In week four post op and my 3oz chix gets cold before I can finish it. I think it depends on the viscosity of the food. I can eat a non fat Greek yogurt (4oz) in about 20 minutes but I still gotta go slow. Speed eating hurts. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I stopped taking the medicin on the 4th day. I just could not continue anymore and strangely enough, I was not dizzy and austere bymore. I take the magnesium every once in a while when I feel bloated and it helps. I am just being extra careful and making sure I keep up with how I feel during the day or after I eat.. As dude said, I can not even look at a box of broth. I had some in my room the other day and I nearly threw up from the smell of it. I open a tiny cup of activia yogurt and eat it through out the day. Last bit of it I have just before sleep. I got the protein shake and it's disgusting. I can not have that either. Today I tried two servings with natural and sugar free apple juice. I know I won't benefit from it much but I wanted to put something in my stomach since the lack of energy is really getting to me. I did not have sugar or juice for the rest of the day. The shake was alright but towards the end of it, I could not soo anymore.. I ate two straws of ramen noodles yesterday. I wanted to see if I would feel sick which I didn't.. Today I bought some mushroom soup and put lots of water in it. It tasted so so good but I didn't want to push my luck with it so only a couple spoons ful..I was feeling satisfied already which feels amazing.. I don't recal ever feeling ful before. One week ago on this day, I had my surgery. I know I did not take my time with the clear liquid phase but everything I was having, I either hated too much or included sugar and that can't be good.. Transitioning right now but being very very very careful.. So far I haven't felt sick from anything I have eaten except one time I had a tiny spoon ful of solid split pea accidentally. I forgot for a moment. I felt nauseated and dizzy but it was over shortly after. In the mornings when I wake up, I feel like my tummy hurts a little as if it would from hunger. I sip a little Gatorade and it really helps. Starting to feel better.. For those of you who have come out of the surgery recently, hang in there.. Things will get better soon!

Not sure what my calories were at that point, but know it took me 18 months to, consistently, hit the required 80 gms of Protein per day. My NUT told me to eat NOTHING that wasn't a high source of protein, no veggies, fruits, and of course no rice/pasta/potatoes/bread/flour or sugar. Getting enough protein helps keep your body from going into starvation mode and helps minimize hair loss as @@Kindle mentioned. I could only consume about 1/4 cup in one sitting, sometimes not even that. Half a Greek yogurt or Protein shake and I was STUFFED, lol!! Is 40 gms of protein the goal, since you are newly sleeved and it's difficult to hit 80 at that point? Basically, at this point as long as you are focusing on lean/fat free protein and calorie free liquids plus taking the required Vitamins, there really is no need to worry about daily calories unless your NUT is concerned that calories are so low. You don't want your metabolism to shut down and go into starvation mode. It does get easier as you heal. Congrats on the 22 pounds!

I used fairlife milk and less protein powder then they weren't so thick. I HATE protein drinks and never did find one I enjoyed but had to do it in the beginning. Also got creative with getting my protein from Greek yogurt and sugar free pudding made with fairlife milk. I got 60 grams a day those first few weeks with very few protein shakes. Also did buy a few premade protein drinks for the days where I was low. Thought they were better than the powder. I now have tons of powder that I will never use as I tried to find the one that I would like. Honestly this phase will be over soon and you will have food then. It seems like forever while you're going through it but it really will be over soon! Best of luck. Find the power of positive thinking.

May 24 Surgery Day
ChooChi73 replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't had cream of chicken, but I've had tomato and cream of broccoli. With both if them I diluted it with milk. They've settled well so far. one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time. Thank you so much. I was able to have 4 oz of soup (took me two hours to finish it) The milk helped so much, and it added extra Protein. Thank you so much!So glad that it helped. My NUT Said everything has to be thinned out at this point. I had 2 oz of Greek yogurt thinned out with milk and added Protein powder for Breakfast. It took me 45 min to eat it, but it was delish and settled well. one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time. -
My surgery day is the same as you. 6/27. 6/7: A group counseling session 6/9: Pre/op day. Meeting with the surgeon again, NUT to review pre/post op diet and bone density scan 6/13: start two week high Protein liquid diet. I believe I am allowed 4 oz of real protein, like chicken, yogurt, eggs and unlimited no starchy veggies with 4 Protein shakes a day. 6/27: THE BIG DAY! I am scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 1:15pm which makes me nervous since you can have nothing to drink, not even Water after Midnight! We're surgery twins!!

What to eat
Inner Surfer Girl replied to saphfyre14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a year out and I still eat a lot of Greek Yogurt, Cottage cheese, Turkey, Tuna, Cheese, etc. -
I'm going to agree to disagree.... This surgery is an opportunity to retrain the stomach and introduce healthy food back... It's about making lifelong changes that can be sustained, sorry but two Protein shakes and a yogurt aren't going to be a way to eat for the rest of your life nor would it be healthy... 500 -600 calories a day is not much at all... 1000-1200 seems more in a healthy zone... I congratulate you on your weight loss... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had a very similar situation, but had my band drained for both pregnancies (banded since 2003). I had band slippage and 2 hiatal hernias (first diagnosed Nov 2015/repaired Dec 2015, and second April 2016/repaired May 17 w/band removal & sleeve conversion). I'm currently at day 11 with my sleeve. Loving it! The first few days were a bit rough -- painful to drink, then the constant feeling of hunger. Yesterday (day 10), I was able to have yogurt and my first full feeling! Do know there is hope, and you are not alone! I read in one of the forums here that patients with band conversions have a more difficult time. My NP confirmed this yesterday at my first post-op appointment. So do keep this in mind if you're tempted to stray from better food choices.

Either one is fine, use both. I believe the light and fit (it's Dannon) has less fat (which I really dont care about tbh) and 7g sugar is nothing to fret over when you are only getting about 500-600 calories a day. My Protein shakes were nearly 30 grams a pop, so 2 of those pretty much took care of requirements, plus 12g more for the yogurt. I have had no trouble meeting protein goals at any phase of the diet. I lost over 20% of my excess weight in the first month and my fasting blood sugar dropped from 150+ to 89. It's still 89. This surgery was the best idea ever.

I know the feeling. I'm 4 weeks out and have had raging nausea, on Prilosec, on soft foods and know I'm not meeting protein but am so sick of protein shakes. can't take urso for gallstone, was sick for 2 days taking 1 pill. nausea at the start of all meals. does this get better??? I have lost weight, not weighing myself yet just trying to eat daily greek yogurt, fluids, meds, so many vitamins, and real food which now tastes good but always an aftertaste.

Definitely talk to your NUT. You should get a list for each post-op phase. Mine were: Week one - Clear liquids (with a couple of exceptions) Week two - full liquids Week three - soft foods Week four - soft mechanical Etc. Initially, for clear liquids I was allowed: Premier Protein (exception to clear), ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups (exception to clear), bone broth, Isopure clear, decaf tea, Herb tea, plain Water, water with crystal light and Mio drops, sugar-free Jello, sugar-free Popsicles Full liquids were all of the above, plus: other Protein shakes, pudding, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, v8, no sugar added apple sauce Soft foods: all of the above plus: refried Beans, tuna, soft cheese, deli turkey, soft cooked vegetables like green beans, etc. Soft mechanical: soft foods that are a bit chewier (I don't remember the list). I found it helpful for several months to keep out my approved list and consult it frequently. I didn't put anything new in my mouth without checking the list for a while until I was comfortable knowing what was allowed. You really need to follow your program because it does vary from program to program. The priorities are Fluid (at least 64 oz) and protein (my target is 100 grams). Tracking is critical (I use MyFitnessPal) to make sure I am reaching my targets. Fluids and protein are critical for healing and weight loss. The texture is critical for healing and to avoid complications. -
@@Shaydi.Laine not sure which light and fit Greek yogurt you use.... I picked some of this up on my recent trip to the grocery store, one container has 7g sugars so I'm thinking your better to get 2% Greek yogurt which I think has 4g of sugar and more Protein... I'm pre-op so for me it's going help transition my diet to a better place... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Cream Soups, light & fit greek yogurt, and sugar free pudding got me through those first two weeks. 2 shakes a day, cream soup for dinner, yogurt or pudding for a snack. Fluids in between throughout the day. You'll make it. We all did!

Okay, I only had surgery (sleeve) done 17 days ago, so I'm currently in the soft food phase. The past few days I've been wondering if I'm actually eating too much for this early stage. I've been hitting my Fluid and Protein goals most days this week, and I'm getting my protein from shakes, eggs, cheese, tuna, salmon, Greek yogurt, and hummus. I feel great - plenty of energy and am healing well. But, I'm already eating between 800 and 1000 calories a day. Is that a crazy huge amount for only 17 days after surgery? If so, how do I still meet my protein goals while consuming fewer calories? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

9 Days Post Op still have pain?
fancy4life replied to JosieJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got sleeved 5/12 and still feel slight pain but definitely depends on how much I'm doing. Last two days have definitely gotten better. I had to go back to work this past Monday , I felt exhausted. I eat every 2 hours ex ½ egg, light and fit yogurt, sip on my Protein shake and the last 2 days were good , my wounds are finally closed and the bruising went away. It takes time and every day I notice I'm dropping inches. Follow your gut listen to your body and walk walk walk. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?
Read2016 replied to jackbh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pre-op but have had my NUT appointment for the post op eating the other day... I'll be on full liquids on day 3 after surgery adding yogurt and such on the 5th day after... I wish someone could explain why there are so so many different approaches to post op nutrition when we all have had the same surgery... There does not seem to be any standardized protocols other than Protein and fluids...Im noticing in post on here some will say their nut said something and others get outraged or assume the poster must have got their direction wrong.. When in reality it just seems each nut gives different advice...ultimate we have to follow the nut working with our surgeon... Like my nut said down the road you if you choose to have bread it must be toasted to avoid it getting stuck, have not seen anything on here about that... I was also told to take B12 once a week forever, don't see anyone mention that... I'm wondering do I have a great nut or not so great, she seemed on her game. Its not that i dont like food, but theres 3 meals a day and if i cut out the protein shake, theres just not enough protein or calories in it. For instance, today i had a half an egg for breakfast and a whole 5.3oz yogurt for lunch, which was way more than usual. Thats literally maybe 110 calories and 15gs of protein. I cant have some huge dinner..

I do have the baby bell mini cheese as a meal, and yogurt yes. I have protein in my meals but there are only 3 meals and they are obviously very small.

May 24 Surgery Day
ChooChi73 replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey all, I am a week post op today. I started on full liquids(pudding, yogurt, creamed Soups etc.) Yesterday. My NUT said I could have very thinned out cream of wheat, so that's what I had for Breakfast this morning. We'll I'm pretty sure I experienced my first dumping syndrome. I felt faint, nauseous, horrible sweats, diarrhea. Ugh. Probably won't have that again. Creamed soups settle well though. On the plus side. I've lost 10 lbs since surgery, and 25 lbs since pre-op diet!!! one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time. -
Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?
ssflbelle replied to jackbh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't that odd I had 2 weeks of liquids only. I was not allowed yogurt or cottage cheese until week 4. I find even now 17 weeks post op there are many times I can't even finish 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or a cup of yogurt. -
Hi, I have been discharged from hospital yesterday I have had a small amount of yogurt today with the recommended half orange juice and Water taken my soft Vitamins before surgery I liked my Protein shakes with milk but now they are making me feel sickly has anyone got any advice for these early days I feel I made the right decision having surgery but just am worried that I may start off on the wrong foot now at the beginning Michael. Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?
jackbh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in my second week since surgery and I'm on whole liquids now. I'm following directions and eating a little bite at a time and waiting for any stomach responses but I'm a little concerned that the yogurt and cottage cheese is going down so easily. I get a little tiny " don't put no more in here just yet" signal but after I wait I can finish 3 oz. easy of this stuff. After reading about how so many others have had problems at this stage of getting stuff down or not being able to eat more than 1-2 oz. I'm slightly concerned that it's going down as easily as it is. I'm not complaining at all about being able to get the Protein shakes, Water and all in like I'm supposed to but I guess from reading so many posts I was expecting this to be a lot more difficult. This surgery does make you a little nuts don't it? Like I wasn't before. Lol. -
I have been banded for a little over a month now (yay! 35lbs lost) and I have found whenever I am hungry even after I've eaten 3 small meals a day I would eat either string cheese or Greek yogurt. It has really helped me doing so because if I don't snack I'm afraid I would turn it into a buffet style meal. Willpower is key in this Chris (Banded 4-15-2016 @328lbs)

I was also sleeved on 5/10. I lost 8lbs pre-op and 13 post-op but I'm at a stall. Started high Protein diet this week and I feel like I'm eating a ton. 3rd week diet plan is yogurt, cottage cheese, 2% cheese, eggs and nut butter. I have to eat a 4 "meals" a day (2oz - 3oz each) plus 2 premier Protein shakes a day. I end up eating approx 1000 calories a day and 110 grams of protein. Seems like a ton. Doctor says to walk 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. No more and no less until 2 months post-op. Glad to find some other May sleevers. Look forward to following your progress.
