I feel like I have a lot of stress going on in my life right now too. I just keep telling my self that after surgery I have six weeks to focus on me. This is a good motivator for me to keep pushing through the rough patches.

Revision Surgery for Dilated Esophagus!
WASaBubbleButt replied to hefftynetty's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
There is a revision specialist by the name of Dr. Husted. He was writing on another board that the latest studies show that if you surgically reposition or replace a band, you have a 70% chance of another slip in the first five years. He was also referring to a conference he went to in FL and this was discussed a great deal and most at this conference will not be surgically repositioning or replacing bands anymore, they have had very low success with this. Is there any chance that a malabsorptive procedure might serve you a little better? You've been struggling for a long time, three years and not at goal yet... maybe you just need a bit more help? -
Had my 1st fill yesterday and it did not go well. I went in very positive that I wasn't going to have those problems I've heard about but I did. I have some fluid behind my 2 large incisions so they tried to remove that. Then I wanted a fill because I have no resistance, the port has moved deeper so it took a while to find during that time they did a lot of poking on it. Thank goodness for numb drug!!! I don't think I could have handled it without because it was still painful. I don't want to scare anyone my doctor promised me this is unusual to have problems and even said a lot of times people with my very fair skin have more issues than others (in anything!!!) ahhh sometimes being a red head is not fun! Anyway I did like that his scale says I've lost 2 more pounds than mine did so I'll take it!!! I go back in two weeks, they were only able to do 3CC's so in two weeks they will try again and I'm sure it will be better!

Thanks all! I have been exercising 4 days a week, and have been planning to pick it up a notch (5-6 days a week). Karey, I'll use your advice as extra motivation to make it to the gym. That and I am only 3.5 pounds away from Onederland!!! In my entire adult life I haven't been below 200 lbs... I'm SO excited. ~Lori -
Two Years In: Results Near Typical
goodnuff replied to goodnuff's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you. As much as thought I had prepared myself for dealing with stress so that I wouldn't turn to food for comfort it still happened. I'm thankful that I can't eat the amounts I used to and that I continued to follow the rules my dietician gave me of no fluids with food and waiting an hour after eating to start drinking again otherwise I'm certain I would have gained it all back. After I wrote this anniversary reflection I spoke with a dietician/"health coach" offered through my work. She made a comment that struck me. "Because of the RNY there are severe consequences to not providing highly nutritious food to your body. If you want to live a disease free, healthy life you need to eat nutrient dense food." Of course I have heard that before but for whatever reason it really stuck in my head this time. Since April 1st I have been focusing on logging my intake and getting at least 64 ounces of water every day. I refuse to weigh myself for at least another week but my pants are looser and according to my daughter my "turkey-waddle", all of that loose wrinkly skin under my chin, isn't as waddly. I hope our lives see less stress soon and that we gain healthier coping mechanisms too. Good luck to us!!! -
Welcome Chad! Keep us posted on your progress thru the process. My surgery is scheduled for 7/11, I started my 2 week preop liver shrink diet today!

should I go back to work?
prettilips3 replied to lucy00us's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, That is pretty quick to go back to work already. I had mine on 6/10/13 and went back to work after 5 weeks. If you don't feel up to it I would check with your HR dept and find out how much time you are allotted? Good luck -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Need a buddy/mentor please!
Beedje replied to LapLady09's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi -I am 32 years old and had Lapband surgery 10/2007. I have lost a total of 105 pounds and have about 40 left to lose. I have had about 8 fills total and 1 small unfill. I recently had a 2nd very minor surgery 2 weeks ago to replace my port with a low profile port b/c I have lost so much weight you could see a slight bump ( don't let me scare you). To me I feel Lapband was a lifesaver. There are definite challenges but remember the postive outweighs the challenge. This is such a learning process and even now I am still learning. I am open to help if anyone has any questions or needs support. Support is the best thing you can get through this process. Good luck to all  -
Does the band make your "feeling full" signal work stronger?
dman3998 replied to CapitolChick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
actually you are not likely getting enough Protein right now, but when you graduate to soft and real food that will change you should start Protein drinks soon too. that feeling on the left side is not a full feeling it is a too full feeling. I think things are not settled down yet. it went away after about 4 weeks or if I didn't eat too much. -
How Soon Out Did You Start Exercising?
Escape_Pod replied to turtlebutt825's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started walking as soon as I got home, and have been increasing time, distance, and intensity. After about 3 weeks I started using my stationary bike - I want to do everything I can to ensure I'm losing fat, not muscle mass, so I keep my metabolism up. At my 9 week checkup, I asked the surgeon about exercise restrictions, and he said I could do anything at that point, so I joined yoga at work and want to start adding some strength training to my regimen - see if I can reduce my bat wings. I think it's all a matter of finding something you enjoy, and as the weight comes off, you'll enjoy the energy you're feeling, and the strength of your new body. For me, music during my workout is crucial - keeps my pace up, and makes it so much more enjoyable. -
How Soon Out Did You Start Exercising?
swizzly replied to turtlebutt825's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I had to wait six weeks for anything but walking, but I still haven't done anything but walking. So in other words, I'm still waiting to start working out. I did add walking to/from work to my routine, so I can't castigate myself for being a complete lazy couch potato. -

Tell me about your preop appt experience
B.Annie replied to B.Annie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
SO my preop appt with my surgeon went well. I signed some documents and got a folder full of every bit of information you could ask for from preop to surgery, discharge through post op life. Even a list of recommended and not recommended protein supplements. They gave me my pre and post op prescriptions and Then they said that I only needed a week of clear liquid preop diet so they moved my surgery day up from the 26th then 24th of this month (next week). The only thing that I'm disappointed about is that I have to go back down to do the hospital registration and pre-op tests on a different day. It's just one more trip that I didn't want to have to take considering it's an hour and a half away and I have been 6 kids. The office manager did say that even though they don't like to, since my surgery date is a week away they might be able to just do all the testing is the day of surgery and I would just go in a little bit earlier. -
I met with surgeon & pa and did the pre-op physical today. My insurance has not yet approved the band...so I called them & the hospital never sent over my packet. I have surgery scheduled for a week from tomorrow so it will probably get delayed due to this oversight. Just a word of warning-if you are waiting on insurance approval-be sure to call them to make sure they received the paperwork! They faxed mine to insurance today but due to the short time frame surgery date cannot be guaranteed. I'm so disappointed since everyone at work scheduled their vacations around my surgery to help me out...now I feel like I put everyone out!

Overcoming The Addiction
4ALongerLife replied to ChristinaRose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Christina Rose, you are a beautiful girl (said in a totally platonic way, fyi!) and I love the ticker pic of you and your spouse/boyfriend. Congrats on your weight loss journey that is about to begin. You will have a rush of so many emotions, but it's exciting.. and scary. I am still trying to figure out how to eat now that I can and still not sure about it. I'm struggling this week, but it's a roller coaster some days. But I didn't gain all of this weight overnight, I sure am not going to learn to lose it nor lose it overnight either. Hang in there, sounds like you are off to a wonderful start! Sassygirl, hang in there yourself ok? You have done a wonderful job according to your ticker.... but I love what you said, it's totally true. No other addicts have to have their choice drug and 'get over it.' It's a hard struggle.... but we are all worth success. Hugs. -
That sounds similar to what I was experiencing...I went to the surgeon and asked about this, and he said it's probably gas, so try to have 1 to 2 Gas-X pills before meals. Also, it's probably because you could be eating you meals too fast. I'm currently almost 6 weeks out, and I'm still trying to get used to eating more slowly. I followed this advice, and it seems to help me a lot. Please let me know how you make out!

Found new protein.....
ppressey24 replied to ppressey24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered the pure. It has no taste so i basically wanted it to add in other things to get the extra Protein. Now i was doing infusions for my chronic fatigue syndrome, ms, and my arthritis. But it didnt help but for a couple of days. I read where tumeric in the natural root or the Vitamin helps so i started with the vitamin, and thats all ive had now in 6 months. Im only 1 week post op and i no longer need that total replacement that i was looking at in april. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Since being banded, I've gotten the cooking bug!
this sucks replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too! I am always on the hunt for recipes that will satisfy my family and my band! I also love PInterest. Last week I made the chicken Parmesan meatballs and they were delicious! I think it's because now that I eat less quantity, I look for more quality and stronger flavors. -
