Popcorn? I wouldn't, at six weeks believe it or not your stomach is still healing. The small kernels and stuff that get stuck In your teeth? That can get stuck in the staple line of your still healing stomach.. People really are not cleared for that kind of stuff until much later on..

Thank you. It makes me feel normal, considering everything the past few weeks is anything but.

Outing (accidentally deleted first post)

I think as long as you have a comfortable place to sit and its not several hours you will be ok. I was back working at a clinic 8 hour days a week post op! -
25 days post sleeve.
LGrierson replied to sammysue5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to get in your Protein or you will stop losing weight. I am almost a month out and at week 2 I wasn't eating much and didn't lose weight for about a week. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Start again.

The band is working well for me. I am losing about 2 to 2.5 pounds a week so around 10 pounds a month. I need to work on exercise. I sit at a computer all day and come home and sit some more. Today I told hubby I'm going to exercise no matter what. Regarding my eating I limit bread and steak which doesn't agree with my band. Everything else I eat small portions of. I track using My Fitness Pal. I'm working hard to be consistent with my healthy eating. Thanks for asking. I hope you are doing well. Lap-banded and love it! -
you guys are not alone. I am also 6 weeks out and have been suffering from the vomiting/nausea since week 2. My surgeon says it is probably scar tissue in the stomach and is at it's toughest around 6 weeks. I am also trying to look at the brighter side. It has been horrible and I have been in bed for weeks. I know I need protein but some days I can hardly eat or drink anything. Hang in there, that's all we can do and hope later we will reflect and say that was just a short time we suffered to get to the goal!

Hi there, I completely understand where your coming from. I was sleeved on 4/21/10 and everytime I eat something I throw it right up. I've tried eating slower, going back to mushies and last week, I was in the hospital for 5 days because my blood pressure was so low and I was so dehydrated. I'm praying that I didn't make a bad decision by getting sleeved. I hear all these great success stories and I feel so far away from them. I'd love to hear some motivation from some of the older sleevers. Thanks in advance, Daisy

SO I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm desperate. For the whole first month post op, I was totally fine. I was able to eat, drink my liquids and be merry. Now, for the past two weeks, I've been dead ill. Throwing up everyday, hospitalized twice for dehydration and now its not so bad, but its comin back. I'm working on keeping my fluid intake ok, but I'm sick!! All the protein drinks make me sick and when I was eating, I made sure to eat high protein foods to get my daily intake. now, I'm lucky if i can stay hydrated. The dr said be patient and it will pass and gave me some meds but I'm ready to give up......although how you give up on the pouch I still haven't figured out. HELP PLEASE!!! What should I be doing?!?!?!

Had Surgery On 7/27/12, Looking For The Same
captgriggs posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm looking for some people who may have the VSG performed on the same as I did and would like to talk about things, share ideas, experiences, plans and ask questions. There are a lot of good forums on here but, most people are several weeks off in there timeframe. I'm pretty sure there are a handfull or so out there that may fit what I'm looking for. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon. RJ -

So I have noticed that a lot of you are posting YouTube Videos of your experience. I am not at all comfortable posting videos of myself I have decided to post a new blog on my blog site. I will be posting about my experience with the lap band and also with the research study I am apart of that goes with this surgery. Here is the link to my blog: My surgery is not scheduled until October 30 but I have posted about my process with getting my surgery approved and with the research Study. http://mynewlifeoct30.blogspot.com/ To see my other blog from when I spent 4 weeks at the Biggest Loser Resort in Ivins, Utah: http://mylifechangingexperience-nykol.blogspot.com/ P.S. I don't think you can post comments unless you have a blog spot account. Feel free to contact me on here directly or create an account!

I was originally scheduled for surgery December 22nd of last year. It was denied at the last minute. I have a rescheduled tentative date for March 14th 2018. I am more hopeful. The plan is for the VSG. I should find out this week for sure if it'll happen then. The reason I was denied? My a1c was deemed to good(6.1%) and my other numbers were not bad enough. Despite the fact that I weigh 330 -/+ at any given time AND i've been that weight for a few years. I have tried in vain to lose weight. Well thanks to a few reasons(medication change and holiday eating) my a1c jumped to 7.2%. My blood pressure measures fairly high when I visit the surgeon. He, along with my other medical folks, were shocked I was denied. I think of it this way...I got the short straw that day. I was very upset but I do believe things happen, or not, for a reason. My surgeon really has fought for me to get approval, he and his staff have been really great. I just wanted to say hello again!

I was so concerned about the "ripping" feeling that I went to the ER (that and I was dehydrated). They x rayed me and assurred me that everything was in the correct place and that I was feeling normal post op pain. i wasn't prepared for the level of pain that I did feel. I am 2 1/2 weeks out and I still am tender around and inside port area. i am functioning at fairly normal level though feel quite fatigued. i just have been able to sleep on port side of side in last few nights. i still get the pulling sensation a little but bearable. i have placed pillows around and underneath port to give support. i thought i'd go crazy till i was able to get on my side again. it's going to get better.

Tiny But Sharp Pain After Lunch
SageTracey replied to RahRahRah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be where you had a stitch but you are about six weeks post op so shouldn't be too much going on there. It may be totally unrelated to your band. You describe it as tiny so I wouldn't be too worried just yet. If it doesn't go away or gets worse, be sure to get medical advice, just to give you peace of mind. -
just a funny head shot of me laughing :)

Pre workout post surgery?
New&Improved replied to Megan Catherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 weeks you might want to start slow don't push yourself too much. I know I'm not meant to lift anything over like 10lbs until 4 weeks so I'm taking it very easily right now 2 days from 2 weeks post op -
Just get started
2Bsmaller18 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started the process the beginning of October. I had the 4th nutrition visit in January (first one was in Oct, then every 28-30 days another so the 4th appointment for weigh in was on day #91 in january). Then I saw the surgeon a week later. They submitted the paperwork and Aetna mailed me the approval letter 10 business days later. From what I understand your weight can go up and down a little due to different clothing etc. (preferable down) during the 90 day nutrition visits but they want that final 90 day weight in to be lower than the first visit. During that 90 day period I did the other tests, blood work etc. For me my surgery is scheduled about 4.5 months after that very first appointment. -
Gastric sleeve vs. gastric bypass - your opinions:
Decembersleever replied to alannahroseoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a couple of stalls but I ignore them and stay with the plan. I do not have any regrets. Today three different people asked me if I was losing weight and then they said I was looking very good. Made my day!!!! -
Pre workout post surgery?
lvidacovich replied to Megan Catherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually its not all about reps. Low reps and high weight still breaks the muscles down and gives them the need to rebuilt just as much as low weight high reps. I did a program before surgery that was 1x a week, low reps high weight and I increased all of my maxes by quite a bit in a short time frame. That said - anything is better than nothing! -

Thanks everyone :-) I got the sleeve 4 months ago & it's been amazing for me! I have no food problems at all, pain, problems eating/drinking!! It seems to be great!! I just wanted to see if anyone wishes they got a different wls. Did anyone further into post op have annoyingly long stalls?! -
So this is all new to me although I've been doing research and going to doctors visits and having all kinds of tests done and well my doctor finally gave me the referral to a surgeon. Although I confused. I called the doc and I have to do some seminar before they can give me an apt. The girl was really nice and advised me to see if my insurance covers bariatrics and to not ask to many questions, so I did just that. I was advised that it is covered if medically needed once approved they will cover 100%. I also asked where on line I could find the requirements so she told me where and so I went to look but that info is not online. So I came across something else in the benefits website under doctor search and it didn't have names of doctors but approved facilities for bariatrics and this doctor is not affiliated with any of the 4 hospitals in the Chicago land area! So am I just wasting my time with this seminar if this doctor isn't affiliated with one the the 4 hospitals? Ugh... Anyone have a suggestion for me. I will tell you that I was diagnosed with sleep apnea (just received my cpap machine a week ago) my BMI is 41 or 42 and I have been having back issues and went to therapy and MRI's and nothing is wrong mechanically. I have issues with my ankles and knee's giving out I'm like 5'. 0.5" and as of yesterday 219 (I lost 5 lbs this month, I'm so proud). I have BCBS of GA and I live in Chicago land area go figure out of state insurance! Does any of this look hopeful? Some one anyone give me some inspiration words of wisdom. I've been wanting and pushing doc to say ok lap-band since early this Year and it's now August and I just turned 30 2 weeks ago and want to enjoy my 4 year old daughter and life.

lianna, It takes at least three months for your port to become encapsulated with scar tissue. Since you are six months out, you might have somehow "jogged" it a little to cause the soreness. I had my surgery on April 20th, and since the date of surgery I have used a lightly wrapped ACE banage around my middle to help with pain and support. I wear it a night and a few hours during the day. It has helped my soreness tremendously -- and my scars are as flat as can be. You might try a light wrapping to help until your soreness goes away and to help hold your port back in place until it "re-heals."

I had the gastric sleeve Feb. 24 so I am 5 days post OP. I feel crappy. I feel hungry, am I suppose to? I tried the broth as much as I hate it and I couldn't do it. The cream of wheat they said I can eat made me throw up (never liked that either) so all I have really been able to eat it sugar free jello and sugar free fudgesiscles. I am not sure if there is other things I can eat at almost a week post op.. any suggestions??

Getting dicourages
johnlatte replied to MyGoodThang's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First congratulations on your loss!. A 50 lb loss in the first two - three months is somewhat above average for most people having this surgery. If I could ask, what was your expectation at this point? I ask this a lot from folks that post similar and it is rare that I get an answer. I really am curious what you thought you would weigh two months out. Did you talk to your surgeon to see where he thought you would be? Again great job on the loss, I would not be "dicouraged" if i were you.
