Banded May 10Th 2012 And Already Some Nsvs!
blanham04 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So as the title says I was banded on May 10th of 2012 and including the pre-surgery diet I have lost 50lbs so far. I didn't think I would have anything to Celebrate only a few weeks out, but I already do and thought I would share: 1. Everyone at work keeps asking me how much weight I've lost and how I am doing so well . 2. I went to the back of my closet and pulled out 10 items of clothing I haven't worn in 5 years or more! 3. My wife and I went to Disney World together and when we have gone in the past I am usually walking along with my feet hurting trying to keep up with her. This time she was trying to keep up with me! Also, I was able to ride a few rides for once! I just thought I would share these with the community and I want to thank all the people on here so much. If I hadn't read your success stories I know I would have never went through with the surgery. I almost backed out the morning of, but decided that so many people had been successful and I wanted to as well. I am in love with my lapband at this point and so excited that I don't feel hungry and don't have the cravings like I used to. I look forward to continued weight loss and most importantly keeping the weight off long term. Thank you all for the inspiration! -

Congrats, I love reading NSV's they matter so much more than the numbers on the scale. -
Surgery April 25th, have only lost 30lbs but bought a size 12 shorts yesterday. I was wearing 16/18. My body is shrinking even if the scales aren't. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

I can now wear a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in over 10 years!!! Is the amazing part that I've lost the weight? OR that I actually kept the jeans in the closet for that long?? lol

shandytx83 welcome its always nice to get new blood in the neignborhood 83 lbs lost - WooHoo telling/seeing you have lost weight,, old clothes don't fit anymore??? getting rid of your "big" clothes - buying new smaller sized clothes is quite a committment thats a great NSV (non scale victory as we fondly call it!!) kindof like "out" with the old - "in" with the new!! many people buy clothes in their transition period at goodwill - then you are not spending lots of money on clothes you won't be wearing long you being 5' you probably want to lose another 40 lbs??? you can't wake up dailty being afraid that you are going to "mess" up eat something wrong - gain the weight back you are 6 months post op losing 83 lbs - still wanting to lose weight - don't think about gaining, don't worry about the future concentrate on "today", continue your great work try and drink more Water, that is important you said - "trying really hard its not easy every day its a new start" every day is NOT easy - you are right there are days that are more challenging than others corny, but if one day you slip, pick yourself up and start again do your "best" thats all you can do i can see you are working really hard putting one foot in front of another you are awesome!!!!! take care nice to meet you keep up the good work congrats on your success -
One of the reason I choose to have WLS was to help me gain control of my health issues. I had Type II diabetes, high cholesterol, bad joints in my knees and feet and so on. Well, after my blood work results, I am happy to report: I am no longer diabetic. I no longer have high cholesterol. My joints are feeling better although they still twinge every now and then. I am off my diabetic meds as well as the cholesterol meds. I am reducing the dosage of my synthroid meds. I only have 2 mandatory meds I have to take that are, HRT (female hormones due to a hysterectomy in 2002) and my synthroid. Yay! It is amazing what losing 94 pounds will do for your health. 45 pounds prior to surgery and 49 after surgery. Working on becoming as healthy as I can. Sheila

Amen! I celebrated a NSV yesterday too... went to my one year check up (everything was great) and then had to go have lab work done. I always dread the lab work...no the actual stick itself...but the sitting in the lab chair. Yesterday as I sat down I realized that I had plenty of room in the chair...no longer did I have to squeeze or sit sideways!! It's a good feeling to fit places now!! Happy for your NSV!! -
Almost 1 month out-I went to the GYM today!!!

Too Cool! Nothing like shopping and have a NSV as well, to get you out of a funk. I love Tankini's especially with "boy shorts" bottoms

Yesterday over lunch, I hit the ice and played hockey! It was a little akward at first, and I have some great blisters on my ankles, but these are the payment the hockey gods require. I skated ok, and had decent stamina. Being pickup we didnt have a lot of subs on either side. But I defended well against a bunch of college kids home on break. I didn't have much burst, as I feel overall weak. But my balance was great, especially skating backwards. It was such a great feeling afterwards. I forgot the rush of adrenaline-fueled brain chemicals you get after good competition. It was like I was high, or having an out of body experience lol. When I got back to work, it was as if I had drank 2 pots of starbucks high octance coffee. So that's a big check in the box next to one of my big goals. Sore today, but completely worth it. My pads fit really well too, which was an unexpected perk. Another NSV I had at the gym. You know those stupid little towels they give you that are made out of sandpaper so you dont steal them? I was able to wrap one around my titanic butt and stay covered on my walk to the shower! Hallu-freakin-lujah! Previously i had to choose a region to conceal and hold the towel in place lol. TMI I know, but some of you have probably been there done that. Happy day for me! Jay

Huge Huge Huge Nsv For Me! I Am So Excited!
VSG AJH replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is a dream of mine. Even mentioned my desire to do a mud run at my psych eval. Fortunately, even that didn't make me seem too crazy for surgery. Congrats on your super awesome NSV!! -

Awesome!!! Love NSV -
Huge NSV’s yesterday. Went to Disneyland two week two days post op. I fit and could easily get off and on rides I haven’t even attempted for years! Weird though...the two roller coasters I went on usually tickle my tummy. Not this time. I guess there is less to tickle?!?!

This is awesome, congratulations!! For me, it was realizing I am down 2-3 sizes from when I started this journey. It was so surreal having to return an article of clothing to get a smaller size. Yay for NSVs!!

NSV today while shopping
Sharpie replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna, what a great NSV.. I have two Wacoal bra's in my dresser, both cost me 65.00 each.. now they are too big but hey I am not complaining.. it's really great to find stuff on sale that fits.. you should have bought the jeans and had them shortened.. I have problems with the same thing.. I am 5' on a good day. so if it says short or petite I usually have to shorten it...good shopping days are what makes everything better.... -
very cool !! congrats... I LOVE NSV. today I bought my first ever xlarge shirt in over 20 years !!!!!!!!!
