Well today has been full of some (not so great) adventures. First, I couldn't get out of bed this morning (just super sleepy) so I ended up sleeping until 11am. Drank about 1.5 ounces of Water before getting in the shower. The combination of no water in 10 hours + hot shower left me dizzy, nauseated, and shaky. That was TERRIBLE. But I did drink a 16 oz bottle of water in less than an hour afterwards, so my tummy is definitely healing. Then, I went on some errands with my mom. I brought water with me because of what happened this morning, but nothing else. Realized at 2pm that I'd had no Protein and no calories, so we stopped at a convenience store to see if they had Muscle Milk or something similar. They had Monster Milk, but I didn't want to try it because of the caffeine, so I grabbed a low fat chocolate milk instead. Drank about a third of it and my tummy did NOT like it. It looks like I may be somewhat lactose intolerant after all (I forgot that the milk I drank yesterday was Fairlife, thus lactose-free). In other news, (sorry for the TMI) - I pooped!

So the herb lax I took helped significantly (if it's not TMI I had about 4-5 stools since taking it) It was gentle on my body which was what I was hoping for since it's a combo of all natural herbs. BUT My stomach is still super sore and queasy.. like it's hard to eat or drink because it makes me sickish and sore and I still dont' feel completely emptied :\ is this normal? I expected to feel back to normal after taking it but I've been feeling pretty yucky all day. -
I'm 5 weeks post op and I don't have a BM too often. However, I found when I do, I get SO sick. Chills, stomach cramps, nausea... But it goes away when I'm done. Anyone else experience this? Also in the same vein, can we take a Fiber supplement since I'm not cleared for eating veggies yet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Soo......I thought I had my timing close enough to perfect but now fear with surgery on June 21s that I will be starting/in midst of my period. I usually have cramps and just wondering if anyone else had this happen. Was it terrible or does it just make the need for heating pad and drugs seem even more reasonable?

I am three weeks post op and have felt awesome this whole time except for last night and today. I have had diarrhea and nausea like no other. I'm running to the bathroom like every 15-20 minutes and water is making me nauseous. Also some abdominal cramping. Has anyone had anything similar? What ended up happening?

So I'm almost 29 and this is the list of things that made me want to do this. Now I know some of this is gonna be tmi or whatever but if it helps just one person to not feel alone or helps push them to finally go through it it's well worth it. So I can't do anything I love Horse back riding Running Volleyball Softball Bike riding Roller skating Sitting at a booth in a restaurant Wearing cute clothes that don't look like an old couch fabric or that I didn't have to order Not being able to be the mommy I should be to my son Volunteer fire fighting Now here are the things that aren't so pleasant to admit to or hear I can barely put on my own socks 9 times out of 10 I can't tie my own shoes I cry all the way home from work every night I pull a shift at the hospital cause my feet are in agony No Dr will help us have a second baby I have to wear sanitary pads because my bladder leaks without notice if I suddenly have to pee No matter how often I shower and wash I still feel like I have a smell I can't shave my legs as well anymore I also can't shave my lady parts alone anymore (thank god for a loving spouse! !) I hate that my boobs sag I used to be healthy I was a size 12 leaving hs and then it all went to hell I'm really just fed up with it all. Especially going into my closet and trying on everything I own but I'm too fat and they are all too tight Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App -

Day 4 post op update- I am feeling pretty good. I have only had nausea the day after surgery, and only for a little while. The pain is minimal, although my right incision (where they took my stomach out) is pretty sore. I've been wearing a binder on my belly since surgery and I feel that has helped quite a bit. My doc only wants me focusing on clear fluids this week, so that makes it easy to meet my fluids goal (64 ounces). I gained 6 pounds after surgery, but have lost all of that plus another 5! And the best part is, I'm not even hungry! Definitely recommend taking small sips of Water, etc. bigger sips get stuck and are painful. TMI Alert- I was able to have a BM 2 days post op, thank goodness. Gas x strips definitely help with gas. Well, there is my update. I will update in a few days. -
I'm 8 days out and had a stool 6 days ago so I been taking stool softener and today it worked. I'm still constipated so it was hard going to the bathroom when I was finished it seems like I was wiping infinty. can we develope some kind a leakage with are stools. Sorry I know this tmi but I want to no if this is normal and it's just because my body is ajusting or because the stool softeners. Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App

Why i cant tolerate food anymore?
CelesteMarie replied to mia150's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just last night I experienced something like this. I didn't over eat but I gagged and vomited. I was really trying not to but I kept having to and only bile came up. Tmi, I know but I was really surprised coz I've been fine for a month, since the surgery. Then I tried to put something else in my system and voila, did it again. It was horrible so I was afraid to eat today. Thank goodness for muscle milk and Isopure to get my Protein. I just know I need to put more calories in coz I don't want to wreck my metabolism. Grrrrrrrr. Good things come to good people. -
@@j16 Me too!!!!! I told my husband yesterday that this would be much easier if my stomach wasn't always growling. I feel like I am over the mental hunger and am not having issues with choosing what to eat it is just that my stomach is always growling. Post Op at least that should be helped a bit. A little TMI but my liquid diet is making a lot of bathroom issues. Guess it is a sneak peak into the future "don't trust a fart" phase!

feeling guilty about not sharing entire truth about weight loss
Clementine Sky replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's a difference between lying by omission and simply keeping personal matters private. It's your prerogative to share what you wish, and with whom. Everyone keeps something or another to themselves, or at least they should. If you'd struggled with constipation you probably wouldn't feel compelled to tell everyone you encountered about the changes you made to improve your bowel movements, because that's TMI. If you want to tell everyone who inquires about your weight loss, or to share about it on your social media, that's your perfect right. That's not a morally superior choice to keeping it private, though. Both choices are perfectly valid and perfectly ethical. The only ones who actually need to know you had surgery are those who are either personally and directly impacted by it or giving you medical care, such as a spouse if he's helped to finance it and is your support person, or your doctors. That's it. I had the VSG last August, and to this date the only ones besides my physicians who know about it are my parents who accompanied me for the surgery and my husband. Not my brother, not my best friend since I was 11, not my colleagues, students, or neighbors. My parents and husband have provided me with all the emotional support I need. I'm not an ambassador for weight loss surgery and feel no obligation to share about it with others. WLS isn't a new-fangled procedure few know about, and we're therefore compelled to provide education for. Those who are interested in having it can find information on their own. I didn't decide to have WLS because of someone else telling me about it. My reproductive endocrinologist recommended it to help me with fertility because other patients my age (early 30s) and size (14 at the time, with a BMI much lower than normal for the VSG) have benefitted from it. If I told people about my surgery, I'd then have to explain my reasons for it, which would entail explaining PCOS and my struggles with conceiving. That's raw and private. We all have our personal reasons for wanting this surgery, and we are perfectly entitled to be as public or private about them as we desire. When people have asked me about how I've lost weight I've told them the truth - I logged my food to become more aware of what I'm eating and make responsible changes, and I bought a bike and started using it to commute to and from work to add in enjoyable exercise to my day. I also tell them I consulted with my endocrinologist and followed her medical advice. -
The things no one tells you about post op life...
SilentBotts replied to lexiemustang's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tummy issues 2 - Before surgery, I used to be able to "hold" my poo (sorry if TMI) if I was in an inconvenient place (like work or the mall) until I got home. Not anymore. When I gotta go, I gotta go! And I cramp when I have to go. I actually have the exact opposite problem. I barely get any urge to go, if I don't make a conscious effort to go at least once a day I get very backed up. -
The things no one tells you about post op life...
lexiemustang posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm a year out from my surgery, and last night I was thinking about the things no one told me I would experience post op. Here's my list: Sensitive tummy! I used to have a cast Iron stomach preop. I could eat ANYTHING and not get sick. I'm talking about food left out for a day or two, weird combinations of food, anything. NOW - my stomach is very sensitive and temperamental. I can eat something one day and be fine, and eat it the next day and it will send me straight to the bathroom. Tummy issues 2 - Before surgery, I used to be able to "hold" my poo (sorry if TMI) if I was in an inconvenient place (like work or the mall) until I got home. Not anymore. When I gotta go, I gotta go! And I cramp when I have to go. Drinking Water is a CHORE. I didn't realize how much of a chore drinking water would be - especially with the "no eating and drinking at the same time" rule. Presurgery I could drink 64 oz of water a day easily. Now, not so much. Deep down I thought being "skinny" would fix a majority of my issues. NOPE! My butt hurts constantly from sitting on things! I guess since some of the padding is gone, LOL. My refrigerator is a constant churn of leftovers. I am having trouble making peace with throwing away leftovers but I have to constantly. I don't get nervous about having physicals at the doctor anymore. If I eat the wrong thing late at night (there's one Protein bar in particular) it gives me indigestion really bad. What are some of the things that no one told you that you're experiencing post op? -

What should you buy questions...squatty potty
goplay94123 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May be tmi for some it will be about constipation. I see a lot of posts about what would you recommend purchasing or must haves for post surgery. I said things like Chapstick and food scales, etc. But I have to say the one thing that has helped me a bunch is purchasing the Squatty Potty. It seems that people fall into 2 camps after surgery which are those with loose bowels and those with constipation. I definitely fell into the latter. I am almost 3 months out and have gone through some really, really tough days of constipation. And I am sure people will be searching the word constipation so I will also add what else helped me. I am still rather constipated but try and keep my Water up and take dulcolax at night. And I am also patient with myself when I have that "urge" to go. I kept putting off buying the SP (25.00 on Amazon) thinking it couldn't help that much and would be bulky to store etc. not sure why I worried about that as I live alone hahaha. I finally broke down and purchased it about 2 weeks ago after a literal break down in the bathroom. I find that the new positioning helps me relax and not strain as much (which was a major issue and I was causing damage to myself). I find as well that the evacuation is faster (Not the speed but the time spent in the bathroom) It didn't solve the underlying cause of the constipation, but it is Surely helping me while I have the constipation (and even the few times I felt normal movement) I wish I had started using it a lot sooner. So I would recommend if u have 25 bucks to a spare to get one if u are in the same boat (or even a small step stool or kiddie seat) may do the trick. You can google some videos or articles that go over the height and feet position and some interesting facts on the evolution of the human toilet. Hahaha At the risk of pseudo embarrassment I thought I would share my experience! @@Alex Brecher u should carry them on the website! And, as with most of the posts on this board, I am just expressing what has helped for me everyone's journey is different and one thing I appreciate is when members post their tricks and tips. Some have worked for me, others have not. But I am glad I am on this journey to even try. Have a great and productive day! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Relationships or meeting someone new post op
Wolfgirl78 replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the sleeve 4 years ago. I only started dating about a year ago and in a relationship. My scars don't show. I pointed them out to my bf one night because he asked about them and I had trouble finding them. I guess to tell or not to tell varies person to person. For me, I saw this relationship I was in as a long term thing so I told. I was more worried about having to explain why I can still eat so little than scars. TMI warning, I was never concerned about my excess skin until we had naughty time in front of a mirror recently. Omg I need a boob lift and tummy tuck Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Ok, this is totally TMI but I need help. I had surgery on 3/19, and up to 10 days ago I was doing fine. I lost over 50 lbs and I feel great most of the time. I can eat almost everything by now (of course, no sugar, no fat, no carbonated drinks and no alcohol) but the past few days I've been really constipated. I never had problems like this before, on the contrary, if you know what I mean. I eat plenty of fruit (i admit I've been a little lazy with vegetables, eating only once a day), and every time I have to go is a struggle. I go days without having to go. Can anyone help? Coffee after Sleeve...
areader4life replied to NikkiRT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About a week, maybe two, post op, I started back to my one cup a day. I rarely finish the whole cup (once it's temp drops too much), but this is what helps keep me regular....(sorry, tmi). It's the only caffeine I consume and I don't count those ounces into my "water" total. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
extreme fatigue and sore body after walking and eating?
meridian.jpg posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Today I walked up to Walmart, which is a good half a mile away from my apartment, and I had subway for dinner. I took about 30 minutes to eat and I waited 15 minutes to drink my tea. No problems, I felt fine that is until my mother came to pick me up around 9:45pm. As soon as I got in the house, I felt like I was going to faint and my whole body felt sore. So I sat down for awhile and stayed awake but around 12:45, I got cravings so I had half a Protein bar and 15 minutes later I had half a Protein shake. Right after finishing my half of the shake, I got that fainting feeling again and I felt extremely tired, more tired than I've ever been. I also feel weak, lightheaded, I have some chest pain and my arms are so sore. Back in Feb to the end of April, I was having a lot of extreme fatigue to the point just walking to the bathroom was making me weak and tired, I slept nearly all day and all night but, now in May, up until now, I was feeling a lot better. I also used to get the extreme fatigue after eating back then but the ER doctor and my doctor never addressed it. I know when I went to the ER back in April for (tmi) constant bloody and loose stools, I was told I have a "small and slow" lower gi bleed that could be causing the weakness and fatigue but they didn't admit me. I have not had any bloody stools since the end of April and I am still waiting to see a gi doctor and waiting to see my new surgeon again (had the surgery in Nebraska in September, left at the end of November to move to Flordia) because he's booked soild. :/ Anyone experience any of this, the fatigue, weakness etc? -

Oh yes tea! My doctor told me it was okay to take peppermint tea. The smooth move one that helps digestion. I need to send someone to go and buy it for me.. i cannot tolerate the car right now. Lucky for me, i only live 10 minutes away from the hospital. I admire anyone riding more than 10 minutes. Sorry TMI... I think the hospital meds were keeping me from passing gas. I managed to pass 3 small ones, but it made SUCH a difference. I'm glad I forced myself up for a walk at 5 am. I've been walking around for 30 minutes trying to get more out. And I've taken in 2 ounces of Protein i plan on taking in all my protein before anything else. My doc said I can have fat free lactate milk so if I finish this cup, that will be 64 grams of protein. Yey. -
Does anyone's goal weight still leave them "overweight" or "obese"?
jane13 replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@provenzee - My normal BMI would have me at 163, I am 175. At 53, I am not looking forward to anymore skin dragging behind me, or flopping (TMI) in front of me. I am working towards the 160s, at 5'7+ I just saw my doctor at my 1 year and he didn't question my current weight just said "Wow!" - I will take that as a "atta girl".
