15 MORE DAYS!!!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to marisela87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there Mari, and welcome to VST!!! The time will absolutely fly by, and before you know it you'll be laying on your back, staring up at the bright OR lights and fade to black... lol!!! It's ok, when you wake up your tummy will be gone and you will be SO THANKFUL!! Re: Loose skin. Yeah likely you will have *some*. Everyone's skin retracts differently. However, I always say - I can hide the loose skin, or the surgery scars for that matter. I have yet to find ANYONE who can hide obesity!! I never was able to... You will more than likely experience stalls. I think there are only a very small handful that have not had to deal with this. I've had a few short ones myself, by about a week long or so. To be really honest though, there has always been a reason for it. I either just had to wait it out or make a few changes. You just need to stay focused and keep doing the right thing and the scale will cooperate with you eventually. ...and finally the permanent aspect. Well, I'll tell you - I had the "reversible" WLS as well. I think too many go into that surgery knowing this and use it as an excuse to blow it off. You can't blow this off! I'll never do anything so major knowing I can go back on it. It's too big a deal. Besides, no surgery is 100% reversible anyway. You will always be left with scars, scar tissue on the inside and sometimes even worse. Do not let those few things dissuade you! I'll even go as far to say you may even have a few moments of regret. I did!!! I won't lie - it was right after surgery and I was feeling so awful and I wondered what the heck I did to myself. But you know what? That feeling fades really fast!!! Every time I step on the scale, someone compliments my losses, I'm wearing smaller clothes or I have a great NSV - I'm ever more thankful! Good luck!!! -
Love All The Nsvs!
minaleigh replied to Less of Leslie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
NSV means Non-Scale Victory. Basically anything that you couldn't do or have happen to you before when you were heavier. -
So, my last NSV was being able to wrap a towel around my body...still lovin that! My new NSVs....... I WAS ABLE TO RIDE THE MINI ROLLERCOASTER WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON SATURDAY!! I was not asked if I was pregnant, and the lap bar went all the way down to my new lovely lap! BTW...I HAVE A LAP!! It felt sooo good to be able to ride with my honey and not be embarassed that I was too big to ride. 2nd NSV, I NEED A BELT!! I have NEVER needed a belt, my pants were always plenty tight enough. Now, My pants sag on me and I really can't keep investing in clothes that won't fit in a couple months...it IS fun having to shop for all the cutest styles though! 3rd NSV, I can try on clothes at the flea market. OK, I know that sounds wierd...but hear me out. There is an Antique fair that happens once a month here in Sacramento, CA. I LOVE IT!! Well, I went on Sunday and I had a BLAST trying on all the vintage clothes over my clothes. It was so FUN! I bought a couple things too! Before VSG, I would have just been browsing and wishing, now thanks to "Sleevie Nicks" (because she is a ROCKSTAR! ) I can LIVE and be INVOLVED WITH LIFE!! *sigh* Life is good.

Omg! The Changes Are Really Happening!
brandymarie81 replied to brandymarie81's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I sent the first pic to my friend when I took it and was so proud...then I took the one on Saturday but didn't think anything of it til I was looking for an older picture to show my boss. That was when I decided to compare and was SHOCKED at the difference. My tummy was so big it could drive my car...now there is a huge gap! I thought my steering wheel needed to be checked because it was feeling loose...that's when I realized the huge gap. This honestly has to be the best nsv for me so far. I can't wait to see what happens in the next three months. I really want to be 100 lbs down by September! Maybe I will have to adjust my seat! -

Fantastic! I love these NSV'S! -
Yahoo for you! I too have had the same NSV, not only do I fit but the wifey can snuggle up to me on the same side too with room to spare! Dontcha-love it?
-
I know this will not sound very importamt to a lot of you but it is big for me. I can now fit in a booth at restaurants and do not have to sit at a table. I hated always asking for a table because I could not fit in a booth. I have specifically asked for a booth for the last two weeks when we go out and it is fantastic. I will never sit at a table again if I have a choice.

I bought myself a little something to celebrate losing 100 pounds today! I figure each time I look down at my wrist, I will be reminded of my accomplishment. I am so proud of me!

Sounds like you are having a ball. Great NSV Penni!
-
I've been reading your threads and have to say I love your NSVs...I come on here hoping to hear more "balls in the toilet" tales...being a girl and reading period stories isn't as fun I asked my hubby if his balls ever fall in the toilet and he laughed at me wondering where I heard something like this...luckily he doesn't have that issue but I guess it happens to some guy friends lol

First Non-Scale Victories Pre-Surgery!
Webchickadee replied to Pre-OpLoser619's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah! Yes, I always look (and hope!) for a chair that has no arms. Often I'm disappointed though because there is no such choice. I choose to stand rather than try to "smush" myself into those chairs. I haven't been in a situation where I've needed to try out such a chair recently though. I'm down about 37 lbs, so who knows, maybe I too have this great NSV waiting for me to experience soon! -
Your most exciting NSV
LilMissDiva Irene replied to NtvTxn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There have been many many many! But I'd have to say my very best NSV was when I actually completed running my first real 5K event. I never stopped to walk any of it. That was the best feeling I've ever experienced. Especially since barely one year ago I was scheduled for my first of two knee surgeries. I love my sleeve!!! -
Your most exciting NSV
Sassygirl06 replied to NtvTxn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have had a few...tonight though i was out with my kids trick or treating and i ran into an old co-worker of mine. it was dark out so she couldnt see me to well, but she gave me a hug, and while she was hugging me i could feel her hands feeling around for the rest of me...haha she stepped back while still holding my waist and said, oh my god, where is the rest of you! i laughed and told her that i have lost 80 pounds and she was flabbergasted! to fun my other nsv happened a while ago that i already posted once, that was when i put on a bath towel and for the first time it fit all the way around me and tied in the front. that was sooooo cool! -

4 Months Out, Going On A 2 Week Plateau
UndaMyVoodoo replied to Noelle Montana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Lissa, look at all of those other things that are changing about your body. If your size is changing, and you are feeling great that should be all that matters. I know the point of WLS is to lose "weight" but for me it is about losing weight to get healthier and be able keep up with my toddler. My surgery is in four days and I have decided that I will not be focused on or a slave to the "number". Any good changes that happen to my body will be a WIN for me regardless of how much weight I've lost. It won't be about what I lost this week or last. I think losing weight is important but focus on all of the NSVs you are having. As long as you are doing what you need to do with your Protein, food, and Water, it will all work itself out. I wish you luck! -
My NSV's, Goals & Rewards
jomamacita7 replied to AshleePage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Ashlee! Thanks for sharing your NSVs, goals, and rewards with us! Your surgery is scheduled for my youngest daughter's 22nd birthday! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and that you get to enjoy your trip to Disneyland, your new shoes, and your trip to Europe! Best wishes. -
This is for the plus size fashionistas...
jennyinky replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Lynn - I feel you! Congratulations on your NSV! Lane Bryant and Catherine's are the only plus size stores in my area (and Catherine's doesn't often appeal to me). I am scheduled for surgery on the 10 th and the preop diet has loosened me out of the 24 pants (not shirts - long way to go on the top! I'm planning to wear alt of maxi dresses over the next few months so I can get away with not buying a lot of clothes until I'm close to goal.
