    Unjury

I got my UNJURY on Thursday. I have yet to mix it and try it. I have yogurt and fruit. This is where I will start. I got 10 unflavored and 4 chicken Soup to start. Surgeon said to just try them out and see what my stomach will tolerate prior to actually needing to do liquid diet. I know they promote Advantage? They have a discount code. And seemed the Vitamins on there looked doable with the flavor options and chewable.

Diets we used to be on, and why they didn't work

Wow - I've been on a lot : weight watchers - at one point I lost 30 pounds then had a baby, so that went out the window lol Nutrisystem - very expensive - you get a lot of food and it was alright but it tasted a little plasticy. I was so mad I only lost 10 pounds and I was diligent! Chinese diet pills - these were pills in a prepackaged amount - so you take about 5 pills like 2 or 3 x a day. I think you get full from swallowing so many pills lol! Hypnotism - yep I did that too - I kind of thought it was funny - so I think that's why it didn't work Acupuncture - I had a needle in my ear and you get it moved around about every week or so - it was suppose to make you not hungry - yea no! Lol Richard Simmons sweating to the oldies- lol - did that tape for a long time - my kids would do it with me! Hcg pills - didn't work; Trim Spa Baby lol - still pills! The shaker crappy stuff that you put on food - didn't work - that stuff is made from silica! Isn't silica the little packages that comes in shoes that says "do not eat"? It gave me migraines! Cabbage Soup diet - really?lol I think that's it for now - if I think of something else I'll post it! Now that's funny & completely and utterly true!
  3. Atkins worked for me for about 25 years. I was able to keep my weight within 15 lbs of my current goal weight most of the time but I also ran, played tennis 7 days a week and racquetball in the winter. I think I was able to keep fat away simply because I burned off about 800 calories a day. Once my knees crapped out, the heavy exercising ceased and the lbs started to add up. So, I'm an Atkins success story for much of my life. I also tried all the others previously mentioned. Never worked long or even short term for me. I'd lose 10-15 lbs and then the hunger would consume my thinking. The devil in most diets is constant hunger. It's depressing and consumed almost all of my daily thoughts.

    Full liquid diet

I have the benefit of having two pre-op diets to reflect upon. The first time around I toughed it out on sheer determination. I thought that I was doing well, but about halfway through I started dreaming of mashed potatoes and spaghetti! The 2nd time was more than 10 years later and really, for the most part, I was back to square one. The difference was that my new surgeon didn't have me on liquids only. I had a protein shake for breakfast and lunch with a "sensible" meal in the evening. Enduring this was MUCH easier, but I had a bad case of carb withdrawal after about 3 days. I had the worst headache that was constant for about 3 or 4 days and NOTHING helped it. I had brain fog, fatigue, irritability. I'll take the dreaming of mashed potatoes and spaghetti any day after that! Hang in there! It's a temporary situation and this will pass. For me, I just kept my eye on the prize. That was inspiration enough to help me stay on track and push forward.
  5. that's really odd. Those who give you a goal (and not all do) often give you one that's right around the average weight loss (which is about 70% of excess weight - which, statistically anyway, is about where you'd expect to end up). There are definitely people who make it to a normal BMI, but my surgeon said only about 10-15% of his patients do, and the statistics I've read appear to back that up. Your surgeon giving you that number as a goal seems unrealistic. Possible, of course, but not terribly realistic.

    10 day liquid diet

  7. I've been working with a bariatric clinic since mid 2020 and completed my 6 month supervised diet with them, however, I've decided to move to a more robust and supportive program somewhere else. I have my first visit with the new place on 1/28 and am hopeful that everything will transfer over and they will simply need to resubmit the authorization to my insurance. (I had already received my authorization letter for the initial clinic) The person I spoke with at the new program made the comment that it would "help a lot if I could lose some weight and weigh less than my last appointment with the old program". This is not a requirement of my insurance, so, I'm thinking this is more a requirement they have set. Anyone have any pointers on how to lose several pounds over the next 10 days? I have an immensely hard time losing weight. I have been able to maintain the weight I had at my last appointment, but, my scale has not consistently gone down. I'm lucky to lose and keep off a pound a month and my scale has crazy fluctuations from day to day. I already do the following: - carbs at or under 100g a day - 128-152ozs of water a day - only eat 3 meals a day with no snacking Appreciate any advice or guidance.

  10. After my surgery I could do mostly just walking. No lifting anything over 10 pounds and no stomach crunches. I could do any type of walking. But in reality, I didn't want to do to much after surgery because it took too much energy. I had to let my body tell me what to do.
  11. 33 weeks after my surgery! I am so excited--I didn't know how much I was looking forward to this until I realized I was close last week. I still have 10 lbs to goal and then I'd like to lose another ten for a regain cushion. I should be within a few lbs by Halloween. I low-carb and it is working for me. I am 56, hypothyroid, and 5'8". I love my sleeve!

  13. I'm trying to not let it get to me. I had my RNY on 10/12. By the end of my 2nd week, I'd lost 14 lbs post op, 5 lbs pre op....a total of 19 lbs. On my 3rd week, I lost 1 lb... A total of 20 lbs. I've had no weight loss in 2 weeks. My fiance and I weigh in on Mondays. If this upcoming Monday I have no weight loss again, it'll be 3 weeks with no weight loss. This is so frustrating. The stall happened to early. My surgeon's office does not require a Protein minimum - maximum, just yet. I only need to ensure that I'm in taking at least 64 oz or more of fluids daily. I'm all eyes and ears for suggestions. I felt like the first couple of weeks the lbs were melting away. Now.... I'm JUST STUCK! How do you break your stall?

    Russian Roulette

I had my sleeve revised to RNY 11/10/22 due to GERD. I stayed on fluids/purées/soft foods advancing very slowly. I didn’t start solid foods until end of December (about 6 weeks). Since then I feel like I’m playing Russian Roulette every time I eat. Sometimes I eat and feel fine without pain or restriction. Other times I will eat the same exact thing, same amount and be doubled over in pain until 4-8 hours later when I finally throw up and the food comes up not even partially digested. Every time I freak that I have an obstruction. Nutritionists say it’s too much fiber or too much fat, but it’s not necessarily associated with diarrhea and why, then, can I tolerate it sometimes and others not? Surgeon is sending me in for an upper GI barium study next week. I’m so stressed that I have stretched my pouch somehow but I can sometimes eat far more volume without issue compared to some of these episodes. Has anyone else experienced this? TMI, I’m also noticing pale colored stools but the pain is on the left, not on the right with my gallbladder. He said my gallbladder looked fine during surgery. I just need this to work so I feel better and can get on with my life.

    Wine Country Woman Weighs In

I'm in much the same place - lost 110 lbs on WW, maintained it for 18 months, and then gained almost all of it back. My right knee is bone on bone and walking is very hard. My lapband is scheduled for 10/29 and the exercise worries me, too. Starting little with short slower walks will help build up the muscles and as the weight comes off, I know I can do more. Do you have access to a pool? Water aerobics or even just pool walking will help without pain. I've lost 35 lbs in the last 5 months on WW and I do feel better going into WLS. I have more discipline, have already eliminated a lot of "bad" food, and know that my knee already feels better having gotten rid of that much - more will be better and easier! Good luck. Let's stay in touch.
  16. Hello! My name is Connie. I was banded on 12/12/07 in Dallas, TX by Dr. Benavides w/ Lap Band Solutions. I am from (and live) in MAINE- but made the choice to travel to Dr. B for my surgery because of his stellar reputation etc. My pre-diet (and highest ever!) weight was 296 lbs. At 4 months post op I was at 244 lbs. It's SO amazing to me!! I had my last fill on 01/29/08 and my next one is scheduled for 05/06/08. I stretched it out a little longer the I should have, as I'm feeling as though I would benefit from a fill N-O-W, now! I have an AP-S band. If someone could tell me how to 1)post pictures and 2) get those cute ticker things...that would be really cool! Connie:teeth_smile:

    1 week post op -19lbs

That's a lot of weight to lose in your first 10 days! Sounds like things are off to a really good start. Nah, you don't really want that cheesesteak, you just think you do. It's also good that you're working to establish a routine. That will be helpful later on.

    Post-Op Exercise

I started walking immediately, could do some serious biking (road bike, 20-30 miles) by about day 10. I was told no pilates or ab work for 4 weeks, and no lifing anything over 10lbs for 3 weeks. I had my first pilates class today (4 week mark) and it was fine.
  22. In 10 days I will have my surgery and my new chance begins.

  24. Banded 5/9. Today is 5/10. My stitches are starting to itch. Yesterday, I removed my wrist band. I forgot to remove it when I got to the car. I didn't think I was allergic to anything, but my whole hand above where the band was is all red and itchy. I've been using cortisone but still red. Belly is still hurting. Yea! For drugs.
