    UK Sleevers

This is going to sound so obvious it's stupid but please do try your best not to vomit AT ALL between now and your surgery date. If you have a slip and a lot of inflammation they may not be able to revise you to a sleeve at the same time as band removal. You need for all the swelling to go down in order to have a safe revision. Risks are already triple for a revision vs. if you never had a band. Swelling makes it much worse. Milk and yogurt? (eye roll)
  2. Sleeved 3/18/13 and allowed eggs yogurt refried beans cottage cheese and sf pudding. My diet was advanced to this at my one week postop checkup. The only thing I have eaten is cottage cheese and refried beans no more than 2 oz at a time. The thought of plain eggs makes me ill which is why I have not eaten them and I can barely stomach the sicky sweet protein drinks which is why I won't eat sf pudding either. I am so exited for my 3 month postop visit because I will be given more foods to eat.

    Torani Sugar Free Syrups

mainly for changing up the flavor of your protein shakes. but I've also seen some people mix a little into plain greek yogurt to give it some flavor (haven't tried it yet, but plan to). amazon has tons of flavors but I found them cheapest (and good price on shipping too) on a restaurant supply site called webstaurant.com . While the site is intended for restaurant supply they will ship to a residential address.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I've been living off beans and greek yogurt for the last 4 days and I need ideas for purees. What is this ricotta bake everyone is raving about? Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

    August rush 2010!!!

First off...Good Luck to all you that are going in this week for surgery. I went in for a post-op check today, and they did an unfill. Seems that not being able to "eat" yogurt and liquid Soup is not normal. I guess I'm having a duh moment. The unfill wasn't bad, and I go back on the 23rd for a fill. Get to start eating mushy foods today, and I can't wait to chow down on some tunafish. Never thought that tunafish would sound so good. I have lost 11 pounds in the last 2 weeks, so I'm not complaining.

    August rush 2010!!!

My name is Shawni and I am getting banded on August 27th. I am currently on the 14 day pre-op diet. It sucks but I am glad I have to do it. I am on all liquids (protein shakes, yogurts, puddings, oatmeal, applesause). That is it guys, all day the same thing, that is my biggest challenge. I so want food. I have read that the reason for this particular diet is to loose risidual fat around your liver, spleen, and stomach. It makes it easier for the surgeon to maneuver and it helps your body heal faster after surgery. I have to say that this diet has made me look at food differently. I appreciate it more. I am so excited to create new recipes that are full of flavor. I went to William Sonoma and bought a few things that will help me with makes yummy Soups that are not fattening and I am so excited to try them. I recommend that you buy what you need ahead of time, be ready for it. I would like some recommendations for Protein shakes though, I am getting tired of the same one every day. I am using the 100% whey Protein powder from GNC in Cookies and cream, chocolate, very berry, and banana. I mix the first two, they taste like chocolate milk together. I also mix the 2nd two and it is like drinking a strawberry banana smoothie. Looking forward to next Friday, Shawni:smile2:

    The Maintenance Thread

I am never going to be able to maintain my weight with the little I eat argghhh Today I've only had one yogurt, 3 wings, a packet of protein chips, and a packet of dried seaweed. My plastic surgeon saw me today and said I looked awesome and not *gaunt* like some bypass patients end up.... but I'm on that path. Making turkey brats w/ coleslaw for dinner. Yesterday I ate straight JUNK knowing I would get sick but it was a lot of calories and I felt desperate in the moment to "stop losing". I did get sick, not shockingly. I'm about to have my plastics so I have GOT to get the cals and protein up for recovery. Big unf. I tried eating some beef veggie soup my stepdad made that *gasp* had TINY cubes of potato in it and it made me sweaty and nauseous. Edit: Just reading the few above comments. I DO know my BMR and it's 1350 (give or take). Which is comical since I eat about 600-700 cals tops (and obviously a lot less today).

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I should stop stalking and check in.. 9wks down and i am down 60lbs total. I have the hardest time with chicken turkey and shrimp. One bite and im puking it up. sometimes 2 hours later. beef seems to be the easiest for me. I cant seem to find the right balance of protein/food or fluids. its always one or the other. I cant take any of the good multi vites because they make me throw up after chewing. Im currently taking vitamelts multi and trying to suppliment with Biotin and foods rich in b1. its been a struggle for me. I am a foodie. I cook and plan meals then after 1 bite i cant eat it. its kinda depressing. But.. then i look at the 60lb loss and i am happy about it. I can barely eat 2 oz of any solids. up to 6 if its a slider like yogurt or liquidy Soups. I am craving chicken wings soo bad so i have to try to find an alternate meat for them.. I will try rabbit and frog legs next weekend. Protein shakes have been hard.. i can still only tolerate Ohyeah ready to drinks and nectar fuzzy navel and twisted cherry.. no other flavors .. hope to get some more check ins.

You can transition to a a full liquid diet first (creamier soups, milk, yogurt, hot cereals, coffee, tea, juice, SF/FF ice cream, SF/FF puddings, etc) then proceed to the soft diet per your doctors instructions. Melissa Lea
  11. For me, it's aftertaste where my issue has been these last 7 weeks. I'm much more aware of aftertaste...like with different waters, etc. My tastes haven't changed otherwise, but I do find that while I adore Greek Yogurt, sometimes just the thought of yogurt now makes me go NOPE. Maybe it's the thicker texture, not sure. Hope that passes soon, miss having it.
  12. I've got my last 50 days worth of food on MFP. My diary should be public. I've logged in every single thing I've eaten, except for Vitamins (just started logging those). Typical day: Breakfast: Premier Protein shake 160 Lunch: some type of meat, usually chicken. I can only eat between 1-2 ounces of meat, on a good day. Then I get full. Dinner: same as lunch Snack: I was eating a snack of cheese, yogurt or something, but the past two weeks, food seems revolting. I got really sick feeling after swimming last week, so I've been drinking Gatorade to up my calories a little. I have not yet felt hungry.

    October 2018 Sleevers

Maybe not enough protein is the issue. I would follow what your surgeon recommends, they should have given you a very specific plan. Greek yogurt is good and has a lot of protein but the protein drinks are really the best way to get it in right now.

    Omg

Why aren't you eating solid foods for breakfast? Or at least mushies like Greek yogurt or oatmeal. Protein shakes are a slider, I would be hungry 5 min. Later and I'm at restriction. Also for me salad is a slider food. Are you eating 3 oz. Solid protein Lunch and dinner?

    1 cc removed

Well, glad you had the unfill. But, incase your surgeon's office did not say anything, you should stay on liquids for a day or 2 to let your stomach calm down. My surgeon recommends 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids after aboth a fill and unfill. Only one time did I break that rule, that was when I, also, had not had anything for a day. But, generally you need to let you swollen stomach relax. Take it easy!!!Karen PS:Even yogurt is hard to get to pass if you are swollen.

    Snack Ideas?

My doc suggests 3 meals and 2 snacks. I eat string cheese, a tablespoon of peanut butter(reduced fat), cottage cheese(for a change mix it with SF jello...it tastes like fruit/CC combo without the extra cals), yogurt, SF/FF pudding, half of a protein bar, 8 oz skim milk...

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

I've had a lot of challenges with the band, but I think I can offer you some support. I think what you are experiencing is normal. RIght after my surgery, I could not eat more than 1 6oz yogurt and it took me all day to eat it. I got through it by drinking apple juice mixed with water. By the end of my first month, I could eat exactly the same way I did pre-banded. I had no restriction at all after the swelling went down. I hope you start feeling better soon.

    1000-1200 Calorie Diet

I also use myfitnesspal.com . I keep my calories around 1100 per day and try to get as much protein in as I can. I start my day with a protein shake to which I add a banana, greek yogurt and frozen fruit. Fills me for a long time.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Silry, My stomach was gnawing and rumbling and so I went ahead and incorporated the sippable yogurt yesterday. Dr. Miranda said that this could be started as early as day 4. I did start feeling hungry again yesterday, but with three sips of the yogurt I felt full - AMAZING! Tomorrow will be the start of when I can do the Protein Shake and I am thankful for it! :biggrin1:

    July Bandsters....lets Here You....

I am so sorry to hear the fills have been such a struggle. I had my second one yesterday and it seems to be okay. But I am feeling like it is pretty tight. I couldn't even eat yogurt this morning. So i am back on the Protein Shakes (yum, I know!). I am trying some that are in the refrigerator section and have more calories. They are more expensive but are much better than what I had before and its only for two days. I lost 3 more lbs since my last fill three weeks ago. So getting close to the 20 lb mark. I also read a very inspirational book called Lapband and Laughter. The author went through all of the ups and downs of her 3 year experince. I would recommend it for anyone needing motivation. Here's the link: http://lapbandsandlaughter.com.au/ All the best, Melissa PS I am going to the Bahamas in January and think that is a good goal for a little more weight loss.
  21. It certainly seems slow to me! lol But the creamy soup is the only other liquid I can have. I can't have yogurt or anything else.

    calorie intake

I was banded on May 12th and the first 4 weeks I couldn't even eat what they said to eat because sometimes it was to much. My doctor says you should be eating about 800 calories. I have noticed this week that I am getting hungry between lunch and dinner. I am going for my first fill on June 27th and I am hoping that takes care of that. I have a Protein shake for Breakfast. Lunch I eat a slice of ham (2 oz) and a slice of cheese (1/2 oz) with 2 crackers, a quarter cup of yogurt and quarter cup of fruit, or 1/2 a cup of turkey chili with 2 crackers, dinner is usually 2 oz of fish or chicken, 1/2 cup of potatoe or Pasta and a vegetable.

Well, I hope I am back for good! My computer is up and running again. What a fiasco with Tech Support! Sugarbear: I had surgery the same day as you. You could have written my lapband story! As Pam said I ended up with hernia repair also. I had the same "gas" pains as you and in the same location. I kept denying they could be gas pains way up there! I talked to Pam and as she explained, they are not what we know as "normal" gas pains. It is much better now. I still don't have much of an appetite and I have to keep better track of what I am eating. I think I am missing the Protein intake by a bit. I am going to do better starting today. Dr. Pam says that protein is very important for me to heal. And...not to skimp on my pain meds. (Thanks Doc!) I have lost about 13 pounds since starting on the liquid before surgery. Sue in Russia, I have some protein stuff from Wal-Mart. It tastes cruddy with just Water. Yesterday I mixed it with skim supreme milk and a little crushed ice. I added about 1/2 tsp of Crystal Lite (strawberry kiwi this time), thru it in the blender, it was excellent. At least it will not go to waste and it has alot of Proteins per serving. I have been eating the Campbell's microwaveable Soups, yogurt, cream of rice, knox Jello bars, sugar free fudsicles. The soups I only eat about 1/2 serving and then refrigerate the rest for another meal. They are very soothing. Best wishes to all you already banded Marchers and for those of you coming up, we are watching for you and sending good wishes your way! Gail

I know TMI. But for everyone with a yeast infection, try douching with live yogurt as well, seriously!
  25. WOW...such varieties--I think I've figure out that its gas and surgery pains. I only wish I was burping more...then I might at least feel like the gas was escaping...my tummy is hard as a rock and bloated like crazy...more at times than at others. I've had no trouble walking--some pain when I first stand up but then it usually subsides. I take the liquid vicodin about twice a day rather than every 4 hours. I'm walking to mailbox several times per day and then went to WalMart and even Home Depot. Took Milk of Magnesia to get a BM going--wow...that worked...but still bloated. Never had shoulder pain--lots of back pain that same day of surgery, but after that, it's been okay...thankfully. HOT TEA is a GOD SEND to me!!!! Soothes heartburn, gas pains, aches, etc!!! EARL GREY with a touch of lemon is making me feel human again!!!!! Diet for Post Op weeks 1-3: Choose 2 oz. of cream of wheat, creamed Soup, pudding or yogurt for break, lunch and dinner. Throughout the day, try to get in 8 oz. of Protein drink. Also, can have 2 oz. of broth, tea, Water, coffee, crystal light, sf Jello, sf popsicles, etc. about 15 min after anything else. I'm definitely not starving...but geez, missing food at times :0( but I know I'm not doing all this for nothing!!!
