  1. Yep Riley good stuff. One reason I am trying to step back and not focus so much on the darn scale it becomes an unhealthy obsession for me. I want to lose still but not by worrying so much about how fast. I had a good talk with Robin this week. And told her EVERYTHING and she agreed with me some of my weight gain is the band is to loose. But they don't want me in the ER again so I told her they have to be ok with me going slow.. Cause when I am hungry I am gonna eat. Something good but I am gonna eat. I didn't do this to be miserable all the time. I told her I am thinking the band was not a good choice for me and about the sleeve. They still want me to try which I knew they would. LOL. I just told her I won't eat meat even if that means I fail and she understands and I told her I was frustrated. Anyway same stuff I tell you guys...... I told her some about the whole journaling with feelings and she liked that. I gave you alot of credit Riley Jane~~Or course she won't admit she knows you :-) Anyway she said I was doing everything right and she will talke to Dr. Baggs about what they can do.........ya no fill but like WHEN and how fast can I get fills............so I am going to see Dr. Baggs so we can figure out what to do from here. But ya I guess my appointments weren't cancelled I guess they wanted to check in with me before they cancelled which I didn't know and probably won't have agreed to. I am not one to hide things though. I say the truth the good, bad and ugly. Once they get me on the phone I put it all out there. First words of my mouth were I am fed up with the whole thing and not sure I wanna schedule fills until I can think about what is the utlimate goal here for us as a team....... Ok, ok.......probably way to much of my mouth but that is me. I probably didn't need to be on the phone with anyone that day!!! Tamra whats yor date???
  2. Dr Oz says wellbutrin is suppose to address head hunger. But Celexa has a good rep for no weight gain..........ah yea right if you have restriction!! :-P

    Listening to your INNER Voices

Tonight is the health and wellness class that I teach, and the Subject is"Listening to your Inner Voices" Good and evil, the voices do speak to us every day, when we listen, we hear both, it is what we do, the decision we make that gets us where we are going. Listen to your Inner Voices, learn to "Talk Back" to them, put them in their place! The voices always come to me before making good food choices. I always want the high calorie choices, it is only natural since those foods taste sinfully delicious. But what a poor result, a weight gain, not a weight loss. What do we want? LOSS So listen to your inner voices and have victory over them.:w00t:

  5. Hello everyone. I got sleeved on Dec 21 and in about 10 days lost over 20 pounds. But now stalling and gained 8 lbs. So from 264 I went down to 242 and am now at 251. Am on very low carbs, 80 gms protien, about 800 calories per day. Walk for over a mile a day. Am feeling very depressed since the weight gain. Hope the stall is normal. I do want to lose weight !
  6. 4x4 and jen boy can I relate to you guys! I was banded 11/25 and got my first fill last Monday and my second fill today (Monday). After the firt fill I felt NOTHING could eat a big ol steak and no problems. Today I got some more so mow I have a bit more hope. My bit of good news was that I weighed the same at the docs today as I did last week! Thank GOD I was so embarrased to go back with weight gain so maybe it was water??? Now I hope I have a bit more of an edge to get the weight loss going again. How are the rest of the November bunch?? Everyone has been so quiet! I miss yall!

Tina & Pammie - I've been on wellbutrin for a year now and let me assure you - it has NOT helped me with any head hunger or weight loss - however I have Zero side effects and I no longer cry LOL. I take 2 x 100mg pills in the morning. They are the sustained release and before you all yell at me - Doc Who said There was no problem with me taking the SR version with the band. I switched to the regular ones after surgery and had to take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening but I found that they didn't work so well - I was getting my headaches back more freequently and they they kind of keep you awake when you take it too late. So, I got the ok to go back on the SR version. The reason I started off with them is because my PCP said it had the least chance of weight gain as a side effect. All anti depressants are "blockers" so that is why they slow down the weight loss process - because the "block" the hormone that tells your brain to burn cals. I think with this one, though, it amps you up a bit in the beginnig so that you are in such a good mood that you don't eat as much - just my opinion but I'd LOVE to hear what Dr. Oz said about it. Got an appointment with unemployment tomorrow - UGH!

    New day New me

So for those of you who dont know i had lapband two years ago. At first i did well but for many reasons i relapsed into my emotional eating habit not too many months after having the procedure. Now after two years of more weight gain and much regret i am finally ready to give myself another chance at a better future. Im ashamed that I allowed myself to continue to gain weight after having weight loss surgery but i have to let go of all the regret. I have decided after many encouraging words i received on this site last night to begin my journey again. I ask that everyone please help me with this, for i know that starting over can be difficult. I am ready to begin a healthy lifestyle so i can have a better way of life. i no longer am doing this for my family who for years have made me feel so bad about myself for being the "fat one". This is a new day and a new me and I hope everyone on here will help provide me strength and power to finally end my bad eating habits and finally start the life I have always wanted and the life I was meant to have. thanks h

    2010 Shamrocks Weight Challenge

This is just what I needed I'm 2 years out and down 150lbs had an unfill in sept. and gained for the first time it was scary. I had gained 14lbs in 6 weeks got a fill in Oct. when back in Dec. I was the same weight as Oct. no weight gain since than I have lost 12lbs almost back I'm 25lbs from my goal and when I get near to it I get so scared I start to stress eat. I must get over the fear of winning this race. I have never dreamed that I would be able to wear zip up boots to my knee my legs have always been to big for tall boots. I need help to get over this hill so here goes the numbers:thumbup:. I not sure how to set it up please show me how Thank Ladyroz:rolleyes2:
  12. Hi everyone, new here to the forum! i have been lurking for awhile and have decided to get started in the process of getting banded. i have been overweight practically my entire life. everyone would always tell me, "well you're tall" or "you're have a bigger build" and i always felt fat. now at 27, i am the most i've ever weighed! i was always an active person, but the weight just kept coming back plus some. now i have three herniated discs and knee problems which make it hard to stay as active as i was once. i have to take meds for my bi-polar disorder for the rest of my life. these meds help but all have weight gain associated with them. my entire immediate family has weight poblems. i feel like this will definitely help me to improve my overal quality of life. i have a 4 year old son who i love and want to be able to keep up with him. ahh and this is tmi, but my weight gain is mostly in the stomach and lower body. i have no chest whatsoever! sucks but it literally all went straight to my butt! i saw my pcp on friday, and he said he would refer me to a doc at the universit of penn. he wanted to check out my blood work so we're doing that on monday to rule out thyroid problems. if all is clear, he'll refer me so i could get started with that part of the process. i'm nervous, i know i need to gain some weight to have at least a bmi of 35 for my insurance company to cover it, but i'm so scared to willfully gain weight and then be denied. i cannot self-pay at this time or anytime soon. thanks for reading, any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. good luck to everyone in their journey!

    weight gain

Hi everyone. I weighed myself a few days after surgery and went from 238 to 221, but I weighed myself today, ten days after surgery, and I'm up to 226. I'm barely eating anything, mostly on the liquid diet, so I don't know if there's another reason for the weight gain. Thank you.
  14. I weighed myself a few days after surgery and I went from 238 to 221, but I weighed myself today, now ten days after surgery, and I weigh 226. Is it common to gain a few pounds after surgery? I'm barely eating anything, so I don't know if there's another reason for the weight gain. Thanks.

    Stretching your sleeve

I'm only 5 months out, but I just can't see gaining back any significant weight. Granted, I still have 27 pounds to go to reach goal and the get to live the life of maintenance. I just can't eat that much and just one bite to many makes me feel awful. We made homemade individual pizzas last night (during the Cowboys game) and I made one about the size of a small bread plate for myself. Loaded it with Protein and veggies. There was NO way I could eat it all. In fact, I only at 1/4 of it and a couple bites of salad and I was DONE. Nothing else for the evening except a cup of hot tea and bottle of Water hours later. I know that there are always slider foods (milkshakes, high calorie smoothies) that can contribute to weight gain, but that's just not me. I like to eat real food that requires chewing. With my sleeve, I tend to gravitate naturally now to the protein and just can't eat much of it.
  16. Hey Tiffkins and thank you... That is probably a good idea. My major weight gain started when I quit smoking, so I can't go back to that. Might try a quick home improvement project.
  17. I found the article..here it is: John B Dixon1, Maureen E Dixon and Paul E O'Brien (1) Monash University Department of Surgery, Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Published online: 01 February 2001 Background: Severely obese women have higher obstetric risks and poorer neonatal outcomes. Weight loss reduces obstetric risk. The introduction of a laparoscopically-placed adjustable gastric band, a safe and effective method of weight loss, has given us the ability and responsibility to adjust the band in relation to pregnancy. Objective: Our aim was to devise a safe management plan to achieve healthy maternal weight gain (Institute of Medicine 1990) during pregnancy. Methods: In a cohort group of 650 patients to have a Lap-Band® placement for severe obesity, we have reviewed the management of the band and pregnancy outcomes of all women (n=20) to complete a pregnancy (n=22) with a band in-situ. Results: All 22 pregnancies were singleton, with no primary caesarean sections (3 for recurring indications). The mean maternal weight gain was 8.3 kg compared with 15.2 kg for the 15 previous pregnancies of women in this group (p<0.05). There was no difference in birth weights. Obstetric complications were minimal, and there were no premature or low birth weight infants. 11 of 15 subjects with active management of the band achieved a maternal weight gain within the advised range compared with only 2 of 7 prior to this. Conclusion:The ability to adjust gastric restriction allows optimal control of maternal weight change in pregnancy and should help avoid the risks of excessive weight change. ( I also found an online conversion calculator that sowes the 8.3 kg meantioned in the article equals about 18 pounds. )
  18. Hello, I am thinking that this may be normal; I had my lap band procedure done 12/21/09 and had been losing until I returned to work and was given the clearance to eat 3 small meals daily. I have started to gain weight:mad: Has any one else experienced this? I have been stopping eating when I feel full and am trying to make good food choices.

    5 Day Pouch Test

Thank you for the link to the website. I'm starting day one of the 5 day pouch test today, as I really fell off the band-wagon over Christmas and haven't been able to get back on. I was up until 4am last night - eating! I am so ashamed of what I have done and feel so hopeless. It was doing so well for the first three months, then came final exams, Christmas stress, and weight gain. These things combined made me start eating refined carbs (which I hadn't been eating for the first three months) and I can actually feel an addiction to them this time around. So, I know I need to quit eating those and get back on track (and hopefully the feeling of success will help as well). I really hope this is what I need!!! ~

    December Delights 2009

Yeah, I suspect I will be gaining back a few for sure. I also think much of what I've lost thus far is just water weight. But I won't let any weight gain discourage me - keeping my chin up

Me & the hubbs. just married!

Thanks everyone! I was still bigger than where I wanna be, but before the post baby weight gain! It got worse after the baby... and a whole lots'a being comfortable in my relationship!
  23. well hello stranger! good to hear from you! i'm so sorry to hear about the blood clot and weight gain. that's good tho that you have a supportive bf!! i'm sure once you get your fill you will do great! just hang in there sweetie. i'm doing pretty good. i've lost almost 80lbs :) cut all my hair off, i look like a new woman! haha. keep me posted on how everything goes for you, so good to hear from you!

  24. Sorry to hear of your condition, and yes as you know the weight gain is because of the medication. Be encouraged because you know that you can lose the weight again. You already have the tool in place and once the medication and treatment is done you can go back to losing. I know it sounds like a step backward, but really you're the encouragement and testimony to the band. Yes you're going through this now, but you'll lose not once but twice because you have the tools and knowledge on how to do it, and do it successfully. You're a testimony and inspiration to others. Yes you may have some tough times, but get back on it, as soon as you're able and do what you can... setbacks are part of life, but it's when we overcome them that make us great!
  25. I do understand. I took prednisone for a few months many years ago and the weight gain and other affects were awful during that short span. I understand WW and/or dieting in general is difficult which is why you got the band, but I was trying to offer a suggestion that may help you to minimize your weight gain so that you don't have to lose even more weight once you get to feeling better and get your band in working order again. I'm not really sure what it is you would like us to say to you or what kind of suggestions you are looking for so I'll just bow out now rather than say the wrong thing.
