    Help!

It's been since about week 3 roughly. Meats are particularly gross smelling and I'm struggling to eat a reasonable amount of anything. I know it's hormonal but I just want to know if things will get easier. X Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Help!

Thank you for responding [emoji4]. I have spoken to my doctor and he said that I've obviously responded extremely well to the surgery!! I have to wait until next week to speak to my nutritionist. I'm really hoping that it will go away. Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Marijuana Use and Nausea

Why stop at a week? Keep going! I agree, drugs are a bad idea post weight loss surgery 😊

Hummm. Never heard of that. I don’t recall how many weeks I was when I was on purées though. Could’ve been around the same time frame.

I can’t have the sauce until week 8 🙄 the dietician won’t approve Alfredo substitute either. So I wait. It’s literally saved in my phone for when I can have it 👌
  6. I had gastric bypass in Oct 2019, within the last 6 months (or so), I have been vaping THC pretty regularly. Slowly, I've had nausea feelings everyday. Some days worse than others (like today). At first I thought I'll just vape some more and this will take care of my nausea (like cancer patients will do for pain and nausea). Well, the nausea seems to be getting worse and I think there is a connection (duh). Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if THC is NOT a good thing for bariatric patients? I'm going to stop for a week and see what happens. I'll keep you updated. Stewy56

I only like mahi too. Funny thing is I used to have to make myself eat it once a week but post surgery I like it a lot more. Sorta makes me wonder if I should try other fish again.

I’m three days away from surgery and I’m so nauseous from protein shakes and broth. I’ve been doing the liver shrinking diet since May 1st and I’m just over this. I don’t even want to drink anything but water.

    Help!

Hi Everyone [emoji3059] I really need some help and reassurance please. I had surgery March 24th and have since struggled. Foods taste and smell awful, I now hate meat because the smell is so revolting. I'm struggling to eat anything. Will this change? Why does everything smell so repulsive? Will my taste return to normal? I'm now 7 weeks out and feeling quite low. Hope you can help x Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2022 surgery?

Wasn’t the first bite of beans the best thing ever? My surgery was 5/2 and now I’m having dreams of the purée stage, which comes next week. Lol
  11. When i first started, i said I wouldn’t buy any new clothes until i was done with weight loss. It helped that I am/was a low-key-hoarder of clothes so i had a whole closet full of “skinny” clothes I could shrink into. BUT…when those clothes ran out (or just looked dated to me), i was all, eff this, im buying some new clothes that dont hang of me cuz i wanna look good. Yes, i spent on items that I would only wear for 2-3 weeks, but I looked GOOOOOD those 2-3 weeks wearing it! Lol My one really big ticket item i splurged on was plastic surgery (which i got about 14 months post op). BEST. PRESENT. EVER. If i may be so bold to suggest, if you are gonna spend enough to purchase leather goods at the price tag of a small car anyway, maybe considering plastics instead. Its the gift that keeps on giving! (or do both!)

Its nice but BOORRRRINNGGGG! lmao. Its been like 3 weeks now without me having anything to do. before surgery i would spend most of my day out on the water on my jetski to keep busy. but still waiting for my incisions to fully heal before i go out in that water. Its not the cleanest water out there lol

    Hunger hormones

I would call. If you haven’t had any struggles on the liquid phase perhaps they will add a purée phase between the two. Most of us have a purée phase anyways. Or, like I suggested before maybe they will at least let you have another protein shake. The extra protein shake should help without technically advancing your diet. They do fill you up for a good 3-5 hours. I know because even at a year out I still have one everyday for breakfast and depending on when I wake up it keeps me full till noon. I would choose food instead if it didn’t keep me full. But just three a day it may not keep you full long enough. If that makes sense.

I'm in pre-op still. I don't officially start pre-op until 6/1, but have essentially been eating similar to the post-op meal plan for the last two weeks. I'm down about 17lbs. I'd love to lose another 20-30 before surgery, but it's hot as snot here and makes working out miserable. (Florida) How are you doing?

30 minutes a week? That must be nice...

    The perfect size pan

oh yea i understand that. i have worked from home for years and my job requires maybe 30 minutes a week so i have tons of free time on my hands. I go to the grocery store probably twice a week lol.

    May Surgeries - check in!

ONE YEAR LATER… my surgery for gastric sleeve was on May 26, 2021… I have lost 90 pounds and still hope to lose about 20 pounds but I feel great. I started at 268 and wearing 2xl and size 20 pants and XL tops. They were all snug. I am now wearing 12-14 (size L) bottoms and M tops. I carry most of my weight from the waist down. My surgery and recovery was not bad at all. I immediately began walking and am back up to walking/jogging 3-4 miles several times a week. I also do reformer Pilates four times a week. That has been a game changer for me. I have had NO reflux and no other issues since surgery. For that I am most thankful. I don’t get hungry and minimal cravings. I don’t really eat a lot of dairy since surgery. It may be the only adverse outcome from surgery. I am looking forward to the warmer months so I can benefit from the fresh fruit and veggies that are available. This surgery was a game changer for me. I am so glad I did it and am thankful for my surgical team and my husband for his amazing support. I am considering doing some skin removal but maybe not for another year to see where we are then. The first photo is from the first day of my two week liquid diet before surgery and a photo taken last month. The other four are a series of photos one of my coworkers took over the past year - date stamped. Wishing all of you a happy 1 year anniversary! Hope we can all continue to give as many success stories a year from now!!!

    The perfect size pan

I just never learned how to cook one portion, plus I'm traveling most days for work, so I'd have to go buy groceries every week for the one day a week I'm home, and it's hard to do that. Buying and cooking once a month is much easier.

    May Surgery Buddies

Fingers crossed for you, Merill. I hope the numbers stay low or go away altogether and you get the procedure. You made me laugh 😂🤣😂🤣…I go to the beach for two hours and I bring the same amount of stuff as if I was going for a week. My stuff is my stuff. Keep me posted!

    So I did a thing...

I called my surgeon's office today and asked if it was ok to try a little bit of mushy food, just to see how my stomach handles it. They said yes, but to go slow. So I did tonight when I started to really feel hungry. I had 1 tsp of classic hummus and it was GLORIOUS!!!!!!! The taste was amazing (more intense than I remember) and best of all, NO PAIN!!!!! I stopped at 1 tsp because I didn't want to push it. And I was actually full!!!! From a teaspoon of hummus!!!! It was so cool!!!!! My head immediately went to "omg that tastes soooo goood, eat more more more!!!" but I didn't. I recognized that for what it was, and I got to have a taste and feel full, and such a small amount was all I needed. I happily put it down, and now I'm here sated, very comfortably not hungry, and so excited that my stomach isn't going to give me trouble with this next step. I'm going to stick with my shake in the morning, my protein waters in the afternoon, but I'm definitely having hummus at night (which is when I'm the most hungry). I'll bump it up once I officially hit the 2 week mark. I want to go slow with my stomach and not push it. I just can't believe it went so well!!!!! And took such a small amount of food!!!!!!! This is so cool

    Vitamin patches

I did for the first 2 weeks after surgery. Every doctor, nutritionist i have spoken to say they dont work. Even my own nutritionist was against me doing it but i did for a couple weeks until i was on soft foods. If you cant remember. Set a alarm on your phone. There are free apps that are pill reminders. need to get use to it because the vitamins are life long.
  22. Dinner-super juicy and good. (Home cooked on the grill in the backyard) Cheeseburger w lettuce/tomato I had three fries. (Not pictured), also dipped in ketchup. Best part-on paper plates so no dishes!!
  23. “Poolside” pork dumplings. Someone posted “poolside nachos” a while back and i’ve been waiting for weeks to follow suit! (The weather has finally co-operated!) I started off with 2, but ended up eating 4 (plus 2 espresso martinis) by the end of the afternoon. 364 calories.
  24. I had the same thing. Well I had a two week reduced carb/sugar diet and then one day of liquids. I didn’t realize till I got talking on here how lucky I was cause I thought mine was tough enough. I still say it was the worst part of the whole process for me.

    May Surgery Buddies

My stay is three nights. I am in mexicali Mexico. Mine is a revision . After surgery in the past the sore thoat was really bad. We drove almost 4 hours to the border. Left our car on the US side and was picked up. Since we have been here before checking the hospital out I am not as nervous as I thought.
