I am in the same boat. I'm three weeks out tomorrow. I lost 15 pounds pre-op, another 10 in the first week and a half, and I've been gaining and losing the next 3 ever since. I haven't even moved on from strained liquids yet- not til tomorrow, so I know it's not over eating. I struggle with the Protein (mixed without ice or anything - too thick per Dr. - I can barely tolerated any I've tried). I'm about to think I'm going to be that 1% who never loses more than 20-25 lbs no matter what they do!

I am so frustrated with this very slow weight loss. I am 3 weeks post op. I lost 12 lbs the first week, nothing the second week, and gained 3 lbs the third week (have done nothing different other than move to purees, and very little of it at that). I am going to be more diligent about getting in enough protein and water, but I am doing pretty well. Did anyone else have a slow start to their weight loss journey? I am super concerned that this is a bad sign for what to expect in the future. I am hoping that my body is just freaking out right now, and will get in "the zone" soon.

Congrats serna6! My surgery in on the 31st of March! I think waiting these last two weeks out is going to be the hardest! I'm excited! Like you, my mom is super supportive. She's seen me struggle throughout the years, and just wants me to be happy and healthy!

I don't remember the skin around the glue being red just iodine discoloration. My glue started peeling after about a week. It was totally gone after about 3 weeks. It definitely got itchy. It also pinched me for a few days when the swelling went down. If it's really really itchy and red you may want to call your doctor to confirm you aren't having a reaction.

My surgery was April 20th (wow, 4 weeks tomorrow). I understand being tired the first 2 weeks....but now that I'm eating food...well, the "soft food" stage.... I didn't expect to still feel so tired. Has anyone experienced exhaustion? I sleep w/ my cpap mask on like I'm supposed to. I take iron and get my protein in. I exercise ( I even backed off on how much thinking my body couldn't handle it). I don't understand why even when I get a full 6 hours of undisturbed sleep... after I drop the kids off I come home and sleep for another 3 to 4 hours! Anyone else feel tired ALL the time????

Question about protein & allergic reaction
heatherv posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone! I'm getting the band next week and have been trying Protein shakes to get used to them. Has anyone ever been allergic to the powder? I had a funny skin reaction over the weekend and it lasted a few days. I narrowed it down to a few things but one of the things new was the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein Powder. I didn't have one yesterday or today and my skin is getting better but I'm afraid to try it again to see if it was the protein! LOL  Any suggestions? -
I am 6 months post-op and a couple of weeks ago I got the stomach flu which of course lead to a lot of vomiting. I thought that the band might have slipped. tho I started eating more than I use to after I got healed. But now I feel extreme tightness where it is really hard to eat anything. Why all the sudden ? Is this normal ? Because I was thinking about the fill but now ..

Post op diet plans
Belladoll24 replied to 1poundatatime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 18 days post-op and these are my orders: Day 1-2 (in hospital) clear fluids Days 3-9: full liquids Days 10-16: puréed foods Days 17-30 soft foods Day 31 solid foods. When I went for my post op appointment at day 16, my doctor said I can pretty much eat anything, starting off with softer foods, take very small bites at first. Especially smaller bites for meat, and chew, chew, chew, chew. He did say to stay away from hard to digest foods a little while longer, like asparagus, celery, and nuts. I am going slowly, one new food at a time. -
I have decided to treat this birthday as most people would treat new years, time to make a resolution to myself. I have never been one to go along with the crowd, so on Jan. 1 when everyone else is doing their new years resolutions I will be at goal! Afterall, my birthday is the beginning of a whole new year for me, right? Okay, so I am 20 lbs from goal, and I am just screwing around. I can't seem to get my shit together and finish this thing. I don't think I am afraid being at goal, I just think I am a lazy ass who can't do what it takes to be successful. I have not exercised in a week, and my eating is out of control. I gotta do this, I cant come this far and leave it here with 20 lbs to go, I just cant. I have got to let the fat girl go once and for all, and get to the healthy, slim girl that I have been working so hard these last 9 months to become. To let all that hard work go just because I am struggling would be a crime. I have accomplished so much in these last months, I have lost over 50 lbs., I have become a RUNNER damn it! I RAN a frickin' 5k. I don't want to go back to being tired all the time and feeling shitty all the time. I want to be fit, I want to be thin, I want to wear a goshdamn size 6! I can can can do this! Hell with it, I am not waiting till tomorrow to start, I am starting now. NOW! I am committing to myself and whoever else has the patience to read this that I will get up at 5am and run for 30 minutes. Not walk, RUN! Cya tomorrow, will report on how things are going, its gonna be okay, I CAN DO THIS!!! T:tt1:

I had the same after a day or two . . . and I generally felt exhausted. However, within a week I was feeling pretty normal again with just a little soreness. It passes quickly . . . just make sure you get as much rest as you can, get in as much fluids and proteins as you can and take it easy.

4 days post-op from Mexico and I feel amazing!
flowers replied to Wendy B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made the mistake of paying to reschedule my flight to come home the next day after late afternoon surgery, did not stay the extra day in the hotel. They were going to the airport, so I went hoping to bump up to a earlier flight, didnt happen, so I sat there for another 4 hours, exhausted and hungry and nothing in the airport I could eat or drink except Water. They made me take off my shoes, and getting them back on was no cinch, and twice I dropped paper on the floor I had to ask a stranger to help me pick up. I only brought a shoulder bag, should have brought something on wheels. I had trouble finding the shuttle for my car later that night and walked back and forth 3 times between the parking garage and the airport before I found a way to get down to where I needed to be ... finally. It wasnt easy. Stay the extra night, even if you feel ok the next day, you need to rest. I tend to bite off more than I can chew too often. I have to laugh, got on the plane finally and saw a seat in the front row. duuh, didnt notice the lady by the window was everybit as big as me, or bigger, boy was that a tight fit, sat there with my elbows hugging myself all the way home. Once I sat down and realized it was a problem, I was too embarrassed to get back up and find another seat further back. It can be done, hahhahahahaha, but you might have to put forth a little extra effort. Have all the food you need ready when you come home. duuh on me again, I had to stop at krogers on the way home for broth. -
My largest incision has been the one the bugged from day one. The doc says there is a deep stitch in that one. I had been fine for about a week now, and then tonight I went to get up and it was sore again. I think it is the due to increased activity.

Congratulations on your date. How do I see your video? I've had my surgery 10/3/16, still in recovering mold. I've never searched out YouTube For WLS i think I will take a look. See you on the other side. Congratulations. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Not sure if it is normal but I had similar pain for the first couple of weeks - I was always quite sore in the morning and I figured that I had probably moved around in my sleep more than I realised. Took me a good 4-6 weeks before the pains stopped. Even now and then I get pains if I stretch too hard or do too much lifting. Overall though things are good and my doctor thinks everything is fine. Give it a bit of time - two weeks post op I felt quite normal again but it was a real effort up to that point.

I think it's a pretty common struggle after surgery trying to get water down. The SF popsicles helped to get my water in for the first two or three weeks after surgery. I think the cold helped with the internal swelling as well.

Zumba does look like fun. I see the infomercial all the time and I want it bad! I am trying to talk myself into going to a classto try it out but I don't want to go by myself. Maybe I'll try an early morning class once my daughter starts school next week. Does anyone know how much the class cost?
-
I tried my first Zumba class. I got my 7 day trial pass at Bally and they offer the class three times a week. Their classes are free with membership. Once I get paid I'll pay a flat fee of $250 for one year's membership, then I can take all the Zumba I want, all over the country, with free child care. (There's typically not a year commitment, but figure for me I'll have to make the committment.) I'm so excited. It's much cheaper taking it through Bally then with the community center or taking Jazzercise (which I also love). I've also been using all their other equipment in addition to Zumba. Zumba really is a fun class!!! I feel great afterwards! I'm so glad that I found it, and for such a reasonable price and free child care!!!

I just had my psych evaluation a few weeks ago. It was two seperate days & very easy. First day was just talking to the doctor about my weight loss past. I came very prepared & had all records written down & copied for her. She really appreciated this. The second day was a test that took about 3 1/2 hours answering t or f questions. Its to test if you have any serious psych problems or behavioral problems that may make you unsuitable for a surgery like this one. It was very easy & all you do is answer honestly. PAY ATTENTION to all the questions. they are very repetitve( some very silly) & this is done to make sure you are reading every question & not just filling in t or f for all of them. That is what mine was like I do ot know if they're all the same. I have Blue Cross network & this was standard for them. I was told I passed the very next day. Good luck to you- you'll do just fine.

Hi! I am new to the forum- a 30 y/o female that had surgery one month ago. I’ve been starving the whole time even though I’ve been on soft solids for two weeks. im eating 1000 calories a day....I just ate a whole protein bar without feeling full!!! It’s freaking me out. A lot of people say they can barely eat two bites of anything at this stage. Did anyone else eat this much early on? My nutritionist said try to stick to 800 calories.....I just thought it would be easier! Is it normal to be this hungry and able to eat larger amounts 1 month PO??

Well it has been 3 days since my surgery on Wednesday. Not too bad pain wise. Was just nauseas the next day, but really just sore near my ribs. A little hungry though. Other than that surgery went well.

Hi there! I’m 7 weeks post op sleeve and I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time. I am still getting quite a bit of daily nausea and discomfort when eating no matter how little or slow I eat. Has anyone had a similar experience and when did it get better? Thank you!

I haven't been to my local bariatric office for two years, but decided to tuck my tail and go back considering I've gained 30 lbs since I was there last. The nurse took the saline out of my band to make sure I had all 3 cc in my band that we had when I last saw her and she was only able to get 1 1/2 cc, then she had me stand to see if it was positional....she only got two total. SMH. She's trying to figure out if my band is leaking or if she miscalculated last time I was there. I really hope that she didn't take proper notes, I'll be devastated if my band is broken.
