  1. i am scheduled for surgery end of December and inam zoo mad at myself because during the past 3 months I have put on 15 pounds and am at my heaviest. It's like I was trying to eat everything before I "couldn't". Well I start my 2 week pre op on Dec 14th and am hoping to drop some of this weight I put on.... Anyone else been in the same scenario?
  2. I had my band removed last year due to slippage. I was only 10lbs from target when it was removed. I started gaining weight pretty quickly... a stone in the first 6 weeks or so and then got pregnant. I've now had my wee boy and he is 3 months old. I have put on 4 and a half stone from when I had band removed and am really struggling. I have tried hard not too regain but it seems to just keep climbing. I don't feel I am overeating and am going to exercise classes during the week. I keep track of my calories and should be losing. It just is not happening. Could this be due to seriously restricted calories for so long? I had a slipped band for a year or so and I was being sick after every meal before getting it removed. It's like my body can't handle food anymore. .. Any suggestions or help at all? Any similar problems? I can't take working this hard with no results. I'm really struggling. Thanks in advance!

  4. "Eat less, move more" is the simple way to stay slim, but some scientists now suspect body weight is much more complex. One area of research is "obesogens" which are chemicals absorbed from the environment and food that are thought to disrupt the way hormones operate, potentially leading to weight gain. Research by Harvard University found that women (men less so) struggled to maintain weight loss after higher levels of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) were found in their blood. https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/press-releases/pfass-chemicals-environment-body-weight/ http://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1002502 https://coach.nine.com.au/2018/07/26/11/10/obesogenics-chemicals-weight-gain
  5. So I'm at the doctor...They say I've gained 8 pounds during week 3 and 4! I count my calories and average about 700 / day. I'm not terribly worried but would like any input on how anyone thinks this is possible lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  6. I am about 9 years post-op, I did very well up until my 40th birthday. then things went for the worst! slowly but surely gained 20 pounds each year! Not to mention having really really bad reflux. I cannot eat anything spicy, drink late at night even brush my teeth without having reflux. I went to my bariatric doctor and I feel like he just gets angry and scolds me for not logging food. He said I have some leaking but it is my weight gain that causes my reflux and tells me I cannot have a revision because he is sure it my food choices that have caused my weight gain and reflux. I make some bad choices but nothing nearly what I was before my procedure. I almost never drink soda, I don't eat corn, rice, or pasta like at all it makes me sick and pukes it up asap! my sugar intake is low although my weakness gets me most times. I know I could do better with water intake as well. I seem to feel hungry all the time. I know I can eat so much more than I did before. I could eat a whole hot dog in a sitting where before I could only eat half. I feel i am back where I was before a procedure where it seems even a slice a bread causes me 2 pounds! I really feel I need a revision or go RNY but I am so scared to even ask my doctor as I am scared of him judging me and denying me making it seem I am neglegent of my choices all because I don't log my food on a daily! any recommendations?
  7. Has anyone gained weight during 6 mo medical weight management? My consult weight was 331 and I'm up to 347. They told me I need to get back to my 331 weight by my pre-op appointment. I have my last medical management appt on June 1st trying to lose 13 pounds by then as I'm down to 343. Has anyone got denied due to weight gain?

  10. Anyone gain weight while doing pre-op test? I feel that once I mentally committed to getting the sleeve and started this process and knowing I wouldnt be able to eat like I do now, I got out of control for a lil bit. I gained 10lbs in 3 months. I felt ashamed when I met with my surgeon for the 2nd time and gained 10lbs. I gotta get mentally ready for this lifestyle change.
  11. Hello Everyone: I am 4 1/2 years out from gastric bypass and am experiencing weight gain. It didn’t just start and I know it’s because of how I am eating. I have gained about 25 pounds from my lowest weight since surgery and need to get back on track. Head hunger is the problem. I am back on this site for support and advice. Any words of wisdom to combat the head hunger? Fortunately I still dump if I eat too much sugar but unfortunately I have no problem eating carbs.
  12. Only 7 days post op and was dropping the pounds nicely. About 15lbs at day 6. So it surprised me a lot that today GAINED .80 LBS ! How can that happen on liquid diet? I figured about 540 calories daily from protein shakes and broth comes in very cheap @ no more than 10 calories per serving in using bouillon!
  13. Hi, Stayed 4 nights in the hospital (minor complications with my bladder). I got home and saw I gained 2 pounds since starting my pre-op diet last week! I had the RNY. I know there are some people the surgery doesn’t work, and I’m freaking out a tad! If it matters I started at at 305 and am now close to 308! I’m following the diet to the letter! I had a hernia repair too, as well as the removal of my nissen. Thanks!
  14. I had my rny in 2011 and went from all time high of 412 lbs to 245. I had kept it off until last year, when I started to put it back on. I have gained back about 35lbs. I am having trouble getting back on track and getting my weight off. I gave a few other medical conditions that could be playing a part but honestly, it is mostly me. Can anyone offer some advice to help me get back on track and get some weight off
  15. My surgery date is November 12 and i just went to my Pre- Ansesthesia Testing yesterday. I notice when i got weighed that i gained 5 pounds, my surgeon told me that she doesn't want me to gain anymore weight, now I'm stressed out I've been working out and cutting back calories as i was told to do. but instead of loosing I've gained, I don't know if me being on my period for the past month has anything to do with the weight gain either. I just hope this wont postponed my surgery I've worked so hard these past few weeks
  16. Last week I weighed in at 227lbs. Yesterday at the hospital they said I was 224.9lbs. I went home after my endoscopy yesterday and weighed myself it said 233lbs. I weight myself today and my scale says 236.8lbs. I’m just short of four months post gastric bypass has anyone else had this issue? I don’t really eat food to where it’ll make me gain weight. Throughout today I ate one whole pickle one egg and four oz of chicken. I don’t understand why I’m gaining weight.
  17. I have just finished my last nutrition class and am now waiting to be scheduled with the surgeon before insurance approval. Last evening I read a disheartening story on Obesityhelphelp.com about a guy who had lost over 100 pounds after his sleeve and has gained it all back and can eat a full hamburger fries meal etc. I knew there was the possibility of some weight gain especially if you let things get out of hand, but all of it? My question is it because of the size of the bougie. This is not my first concern about this. My Dr uses a 39 which I think is a larger size by today's standards. Most people are getting a 32 or 34 these days. I would like to hear from folks who either have the larger bougie or the weight gainers and their ideas as to why? I'm afraid to go through the risk of this process, suffer with another slooooow weight loss(I'm the world's slowest loser) only to gain it all back. :-(
  18. I believe I have ruined m y opportunity I had my sleeve procedure on Nov 2017 ans since then I have lost 100 pounds but in last few months I have gained like 30 pounds I trying hard no to gain more now I can eat more I am hungry all the time I can eat like the normal person I am so depressed and whenever I try to keep track and get on the wagon one more time I fail i think I have get back to point zero or before the surgery . I was obese since I was child I failed all types of diet I have tried and now it is the same I can't do any diet for more than two days I can't believe how fast the stomach got stretched and gaining weight . I have failed my surgery which make me so depressed.
  19. I am so dissapointed with myself. It has been a rough year for me and I have returned to seek comfort food. As a result, I have gained 10lbs back.
  20. Going out on a limb here and am scared at the same time. I was diagnosed in '07 as being bipolar, mild, not severe and given a cocktail of meds, along with this disease I suffer from severe insomnia so mostly my symptoms are that along with mild depression. I take Klonopin, Saphris and Zonisamide. All has been going great and no I don't have manic episodes everything was going great up until about a month ago I noticed my moods have changed. As some of you know I live with my mom since my divorce and well I have a tendancy to lash out at her, she knows I don't mean it and she understands completely and I'm even lashing out at my dog. I called my psych the other day and called in Depakote and the pharmacist said, do you know the side effects of this drug of course I said no, she proceeded to tell me that it caused hair loss which after lap band I am experiencing now, severe weight gain and I'm thinking great. Why in the world would my psych of 7 yrs put me on a drug that makes me gain weight? I guess I am jumping out here in hopes that someone with this disease will respond and tell me what they take and if they have any adverse effects from the meds they take. It's obvious I need a mood stabilizer but from all my research they all seem to have side effect of weight gain. I have been on my cocktail of drugs for quite some time and don't know if they have stopped working or what. Someone please have some answers. thanks...Donna
  21. I woke up this morning and I'm heavier than I was last month at weigh in like .5lb...I'm so mad at myself and on the verge of crying cause I think I just screwed myself!! Did anyone gain during the 6month weightloss period and if so did you end up getting approved or denied?
  22. Hello! It’s been a long time since I’ve been on these boards! I was sleeved in 2011 and am now scheduled for revision to MGB in June. my question is directed to those of you who chose revision due to weight gain, not because of GERD, not that I don’t appreciate the view points of you all who revised due to GERD but because I really want to hear form folks whose primary reason for revision was to address weight regain. i am almost back up to my highest weight pre sleeve and I see such mixed results. What has your experience if you had revision to actually lose weight? Was it worth the expense? Did you get the results you were hoping for?
  23. Hi all, I’m new here and only 1 day post op. I was excited to get home and step on the scale but I’m up 7 pounds! I also have my menses. Anyone else experience this?
  24. Has anyone else taken this for depression and noticed weight gain. I added it about a month ago and have gained a couple pounds. It’s supposed to be weight neutral according to my dr?? In all fairness I have been eating more but it’s almost as if the medication is making me more hungry.
