  2. I'm day 5 post op and haven't really been thinking about Protein. I did go to store tonight and got GENEPRO. Anyone use this? Wondering how much liquid to add it to. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Protein frustration

I drink the Premier Protein chocolate shakes over ice and it tastes like a yoohoo to me. People also in my support group use Genepro and put it in various foods and drinks, and they say it's tasteless and odorless!

What's your best protein shake recipe?

If you are wanting to up your Protein I recommend GENEPRO it is nonflavored and is 30Grams of protein. I add it to my coffee when I do Expresso. You can add it to anything. I buy it online. I use AMAZON PRIME so I don't have to pay S/H. The trick I have found is to take a little warm Water add your scoop and whisk it before you add it. I even take my chocolate Almond Milk and add a scoop of it, the same way tempering it before adding it to my cold chocolate Almond milk. Just a little tid bit of info. I don't know which surgery you had but I have been told by my Surgeon that anything over 30grams of protein is a waste because our bodies can only handle 30grams at a time so all over that is just lost. I love ATKINS Protein drinks they have 15grams, MYOPLEX is another good one. If you want recipes you can check out some of the online sites like: Pintrest, The world according to eggface has many different recipes too. Good Luck

    Can't get my protein in..

Try GENEPRO. It works great for me. You can add it to anything. It has no taste at all. I add my to my broth. I start Puree foods in a few days and I will add it to all my food as well. I dissolve the tablespoon in about a Tablespoon of Water and then add it to any foods.. It's amazing.

    Clear liquids

I went with GENEPRO too. What a blessing. You can't taste it at all. I add it to my broth.
  7. Thanks all.. I had a pack of Maxtor, tried it this morning and got it down so easy.. ordered some today and also ordered the medical grade Protein GENEPRO.. feels good knowing that I won't be worried about my protein.. Sent from my QTAQZ3 using the BariatricPal App

    Clear liquids

Atkins protein lift, I've seen those in the supermarket and Walmart. Isopure I found those at GNC and the Vitamin shoppe. I went with GENEPRO, it has 30g of protein in a tablespoon and is flavorless and odorless, I mix it with my Water with a little crystal light and that gives me two in one liquids and proteins, I got this at gnc. I could not stomach sweetness in the Atkins lift water post op, it was a bit much for me right now . I'm day 4 post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm not sure any of the Protein drinks have science behind them.......and even if they do we all know any "independant study" can be manipulated to look like whatever "they" are trying to prove. What I do know is a tablespoon of unflavored Protein powder is something I can swallow. That's better than no protein since I (and many others) can't seem to get any of the protein drinks/powders/bars down. I just received my GENEPRO and will begin today. If I feel better and my blood work is good I'll continue to use it. If not, I won't. If you're able to ingest the other protein products then congratulations.......I certainly wish I could. We all have to do what works for us as individuals.
  10. Thank for this cause I had my surgery Tuesday and I'm hating these protein drinks I got about 15 grams of protein yesterday I will try this Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App I swear by Genepro Unflavored. I put it in my hot tea 3 times a day. 90 grams protien quick and easy. It's not clumpy ( keep temp under 140) no taste no smell. It makes it look milky but I love it. I couldn't drink any powdered or prepared shakes. It caused terrible cramps, diaherra vomiting. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I too swear by it. But I do think it has a horrible smell. Which is why I mix it with just a shot of milk. I have a very strong sense of smell.....My husband didnt smell or taste anything when in had him try it. I suppose everyone is different. What I really love is that it's a tablespoon instead of a large scoop. But really, I would never have gotten to my protein requirements If not for this stuff. I had literally tried everything! So I do not complain every couple weeks when I go spend the $35 on a canister of it. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. I bought medical grade gene pro unflavored Protein. One table spoon if it is 30g or protein. I use 2 tablespoons in a coffee mug, add a splash of milk, hold my nose and chug it down in 2-3 swallows. That's 60g of protein first thing in the morning. Then I don't have to stress. Then before bed, I take 1 tablespoon with a swig of milk. So I'm getting well over 100g a day (including diet). I too was struggling hard getting my protein because I couldn't stand the smell, let alone the taste. With that being said, the unflavored still has a smell which is why I hold my nose. You can order GENEPRO on amazon or get it at GNC. It really was a lifesaver for me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Starbucks

I get either a Passion fruit tea unsweetened and add Splenda, which is a caffeine free drink. Or I get a decaf skinny vanilla latte with almond milk and add my GENEPRO Protein powder to it for Breakfast. Sent from my STV100-1 using the BariatricPal App

    Protein making me sick

GENEPRO unflavored mixes very well in beverages. I use it in hot tea. Just make sure the temperature is under 140 or it gets nasty clumpy Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Protein powder

It seems like everyone keeps raving about genepro protein. I personally like the Premier protein chocolate shakes cause they are already made.
  16. My problem is flavored protien shakes. I am using GENEPRO unflavored in hot tea ( temp has to be under 140 or the powder curdles into a rubbery chunk) and I have no problems. You can also try protien waters like protien2O or Atkins Lift Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I also can't process artificial sweeteners and things like stevia Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  17. I didn't have to give up coffee pre-op, and my lovely PCA pump with morphine took care of any withdrawal headache I might have had post-op. I gave it up for about a month afterward, to give my stomach some healing time. Now, I drink 1-2 cups in the morning, with a GENEPRO, Fairlife milk and half and half concoction and some monkfruit sweetener.

    Augh a non answer

Okay after my irritation settled. I reread the Email and there were a few suggestions. It just wasn't what I was asking. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I also have unflavored GENEPRO so far so good Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  21. I have GENEPRO and so far I can tolerate it. We shall see how the rest of my digestive tract takes to it. I'm so relieved at the moment. oh here is a great photo that shows my progress Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

I just ordered the GENEPRO GEN2 Protein Powder..............supposedly it's tasteless, odorless and you only need 1 tbls to equal 30 grams of protein. Several members on this forum use it and say it works really well in yogurt, soups, oatmeal. I can't tolerate the shakes either........they literally make me gag. Gonna try this GenePro GEN2 and see if it solves my problem......I'll let you know. I'm a huge Amazon Prime user but according to reviews I won't order GenePro from them. Many complaints that it isn't the same as the GenePro you order from the manufacturer or from GNC. Worth a couple of extra dollars if I can meet my protein requirements.
  23. I use it, haven't noticed a smell and definitely hasn't changed the taste of any of my food. I was only getting 30 grams of Protein a day until i started using the GENEPRO. Now I meet my 90gram goal with no problem. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

@@Babs shakes leading up to last night's vomiting and diaherra caused stomach cramps and intestinal discomfort. I've tried Quest, GNC vanilla, unflavored premier protien. I just ordered GENEPRO. I've tried several others from sample packs both pre and post op. Pre op I was able to drink premier ready made gnc powders and quest powders. Now I am at a loss. I'm trying to find sample packages so I don't blow $ 20-50 on crappie I can't drink. I'm hoping the genepro will be something I can put in my drinks/food and tolerate. At this point taste is secondary or tertiary. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Metabolism after VSG

@@Kiba - one thing to consider as you experiment with your diet - you mentioned that GENEPRO is your main Protein source. I've done some digging on GenePro and I'm concerned that they may be overstating the amount of protein in their product. If this is true, you may actually be far under your protein goals. It might be worth mixing it up with different protein sources to see if this helps your loss.
