I am almost 10 months out and I could snack/eat all day. I notice at night I could eat more. I tend to pick slider foods. I fluctuate between 132-134. If I ever go over, I'll do a protein day. I will never risk gaining back the weight. I would have to try really hard to gain weight...eat frequently and make poor choices consistently. I will always be a food addict and I still crave the same foods, but I can only eat them in small portions. Congratulations on your weight loss. You rock.

Congrats on the weight loss, I do find that I snack more when I'm not preoccupied with other things. If I am on the go most of the day I forget to eat but if I'm just sitting and watching TV I find that I will snack more. For me it just depends on the day. Congrats on the weight loss, I do find that I snack more when I'm not preoccupied with other things. 5. Has anyone ever gave in to food post op? Im only a week out and Im suppose to be only on liquid. I had a few tiny bites of things, chewed them up really well. Did I ruin everything you think? How can I fall off this wagon already!? Its only been a week! I think my problem is, i havent seen any weight loss prior to the nibbling. So, I got discouraged. Dang it! I feel like ive failed myself, my sleeve, my body. Urgh! * Misty *
  6. Today I weighed in at 151 pounds. This is 62ish pounds from where I started 4 months ago. As I was filling my bath I noticed it takes a LOT longer. So, in the peace and quiet of my bath I tried to visualize what 62 looks like. Wow! 9 average size newborn babies The weight of 8 gallons of milk This is 12 pounds, so this times 5! Or...12 of these! WOW!
  7. I'd like to say thank's to all my many friend's at LBT & evry one word's of encourgement!

    4 days Post Op

I had my surgery April 14, and although when I went to my follow up I had lost 16 pounds and my friends and family said I look like I lost a lot of weight I still don't see it. In fact I feel like I gained weight even when I look at myself on the mirror I think I gained weight. My surgeon said that is because I'm losing weight faster than my mind can process it. I'm hoping somewhere down the line I start seeing the changes in my body.

  10. I am working on my three month process...Calorie Counting and going to all my pre-op appointments. I am catching myself falling deeper into depression over my weight. I am constantly thinking about my weight, the surgery, the whole process and finding myself getting pretty emotional (at the most inconvienent of times). I am nervous, scared, and so forth. I keep thinking of my food addiction, can I really beat it? What if I fail? What if I don't like what I look like after I reach my goal weight? I see a lot of before and after photos and a lot of people look completely different. What if I loose all my friends? I am living in the land of what ifs and it is driving me crazy and since I am dieting I do not have my binge eating to cope with all the crazy. Am I loosing my mind??

    Living In Groton

Any idea why? I found that when I went from liquid to solids my weight loss slowed drastically.
  12. Angie!!

    Im scared to death!

I had this same problem. It is important to try to her a good positive attitude. This of it this way, the risks are no higher than having your appendix out and if you had a bad appendix, you have no choice, you would have to have it removed. Are the risks of your weight higher than the risks of surgery , probably. But you have to do what is right. I just had my surgery on 9/4. You can do this.
  13. You will be fine! By losing the weight you have shrunk your liver which is why the Dr put you on the pre-op diet. Stick with the liquids for the next 3 days, follow your post op diet and you should be great! Keep us posted on your progress!
  14. I had a similar situation last year with my insurance - I had to have bunion surgery on both feet last December - and I had them done 3 weeks apart. I then got my lap band in September. The only thing that may be tough for you, is you may have a harder time getting around. Activity will help with weight loss, and foot surgery will probably limit that for a while!! Good luck to you, and if I can offer any help - let me know! ps - The foot surgery was not bad - I found the pain I had was due to swelling. The Dr. gave me Vicodan for pain, and it did nothing for me. I had a prescription anti-inflammatory that I took instead of the Vicodan, and that resolved the pain issues completely. I know I should not have self prescribed - but I had them left over from a shoulder injury, and I figured it could not hurt. I told the dr, and he understood, and was glad I did that. If you're just out of lap band surgery - I'd check with both your lap band surgeon and your foot dr, as I do know that the anit-infammatories can cause problems with the stomach and the band.
  15. Need help its been 13mth and I have gained 20lbs Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App
  16. I have a fitbit and I love it. I have worn one daily since 2011. Since I have had my fitbit for so long, I never had the chance to use the other fitness trackers because most of them appeared later. I wear the fitbit ultra on my bra daily. I like how small it is. I like how it easily syncs to myfitnesspal and i like the information that you can see on your fitbit and the free app that shows and stores all your data. I can see steps and calories burned and my sleep and since it syncs to myfitnesspal it shows the calories I have eaten vs burned for the day. I know that some trackers require you to pay a fee to see your information on the computer. I have weights and activity stored on the fitbit website since 2011. I just think it is easy. They do have ones you can wear on your wrist. I wore the first one they had years ago but I preferred the one I wear on my bra. Now they have several different ones available that also track your heart rate. I haven't tried those.

    My Journey

That is great ....my fear is I won't lose any weight...I get mine at the end of Aug....thank you for sharing your journey...
  18. Do not compare your progress to others. We're all on a unique journey. No one else has your combination of hormones/history/age/metabolism/stress/etc. Also, be prepared for stalls. They happen and it sucks. Take your measurements before surgery and regularly thereafter so that when weight loss stalls, you can still see the progress you're making. (Yes, you can lose inches even when the scale doesn't move!) Find some buddies who have surgery around the same time as you. It is great having people to talk with who are at the same stage in the process that you are.
  19. I'm sorry for the poorly thought out comments you are getting. I can honestly say I have heard very little from friends and coworkers (I told everyone I was having the surgery). Of course, they all know how much hard work I have put in at the gym, because I tell them about that as well. The only poor comments I hear really are said about one of my officers that had the lapband about 2 1/2 yrs before me. He has lost nowhere near the amount of weight I have. I refuse to bad mouth him and his journey, we are all different. The only thing I ever say is that he does not appear to put in any time in the gym. Also, I hear about his poor eating habits. People seem to think it is a competition btwn us. I do not. I only deal with myself and how I am doing. Sidenote: I will confess when he got his lapband, I was one that said he was taking the easy way out. I had never heard of the lapband and knew nothing about it. I made an assumption. That may be why I choose to educate everyone I know.

    Hard time justifying surgery....

In all honesty, if you can do this without surgery, do it. Hands down it is better for you to succeed from sheer self dicipline. The unfortunate reality for most of us is that out willpower over food was pretty close to non existant. And the brutal reality is that being obese will kill you, along with destroying your life. YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING. Do you need the sleeve? I don't know. Only you can answer that. But if you've tried for years to lose weight unsuccessfully, then it damn sure beats the alternative (being fat & dying).

Welcome Chuck You will do fine and feel so much better. Do you have to do a pre-op diet and when do you start? My pre-op was 6 months of high Protein low carb, cutting out all the bad habits in my life and exercising. One day before surgery I was to have liquids only but I did it for 2 days. I was sleeved on Jan 26th 2016 2 days after I turned 60. weighing 315 pounds. I started at 497 pounds and had been trying to lose for many years on my own. I did lose quite a bit but over the years. However this last year my weight slowed down something terrible and my health got worse so I looked into getting the sleeve. In addition tot he sleeve I had a hernia repair and my gallbladder removed. I had no problems with drinking and following my eating phases. I went back to work in 1 month . I am so glad I did the surgeries and since surgery 5 months ago I have lost 65 pounds which is twice the amount of weight I lost in all of last year. I am doing things now that were impossible before. I still can't walk for more than 5 minutes but I am like 2 pounds away from where the Dr's want me to be so I can looking into have surgery on my back so I can walk again. Good luck with everything. I am sure you will do fine. See you on the boards.

    Bacon....

Hi all, I am 6 weeks post op and I am having a really hard time with breakfast. Per my surgeons guidelines, he recommends avoiding bacon, sausage (even chicken), ham etc. but my issue is that I hate eggs! So I am tired of having protein shakes and yogurt for breakfast. I also don’t want to eat chicken or seafood every morning. I’ve had some bacon and I’m wondering if I am “cheating” and messing myself up. I hit a stall at 3 weeks, had my menstrual, and went up! It finally broke last week and I lost what I gained but it just doesn’t feel like I’ve made any progress in weeks! I’ve lost 22 pounds since surgery on 2/24 and with my 2 months coming up I feel like I should have lost at least 30 since my starting weight was over 300 pounds! Here are my questions: 1. For those who’ve had a VSG what was your average weekly and/or monthly weight loss after the first month? 2. Do you eat bacon, sausage, or ham for breakfast? 3. Have you cheated and still lost? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give because I am going crazy!
  24. No fill, but not because of the blood thinner. He said I lost three pounds while sitting on my backside, doing nothing, not watching what I eat, etc. So now that I am released by the ortho to go back to work part-time, I am to get my act together, start walking again, and the lapband doc will see me in 6 weeks. If I don't lose, then he will give me a fill and just keep me at the office a little longer to make sure everything is okay. So, back on with my weight loss journey. He was right when he said I needed to get my head back on this weight loss journey. When the accident happened all my attention, concern, co-pays, etc. went to getting the use of my arm back. While I still have a way to go in that regard, I do have some use of the arm back and I just feel better in general. Off the pain meds, feeling more productive, just things looking a lot better than they have been. So, back to watching protein grams, veggies, a little fruit and whole grain and walking. The hardest part is drinking the water. Still getting in only about 1/2 what I should but will work on that. And a little extra incentive. The company I work for just hired a temp and she had gastric bypass 4 1/2 months ago and has lost 95 pounds! But she does not look healthy and I am not saying that to be negative about the bypass surgery. She is losing hair, she sleeps in her car over her lunch hour because she is so tired and her color is pale/ashen and comments about how everything she eats makes her nausceous. She is a wonderful lady and really is doing a great job temping. I asked what she normally eats in a day and she is lucky to get in 600 calories. So I am thankful for the band and just being able to eat what I am allowed to eat. I will lose slower, but for me this just confirms I made the right decision for myself.

    Plan To Stick Around

Happens on Youtube too. They lose their weight and then disappear. A FEW people stick around to try and pay back the support they got when they were new. There are a couple of channels (Back to basics, ProofWLS works) but for the most part, a lot of people that I was following in 2009/10/11 have stopped updating.
