  1. Dunno if this counts as NSV, but these days I have been thinking of waxing my chest, stomach and back. Wonder if this will make saggy skin more prominent or show some more muscle

What is your most recent NSV?......Go!

Agree with the 2 posters above! So awesome to see a collarbone, and appreciating being "checked out". I am enjoying being the size I am now. Here's my naughty NSV--making that b*@#*y woman down the hall at work "pea green with envy"!

    4 Months Post Op

Has anyone had Plastic Surgery on their Arms?

Heather NSV means Non-Scale-Victory. Youmay not have lost a pound(by the scale) but maybe you went down a dress size. Stuff like that .

Lady Nsv- May Be Tmi Lol

    Sorta NSV or Not

    Definitely an NSV ! ! !
  7. Well during thanksgiving i had my mom come to San Antonio (she is from Canada) for 1 week. I went to pick her up at the airport. I haven't seen my mom for 3 years. She knew I had the sleeve done, but didn't believe me that it would work. . .sooooooooooo when she got to the airport, she walked right past me. . . I grabbed the coffee i had for her and went galloping after her. . .MOM I yell, well she turns around and after hugs she says "Is this really you?" Really? Please don't lose anymore weight and what happened to your hair? You used to have such thick beautiful hair". . . .well I just brushed the comments away and told her I was so happy to see her. . . that was that . . . the visit went well though and I didn't have thoughts of sending her back via FEDEX this time!

    NSV: new clothes!

Hey, that is an amazing result for you and an inspiration for a relative newbie! Although, my scales isn't moving rapidly (slow but steady wins the race is my new mantra; along with little acorns turn into big oak trees!!) I too had a recent NSV! Many years ago I bought a pair of sizee 20 (UK) jeans from the petite section - well I am only 5' 2" - and since that day I have never worn them out... in fact they did not do up at the button, and I kept them with the old saying 'one day they'll fit'! That day has arrived...YEY!! I can not only do them up, but they are comfortable and I can defo wear them in public... I am sooooo chuffed with myself it is unreal. I also had to recyle two pairs of jeans that were way to big and my 'snug' jeans are now loose... Doesn't it feel great!! I also know what you mean about the self confidence thing... I have a small group of friends that I share all my success with, weight, clothes, food, moods etc... but I recently went to work (not been there since my op due to it being out summer hols) and I purposely work the biggest hoodie I had to cover up... strange isn't it? Perhaps it is because I haven't told them about my sleeve, or that I don't want my weight to be the focus of my work... Dunno... gonna have to suss that one out myself!! Lets hope that this milestone continue 'til goal!

Did I make the right decision?

WHen you're right out of making the most enormous change of your life and it doesn't go like you thought it would, it's scary and nerve wracking. Holy Hell, have some patience isn't the most supportive response I've ever seen. Here's what I know: The sleeve works, first of all. You may not lose fast and you may not lose like you want to lose, but the sleeve works. Patience is absolutely key. Tell us about where you started-- Highest weight, start weight, current weight. How about inches? I lost TONS of inches but very little scale weight. I STILL lose slowly on the scale but the inches are where it's at. Are your clothes loose/baggy? Seeing any changes in your body that don't translate to scale numbers? Remember your NSV's - non scale victories- What doesn't hurt that used to hurt? what can you do that you couldn't? What's your post op plan been like? I know this is VERY hard but everyone else is EVERYONE ELSE. Not YOU. So don't worry about them....you have to focus on YOUR plan and YOUR body. You can't go back, so keep moving forward. Have a talk with your nutritionist about your food needs... at a month out I was jUST starting to eat solids, and I had lost maybe 12 lbs.
  12. I usually weigh in once in the morning, but sometimes I will weigh right before bed and try to calculate how much I'll weigh in the morning (which never works). I'm obsessed with the scale as well -- I'm gonna try to limit my exposure to it () by doing it only once a week -- that way I can revel in the NSVs and not have my mood be hampered by a number that I KNOW will go down eventually!

    Nsv...yay!

Congrats to you! that is a great NSV.
  14. I would say that my favorite NSV so far is that I went from a size 20W to a 14 in 5.5 weeks! A whole 40 pounds gone. Oh, also that I can shop in my closet now for clothes I haven't worn in AGES because I was too big to fit into any of them. It's exciting!

    NSV - tmi

I just saw a Poise commercial and I realized that it's been 2 weeks since my surgery and since Spring has come to the Pacific North West my allergies are in full swing AND I am no longer wetting myself when I sneeze. Hehehe, sorry if it's TMI for some.
  16. Today I had my first NSV ???????? I have a pair of pajamas with boxer style shorts that have stiff scalloped edging on the legs. They were always tight and I put them on this morning and the legs were loose!!!! I am discovering the bulk is coming off my legs, upper thighs and butt area first. I actually had butt sag in a pair of my jeans the other day too, LOL!! Thank you all for the support over Christmas. I got through just fine like you all said I would. I am concentrating on getting my protein, water and walking in everyday and putting my focus on that. ????
  17. I was very fortunate in that I was not hungry at all for 2-3 months post op. I ate because I knew I should. When my hunger returned it wasn't as intense as before, and by then I had established my new eating habits which helped a LOT. Now I eat every 4 hours (8a, 12n, 4p and 8p), and I keep my carb intake as low as humanly possible. Both factors contribute to my never being hungry for very long at a time. What keeps me on track when I could never stick to a diet before: The feeling of satisfaction / fullness after each meal, plus the decreased hunger, is the main thing that makes it possible for me to stick to the plan. I do get head hunger sometimes, and when I can't ignore it I have a big glass of Water, a SF popsicle or some SF Crystal Light. I've lost a significant amount of weight doing this, so I KNOW it works. I will be da**ed if I'm going to throw away the $12,500 I paid out of my pocket to have this done, not to mention all the work I've done (and the goodies I've resisted eating) to get to this point. Sometimes I just repeat to myself, as many times as necessary "I'm not going to eat that. Not gonna do it. There will be goodies available when I'm at my goal." The support available on this site and on the Facebook group I belong to is PHENOMINAL. It helps SO much, especially at those times when family/friends would probably beat me to death if I mention one more thing about the trials and tribulations -- or the NSVs -- related to being sleeved. You may also want to review the rules, to get your head back in the game. I just posted my version of them in the Taking a Trip thread. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

    Strangest NSV Ever!

I thought you were going to say it was your port as well :0) I am happy it was nothing serious. What a stranngggee nsv!!!
  19. Today I wore pants that I haven't worn in YEARS (yes, I save everything). I tried them on a few weeks ago and they were a little tight...so I put them back in the closet thinking ok, I'll try them in a couple weeks. Well today I put them on and they were big...almost sloppy...I was amazed!! I wore them to work but they probably won't be worn again. Squeal!!

    NVS I never expected

Thanks. It is the little things I had no idea how much the weight was holding me back physically I can even cross my legs again. Had a funny NSV the other day. A friend's dog jumped on me the other day, Shadow has jumped on me before but I use to weigh more then him now I weigh less and the silly boy almost knocked me over.
  22. I know exactly what you are saying. I have weighed more then my husband every since we have been together the last 11 years. The top being me at 240 and him at 170 and being the exact same height. I am slowly inching down there, but that would the biggest NSV for me, would be to finally weigh less then he does.
  23. I am now 3 weeks & 2 days post and I am pretty sure I have hit the INFAMOUS three week stall (or plateau). I hate that inner me that needs to know that the scale is moving. My follow-up with surgeon is Tuesday and I would really like to be below 240 by then...2 lousy pounds. I have, for some unknown reason, had it in my head since the appt was scheduled that I wanted to be in the 230's and I haven't made it and its driving me nuts. I have already had a couple of small NSVs and its awesome but the scale thing is something I have fought since my twenties. Anyone else out there a scale junkie? How are you coping? I moved it out of sight and am not getting on it but every third day. "Taylor" (scale manufacturer) and I will meet up on Sunday morning (sans clothes, of course) and hope I have made some progress.
