  1. Well, here I am at 5 months out. The first picture was taken at a ladies mountain retreat in October 2012 (6 months before my band-to-sleeve revision.) Pic 2 was taken in early May 2013, about 2 weeks after surgery and pic 3 was taken yesterday. It's happening! I'm feeling good and enjoying my sleeve. I think it works like the band was supposed to work. I have restriction now and I haven't had any food get stuck since surgery, so I'm no longer looking for the nearest restroom in case I have to make a run for it. I tolerate every food that I've tried, except caffeine. I get caffeine jitters after only a few sips now and it just doesn't taste the same, so I don't bother. I'm proud of how far I've come. It feels so good to sit and bend comfortably. I am excited about losing the rest. There are so many more nsv's to uncover as a I continue on this road to recovery. I'm still working on the emotional eating, reducing my fat intake, and getting in enough Protein and exercise. It's still a lot of work, but it all feels do-able now. I am a work in progress.

    Nsv! Yay!

Great NSV !!! Isn't it an amazing feeling to put on a old tight piece if clothing to realize its to big I keep my give away bag right next to my mirror as things get to big I out in bag to give away because I will never be that size again thanks to the band and my hard work
  3. I had decided to not shop for a while. I figured it had been summer, and why buy new capris/shorts, only for them to not fit me next summer. I've been using belts to cinch them up and keep from falling off! Anyways, I finally decided to go shopping yesterday to buy a new dress for a religious convention we have this weekend. I couldn't believe I fit into size 14 and 16's (without the W), when I had been wearing 22/24. That was a really good eye opener for me. I hadn't been losing as much these past few wks than I had previously, so I was not quite feeling down, but not really 'seeing' a difference in me. Boy oh boy did that change yesterday!! It felt so good to buy 2 cute dresses (they were on clearance!) and feel good in them. I tried them on for hubby last night, and he was like "wow!" I even bought a few new undies & much needed bra's. So everyone - go shopping! It can really help to show you the difference you've made, even if the scale isn't showing it as much. :wink2:

    Grrrr so angry at myself!

Not banded yet but will be in 3 1/2 weeks. You are doing great. Lots of weight loss since january. Just a thought, have you checked your NSV's. Even though the scale hasn't moved you could be losing inches. They say 1 to 2 pounds a week average is normal. Everyone hits times that the scale don't move. Like guy said you are doing your part you just need the band to do its. Remember you didn't gain the weight in 1 day and you can't loose it in 1 either and 1 bad eating day is better than 365 bad eating days. Your avatar picture looks great and keep up the good work. Keep us posted on your progress. Greg

    Weird NSV

So, I'm not superstitious, but out of pure habit, I always wish on eyelashes when I find one on me (which is frequently). I have always, always wished to be thin. Today, without even thinking about it I said in my head, "Please let me get my term papers written on time." Oh, hey, look at that!

    Nsv #4510

    Ok, so I'm a new sleever....revised from a failed band. Fill me in..what is a NSV???LOL!
  7. It's been 5 months since my surgery I lost almost 50 pounds. Everyone at work has been commenting on how good I look. I have been buying lots of clothes because I am a lot smaller and I love it! Last night I wentto dinner and I put on a pair of jean jeggings (before these same jeggings gave me a muffin top and now they were loose on me). I wore boots and a cute long top with my daughter's black belt-I looked in the mirror and thought "Damn I look good!" lol It feels SO good feeling sexy again (even if I am 48 yrs. old). For all of you struggling through bandster hell I will tell you that it's totally worth it! I wentthrough all the self doubt and worrying if I would be one of the ones that just doesn't lose much with lapband and things really didn't start to get moving until 3 months after my surgery. I am 4.5 in a 10cc band and I am rocking the band! Am I perfect-no way, but it's not about being perfect it's about constantly reflecting, readjusting, and moving forward! I can't wait to buy a Christmas dress for my husband's Christmas party! Life is good!!!!!!!!!

    NSV

I was at my son's school the other day when a teacher's aide said, "That outfit looks great on you because you are so skinny. You're a runner, aren't you? You exercise a lot, huh?" I sheeply replied, "Yeah, I do exercise." I walk for a half hour an average of 3-4 times a week, so I don't exercise a lot. I couldn't believe she was talking about ME. BTW, I'm not skinny; I have a BMI of 24 which is awesome but definitely not skinny. So now people think I'm a runner? Man, that is awesome.

    Very Cool Nsv

That's an exciting NSV. Have fun!
  14. I went for my (a little bit early) 6 month post op visit today. My surgeon said he's proud of me! I'm down 30 pounds since my 3 month post op visit - that's 10 pounds a month. Plus, I've lost 57% of my body weight in under 6 months. He said, typically at 1 year post op, his patients have just lost 60% so I'm well ahead of the curve. He agreed that 145 is a good weight for me, if I want to lose more he'll support that but he doesn't recommend that I try for much more than that. He also told me to get these last 20 pounds off that I want to lose to switch up my exercise regimine, keep my portions to 1/2 cup, and cut out the carbs. I know this, but damn. I'm going to win this battle over my head hunger; I just have to try harder. And he documented this rash I have under my stomach. Tummy tuck, here I come! Then I went to visit my primary doctor because I was at the hospital, and she had said she wanted to see me when I lost my first 20 pounds. Well, I haven't seen her since before my surgery. The ENTIRE office staff came out in the lobby and then my doctor, who has been on my butt for years about losing weight, cried. She actually cried, and told me that she was so proud of me and she kept hugging me. The nurses all said that they would have walked right past me because I don't look the same. Normally I don't like the attention and I blow off people's compliments, but it meant the world coming from my doctor. So, here I am, 20 pounds to go. I can do this! I love my sleeve!

    Non Scale Victory

Ok today's NSV's I went biking BEFORE I went to a BBQ... In the past if I were going to a BBQ that would be the ONLY thing I did for the day! Oh and I played hopscotch with my friends six year old daughter but really, I was the only adult there not worried about looking silly. In the past I would of told the girl no so I wouldn't have to stand up and be noticed!
  16. Yesterday over lunch, I hit the ice and played hockey! It was a little akward at first, and I have some great blisters on my ankles, but these are the payment the hockey gods require. I skated ok, and had decent stamina. Being pickup we didnt have a lot of subs on either side. But I defended well against a bunch of college kids home on break. I didn't have much burst, as I feel overall weak. But my balance was great, especially skating backwards. It was such a great feeling afterwards. I forgot the rush of adrenaline-fueled brain chemicals you get after good competition. It was like I was high, or having an out of body experience lol. When I got back to work, it was as if I had drank 2 pots of starbucks high octance coffee. So that's a big check in the box next to one of my big goals. Sore today, but completely worth it. My pads fit really well too, which was an unexpected perk. Another NSV I had at the gym. You know those stupid little towels they give you that are made out of sandpaper so you dont steal them? I was able to wrap one around my titanic butt and stay covered on my walk to the shower! Hallu-freakin-lujah! Previously i had to choose a region to conceal and hold the towel in place lol. TMI I know, but some of you have probably been there done that. Happy day for me! Jay
  17. TO THE CENTURY CLUB???!!!!!!!!!! I ranted on here a little bit the other day about not hitting 100 pounds before I went back to school... well it finally happened 2 days later! I waited out the 2+ week stall before taking pictures and now I attached some below. Before is February 2012, 4 1/2 months before surgery. I should be over the moon but it's just so surreal to me... I guess I'm just a pessimist and still see myself as fat (which I am). I had a bit of a breakdown this morning when I posted one of these pics on Facebook because I was embarrassed and humiliated of my before picture. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm gorgeous and I was quite confident 100 pounds ago but when I look at those pics now I think "how in the hell did I think I was attractive?" This milestone has made me feel guilty for what I had done to my body. I am disgusted now, even though I wasn't then. I haven't felt overly emotional through this journey but I think it's all hitting me now... all of the NSVs, no clothes that fit, announcing it on FB, etc. Anyway, I still have a long way to go... but I appreciate all of the knowledge and support I get here everyday. Next stop... twonderland!!!!!! (Did we ever come up with a better name for that?)

    Trying Not To Whine ....

Same here...I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow and I'm feeling like a circus freak. What did help today was a trip to TJ Maxx to look at clothes. Before the surgery I was buying 2X shirts, today I put on a MEDIUM and it fit. That was my first NSV (non scale victory). We have to remember why we started this journey and how miserable we were before the surgery. I KNOW that I don't want to feel like that again. We are strong women who WILL make it thru this together. I'm a loser!!! DOS: 7/18/12 HW: 273 DOS: 260 CW: 241

    I cried

I agree with Chrisb428 and Orchids&Dragons, that is a bono fide NSV, but what a horrid way to,earn this one!🏣
  20. You've been thru major surgery on top of coming to grips with a complete lifestyle change and a shift in hormones. Cut yourself some slack...YES you're going to be emotional!!! The good news is you're going to see some major positive changes very soon and that should make the entire emotional roller coaster much easier to ride. At least for me, once I was seeing some NSV's happen in my life, it made the grieving process much easier. Good Luck. You got this!!!

    Am I just broken?

But you got this.... Just stick with the program, and it will work. I lost 22 pounds on my 2 week preop and then took another 3 months to lose 30. What worked for me was upping my water and calories. Broke a month long stall doing that. And I've had other stalls along the way, but I just kept eating healthy, getting all my protein, water and vitamins and the eventually would lose a little more. Have faith and enjoy your NSV's.
  22. A couple NSVs I wanted to share 1. Removed the ol' bra extender! 2. Rings are too loose. They are spinning on my fingers. 3. Watch is too big, need to remove a link...or 2! 4. Officially in an XL! No more plus size section for tops!! 5. Need to buy some new undies!! I am constantly pulling them up! 6. Last and my FAVE... I can CROSS MY LEGS!! I told my husband: "I'm just gonna sit here, with my legs crossed....forever!"
  23. This is going to turn out great for ya. Couple days and we'll be hearing the success stories, and NSV's.
  24. Oopsie! Definitely time for you to invest in two new items. Some new jeans and a new skirt! Wear them to death until you experience the next 'whoops' moment! Congrats on the embarrassing NSV though!
