    Unflavored Protein

Quest unflavored is my jam. Genepro is quite controversial. Do your homework and make an informed choice before trying it.

    Protein issues

I mix in Genepro and Crystal Light with my water, and I cannot even taste the protein. I would high recommend the Genepro, it is amazing!

    This is NASTY!

@@Raymia here's all the samplers I ordered: https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-sampler-variety-bag-15-flavors https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/products/bariatric-fusion-meal-replacement-single-serving-packet-variety-pack https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/products/bariatricpal-fruit-protein-drinks-variety-pack https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/products/bariatricpal-variety-shake-pudding-7-packets-per-box http://www.unjury.com/products/unjury-starter-kit.html https://www.gotein.com/sample-pack I also have not tried these, but another place that's offering sample sizes is: https://truenutrition.com/p-7425-tn-proteinflavor-sample-packs.aspx I've also been told you can go to some health food stores like Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and they'll let you try some of the Protein powders/drinks, but I haven't tried that myself. It's a lot, and I didn't order them all at once, but I was glad I did. A lot of them, I just couldn't stomach. This was a LOT less wasteful than ordering stuff I hadn't tried. I am VERY picky about tastes/textures so I knew I couldn't just grab something off the shelf. Oh, and I also got a sampler of ready-made Premier Protein from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Premier-Protein-Chocolate-Vanilla-Strawberry/dp/B01LWU0BP5/ref=sr_1_9_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1481650883&sr=8-9&keywords=premier+protein+flavors The other option a lot of people go with is just getting the unflavored stuff and adding it into other liquids and foods. I found that the Syntrax and GENEPRO unflavored affect the taste/texture the least. Some of the samplers have unflavored to try. Some people don't trust the Genepro hype (more available protein than should be available by mass) but I haven't found any reason not to use it. Good luck!!

    Unflavored Protein

Please send any links to independent studies. The one linked up thread was paid for by the manufacturers of Genepro.
  5. Your closet looked like mine and I hope you use everything because I certainly did not. I bought so many different Proteins, $$$$$$$$$ and other products recommended that I just didn't use, grrrrr. I only use premiere Protein and GENEPRO powder that I did stick up on. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

Help! I'm not getting my water or protein

If you can order Genepro from Amazon, instead of a huge scoop of protein it is just a tablespoon and has 30 grams, only 4 carbs it mixes with anything and I cannot taste it. I mis it in my protein shake in the morning along with my scoop of unjury and skim milk and my morning protein shake is 8 ounces of skim milk, 1 scoop of unjury a scoop of Genepro and a little powdered sugar free pudding and a few ice cubes to get it cold and it is 59 grams of protein. I almost have my protein requirement in by 7 am before I leave for work. It's awesome.

    Protein & Water Concerns

Thank you! You as well, that's an amazing loss! I try and stay away from caffeine. I tried unflavored Isopure in plain water and I basically gagged. I've heard good things about GENEPRO, so I ordered some samples to try. Is there any reason NOT to supplement every day? Or is it fine to?
  8. I don't count calories or worry about fat. I concentrate on getting that 64 ounces of Water first, then getting my Protein in. I get a MINIMUM of 60 grams. I keep my carbs as low as possible--although I don't count them so to speak. I just make sure whatever I eat is extremely low in carbs. I find I do much better if I get MORE than 60 grams of protein a day. I live on GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder and Quest bars. I work full time, commute a total of 1.5 hours a day to work/home and my husband is 100% disabled. I just don't have the time to cook. The least expensive source of protein would probably be eggs. I think as far as meats, chicken and turkey are less expensive than beef. Fish, depending on what type, would probably be as expensive, or more so than beef. I haven't been able to exercise this week, I've been sick with an upper respiratory infection. I hope to get back in the pool next week. I haven't lost weight in some time. I think I've hit a plateau. If I don't loose any more--it's fine with me since I'm down to a good size. I'm not worried about a number on a scale, or a clothes size--as long as I feel good and can move well that is my primary concern.
  9. Also genepro protein 30 grams tasteless approved by my doctor office

    any November 2017 sleevers?

So I said I would post stats today. My name is Michelle, and live in Phoenix with my husband, but we have lived all over the US. It’s pretty good.

    Good protein powder?

I love GenePro unflavored protein powder!! It has 30g of protein in one tablespoon!! I add it to my foods and even my cup of tea in the mornings!! Amazing and doesn't change the taste of anything! Also mixes very well!
  12. I drink premier for a grab and go, but also purchased Genepro on ebay. Its a tasteless protein powder you can add to anything and one lil scoop is 30g
  13. I hated premier, it was so sweet it gave me a headache as well. I like GENEPRO Protein powder! never going back to premier!
  14. Try a variety of brands and flavors, both in ready-made shakes and powders. I prefer the plant-based protein shakes to those that are whey-based. Orgain makes a killer Chocolate Salted Caramel, and Purely Inspired is good in Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Bariatric Advantage even has some soup flavors. Isopure is clear fruit-flavored protein powder, which I mix with Crystal Light or other sugar free flavored drink I.e, half a glass of one mixed with half a glass of the other. GenePro makes a flavorless protein powder that can be added to soup, coffee, pudding, etc. There is endless variety! Walmart usually has a fairly decent selection. You can order products online. Do read the Nutrition Data before buying.

    Post op liquid diet

I was sleeved 11/8 and since I already had difficulties with sweets (they just never did taste all that spectacular), my surgeon and NUT recommended that I take my Protein by adding unflavored protein to broth for my main meals then have a half portion of a sweet Protein shake if I thought I wanted a sweet thing at the end of the day. I had ordered the GENEPRO unflavored protein and it's okay, but I think that I might have preferred the Beneprotein by Nestle that the hospital gave me post op.

    Post op liquid diet

@@Butterflywarrior I HATED Isopure unflavored, it was disgusting. I use GENEPRO, but I'm going to keep the one you use in mind just in case Genepro becomes intolerable as well.
  17. I use Premier Protein liquid protein drinks from Costco and really like them. Sometimes I put one in the blender with frozen fruit and they are really delicious. I also ordered Genepro unflavored protein powder to add to soups, purees and puddings. They both have 39g of protein a serving. Huge amount of protein!! Best Wishes!
  18. I use Genepro flavorless protein crystals in blended soups and pudding. My Dr said 1-2 oz water every 15 min and 1-2 oz protein drink ( I enjoy Premier Protein from Costco 30g protein in 11oz.) For gas try Gas-X dissolvable sheets. They are a refreshing minty taste which helps.
  19. I'm day 18. After a week I was sick of sweet Premier Protein drinks too. My Dr said that if something would suck up s straw it's a liquid. (Can't use straws. Just an example). I've been putting Progresso soup in my nutribullet and after heating it up adding Genepro powdered protein. It's 30 grams of protein a tablespoon. Saved my sanity. I also have been blending frozen peaches and bananas in my protein drinks. A little pumpkin pie spice on the vanilla one is yummy. I heat them up sometimes for hot cocoa or vanilla egg noggishness. I'm on liquids for 4 weeks. That newborn baby stomach needs to heal and I don't want to get ahead of what it can handle.

Can you have too much protein?

Thank you! I have been taking 5,000 units of biotin for the past 2 months figuring I would give myself a headstart. My doctor said that I should be having 80-100 grams of protein a day and seeing how I am already getting sick of the shakes on my pre-op diet figured this GENEPRO protein would make it easier to get in by adding it to my drinks.
  21. I put this into a lot of stuff - mix it into yoghurt, cottage cheese, fat-free re-fried beans, curries, sauces, soups. It really helps me pack more protein in as a vegetarian. The scoops are very small. https://www.amazon.com/GENEPRO-Musclegen-Research-Flavorless-Certified/dp/B00K6OSDYA
  22. I have no issues with getting my protein in. I drink premier protein shakes and I found this amazing tasteless odorless protein powder called genepro. They sell it on amazon. Kinda pricey but it's 30 grams of protein for only a tablespoon! It's soooo much better than the huge scoops from the other brands and it has more grams of protein. You can also put it in hot or cold! I put it in everything. Coffee , eggs, and shakes to name a few. I actually just made an awesome pumpkin pie protein shake....have to be creative to keep my head hunger happy and still lose the pounds! Plus I don't want to lose my hair!! I hope this helps!! Good luck!

The need to eat until stuffed

It's almost ALL about self-control at where you and I are post-operatively! You're not meeting your protein goals, which is devastating to weight loss and feeling satiated by your food. I've not done the best job during the holidays, and I'm in a 3 week long stall right now. I know it's because I'm not keeping my carbs down and my protein up, and I'm not tracking every bite I put into my mouth. You should be losing more/more consistently than you are, maybe a re-start with Protein shakes and then advancing yourself through the different stages to reset your diet would be helpful. And you don't mention using any Protein powder...I still have to use it to get my protein grams high enough. On a normal day, I use GENEPRO unflavored in my morning coffee, so I start off with 20-30 grams of protein in a 12 ounce mug of coffee, with monkfruit sweetener and cream. Some days I have a container of plain yogurt with a little low-carb granola mid-morning, or cottage cheese with a tablespoon of pureed fruit stirred in. Lunch, I eat a cheese stick and a couple of slices of deli turkey. I have a handful of almonds or half an apple with Peanut Butter for an afternoon snack, then 3-4 ounces of my family's dinner protein and around 1/4 cup of vegetables. And I almost always have a sugar-free popsicle before dinner. That typical day gets me about 850 cals, 95 grams protein and 50 grams of carbs, with only 21 of them being sugars. I lose when I'm eating like that...80 lbs since the end of June. You've got the tool in place, you just need to commit to using it correctly, find ways to distract yourself when you're hungry (exercise, clean house, work, garden...whatever works) and get back on track. There's literally no reason for you to NOT be successful! Go get it, you CAN do this!!
  24. My revision was on August 17. I have lost about 18 pounds. I am still learning how to eat correctly with my sleeve. For example for the past few days I have not felt well, kind of sick to my stomach. I realized that although I am only eating about 4 ounces at a time I am still over eating. Today I ate less ounces at a time and things felt much better. l had lost most my weight with the band before it failed and luckily for me I had my revision before I gained too much back. My revision weight was and I am about at 164. I am about 5'1.5. I that 18 pounds has made the world of difference in how I feel about myself. I still am and probably always will need to use the Genepro protein because I am not much of a meat or egg person. In saying that I am trying to consume less carbs. So right now I am focusing on changing my diet. I am not on a diet I am just logging everything so I can see what I eat impacts how I feel and the cravings. I am very happy with my decision to not have the bypass over the sleeve and hope I will never need to take that step.
  25. GenePro is a little controversial in the bariatric community. Some people swear by it. But they've been sued as a scam, too. All I'll say is that they say you get 30g of protein out of a single tablespoon. And a tablespoon is 12.5 grams. They say they have reasons why that makes sense and maybe they do, but it sure makes you wonder.
