  1. Addicted here! : ) I weigh every morning but not again the rest of the day. Seems most people go up alittle as the day goes on. Some days it is down a little in the morning, then it might pop back up for a day or two, then down again. So long as it stays 2 steps forward and 1 step back, I am fine with it. Weighing once a week or even longer might be better, but I would be pretty bummed if the one day I weighed was one of those up days instead of a down day! LOL My scale has hardly moved recently but I bought a smaller size of jeans today. If you haven't taken your measurements, I would suggest doing that. I was shocked to find out that I had lost 40 inches the last time I checked! Keep a list of NSV (non scale victories). Those will keep up your spirits when the scale disappoints! Good luck!

    Did I just PB?

okay... here is my stupid question... what is PB and what is SLIMING and what is NSV? I just cannot sort it all out. Sorry you had this episode. I am not looking forward to it at all!
  3. My grandkids got dropped off early this morning. I still had my nightshirt on and was fixing them breakfast, when my 6 yr old granddaughter said, "Nana, your legs are getting skinny". I thought wow, if a 6 yr old would notice that's pretty good. I was on cloud nine. Of course it was short lived. Later we went swimming and when we were done and got back in the house, I took off her bathing suit, wrapped a towel around her and tucked it in. Then I took off my suit, wrapped a towel around me (as far as it would go), when she looked up and said "no towels big enough huh?! God love her, LOL.

Today is my 2 month surgiversary...I have been feeling so much better, lost 37 lbs and alot of inches so I go to see my grandgirl at cheer camp and two people stop me to tell me 1. I look amazing and 2. they would not have know me if I had'nt been with my daughter. Makes you feel so empowered.
  5. Way to go Adagray! Doesn't it feel great?! Also, congrats on all the NSV's. That is really something to be proud of - definitely getting healthier!
  6. Yep, I saw the magic number on the scale today... 199!!! This also marks 50 pounds lost for me and halfway to goal. What a great day! More importantly, here are the NSVs I've enjoyed along the way: * No more high BP medicine (after being on it for 10+ years) * No more high cholesterol medicine * No more sleep apnea (no snoring either) * No more pre-diabetes * No more plus size clothing * So much more energy I'm looking forward to the rest of this journey and what it will bring.

    Trip to Lane Bryant

I am waiting for that day. I shop at The Avenue though. I hate their sale/return policies and the local one has some very nasty clerks. I am waiting....... and Congrats on a great NSV!
  10. I posted on my blog this week regarding how I passed the Jazzercise Instructor Audition on Thursday and was basically on cloud nine for a couple of days. I'm very proud of that accomplishment, but I'm even more proud of yesterday. After the initial audition we had a day of seminars and then a day of movement technique/critique. Yesterday was the movement technique day and I can say that I've never worked out so hard in all of my life, BUT it was also one of my proudest days too. It was an 8 hour day with about 5 or so hours spent moving at a high intensity...skipping, jumping, lunging, etc. and even weights and ab work thrown in there for fun:-) I sweat through 3 different workout outfits when all was said and done (glad I listened and brought extras). Looking back over the past 11 months, I'm simply amazed out how much my life has changed for the better. I can remember when I first started taking classes at about 220 lbs. how I thought it would be neat to be an instructor and I knew that I had the dance and leadership ability, but I also knew that I wasn't physically strong enough to make it through the process (couldn't always perform high impact/high intensity and even though that's okay for a student, instructors need that ability). Now I feel so strong and am so grateful that I had this procedure to help me achieve my goals!
  11. Congratulations on your NSV AND your positive attitude!!! On a side note, my first "stall" (and longest) began sometime in my 2nd week as well.
  12. I feel like I've been seeing the changes all along, even in the first month post-op. But, I also am doing a weightloss scrapbook. I do a page for every month w/pics and the printouts from my doctor's scale. Sometimes I write NSVs in there too and printout entries from my blog. I know it probably seems a little self-centered, but its fun to go through and remind myself how far I have come.
  13. Congrats! I can't wait to have an NSV to post on here!
  14. I have been a little down because the scale is not moving and has not for a week. I know about stalls I am guess I am in one at only 2 weeks out. However, I just went upstairs to get dressed for an open house I am hosting as a Real Estate agent this afternoon. First I put on my "hold everything in" foundation garments because my incisions hurt a lot and it helps. I noticed sagging skin on my legs I have never seen before. At first I was inclined to freak but then I realized that meant I was still losing somewhere even if the waist tape measure and scale were not budging. Then I started trying on clothes. All my favorites were too lose. Even some that were tight before surgery. I decided on something I used to love to wear that was very tight before surgery but looked so good on me now that I just kept looking at myself in the mirror...in wonder. This is the first time I am saying this: I LOVE MY SLEEVE.!!!

    NSV shout outs

I loved reading this thread. It is so encouraging. Even though I just learned what a NSV is, I had a great one this week. (My surgery date was 3/16/10 and am down 42 lbs) The last time I saw my cardiologist was in November to talk with him about the sleeve and get cleared for surgery. He totally supported the idea, but I could tell he did not think I would follow through. He was so pleased when I saw him the other day. After telling me that I need to stop one of my meds because my blood pressure was too low, he told me that "MY HEART WAS HAPPY"!!!! I love my sleeve!:willy_nilly:

    NSV shout outs

I gotta tell ya....... it's been a while since I've had a NSV, or I have taken them for grated. I'm 1 year and 4 months out, so they have not come as quickly as they did in the beginning. But I had a few happen this week...... 1- I went to go pay my lawn person, and I saw his wife... and she just kept going on how "good I looked" and asked what size I was. well....... the last pair of pants I bought were a 14 ... She said OMG..... no way... I figured you to be a 7 You are SKINNNY...... tall and skinny!! (That was great and I thanked her for the compliment) and of course she threw in there that I didn't need to lose any more weight. 2- My boss asked me how much I weighed before surgery... another guy was in there and said...... you don;t ever ask a woman her weight or age!! lol But I answered him......my highest weight was 374 (Shocking for me to even tell him to be honest with you all ) I asked him...... before I tell you what I weigh now..how much do you think I weigh? His answer was............................135!!! I told him I loveed him!!! LOL I weigh 173......... he said you sure don't look like you weigh that much at all! 3- Now one I can "measure" I went shopping yesterday...... spur of the moment type of shopping... but I wantd a new pair of Jeans..... and............ I am in a 12-but could fit a size 10!!! LEVI's!!!!! I bought the 12... but after wearing them they are too big......... I should have gotten the 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been in a 10............ ever in my adult life!!! A FRIGGEN SIZE 10!!!!!!!!!!! woooooo hooooooo!!WOOT WOOT!!!! MAJOR victory for me! < Happy dance> Yeaaaaaah for MEEEEEEEE!!

    Best Sports Bras

We have a brand called Triumph in Australia - they make great ones. I noticed at Bootcamp a few weeks ago, we moved inside becuase its freezing at night now in Melbourne and I caught my reflection in the glass - I was dismayed at the truly awful saggy shape my rather large sports bra gave me. I bought new ones and I actually found great supportive ones that are also foam lined and moulded cups for that nice rounded shape. However, i'd have to say one of my biggest NSV's is that I can now comfortably go for a run without a sports bra, just a normal every day bra. I cant believe it, big bouncing bazoongas were always a fact of life for me, I love love love my small C cup breasts. DH makes jokes about breast augmentation but I would never want my boobs any bigger.
  19. Woohoo Christie! Congrats on your NSV! What an achievement! Crystl--happy to hear restriction is upon you once again! That's just awesome that you're able to shop at VS! That was definitely one of my most exciting milestones LOL (I have about 3 pairs of their "Pink" sweatpants with writing on the butt LOL--it's the little things!) Amy--sorry to hear you had a bad food weekend. You should be very proud of yourself that you didn't resort to the bad things that you know would go down! The band can be tricky sometimes, as we all know. Signs, hmmm. I sometimes get one hiccup when I suppose I'm "full". My problem is if I didn't have the willpower to stop eating, I could continue. I'm pretty sure I have good restriction because I can no longer gulp water, but I have no problem eating a slice of pizza every now and then (which I don't do very often) and I stop myself when I feel I've eaten a reasonable amount. Since I'm about 15 away from my first goal, I'm wondering if I should just leave well enough alone so I can maintain here or if I should go tighter. I have had maybe 2 pb/sliming incidents since my last fill on 5/20, so I'm thinking I could stand another .2 or .3 ccs, but my luck it could be too much and I'd end up having to have it all taken out. Decisions, decisions...... I hope everyone had a nice weekend!! Thanks for all the bday wishes, FB buddies :-)!
  20. Christie, great news about ditching the BP meds!!! and bummer about the cherries. I just popped on to share a NSV I forgot too. I can now shop at Vickey's!!!! (that's Victoria's Secret) When I was in Denver the other day I had some time to kill so I walked around a mall. Every other time I have walked in a Victoria's Secret there is nothing that would fit me. Well, this time I walked over to a clearence rack and there hung the most beautiful pair of silk pajamas (mauve & cream stripes) with my name on them! They aren't even the biggest size they have! 50% off and they even have the Vickey's logo ......lol. This is the first thing I have ever worn with the VS on it.
  21. NSV I meant to share earlier and forgot...I am completely off blood pressure meds now. We had been decreasing my doses with time due to the BP being down plus I was having horrid light-headed dizzy spells. As of 2 weeks ago I gave up the meds completely and my blood pressure is running (this is almost hysterical) anywhere from 90/60 to 110/72...110/72 is the HIGHEST reading I've had since I've been watching it so closely. My pulse, which has been high for as long as I can remember and part of the reason I started meds is in the 60's if I'm sitting and chilling and 80's if I'm up walking around...Naturally it goes higher with exercise but comes right back down when I stop. Moral of the story, even thought I'm not at a healthy weight yet, the 70+ pounds I have lost have made me so much healthier (and happier)...even if I don't lose another pound (which I will) it was worth it. AND the dizzy spells are gone, I can stand up quickly without almost blacking out! WOOHOO!! I got my butt kicked by cherries this afternoon....Oh fresh cherries, they were so very very good but came back to haunt me quickly. My son met me outside the bathroom with a barf bag, a pillow and a blanket...it was very sweet.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted on this thread. I went back a couple of pages and it look like everyone is doing great. I'm down 34 pounds since my surgery and going for fill #3 on Wednesday. The NSVs are adding up. I can actually wrap a large towel around my waste and do that tuck thing. I flew coach last week without needing a seat belt extender. I've been reading up on plastic surgery and figure I will be signing up for it by year's end.

When did you see the difference?

You are awesome. Thank you for the reassurance. I said that I can feel it but now I want to see it. I just thought that 30+ lbs would have been alot more visible. Can't wait to see what the next 30 may actually look like. My doctor says we are headed to 220 and I never remember seeing that on a scale. I can not imagine what that looks like but I am sure it is far better than what I have now. My most cherished NSVs will be when I can fit in a coach airplane seat and also ride roller coasters again. My company bought out a theme park for us next week and I can't ride any of the coasters... YET!

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Me! :: Does the Price is Right contestant bounce-squeal:: The thing is that I seriously just realized I was able to respond to this post. I was so focused on the fact that I have about 40lbs to got to meet my tentative goal, that it escaped me that I've lost abouot 105lb. That shows that even after two years of being banded, I'm focused on how overweight I still am instead of how much weight I've managed to lose. But I'm slooowly, getting out of my forever-fattie mindset. Although, I've lost a lot of weight this is all surreal to me. I started at a size 26/28. I am now in a size 18. Each time I pull on a pair of jeans, I still get this moment of brief panic that they will reach my hips and won't go any higher. But they do..every time. And I want to bounce up and down...okay I DO bounce up and down...everytime they fit... ...Not to mention, I hear the "Eye of the Tiger" in my head. Sometimes. okay..most times. I remember my little weight loss ticker being at -15lbs...while it seemed like everyone in the known universe had lost over 80 lbs. I thought I'd never be able to reply to this post. But here I am, 105 lbs down. Unbelievable. If I, Miss World's Slowest Loser, can accomplish this much, anyone can. Thank you guys for every single bit of inspiration that you have provided on this site. Congrats to everyone on their scale and NSVs. For all of you thinking you will never post here...you will.
