  1. I don't think I have ever seen any of that yogurt at my local store. Which is odd because we have a large Greek population here... Enjoy your B&J binge chickie!!!
  2. Ahh, CRS. My favorite disease. I've had it for years now. So do any of you eat Greek yogurt? I tried it for the first time today. Yummy yummy yummy!!!
  3. Well, I joined my Lucky #7s Thanksgiving Challenge to lose 10 lbs. by Thanksgiving...then I weighed myself and found I was 4 lbs. heavier than when I last weighed myself. DANG! But, it DID motivate me to excersize...yes, Anita....EXCERSIZE! I got out my pedometer that sometimes works, but gives me an idea of how much I'm moving throughout the day. I started getting on the treadmill (OK, not for more than about 20 minutes, but that's 20 min. more than I was doing before) I also started doing some crunches (you should see Stormy try to do them with me! She even grunts! I'm a sound-effects mom, makes everything more fun.) I've been swimming with the family at least twice a week and for the past 4 days I've gone out to chop wood! Makes me feel powerful. I found it funny that today Andrew and I were fighting over who was going to go chop and who was going to stay inside and monitor the 2 yr old eating yogurt...I won! I'm feeling good and even if I don't accomplish the 10 lbs., I feel like I've already won. The Halloween candy likes me a lot. Soon the bag will be empty and I'll be safe! I'm doing a lot better than before though! Maybe I should just adopt my neighbors' way of thinking and just call Halloween demonic and not Celebrate it? Nope, can't do that, it's too much fun! Well, the cruise is just around the corner and I'm actually feeling like I might look ok! I've been tanning and that always helps! Now, I just need to get my hair done and that's a real problem out here! Seems my stylist has used all of her products on herself and is out and awaiting a shipment...I'm curious if the chemicals went on her head or up her nose. (Inhalent abuse is HUGE out here! Sad, but true.) Later folks! I'd name you all, but do you really need to be reminded as to what your name is? Oh, just to make this even longer.... I came to the realization this week that I actually DO have a mental problem with food. I always thought that I wasn't one of "those people", but I AM! Oh my gosh! I really DO have a problem with food and I can actually SEE it now that I can't eat! I really DO have a problem with eating small/regular portions! Thanks for the support!
  4. Woofay - I am doing better because I went and worked out. There is something about those endorphins that really helps me cope better. My band is really restrictive and I tried two kinds of Chinese food tonight, both PB'ed, and then one of my dogs got on the chair and ate the food left in the bowl. I gave up on dinner and had a yogurt and a Healthy Choice bar, which go down easily. Tomorrow I will have a Protein shake. I am supposed to have another fill next week, that I think I will cancel. I don't see that I need any more restriction. Lap Dancer - I am so proud of you for doing the head work. I have been going to therapy for a long time, but since banding my sessions have been very powerful. I think that not eating to take care of me emotionally opens up all sorts of things I need to work on. I am trying to be very brave and gentle with myself. Last week's session was about my family. If I lose weight and get healthy will they win? Because my weight has been my retaliation for their abuses about my weight. My therapist said that I need to consider that the family isn't the winner if I lose weight, even though they may think they are and say cruel, mindless judgmental things. It had a profound impact on my thinking. Some of my stuff is sooooooooooooo old. Therapy is another tool, like the band. Mal - how is your son? You haven't mentioned anything recently, I hope that is because things are good. Hurray for exercise, it is the one place you are moving, because you choose to and not because someone else "needs" you. Hugs all - hope everyone is considering the 9th at Red Robin at 7pm. Write for directions! Michelle
  5. Second post: Today, Sunday-April 20, Yahoo has a front page story on what to eat. VERY good info. Five must eat foods for good nutrition added to your diet of high protein every day. If the story is gone by the time you read this highlights were green tea up to 4 cups (antioxidants), seeds and nuts-almonds, cashews (anti's) full of omega 3, whole grains for fiber - 3 servings (oatmeal), 25 grams of dark leafy greens like asparagus, broccoli, and a serving of low fat milk, Vitamin D, or yogurt ( 8 oz. )
  6. It's a lovely day in the neighborhood! A new day has begun! My breakfast was so yummy! I rode my bike with the front window open because it was warm in my house! Nice breeze! I'm sure the neighbors loved the view of me on my cycle, panting away! No one made them look! Day 2 S- 1/2 LowCarb Slim Fast before riding my bike B-1 fried egg on top of Morningstar Farms Griller, half slice of 2% cheese S- cottage cheese L-3 oz of ground beef patty S-Activia Yogurt D-3 oz of ground turkey patty S- Jello SF with FF/SF Whipped cream dandilion tea with lemon, splenda cranjuice exercise: 35 mins on my cycle hydration: goal - 94mls of water and crystal lite Good Luck PB buddy! (yesterday, my calories were 1172 and my protein was 89) post when you can! I'll be thinking of you - all day Missy! Love, dee~:wink2:
  7. Hey Dee! Well, I ate absolutly terribly this weekend and now I am ready to start this P diet! I am not disciplined enough to pre-plan my meals, I wish I was! This is what I have had so far... B~Atkins shake S~HB egg (kind of hung there for a while, then it got stuck!) L~chicken patty S~1/2 yogurt D~?? S~?? I plan on walking Buster our usual 3 mile walk and water??? as always, by my side! I weighed this moring too....here we go sistah!!! I have to go back and print the diet. Oh, thanks for asking about Chris. He wouldn't wake up so I could take him to the urgent care. I think he will be fine...he CAN walk...LOL. I had sooo much to do this weekend that if he wanted to go, he had to get up early, he didn't so we didn't go and I haven't heard him complain and as a matter of fact, he ended up skating yesterday.
  8. What's CRS? I love Greek yogurt! It's much thicker and therefore more filling, and it's so low calorie! Did you have the plain kind, or the kind with fruit? I like the plain kind with a teaspoon of low sugar Strawberry jam mixed into it. Also, a way to make extra thick and yummy protein shakes is to mix milk with protein powder and about 4oz of plain greek yogurt, blend it in a blender with some ice.
  9. Weighed yesterday and I've lost 72 lbs! It's weird, cause I stalled for 3 weeks.. Then ate a bunch of stuff I shouldn't have.. Broke the stall. Now I'm super motivated again! Exercising and eating good, and I started using miralax every morning and adding all bran buds to my yogurt in the mornings. Man fiber makes a difference! So lots of fiber and protein and stay away from cake! Lol. Keep going guys! U can do it!
  10. Hi everyone! I was sleeved on 10/14 and I have not burped since then even though I feel like I should be able to. I can get small little burps out but they feel forced- they're not like the burps I used to have before surgery. I'm still mostly on liquids even though I'm cleared for pureed food (I'm so scared I'm going to get a leak) but I have had pureed beef, Greek yogurt, and some creamed soups (not real cream). Will I start burping if I eat more pureed food?? It's getting kind of uncomfortable and I'm getting scared I will never burp again lol!! Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!!

    Who Are You?

Typical day. I get up drink a protein shake with 30 grams protein. Usually takes me an hour. Wait 30 minutes then start drinking water till lunch. Wait 30 minutes them do about 1/3 cup oikos triple zero Greek yogurt. I like strawberry and the salted caramel. It has 15 grams protein. Wait 30 minutes. Start drinking water. Drink all day. Then for supper I'll either finish the yogurt or if I'm not nauseous I'll puree 1/2 can chicken rice soup the small can. I take my time and savor it. About 30 minutes. Wait 30 minutes then back on the water. I use apple juice to get my crushed pills and supplements down just enough for about 2 drinks. And if I get hungry late I'll have a sugar free popcicle. I'm probably not getting enough calories but I'm getting my water in. And if I do the soup and I'm hungry still later I'll finish the yogurt for the extra protein. I had a bad hunger day one day so I made a protein smoothie I put one scoop unflavored whey protein powder, 2 packets splenda, about 1/4 banana and 2 strawberries with a little crushed ice blended it. Then I just sipped on it to keep hunger down. Plus I'm walking 1 mile everyday. It may not be tge right way but it's working for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I ate a lot of refried beans. I also would pour some of the liquid out of lentil soup and put my immersion blender in it to eat the thickened lentils and vegetables. I ate greek yogurt and tofu. I think I was allowed to eat string cheese at that point as well. I was allowed to have eggs then, but only had them a few times at that stage.
  13. @ProfessorSlim - try some greek yogurt, it has lots of protein - stir just a little no sugar jam in it. Maybe you are still swollen and need a little more time. Drink warm tea right before trying anything, don't worry about the rule of stopping drinking 30 min before food at this point - that is for when you are on solid food - all we do all day at this point is to get all the liquids and all the protein in any way we can. Hang in there.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Au contraire, mon ami! My liquid diet is 8 days prior to surgery - mostly milk and yogurt and clears, then clears only 24 hours before. I might be ready to perish at that point!

    May 2007 Banders

Hi Guys - Just wanted to check in. I was banded on Monday and I gotta tell you, this surgery kicked my ass! I've had several laproscopic surgeries before, always came through just fine, no gas, no pain. Not this time! Tuesday and Wednesday were the worst, with the pain and nausea. Feeling better now, just have a very low energy level. Got out of the house for a few hours today and almost passed out in Eddie Bauer! Hunger is minimal. I've been living on yogurt, soup, thinned mashed potatoes and water. It's so weird to me to not be hungry, or to be full before I'm even done eating! I'll start back on some protien shakes next week. My best to everyone, pre and post banding!

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Yes, I add it to the squash purée and other things that don't already have protein in it. I add it after I heat it up. I have one scoop of unflavored protein that I sprinkle into foods all day long. Others like the potato/leek Soup, I added plain Greek yogurt for creaminess and protein. I put Benefiber in my shakes and take 2 colace pills a day, so I don't get constipated. Mine are loose, but I'd rather have it that way than strain from constipation. Molly 10/2
  17. 7 weeks?!? Wow god bless you During purée I ate cottage cheese, yogurt, chicken and pork and turkey in my cuisinart and added liquids to make it a little purée The pork I gotta say I added BBQ sauce just a little so I could get the taste.
  18. I actually get between 60 and seventy. So here goes, breakfast I have cheese or peanut butter on an English, for about ten grams. Lunch is greek yogurt for 12 or tuna for around fifteen or leftover protein from the night before for up to twenty grams supper is usually, pork or chicken for around twenty grams. I then have two protein snacks to make it up to at least sixty. That's one between lunch and supper and the other after supper before bed.

    June 2006 Band Crew

I have lost right at 10 lbs. Seems to be working for us! Hey All: I read that we should only be eating/drinking 2 oz at a time, but today I was able to get more than that in in one sitting. I have had 2-20 oz bottles of water, 1 shake, 3/4 cup Mock Tortilla Soup, 1 cup cucumber soup, a low fat yogurt, and 1 thing of Jello pudding today. Seems like way too much compared to what I was doing last week. No pain, but geez.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Hi October sleevers, another newbie joining in. I was sleeved on 10/17 and am anxiously counting the hours until I get to graduate from full liquids to purees on Thursday. Mostly because I've been living primarily off of yogurt and Protein shakes (most Soups aren't high enough in Protein and I end up only eating them on days when I'm over my protein goal) and I'm really looking forward to more savory stuff - dinner that tastes like dinner! Also, alas, I thought protein shakes were fine pre-surgery but I'm really sensitive to the smell now and have to get creative to mask it. I start back to work tomorrow, teleworking for a few days and then back to the office next week. I'm a little nervous about it because my stamina still isn't the best, but hopefully they will understand if I start drooping midway through the day. The hardest part will be providing myself with enough of the right kind of foods to keep me going - I'm thinking of looking for some shelf-stable milk boxes I can keep at my desk for emergencies along with pre-measured Protein shake powders, plus some of those squeezable fruit puree pouches in case I let my blood sugar get too low and need a little quick energy. Some really useful things I've discovered so far: Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt - 80 calories, sugar free, 12 grams of protein in a 5.5 oz serving. Plus I think they are quite tasty. Sugar Free coffee syrups (by Torani, DaVinci, Monin, etc.) - a tablespoon of one of these can add a great flavor boost. Sometimes I add unflavored protein to a yogurt, pudding, oatmeal, etc., and then add a complementary syrup to help mask the protein flavor. They can also help make a protein shake better. Don't add too much, though; in large quantities they can have a chemically flavor. Note that these aren't like the extracts you use in baking - they also contain sweetener, so if you are using them take that into account. PB2 peanut flour (powdered peanut) - another flavor addition for protein stuff that also adds some extra protein, though it works best if you blend the shake. (Using a Blender Bottle or similar, some grit will settle to the bottom of the cup.) When I got to full liquids I bought a ton of soups and sugar free puddings. but I haven't eaten many at all - I can only eat so much in a day and usually I end up going with a higher protein shake or yogurt. Maybe now that I'm going back to work I'll have more time to get my protein in and therefore a bit more flexibility... Weight loss has been going well so far. I lost more in the nearly four weeks since surgery than I did in the four months prior, which is encouraging! I'm at the halfway point in what I call the "healing" diet - my surgeon doesn't put you on regular food until 8 weeks - and I'm really anxious to stop having to blend everything! At least starting this week I'll be able to share some meals with the family again - I'm going through our standard meals and trying to figure out which ones are puree-able. I'm thinking that things with sauces are going to be my best bet... maybe a pot roast in the crock pot, that sort of thing, and then I could just puree up a few portions for myself. We'll see how it goes!

    August surgery buddies!

I understand the frustration with not losing. I thought the first week or two would show a great bit of loss, but so far the scale is hovering between 296-298 fluctuating up and down. I’m only 5 days out so I guess it’s still fluid retention from the surgery itself. I just really wanted to end out August under 290. I know that it is nothing I am doing wrong. I’m walking every 4 hours, getting my water in, I hit 60g of protein today but have been averaging 40-50. Drinking shakes, eating yogurt, and still doing clear liquids. I track everything in Carb Manager. My calories haven’t gone above 400 all week. I’m following every instruction they gave me to the letter. So if I still haven’t lost by my post-op next week, at least I’ll have a log of everything I’m doing and eating to show them, so maybe they can help me figure out what I need to adjust.

    August surgery buddies!

How far PO are you? Is there a calorie level your nutritionist recommends? Mine had me bump to 800, I'm eating 4 meals a day plus a snack. Every 3 hours I'm eating 2 oz of protein + 2 oz of either veg, carb or fruit. Snack is greek yogurt w protein powder. Constantly putting calories in, 150ish at a time. I feel so full of energy last week, walking 40-60 minutes a day between 2 or 3 walks. Plus I'm just up off my butt so much more than I used to be. I'd check w nutritionist, but maybe a little more calories?

    November Bandsters!

Karen, Thanks for your support. I am doing much better now, gas and few aches here there is it. (I am a bit concerned about slippage just due to all the previous heaving.:sick I THINK I am down about 11 pounds as of today. Have not figured out how to move my ticker?? I am eating soups and yogurts and few other very liquid mushies. I move to full mushies Wed. I have already found it I don't drink slowly I get a tightness in my chest. I walked today for the 1st time, it was nice to get out! I also have one shoulder that is sore because its the side that I have been sleeping on..I thought it was gas but don't think so now ..?? How are you doing? Do you still have all your tape on? One of mine came off in the shower today..?? Dpingl, I didn't have staples, so no tape! The surgeon used a type of glue that will wear off after awhile. It has been nice to not feel the "pull" of stitches/staples, or to deal with leakage. I know from experience how much better you will feel after the staples come out, so hang on until then! As for your shoulder, I had that for the first 4 days, now it is just a pain in the left side.... 11 pounds down??? WOW!!! Is that since your surgery or from the pre-op diet?? WAAHHHHHH :cry I want to have lost 11 pounds!!!!! Good for you! Karen

  25. We're leaving for a 7 day Alaskan cruise on Monday! Already have my snack bag packed for the 8 hr drive to Seattle (almonds, Cheerios, jerky and a cooler for yogurt and water). Our last 3 cruises, I was banded and never gained any weight. This time tho I'm totally unfilled (slipped last month, awaiting a revision to sleeve in late June) and I've gained a few lbs since being unfilled. I've noticed tho that my stomach hurts really bad for about 24 hrs and I have to be on liquids for 2-3 days when I overdo (like I did 1 day last week) so I'm hoping that will deter me from eating too much. Anyone who's been on a cruise probably know what I'm talking about! Access to food 24 hrs a day. I plan on going to the gym everyday tho! And walking around in all the ports. Hoping that I don't gain. If I come back to my drs appt on May 22nd without having gained 10 lbs since the last time I was at the drs a few months ago, I'll be happy! Being totally unfilled for months and having gained only 10 lbs is a feat in itself, I think! Wish me luck! Marci
