Gouhls and drools, I have been waiting for this thread for 10 months!!! Let's hear them! Mine are the shoes!!! No boot is too small (well almost)!!! -
Yay! That's awesome. I think that is NSV in my book. I agree with longer-life, I hope I have a moment like that.

I posted a new pic on Facebook yesterday. Within 30 minutes, my oldest son who is stationed at Camp Lejuene texted me with a picture that we took at the Tennessee Aquarium before he left for boot camp. He then said that he would 100% not be Able to recognize me and was proud of my accomplishments.

I think if you only set a goal of weight lost you could be disapointed. I thought I would loose about 100 pounds my first year, but that is not the track I am on. I am one of the slow loosers. I am coming to terms with that. But I am learning to measure my success in NSVs and not just pounds dropped. Also, you might put on muscle mass. Let's hope to the gods that you put on muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, it just takes up less room. So if you only "loose" 50 pounds by scale weight, but put on 25 pounds of muscle how would you feel? (I'm thinking you'd feel pretty terrific physicaly, but the head thing gets in the way.)

Question about Triglycerides
cajun replied to MINI-Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the NSVs that I will be glad to experience will be the ability to get a smaller car. I've been so big that I could only drive a big one, for comfort. A Cooper sounds nice...they are so cute. -

WAHOO! No seat belt extension needed!
IncredibleShrinkingMan replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Awesome news. I only absolutely needed it on certain occasions (freaking Delta and American), but for a period of time at 300+ it would always be offered, and I would proudly reject it even if it meant an arduous struggle to squeeze it until click (sounds like a weight loss tool onto itself). I've been on about five R/T flights since surgery (8 weeks out) and it looks like I have gotten the point where the flight attendant doesn't bother to ask. #NSV -
WAHOO! No seat belt extension needed!
gowalking replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The things we do to avoid difficult situations including missing out on so much of life. We turn a blind eye which is why we have so many great NSVs as we get back into the world. I for one, will never let this happen to me again. I lost years by being in pain and immobile. I wish I could get those years back but I know I can't. All I can do is try to make up for lost time. -

small nsv to some.... But a big one to me...
ProudGrammy replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ShrinkyDinkMe terrific, great feeling sat down at a booth one day, and almost fell because all of a sudden there was all this extra space. same happened at the movies!! NO such thing as a "small NSV" kudos -
I know so many of us are numbers focused, myself included but we should really look at NSVs and/or the bigger picture regarding quality of life. I say this because for two years now, I've been watching my weight go down and my clothing sizes go down as well and at so many times, the two do not match up as I expected. I've said before on other posts, that I had to lose an awful lot of weight just to go down one or two sizes from my inital starting point of 4X in tops and 26/28 in pants. Yet I've noted that over the last four months, I've dropped a total of ten lbs. That's roughly .6 lbs. a week. Not much, right? Yet....I have gone from a petite medium/large to petite small in tops and fit comfortably in a size 6 petite in slacks and possibly into size 4's depending on the manufacturer. I bought silk thermal leggings/tops last week because of the cold weather and I tried them on yesterday and the small fit with no problem...in fact, I might have been OK in the extra small (which is a size 2/4). All on ten pounds. So what I'm trying to get across here is that numbers are just that....numbers. It's the changes we've made. The healthier eating...the healthier we've become...more mobility, less co-morbidities, the more active we are in terms of exercise and socializing. The more comfortable we have become in the world. The more engaged we are with life. This is what is important to remember in our weight loss journey. We are so much more than our stats...and we have to remember that so as not to obsess over it. Have a great weekend everyone.

why am i not super excited!!!!
thsisme replied to bmendoRNurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
IT is scary, however, with that said, it is also an exciting time in your life and you are sensing the potential change and as humans, the majority of us hate change. The unknown and the so called "faiures" in the past are scary too! This is normal and you have to decide who is going to win the battle. Are you doing this for others or are you doing this for yourself? Perhaps you are doing it for both others and yourself. For once do place yourself in front and take a day at a time. As you lose, you will start to see and believe that you can do this. You will feel better, will look better, and will discover small joys that you have never thought of...the NSVs of life when losing weight. remeber this is a process and you are going to have to work the process for you to succeed anyone thinking differently is only fooling themselves. Remember too that there will be bad days, days of struggle, days of self doubt, days of frustration and perhaps disappointments. You have to be able to put them into perspective, lean on those that you can or find folks that you can count on...many do not have reliable support sources in their lives so they seek support on areas such as this one. Either way can work to let you know that you are not alone and that in and of itself can be comforting. We are here for you as we know you will be here for us! I wish you success, luck and the joys of being a bandster! -

How much did or are you eating at 3 weeks post op VSG? Tomorrow will be my 3 weeks post op. I’m curious if I’m eating too much (I can eat up to 4oz). The pictures attached are all the guidelines I was given and even on the example meal plan seems way too much. I wasn’t given a calorie goal or anything. My mom was curious on how I was doing so she had me go on the scale Thursday and I had gained 1.6lbs. I know it’s not much but because I’m only on week 3. I make my protein goal of 50-60 grams a day but I’m always short from my 64oz of water by 20oz. I been back to work for 4 days now and I make it a priority to walk home from work since I live not even a mile from my job. Some NSV I have had since surgery are that I can almost touch my thumb and middle finger together around my wrist, I can sit on a conference room chair comfortably without the arm rests going into the sides of my thighs (now it still does but not as much as it use to), I see my face slimmer and as well as my stomach, I can wear jackets I had to put in the back of my closet because my arms were too big and I couldn’t zip them up.
-
Today is (hopefully) a banner day. 3.5 months after surgery, I spent the night culling my closet and have three full clothes hampers worth of casual and work clothing to donate to Good Will. Went from 3x and 4x shirts down to XL (so far) and 48/50 pants down to a 42. That, I think, quantifies this as a personal NSV, and makes the whole experience worth it. How did you feel when you got to that point? Wayne
-
Yes I have felt this way but I am much older and have only been banded for 2 months...what i do is kick up and change up the exercise. I have also resorted back to the preop diet or some version of it and even added calories some days just to change things up...I come on this site for support, remember my NSVs, and value my 31 lb loss that i know would not be possible without my band! Hang in there...there will be plenty more ups and downs! How long have you been banded?

@@Shell Renewed it can be hard to eat correctly/wisely away from home this is your first "test" do YOUR best for now, that's what matters "hope for the best, expect the worst" losing 24 lbs NSV's with the flight sitting more comfortably dinner tray seat belt more energy both airplane ride, and your new life up up and away good luck kathy congrats -
I know this will not sound very importamt to a lot of you but it is big for me. I can now fit in a booth at restaurants and do not have to sit at a table. I hated always asking for a table because I could not fit in a booth. I have specifically asked for a booth for the last two weeks when we go out and it is fantastic. I will never sit at a table again if I have a choice.

Yahoo for you! I too have had the same NSV, not only do I fit but the wifey can snuggle up to me on the same side too with room to spare! Dontcha-love it?
