Didn't get a fill last week since I'm having surgery on 11/6, I'm OK with that just glad they didn't unfill before the surgery.

Just went through my first stall. Yes it is normal. It's still upsetting. You need to look at the whole picture in two weeks you lost 18#'s. Heck I'm 5 weeks out and I've lost 19 total. Keep doing everything required for your plan. If your following that then you are doing all you can do. The rest is up to your body. Maybe try staying off scale will help.

Wow I can't believe I actually did it. I just hope it is all worth it. I didn't expect to have so much pain. I also didn't expect to gain weight in the hospital (6lbs). The weight has now come off and its only day 3. My cuts are itchy. The good news is that I found a comfortable position to sleep. Everyone has told me that the first weeks are hard. I can't wait to see my doctor so we can go over my diet. I'm looking forward to eating more normal foods and not just optifast.

I do not think it is necessary to have a puree stage. The instructions I received at my facility had only three stages. Liquids... Soft foods... Then regular foods. It could be based on the length of the stages.. As mine was 2 weeks of liquids then 2 weeks or longer of soft foods only.

I want to my doctor's yesterday and she is going do one of three choices. Take it out, go in to make sure that it is in the right position, and or take it out and have gastric done. I am going with the second choice. We had done x rays, cat scan I have been in the hospital three times because of needing IV fluids along with other testing. I just hope that this works. I do not hope this works I pray it does. There are some wrist involve. If anyone has been thought what i am going though please let me know. I can keep liquid downs as long as I am not stuck. If I get stuck than I can not even get liquids down. I get stuck at least three times a week if not more. I have not had a fill.

My date is September 16th, get to start my two week liquid diet today. -
Dr Gadaleta. Had surgery 3 weeks ago. Pre op was great and I consider the surgery a success. He is my hero. Close to the city.

I was sleeved and had my gallbladder removed dec 2014..I was out of work 4 weeks...my recovery took about three weeks...by looking at others on the site there is not much of a difference... what you don't want is to be sleeved and then later have your gallbladder out! I heard one lady on here say she wishes she did it all at once!!
-
Not heard of it...had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks after a csection. That was 23 years ago. Look it up on MEDLINE and see what you can find. That the medical journal intranet. Good luck. Helen

It's perfectly normal! And it may take another couple of weeks before you see any more weight come off. You've probably just started or will start solid foods and that slows down the loss at first. For the next couple of months it's up to you to follow the band rules. It gets easier after you start getting fills and get restriction. Just don't get discouraged. This is a lifetime process, not a diet. Hang in there!
-
Very normal. Eventually we hit a plateau. And when we start consuming solids and mushies we gain or plateau in weight. If you are worried about it try the following: Increase your protein Increase your level of activity Track your calories If you are already doing the above three suggestions, then try changing it around a bit. Sometimes our bodies become use to our routine. By changing your exercise or increasing your calories you can possibly get your body to start losing weight. Good luck!

I'm in the middle of a stall (hoping it's a stall at least...) that started about 1.5 wks post op and now I'm about 2.5 wks out and still stalled. Lost about 11 lbs that first 1.5 wks and just nothing. Getting my protein and increasing my exercise and really hoping the scale will move soon because I'm really scared and frustrated.

Welcome and good luck to you both. It's going to take some patience, losing weight can get a bit boring at times when the weight stalls or slows, but hang in there and it will be gone forever. -

1 Day Post Op, Lots Of Pain :(
Ailly replied to healthiermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same exact thing except I used a heating pad. I'm three days post op and still pretty sore. The heating pad helps with the muscle pain and gas x strips help with those gas bubbles. Hang in there and good luck to you! -
Planning for Help at Home After Surgery
Bufflehead replied to SunflowerGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
0 hours or days of regular help at home needed or planned for. I was fine. I did have my housekeeper come for an extra visit to take care of the heavier chores and change the kitty litter while I had a lifting restriction. She usually comes every other week and I had her come every week for the first four weeks. -
I am 4 weeks out and it took a while to eat more than a few bites of puree. I like 1/2 cup of carrots or cauliflower 1oz of milk (I use cashew but unsweetened coconut is a nice change) and 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein powder. tuna and cottage cheese, I tablespoon of cream soup and 2oz of chicken, oatmeal 1/2 scoop Protein Powder and 2oz 1% milk. Instructions vary so check your diet sheet for allowed foods.

Shake Question At "full Liquids" Stage
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It figures my "big" questions always come at or close to 5 on a Friday and I don't want to bother anyone at the surgeon's office if most here say it's not a biggie. Not sure if this is a problem. In 3 days I start pureed (OMG- cant wait for the ricotta thing!!). So I dug out this amazing blender for Protein etc. shakes I bought years ago and whipped up a concoction- vanilla RTD shake, some greek yogurt, ice, pumpkin pie spice, tsp. of Peanut Butter and a 1/4 a banana. It has been (haha- 2 hours later) amazing! But... as a was gulping (for some reason liquids go down fine- I know I need to slow my roll) I tasted a piece and realized banana has these tiny pulpy seedy pieces. They were extremely fine and did get pulverized through the blender. I had lots of it already. The thing that freaks me out is one day this week someone said something about accumulated stuff like that getting stuck in the staple line and causing an infection. Do you think I have anything to fear? I've been so "good." I read about people going to soft foods almost immediately and can't understand that, however that makes me think if they "made it" doing that-- I'm probably fine??? Also, I'm not having any liquid restriction so this shake was really a lot --- since I didn't feel a need to stop how did you know when to? Calorie wise I'm still prob. around 500 a day but getting in at least the 70 grams and all liquid- easily. Thanks for any knowledge or even if you know a place on here that explains this process a little more fully. -
High protein, low carb for life?
Kidbxrs replied to Kidbxrs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You guys are great. I already feel at ease. Just knowing I'm not alone in this thinking or concern. I know I can do this. The times I have eaten more protein and vegetables and left the white bread and junk food alone I do feel so so much better. It's just that I have failed soooo many times with that. But hey now that I think about it what diet have I not failed on. This is one reason I think this tool will help me so much. I'm in my first of three months of my doctor supervised diet. I just have so many emotions. Thank you all so so much for your comments. -
Anyone try Sun Warrior Rice Protein pwdr?
Jaime_Boston replied to Jaime_Boston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no! I wonder if the plain one has an after taste. Looking for more natural powders. I'm still pre op (2 more weeks) but I'm proactively searching for a good natural powder. -
I am about 5 weeks post op and have been following all my Dr's guidelines. Then I realized that I was eating a piece of hot pepper cheese as a snack which may contain some hot pepper seeds. I know we are not supposed to eat seeds. Wondering if anybody knows anything about this. I plan on calling my NUT just want to know what everybody else has heard.

Feedback anyone sleeved on Coumadin/Warfarin
clk replied to clk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It does, thanks. I know that recently when she had another surgery they had to lower her dosage to be able to do the operation. She spent three days in the hospital under care and being monitored before they could slice her. I hope to hear some experiences that I can share with her before pursuing this as an option. Thanks again, ~Cheri -
You have gotten some great advice. Sip, sip, sip, and sip some more. Staying hydrated and getting in all of your Protein should be your primary focus right now. Also, be sure to walk and move around. Follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Walking is a great way to start. Also, as @@Babbs mentioned, none of us lose at a constant or predictable rate, but most of us experience our first stall about three weeks post-op. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Follow your program and weigh infrequently if the numbers on the scale mess with your head. And, Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
