    Relief for fullness

Slow it waaaaaaaaay down. You could try to take a bite or two, put your fork down, wait 10 minutes. If after the 10 minutes you feel any fullness/tightness in your your stomach or chest, wait another 10 minutes, if not, take another one or two bites. Rise and repeat until you finish your pre-portioned out meal OR when 20 minutes have gone by and you still have fullness/tightness, whichever comes first. I know this sounds tedious, but it may help you avoid the pain of overeating, and allow you to learn your body's new tolerance levels. Hopefully, once you get to know your cues and limits, you will be better able to navigate at a higher speed limit. P.S. It still takes me a relatively long time to eat my meals at 8 months out. I learned that my stomach seems to fill up on smallish amounts of food, so I need to wait for it to digest or whatever before I put more in it. If I don't, I will start to hurt and possibly barf. And I hate hurting and barfing, so I do what I can to avoid it....i.e., eating slowly.
  4. Does anyone have a September date? I am hopeful to have surgery in September. Revision from an experimental transoral surgery to DS.
  5. It’s been exactly 3 weeks since I had the gastric sleeve surgery and I’m really having difficulty adjusting to my new stomach! Specifically, I am having difficulty gauging when I’m full. I’m just starting the puréed stage and I will feel fine when I eat a few spoonfuls of food and then I will feel terribly full and it is so uncomfortable! Oddly, I can drink a protein shake (10 oz.) or eat yogurt (8 oz) and I feel fine. When I try to eat puréed meat and vegetables, some how I eat too much. Do I really have to count how many spoonfuls I can eat? Most importantly is there anything that I can do to get relief from that horrible fullness feeling? I have heard other people say that their body gives them a sign when they are full but my body keeps fooling me? I’m so frustrated and starting to dread even having this procedure!

i am almost similar to you but 10 days out i still feel stomach pain i can't stand the foods i am eating uh ....
  8. And I concur with my Bari- Bud AZhiker above. Almost identical except for being 10 years older and retaining my uterus, not that it did me THAT MUCH GOOD! Have had a couple surgeon's incredulous acts. One told his understudy doctor" I can't believe she is this obese and still gynecologically intact!" made me feel Dirty for retaining my innards. Needless to say I did not elect him Surgeon of the Year nor did I allow HIM to operate on ME! Stupid Excuse for a Doctor, let alone a surgeon. Didn't have to love him. but I couldn't even respect him or his advice! So I had the same pre- problems as AZ with a slight helping of people telling me YOU'RE GOUNG TO DIE ON THE TABLE, obviously I didn't, lived to be 99% happy with my surgery. Would be 100% but I have some issues, even after 9 months, that have not resolved. Would I do it again, knowing that I would not heal quickly and perfectly, Oh Yeah! Even with the blips, twists and turns, and all , it is More Than Worth It. Beats being crippled, sad, short of breath and defeated every day from continuing to live when I would be better off dead and only in people's memory. Now I do have a chance to live, to have a future even if I don't know daily how each day will be, I'm still going to find out, put a positive spin on it and LIVE BABY LIVE! And if I encourage others to stick it out until things get better, then I AM IF VALUE and I'll be encouraged too!

    June 2019 challenge

“I will not do burpees, I will not do burpees.....” Okay, so I did 10 of them. Now I’m slightly nauseated because I haven’t had breakfast yet and my morning coffee was sloshing around in my stomach. 🤣🤣 Will have to think hard on the side question. Right now I’m having difficulties coming up with something.

14 months out - Just a quick update.

So I just scheduled my first consultation for an arm lift, woo hoo! I have no idea what they cost and I am not traveling out of the country for it, so I will probably have to save for a good while, but at least I will know whether I am a good candidate and the price. My arms are the only part of me that needs some "professional" help, in my opinion. I have a bit of an issue with my upper thighs, but it is something that only I notice and not noticeable to others, even in shorts. I would love a bigger chest, but I am not willing to pay for it, haha. Luckily, my chest has only gotten smaller, but I don't have any issues with extra skin in that area. Considering I am between an A and B cup (yes, you read that right, a 39-year old that could wear a training bra, LoL) I don't think I have to worry about extra skin even if I lose another 10 pounds.
  11. I was on full liquids the first 10 days cream of wheat, yogurt, creamed soups, smoothies, oatmeal, ect. Then soft foods scrambled eggs, beans, cheese, grits. Drs. guidelines vary so much that first month. Good luck to you

    Getting so nervous.

pretty normal fear. But rest assured that many of us never have complications, and of those who do, the vast majority were minor. Vitamin deficiencies are rare as long as you keep on top of your vitamins. As far as not being able to treat certain diseases, I haven't really heard of this. These surgeries are so commonplace now that they can probably find an alternative treatment if in fact this ever even came up. I knew I was at much worse risk staying at 300+ lbs. I probably would have been dead in 10 years. No more! I feel great!!! I'd do this again in a heartbeat!

Thank you for the kind words. I thought people were going to crucify me for being so close to surgery. I am doing this and I am not going to cheat again. Surgery is 10 days away. Wow

    February 2019 weight loss buds

CPAP users: Since my surgery, I've been waking up with an extremely dry mouth, despite how much water I drink. I've been using a CPAP for about 10 years and I've never had this prior to surgery. Anyone else waking up to a super dry mouth? If so, have you done anything to change this so that it no longer occurs?

    June 2019 challenge

6/19 & 6/20: Forgive someone... Hmmm maybe 😂 I just can't think of anyone right now Declutter the physical... Well my place is pretty clutter free but the laundry is being done today. Specifically my comforter which is white (Don't judge me 😭) so I'm bleaching it twice and drying it. Sigh. It's a lot of work for an aesthetic 😳.

    Just sleeved 6-17-19!!

Hmmm, my experience has been totally different. I barely have had any pain, and drinking liquids has been just fine for me. I am starting to worry maybe my sleeve is not small enough or tight enough. I only had a some pain the first 2 days, by the 3rd day I was at the circus with my family in Mexico. Well I did have a lot of inflammation at the area where the fundus is in the stomach, so they gave me a steroid shot twice, once on the 2nd day post op and another one on the 4 th post OP day, maybe that's what speed up my recovery. As far as drinking enough liquids, I recommend keeping vitamin water zero or powerade zero next to you at all times and just taking a few sips every 5 to 10 min. This method helped me a lot to get 64 fl oz in a day. I really wanted to do my surgery back here in LA, but health insurance would not cover my surgery because I was not fat enough for them yet. Anyway I am so happy I found you, since we almost got out surgeries around the same time, we can compare our progress together. [emoji173] I hope and pray this works for both of us. Food help!

In my case, I firmly believe the Omeprazole therapy, in my case it IS NOT GASTROPROTECTIVE! Told them so before surgery , did they listen? Nope, just like spitting into the wind, not a satisfying conclusion! Both my Grandfather and my late husband's Grandfather had the same motto, 2 different languages, but exactly same meaning THEM WHO DON'T LISTEN, GOT TO FEEL! The difference- they didn't listen, I was the one having to feel the pain. And , oh yes, it does hurt! Spasms and when not actively spasming , an abiding ache, internally where you cannot rub it to make it better! Soups, vary the broth , vary the tastes if you can, season it a little if your tummy tolerates. Can't find. a taste you enjoy in commercial soups, construct and blend your own. Had 3 months of TPN myself, November 2018 through February 2019. Never been able to turn my back on Protein shakes, find a taste you like, I do Strawberry Ensure High Protein, the one with only 160 calories. Go back to plain broths if necessary, found after 9 months of Monkey- doodling I am beginning to loathe chick broths, so I do need or Wal-Mart Vegetable , not that expensive. I enrich all things not protein high with Genepro powder, not necessarily the best but I got a very good deal on it, had a coupon for it and Body Fortress both. And I'm almost always around here, 9 and 1/2months, lost 120+ pounds since surgery, story still being told, not sure what next chapters are going to be like, but I hold out optimism!

    Anyone else not losing?

The doctor explained that I would lose weight like the "stairs", instead of the "slide". It's not going to be smooth sailing all the way down. Our body will lose the weight but we must give it chance to regroup and refit our skins. My surgery was in Feb 2019. My slowest progress so far was on my 3rd month (May). Once June came around, my progress increased again. Good job exercising everyday. Congratulations on losing 55 lbs. I recently lifted a 10 pound potato sack and it was "HEAVY"... So 55 is a lot! Awesome job! Hang in there friend. We'll be skinny someday....soooon!

    Reactive hypoglycemia

I too am experiencing severe episodes of reactive hypoglycemia. I’ve been hospitalized 3 times in the last 2 months. My sugar drops rapidly. It’ll go from 60 to 37 in minutes. Assigned to an endocrinologist team my last hospitalization and have now been prescribed Acarbose & a told to eat 6 small meals, high protein some fat & no more than 30 grams of carbs each meal. Just started med yesterday and concentrating very hard on following diet. It’s basically the keto & I could stand to loose about 10-15 lbs so I’m eager to try this. I’m wearing a freestyle glucosemeter (no pricking) to help track sugar & bump it up before I start feeling the symptoms. I’m also carrying glucose tablets to bump it up quickly. I have an appointment next week with endo to discuss progress & decide if anything additional or different needs to be done. I pray that something can be done because living with this has turned my life upside down. I’m afraid to drive long distances; lots of confusion; no interest in usual activities and also depression has set in. I feel awful that I’ve put my family through this worry simply because I chose to have the surgery. But I would have it all over again if given the choice of being very unhealthy & obese and my life as it is now. I just have to remember that and I’ll get through this! Sorry for being long winded. I just felt if anyone would understand my feelings it would be my fellow bypass friends. Take care, I’ll keep all posted as I go thru this. 😊

To Tell or NOT to Tell

And a Big Thumb-up👍for HIM, he is obviously the" Best of Breed" in the In Law Family. My late husband's family their pet phrase was " _____is so pretty in the face" like the rest of their body was a big black trash bag and not to be thought of.. Always bummed me out, I was close to 200 when I married into that family, got to a high of 365+ but after 9 months I'm back down below 200, they cannot see ME now because I outlived THEM ALL!✌😝
