You know, I am 100% Greek and I have never had Greek yogurt. Do you find it with all the rest of the yogurt? We don't have Trader Joes here, just Safeway and Walmart.

75 miles? Not me :wink2: I'm lucky if i get 40! I guess i can count the elliptical trainer which i haven't been getting to since work has cut into this time too (7am calls). So I'm on day 3 after mythird fill and still unable to go to mushies. A little yogurt and I'm sliming. Hoping after riding tomorrow I'll loosen up some. In any case not an emergency keeping liquids down. I guess if no improvement by Monday I'll call the doc. -
I like Fage greek yogurt at 23 grams protein for 1 cup. It tastes like sour cream. When I was on the liquid and soft foods diets it saved me from having to drink protein drinks.

Oikos Greek Yogurt
MyGastricSleeveLife replied to reese1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The plain or vanilla flavors have less sugar than the fruit flavors. I was told to stay away from the fruit ones, and be sure to get the fat free kind. Greek yogurt definitely has more protein than regular yogurt. -
Hey I never thought of using the Mio drops. I use the Torrini sf syrups or DaVinci sf syrup. I do love the Greek yogurts that have the fruit in them, but the carbs are very high. I have also put SF jam in the plain. It's really good when you add in a little sf pudding mix. The syrups thin out he yogurt but the pudding thickends it back up and makes it quite tasty.

My favorite is this - Lemon sole. Juice of one lemon; 1/2 tbsp of butter - cook in a pan. Mash it up. Another one but this is high calorie and believe it or not my doc's office suggest it (or maybe it is high cal compared to what I have been used to eating). Noodleless lasagna - skim ricotta; skim mozzarella and marinara sauce microwaved or baked. I try to keep that at the minimum though. Good ole tuna w/ light mayo Greek 0% yogurt with blended fruit or i do use a bit of honey. -

MestizaBander replied to slinkielovin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you are feel better! I just started full liquids today but I still have tons of pressure and bloating so I'm getting full off 3 teaspoons of yogurt. I've been walking and walking but it's not budging. My dr. Told me to get some miralax to help me get some relief. I can't wait to feel better! -

Thanks BooCakes! I am pretty sore today, and sitting in the car for 6 hours on the drive home did not help. I need to walk around some more to get rid of the gas pains. Other than that, all is good! Not too hungry, probably had about 500 cals total of soup & yogurt & protein shake today. Much better than all that broth! You will be on the banded side soon! :blushing: -

Ready4a2ndChance replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There were several reasons; excess gas, empty calories, high in sodium and carbohydrates.........I definately don't need any more gas hahahahaha. QUESTION: I haven't had a fill yet, i'm 2wks out almost, should I feel alot of restriction????????? I feel like I'm too hungry........typical day 4oz of V8juice/4oz cottage cheese for breakfast.........2boiled mushed up eggs and some light mayo.......and mushy tuna or tomato soup for dinner and maybe a small smoothie or some yogurt for a snack (I get up at 6am and go to bed at like midnight/1am)...............should I be so hungry inbetween meals. I have 1cc in my band. -
Anyone scheduled for 11/12?!?!
PamJayne replied to LauraLei101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also scheduled for November 12th. I have days of overwhelming fear and other days of just wanting to get it done and start a new life. I have been even more emotional since starting the 2 week pre op diet 6 days ago. Three shakes a day (can only stand the Premier Protein chocolate and strawberry Creme) and broth, sf pudding, sf Jello, greek yogurt without chucks (which I cant stand, makes my stomach turn) and sf popsicles. Good luck to all of you! -
@@BellaLuce4 Thank you. I'm surprised how much I can actually get down. I had 20oz of coconut water, 4oz Of plain water and 4oz of isopure. Better than I thought it would be. I also had 1 tablespoon of Fage 2% plain yogurt mixed with another tablespoon of chobani banana Greek yogurt. It was delicious. I just ate really slow and I was able to get it all in. I'm not pushing it though. I'm just sipping water for the rest of the night!

September 2009 Band Date

Congratulations Christie! I was banded on 9/1 also. My gas pain is all in my chest too. Walking helps. Every time I walk, I cough - which hurts the belly but I guess that means progress. Full liquids is good, way better than clear, but I can't seem to find anything I am interested in. The cream of chicken Soup was good...all the Protein shakes taste way too sweet. What else is there? Yogurt I guess. We are allowed to have cottage cheese too, I could try that. Not much of an appetite. -

I eat all day long. Everyone swears i eat more now that i am skinny. I always have somethng in my hand...Yogurt..Banana..Protein shake...it will get easier! -

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
HollyHill replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@dreamingsmall - I'm on week 6 and my daily food consist of the following: probiotic shot (Good Belly Shot) early morning - before my workout. Then I drink Water during the workout and for 1 hour after. Breakfast: drinkable yogurt, with protein fruit flavored drink and 8 oz of water Lunch: Meat based soup (like French Onion, or Chicken and Vegetable) or Chicken Taco meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa all about 1/2 cup. Eat Slowly take a min between bites Dinner: Meatloaf with potatoes and steamed veg's or soft grilled pork with veg. I drink about 32 oz of water in between eating. I drink water before bed. Most of the water is flavored with protein powders. So I get 60-80 mg I found by eating slower and stopping when full, I eat less, and I drink more! Today I'm in a pair of pants I haven't worn in 2 years! I know it's working by the clothes not the scale. Hope that helps. -
I haven't tried it, but it seems like it should work because it's basically cutting out most carbs (except in the yogurt and beans) and consuming Protein and drinking lots of water/fluids to help flush things out. When it says "must have 45 grams of protein supplements" does it mean in addition to the 3 oz/5 times a day thing?

Help i dont eat yogurt or cheese!!!!!!!!!
littlefroggy replied to NEWME2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't eat any dairy generally, but LOVE cheese so much I am always on the hunt. Most makes me sick- even soy cheese (casein is in it.) BUT I found YOGURT CHEESE at Trader Joe's. It's lactose free and tastes good to me. I can't eat yogurt at all, so I don't know why I can eat that, but it's good and doesn't make me sick, just a LITTLE gassy, but that's a lot better than what usually happens to me! -
Help i dont eat yogurt or cheese!!!!!!!!!
heartfire replied to NEWME2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried the soy cheeses in the natural foods section of your grocery store? They're pretty decent, esp if you're adding them to things. There are different brands and types so you'll have to find one you like. They are different in texture too so do make note of that. But experiment and see waht you find that you might like. As far as the yogurt, have you tried greek yogurt? I can't stand yogurt or cottage cheese (it's a texture thing) but I LOVE greek yogurt! By a small container and see if you like it. There are different brands and flavors, even the plain is good and I can't handle even a bite of plain yogurt! -
my local health food store makes great peanut butter protein shakes. so now i just make my own at home with protein powder, ff vanilla frozen yogurt, banana and some peanut butter (also maybe some ice cubes). my band is pretty tight & i'm quite restricted so i don't mind the extra calories and it's sooo good. highly recommend

BEST tasting protein shake?
Pats Fan in MA replied to Allisonmscott86's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have an issue with sweet stuff too- and of course most of the Protein drinks taste sickly sweet to me! I bought a 2lb tub of Jarrow's Unflavored whey Protein (at Amazon) in order to blend it with Soups like tomato, creamy chicken, plain yogurt, etc. So far I've used it in creamy chicken Cup 'O Soup and it only made the soup creamier- it didn't have any taste that I could detect whatsoever! Today I'll be having a scoop of it (18g protein) in a can of tomato soup. I hope that works as well. I chose Jarrow's because the reviews said it blended really well with hot and cold foods, and it does. I will say though, you have to mix it like you were making gravy or a roux- start with a small amount of the hot liquid, then whisk in (I'm at work so I used a plastic fork and it worked fine) the powder until smooth, then add in the rest of the hot liquid slowly as you stir. If you don't do it this way you will end up with chunky bits floating on top- so gross! -
Anyone having surgery on 11/6?
happymama2014 replied to ASHMAGS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! My son is 7 and first I told him surgery because they did find a tumor on my liver last month then decided he will tell people I don't want so I just said they are going to look at my insides. @ nprcowboy Supplies-I got two months of various Vitamins required through my kaiser program. All but one is chewable or liquid but got them at walmart, cvs, online at (celebrate vitamins) to get it all. Don't want to worry bout crushing pills! I also ordered 2 kinds of Protein powder (flavored), 1 unflavored to add to Soup, yogurt, applesauce. Got a Ninja blender, food thermometer, insulated cups for sipping, blender ball shakers for on the go. Tummy binder, slip on walking shoes, gas x strips. From grocery, Jello, sugar free (sf) pudding, Popsicles, lowfat cream Soups, strainer, light and fit Greek yogurt, in chunky unsweetened applesauce, Cream of wheat. Some premade Protein Shakes for the on the go but just a case because I may not like em later! Try bariatric pantry. Got done samples and after surgery will order more things for the rest of the month. -
071, Everyone is different for sure, but don't worry about the post-surgical pain. It should be a small bump in the long road ahead. Mine wasn't so bad. 3 wks out I still have a twinge or two, but nothing that is keeping me from doing anything. As for the protein, at first this will come in the form of drinks or shakes. I use Pure Protein Frosty Chocolate, 1 scoop, added to 1/2 c milk and some ice chips to make a shake. It's not bad at all. 2 a day gives you 50gms of protein, and then eating Greek 0% Fat yogurt a couple times, and your'e there. Protein will help you heal, and help you lose weight. Try and focus on the END RESULT, which will be worth the struggles at the beginning. You can do it!

I just got the ok to do strained puréed food. I can't bring myself to purée meat or eggs to the point of liquid, so I am sticking with puréed and strained yogurt and creamy soups and apple sauce. Next week I can have puréed food through a colander, like the consistency of stage 1 baby food. I don't feel hungry at all and have just been eating because I know I have to. It's still hard to get my liquids in. I had surgery on the 26th and had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.

Hi all March 2014 Sleevers..! This is my first post, so here goes! My surgery was on 3/4. I am doing really well overall. I have GERD and did have some lingering discomfort when swallowing anything the first few days, but then it subsided. The first 3 days were Clear liquids only, which to me was the hardest b/c it's BORING. But honestly you're kinda beat, and not very hungry anyway. By day 4, when I could add full liquids I started with alot of Soups, and did ok with that. S.F. pudding, and greek yogurt become your friends too. Once I was able to add eggs, cheese, and soft fish I became extremely happy and hopeful. Protein IS A MUST PEOPLE! Find a good Protein shake, and stick with it. I get my 65-75gms of Protein a day by eating right, and those shakes give you 50gms on their own! Use them as a snack between your meals. I have been very optimistic from start to my current status. I never got down on myself or the process, but I totally understand how it can happen. Just know that this is going to change your life for the better! You may have some hiccups/roadblocks, but ultimately you will be a healthier you! Good luck to all the pre-surgery folks, and also to those who like me are just starting out. :-)
