomach, would I want that? 2. It is technically more difficult, might take a whole morning to micro- surgery me back, would he be willing to invest that much,of his working day just because my bravery no longer is working? 3. How Do I know the complications wouldn't outweigh any benefits? 4. I trusted in the Magic Of Diets to save me, at 365+ pounds, Magic was failing ME! And 5th and probably most important, what assurance at 73 that I would even survive the surgery? Yeah, it most certainly would have to be "Open", he would need to see exactly WHAT he was doing, can't trust robots and OR monitors to do it all. I had a first cousin die 3 years ago in May on the OR table at the Cleveland Clinic. Turned out she had previously undiagnosed Esophageal Cancer but we still miss her so much, have had difficulty understanding as a family why we had to give up our June- Ellen to the monster Cancer is. Granted many of my kinfolk folk I wouldn't go out of my way to see, but doit have enough self- centered b***s to do this to them? So I keep on keeping on, they do say I am making strides toward final healing, I want it NOW, like average Americans my patience is not strong but I have to hope for a brighter, more sunny day at the end! And I am healthier, thinner, perhaps less ugly to look at. Is Joy, Happiness and satisfaction Over-rated? I'm 73, I have more thinking and psychological reasoning time than most people , some days it seems like all I still have.👈😪👉😧

Post op diets vary significantly, it is always best to follow your surgeon's or dietian's guidelines. I had two weeks liquid then went onto pureed for a couple of weeks followed by a four weeks mnced/soft graduating to soft/normal in that four weeks. My dietician had on her list for pureed foods: high protein (low sugar) yoghurts, custard (I did this once only as I found it too sweet and triggered my sweet tooth), scrambled egg, cottage and ricotta cheese, sandwich style tuna (spreadable), blended soups and the like such as casseroles...but they had to be highly blended. Was also advised to supplement with protein drinks if needed.

You can try the Couch to 5k. It is also available as a mobile app. Many people here have used it with success. I have used myself in the past and liked the program. You can repeat weeks if you find it too difficult.
-
so ive been hearing a lot that if you start off walking for say 5 minutes, and then you start to run for 1-3 minutes and then repeat until you reach your goal destination, itll be just as efficient as it would be if you just ran the whole distance. my doctor said as long as i keep my heart rate the same speed then it it beneficial. has anyone done this method??

Feeling nauseous in the idea of eating....
marlajones replied to marlajones's topic in Food and Nutrition
Thank you all for your time to read through my plight! I pretty much got the responses I expected, so a meet with my doctor is a must hopefully they can get me in for this week. The only problem with anti-depressants is that they start to take effect after 3-4 weeks of commencing the treatment, so it's a catch 22 I guess. Thank you again for your comments, I will try to keep you updated on my progress. -

My doctor requires the pre-op diet of Protein shakes/soups for 4 weeks prior to my surgery... The problem is my insurance will NOT cover the shakes, even if they were perscribes so therefore I have to pay $85 a week ( 4 weeks ) for the shakes... anybody else run into this problem???
